I fear that this could well be the start of World War III. Putin has threatened swift retaliation against any foreign power interfering with his invasion. There are those inside Russia who were also horrified and bravely demonstrating against it. I've been watching Al Jazeera's Youtube channel which has had fairly extensive coverage of the events. Rich of Medford recommended it as a somewhat better source of relatively unbiased coverage. There was reporting there that anti-war protestors in Russia had been arrested.
Often I have suspected we might be in the time of the Biblical seals of Revelation opening. The 4th seal was the Rider on the Pale Horse. Disease, fightings killings were shown there as taking many lives on Earth. The pandemic has remained upon us with still many, many serious illnesses and deaths since early 2020. New variants of that disease continue to appear. Recently, it was announced there was a serious new and highly contagious variant plaguing Denmark. All the other forms and variants quickly spread. This one will probably do so likewise here and abroad.
Such a sobering time and so many things happening. We need to remember what time it is and to put our trust in the Lord.

In addition to the pandemic, you might want to consider this nurses personal testimony as to what the 'vaccine' did to her. Her account is by no means unusual or rare. On a personal note; I had two friends of mine, one 51 the other 56 ... both were in very good physical condition, were not overweight, etc. and had no known physical conditions. Both were 'vaccinated' due to mandates of their employers. Both died of 'sudden' heart attacks that shocked everyone that knew them. Was there a connection to the 'vaccines?' I am highly suspicious, but, I don't know. However, there are many, many very reputable health care professionals declaring that these 'vaccines' are very dangerous, and they have the statistics to back them up.
Also, just today, I ran into a friend of mine that I haven't seen for over a year. We briefly discussed COVID, etc. She told me that she took the 'vaccine' when it first came out and had 'no problems.' However, she became "very sick" soon after the booster and said that she "hopes there will be no lasting side effects."

No matter what we may think about the geopolitics or about the corruption level or the democracy level of the Ukraine government, it can't be denied that the PEOPLE of Ukraine want to fight for their freedom. The courage of the citizens and their leaders is undeniable.
I have family over there. I've never met them, but an aunt met them in the 1990s. They are very rural, generational farmers. I saw pictures of them riding in horse drawn buggies with the women wearing their traditional scarves and skirts. They knew nothing of materialism. When they went into a newly built shoe store for the first time in their lives, they were awed by the shoe selection. I have no idea if they've become more modernized since then, or how much more modernized they may have become.
I will pray for them and for all the Ukrainian people who desire freedom and self-determination.
A brief history recap. After the demise of the USSR, Ukraine voluntarily gave up their nuclear weapons because they were told that if they were attacked, both the United States and Russia would protect them.
The United States and Europe have encouraged Ukraine to believe that we would be allies if they dared to take baby steps in the direction of being defiant to Russia. The carrot has been dangled that Ukraine may be allowed to join NATO. It would have been better never to build them up, than to build them up to the point Putin felt threatened, but not build them up enough to fight better, and not support their fight more.
I feel sickened and disgusted by my country, the unreliable ally. I don't feel proud to be an American at this moment.
P.S. There are not very many options here. Either our leaders and the EU leaders KNEW this would happen. Or they are out of touch with reality.
If it's the first case, blood is on their hands! They're using Ukrainians as pawns in geopolitics.

IMO, a far greater case can be made for Communism, and not "Nazism" as being the "beast." For all intents and purposes, Nazism died with Hitler, while Communism maintains its grip on the minds and hearts of literally BILLIONS of people. If you don't believe that, have an in depth conversation with virtually any recent high school or college graduate. You will find out real quick that the majority deeply believe in Marxist ideology. Furthermore, name ONE SINGLE 'professor' of any college in the entire world that teaches "Nazism" unabated in the class room. If only you were right about Nazism having died with Hitler. It most certainly did not and you don't have to do too many google searches to find out differently. In fact, Putin's current strategy is far closer to Nazism and its Nationalism than to Communism. The Communists, at least in Russia, did not generally promote billionaire oligarchs. If I may, and with great respect for you, I offer a word to the wise.....please do not take words so quickly (past or present as they can't tell all of the nuance in each scenario) to convey what is really happening on the ground in the world scene. Lots of other eyes are looking too, and seeing what you may, in part, be missing. Instead, we must watch what people do more closely than what they say, to get a truer picture. Follow the money, follow where the imbalances of the powers are and why, and who those things point the finger at.
You have taken too shallow an approach, I'm afraid though in a large part I certainly agree with you often in principle.
Maybe you are spread pretty thin of late, I don't know and for that I am glad for Rich Peterson to come alongside you...but I think it right to urge more broadening of your scope.

