THE POPE HAS EXCOMMUNICATED AN ARCHBISHOP FOR COMPROMISE WITH THE MOONIES – TIME FOR EVANGELICALS TO GO AND DO LIKEWISE?
I’ve had some interesting/disturbing experiences with the Moonies and their leadership over the years. I’ve also had some interesting/disturbing discussions with various Evangelical leaders about same. Rev. Moon not-so-modestly calls himself “The Lord of the Second Advent.” He claims Jesus failed in his assigned mission to marry and have children, but he, Rev. Moon, rectified that for the human race by having 12 “perfect children.” Some babysitters reportedly described them instead as “perfect brats.” One son was killed in an automobile accident. Rev. Moon caused lots of embarrassment by the various Evangelical leaders who had apostatized to his camp once the money became attractive enough, when he decided an African man with psychopathic tendencies was his dead Korean son -- "Lord" Heung Jin Nim, back from the dead. Dutiful followers had to take many severe beatings from this man, including his USA interpreter and Washington Times head, Bo Hi Pak.
Well, a few years ago, an African Roman Catholic archbishop succumbed to Rev. Moon’s heresies. He took a Korean acupuncturist wife in one of Rev. Moon’s mass marriage ceremonies. He left the marriage – for a time – under Vatican pressures to maintain both proper Christology and celibacy.
Reported Evangelical and/or Conservative Catholic leaders succumbing at times to Moon’s financial, if not spiritual temptations, included Jerry Falwell, Richard Viguerie (also reportedly in Edgar Cayce New Age circles), Ron Godwin, Robert Grant, Tim LaHaye, Don Sills (who further compromised with the Scientologists as well as Moonies) and even Hal Lindsey had his moments of flirtation. Falwell’s embraces of Rev. Moon were particularly noxious to the Christian community.
Well, there has been a lot of popular and sometimes even Christian press screaming at Pope Benedict XVI (the former Cardinal Ratzinger) this week. However, today, he did something Evangelicals could well emulate. He cleaned house of the Zambian Rev. Moon defector, excommunicating Zambian Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo.[1]
I had an argument with a popular Evangelical leader in 1986, the name of which would greatly surprise you. He told me it was ok to take Unification Church money to help build God’s kingdom. The rationale was that “the devil has had the money long enough.” I told him and stand by same that “God does not need 25 cents of Rev. Moon’s money to build his kingdom.
Too many churches in the evangelical and fundamentalist worlds have taken too much Unification Church money at a cost of rewriting their theologies and tearing down their crosses. It is not building God’s kingdom to accept largesse from the Rev. Moon camp. It is tearing down of same. It is time to repent of the Unification Church compromise and apostasy. In December, 1983, a Unification Church organization official, Joseph Tully, admitted to me, “yes, we work with Benjamin Crème and Tara Center [I had not mentioned Tara Center to him], but we don’t all agree on who that new Christ is.”
Whatever Rev. Moon has given you, even if it saved a mortgage on your Christian School or financed new church buses, it isn’t worth your members’ souls. It is time to purge this bit of un-Christian leaven from our midst.
Sorry to be away this long, but I’m completely redoing my CD in continuous video form with voice-over and film clips. As soon as it’s done, you’ll see me as I look now. That has occupied my time, but if you view Herb Peters’ site (or watch the news) you know that things are happening FAST, the “Alliance of Civilizations” and “Clinton Global Initiative” are rapidly advancing their anti-fundamentalist agendas, and war continues in the Middle East. Javier Solana Still Speaking for World?
Javier Solana: Still speaking for the world?
That moon over Michigan sure looks pink to me tonight. As such a moon usually stimulates me (just kidding about the moon stimulation!), I go and see what Javier Solana is currently up to. No special reason apart from that. But he sure still seems to be THE SPOKESMAN for the world, or at least for the United Nations