I am pretty much in agreement with your post. Basically, my premise is that both Nazism and Communism are ideologies that promoted the TOTALITARIAN STATE over and above the rights and freedoms of the INDIVIDUAL. In that, they have a great deal of commonality.
Obviously, Nazism proclaimed a racist ideology, which is so repugnant and stupid, that by its very nature, would have an extremely limited appeal to the vast majority of thinking people. (I have known many people in my lifetime and can emphatically state that I cannot recall knowing more than ONE person that was a real, bonafide racist, in that, he actually HATED people due to their ethnicity. Years ago, in my last phone conversation, I told him he was completely nuts. I never picked up the phone again when he called and blocked his emails ... he got the message).
On the other hand, I have known MANY people, almost all being highly educated (in the formal sense), that espoused the tenets of Marxism. Just one recent example; a neighbor of mine (an enthusiastic Democrat), prior to COVID, took a trip to Cuba (both he and his wife). Another neighbor told me about this 'trip,' so this past fall I said to him "I understand you visited Cuba, how was it?" That was like opening up the flood gates, he literally GUSHED about what a "great society" it was and that the "people all seemed very happy." I let him go on and on about his admiration for Utopia. When he finally paused to breathe, I asked him; "what about all of those political and religious prisoners in Cuba, do you think they are happy?" He seemed bewildered, paused, and then stammered out; "Welllll, that's a subject for another day" and then abruptly stated that he "had to go," ending our conversation.
In contrast to Nazism, Marxism has a broad appeal because it SEEMS to espouse an economic system based on 'fairness,' which of course is a sham, because it denies the FALLEN NATURE OF ALL MANKIND, thereby making "Utopia" on earth an impossibility. Under a Marxist regime, the leaders live in luxury, whereby the expendable workers live in abject poverty, with all their freedoms removed, serving as slaves to their atheist, brutal masters.
The bottom line is that Nazism has an appeal to freaks, weirdos, racists and idiots. Marxism enjoys respectability among the "elite" of the world. Which do you think poses more of a threat?

I think the fascist aspect of the new age is perhaps more subtle than what is found in communism. The two may now be in a competition over who is to be seated as their new age christ but in the end I expect they'll converge to some degree.
I view the Qanon Movement as fascist. It is by no means a small movement. I know people who have accepted the movement as truth who since have become very anti-Semitic. I present evidence showing the similarities Q has with Nazism. I find they will agree yet later observe they've remained with the movement. They think they're fighting communism (which I expect they probably doing).
The similarities I see today between Qanon and the German Christian movement is that the fight against communism was a means of mobilization to bring the German Christians together; the blending of the church and the state into an entirely different religion. A concern for sure, as I have seen some of this too, though not very much where I live. That blend you mention is an idolatry that will advance to fully come about when the choices become altogether narrowed as globalism takes it place to demand allegiance, if people do not turn back from it--now.
At one time I thought the Moral Majority was a good work in this country. I have since (and quite a while ago) changed my mind about that. Politics and the Lord's Church have had work to do, but not in the ways that they came together over all this time. America, and the world has looked too long at idols. The bad seeds sown then have produced a terrible crop in this apostate age.
Conservatism, as good as it can be at times, is not the be all, end all. I have empathy for the Freedom Convoys in the world, I appreciate elements of it, though it too will be compromised somewhere. We have to pick and choose carefully who and what we get behind, realizing that even some good aims are going to fall short, and temporary anyway. That is just the way the world crumbles. And will divide people in myriad ways because, in that sense and for a purpose Christ Himself is a divider. I agree that Russia and Putin have their own side of the story. I knew what you said, and more. The very economically important gas pipeline crosses Ukraine to reach Europe. The port of Sebastopol is Russia's only eastern port, and it was built up and invested in heavily during the USSR years.
When it gets down to it, I'm rooting for the Ukrainian people, but I don't approve of the way the US and EU handled the geopolitics. I don't think our elites should have been messing around with regime changes right at Russia's border.
I think we Americans need to do our own nation building in our own country. George W. Bush squandered our treasure.
I won't sit here and only think cold-bloodedly about the geopolitics as if I work for the Pentagon or the State Department. People are fighting and dying, and they are not the deep state, they are just the people.

Constance and I have spent many hours talking about the different diplomatic approaches the EU and United States had in resolving Russia's security concerns. I believe war would have been avoided had the EU been the primary negotiator. The US chose to sideline the EU.
While we heard that both sides of the Atlantic were on the same page, they really weren't. The consensus was no military aggression against Ukraine. Note Biden's response when asked about sanctioning Russia from the SWIFT payment system he responded the Europeans wouldn't agree.
I believe full EU membership for the Ukraine would have resolved both Ukraine's and Russia's security concerns. The EU treaty has a mutual defence clause similar to NATO's. Poland, Lithuania, and other voices in the EU recognized this. Zelensky recognizes this. Unfortunately, this is a path which comes a day late and dollar short.
Javier Solana has said the promise of NATO membership for Ukraine set them up for failure which we must now live with those consequences. I agree with him.

Unable to get a satisfactory answer to his demand, Putin invaded and settled the issue. Neither Ukraine nor Georgia will become members of NATO. To prevent that, Russia will go to war, as Russia did last night.

I certainly agree. Your take is much like my own.
Now more than ever we should be keeping our nose out of others affairs. We have our own "homework" to do as they do too. But the games played by elites don't cost them--the cost is exacted on the common people, just trying to survive and live in the difficulties created by people who greedily demand power. This is the world over now (and certainly not new). Our freedoms, what is left of them, what is left for others in struggles in their own nations, are toast unless God steps in to change that. They play stupid games and we win their stupid prizes.
These battles are waged on the ground but before that in board rooms like chess players if anyone asks me, all the while, the biggest battle is being waged just above our heads in the spiritual realm.

I pretty much agree with the first section of your post, but you sort of lost me south of that line.
Just a few points to ponder ...
When the Soviet Union fell, the talk of that time was that Communism had finally ended up on the "ash heap of history." One could make the claim that Communism was "dead" and "came back to life," and it would have far more validity to make that claim for Communism, rather than the minuscule Neo-Nazi movement.
There is a very small SEGMENT in Ukraine that is "Neo-Nazi." They are such due to a very warped understanding of their own history. Ukraine was once the 'breadbasket" of Russia, however, they always had a streak of independence, which Stalin attempted to break through the Soviet Union's Purge in the early 1930s, which killed millions of Ukrainians via starvation, through a prolonged Forced Famine. When the German Army came through Ukraine in 1941, the partisans falsely believed that the German Army were 'liberators." They were not, but, many held onto that pro-Nazi delusion long after the war. Ukraine today is controlled not by "Neo-Nazis," but rather by extremely wealthy, and equally corrupt, oligarchs.
To say that this is a "Communist Russia vs Neo-Nazi Ukraine" battle is simply false.
First, Russia is NOT a "Communist" country. It too is corrupt, and is pretty much owned and operated by its own corrupt oligarchs. Second, Ukraine is not a "Neo-Nazi" State, in fact, the President of Ukraine is Jewish! I learned that my Ukraine distant relatives have intermarried with Russians. Some of them live in Russia now. The young men fighting for Putin were drafted. Some had no idea they were even in a war. I agree completely. I for one voted for Trump twice, without even the slightest inclination to do so because of Q-Anon, of whom I NEVER followed. I made a choice of Trump over Hillary (whom I view to be evil ... IMO, probably a Satanist). Trump, in spite of intense opposition, including 24/7 attacks by the corporate owned Mainstream Media, DID in fact bring manufacturing back to America. He held NATO economically accountable. He appointed conservative Judges to the Federal Bench. He helped disadvantaged Blacks by creating true enterprise zones, which helped to bring Black unemployment down to historic lows. Blacks were participating in the system, and it was great to see. Trump was working (in spite of Congressional AND Corporate opposition) to secure the border, and he made great progress. He actually did make us Energy INDEPENDENT ... for the first time in my memory. The economy was booming. Was he perfect? Not by any stretch, but he was FAR BETTER than Crooked Hillary and Crooked Joe Biden.
ALL of this is discounted by a certain somebody that thinks that everyone that supported Trump are "Q-Anon Cult members." We're cult members too because we QUESTION the highly dubious 'election' results, which, more and more facts are coming out to justify that suspicion. Qanon was part of the discussion on this board prior to my post. I decided to chime in. I know Qanon followers who profess to be Christian. I regularly attempt to show them the spirit of error in the movement. They’ll agree with what I say only to later send me more Q materials to consider. I’ve noted the Q community remains quite large. Q is not dead.
Qanon fits into the category of transformational apocalyptic millennialism. Historian Richard Landes defines it as such:
“Transformational apocalyptic tends to foster programs of radical-often unrealistic-social change (peace movements, temperance drives, emancipation, utopian communities) and places great emphasis on educational reforms that create "new" people (citizens, comrades, believers). First, there is a legitimate form of postmillennialism. Very briefly, adherents believe that as we near Jesus’ return, the world will become more and more Christianized by the preaching/spreading of the Gospel. Once the sufficient number of Christians is attained (not by man, but by God), then Jesus will return. Thus, we might call “transformational apocalyptic millennialism” a heretical offshoot of postmillennialism.
Now, having clarified that (hopefully), I don’t think you were calling “transformational apocalyptic millennialism” the only form of postmillennialism (though the citation and limited context of Landes could be read that way). And, frankly, I’ve never thought the legitimate postmillennialism has had any merit from a Scriptural standpoint.
Second, even at least some of those who believe Trump was/is a figure to help ‘transform’ the world for Jesus’ return must recognize that Trump is not THE messiah, for they are thinking he will help get the world closer to JESUS’—the MESSIAH’s—return. (And that’s not to say some don’t believe in the heretical ‘Jesus is returning IN his church body’, i.e., spiritually diffused in church members and not bodily—but, that’s a whole different subject.)
Even the link you provided—Elusive TRUMPeter—does not reveal that the blogger believes Trump to be THE Messiah. In the context of the post, Trump is viewed as “the savior of Humanity” (lower case “s” for savior [but capital “H” for Humanity is a bit odd]) in the context of what the poster believes Trump did with respect to the vaccines: for changing these EVIL patented vaccines and for making them experimental, so we can end this experiment. Now, I think that's a bizarre statement (does he mean Trump labelled them EUA?), but it doesn't point to a Trump-is-the-Messiah claim.

There are all kinds of cults in this world that have strange 'messianic' beliefs.
For example; consider the Mormons. Mormonism is a cult, as in a REAL cult with a long history. With approximately 17 million followers, it also is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. Mormonism has its roots firmly planted in the occult, mysticism, and Freemasonry. Mormonism proclaims that one day, a Mormon messianic figure will become President of the Unite States and lead this country "back to the Constitution." This is all based upon a 'prophecy' of their 'prophet' Joseph Smith, so it cannot be revoked. Messianic? You bet it is.

Do you live around Mormons? Well, I do. Nice people generally (and individually) speaking (till you look a little deeper) but as a bloc--especially if they run your city or the business you work for, different story. Their beliefs are borrowed from old pagan trash, repackaged new age beliefs too--just another flavor of the month of the many out there in this fallen world, so don't think that Mormon Romney "conscience" isn't operating in the very spirit of anti-christ...because that self-aggrandizing, self-righteous, fool is doing just that. He has real status with most Mormons I know. He loves his so-called common touch as he lives above everyone else (silver spooned, fork tongued devil he is).
And by the way....since when are our elected representatives holding various offices supposed to go by their own conscience? They are to represent their constituents and reflect their values, not their own. The self-serving "public" servants we so often see are helping themselves to many personal perks as they supposedly "serve" us. And Romney is one climbing a ladder in saintliness in Mormonism, and why he thinks himself so above others. Reading up on things, it in many ways appears (to me at least) that Ukraine (speaking mostly of their leadership) is in yet another cycle of revolution, having lent themselves to the highest bidder (often switching sides midstream) many times in their history to gain "independence" it seems they aren't really sure they want after all, compromises so deep, they aren't sure of who they are anymore..

The topic of LGBTQ came up. I hesitated for a while but didn't want to leave my statement about the connection between ASD and LGBTQ hanging out there without more elaboration.

I'm just saying that Putin doesn't know everything about allopregnanolone, nor do the LGBTQ activits or the globalists. I think it needs more research. I think it's promising and it could lead to therapeutic targets to help kids and adults with many neurological conditions.
I just don't think we can give too much credit to either evil or good people, or partisans of any stripe, for knowing everything about still emergent research.

I suspect that kids who have gender dysphoria could possibly have abnormal allopregnanolone contributing to their issues, in addition to any more simple and direct effects of sex hormone deficiencies or imbalances that may be present.

I think there is an element to the LGBTQ saga that lends itself to the idea that it is trendy to declare yourself something other than what your parents and other societal norms adhere to simply because some people have tendencies to need extreme and exhorbitent amounts of attention in this me, me, me, selfie age. I saw (on Facebook where it is so easy to let go of norms to get attention because the number of views can get so high so shock value has an appeal too) a friend's granddaughter (and her 100's of friends on social media) posting pictures and exchanging ideas of how socially "intelligent" they should be to provide "acceptance" to others so they can be as inclusive as possible. Of note that granddaughter is a very troubled young girl with Mama and Daddy issues as long as my arm. I had to quit looking at it, it was so disheartening to read their posts. She has already had multiple guy partners in her young life but was thinking of trying out girls. Many were offering themselves for that experiment apparently.
Broke my heart to see how shallow and misled they are.

NATO went off the rails long before 2008, however. The North Atlantic Treaty was signed on April 4, 1949 and by the start of the Korean War just over a year later, NATO was very much involved in the military operation of the war in Asia, not Europe!

I believe as strongly today as I did back in my 2008 House Floor speech that, “NATO should be disbanded, not expanded.” In the meantime, expansion should be off the table. The risks do not outweigh the benefits!

I'd like to clarify what I meant by Putin being opposed to the advancement of the LGBTQ+ Agenda. Briefly, IMO, much of the increases in numbers of those that are identifying themselves to be LGBTQ+ can be attributed to a whole variety of reasons. Since the beginning of the industrial age, young people have struggled with what they want to become in life, and, who they are. In this vulnerable time frame of their lives, many kids are unstable, immature, and susceptible to practically every wind of change that comes along their way. Family troubles, peer pressure, a sense of being unpopular, unliked, being unattractive, etc. can all add to a basic sense of instability. Needless to say, this is why so many fall into drug addiction at a young age, along with a whole slew of bad activity, including hanging out with the wrong kids. During this period, it is VERY common for kids to rebel against parents and all perceived authority.
Now, during these troubling, often confusing times for a young person, comes the good folks promoting the evil LGBTQ+ agenda. The promoters of the agenda attempt to take advantage of these vulnerable kids by instilling in them the POSSIBILITY that their emotional problems are due to their misunderstanding of their sexual identification.
These purveyors of this evil agenda operate in a manner similar to the Hegelian Dialectic:
1, Problem created via education, indoctrination, in order to cause emotional, irrational CONFUSION in the mind of the child.
2, Establish and define IMMORAL behavior as being scientifically, perfectly NATURAL and MORAL, and by doing so, effectively challenge the child's OWN perception of their sexual identity.
3, Educators universally teach the new, acceptable, normal "Immorality,' and Governmental authorities move in to protect, and, provide avenues for expansion, via punitive laws against any type of discrimination. Laws are expanded to include churches, religious groups, individuals, private schools and businesses (think bakeries), thereby giving GOVERNMENT more control over everyone's lives.
IMO, Putin's government sees this, and it is that aspect that they are seeking to control.

One more thought; Russia experienced 70 years of Communist atheism that literally attempted to destroy the morality of the Russian people, who had always been a 'religious' people. During this despotic period, Russians consumed more alcohol than any other nation on earth ... by far. What they really 'thirsted' for was to be able to worship God in the manner of their free choice. They had lived under tyranny for so long, and, they saw the fruits of it. In fact, when the Bolsheviks took over, and it became clear what evil tyrants they were, it was common for Russian people to utter this phrase: "This has happened to us because we forgot God."

But too many parents have told me their kids had gender dysphoria when in a PANS flare. (PANS stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Syndrome). What happens in a PANS flare? Dopamine dysregulation due to autoimmune attack on neuronal tissues.
Recall that allopregnanolone affects dopamine and GABA. GABA is necessary to help regulate dopamine in addition to other excitatory neurotransmitters.
In autism, PANS is very frequently co-morbid. A study found that kids with autism who were not diagnosed with PANS but only with autism had anti-neuronal antibodies and responded positively to IVIG. (IVIG is frequently used as a therapy in auto-immune diseases.)
Many, many parents have observed their childrens' gender dysphoria come and go with PANS flares and PANS remissions.
My argument is complementary to yours, not oppositional.
In regards to Putin, I'm not sure about the details of what he has done. In America, whatever we do, it has to be constitutional. As Christians we do better to change hearts and minds, making the world a better place one person at a time. Every system in the whole world sucks if the people in the system have poor character.
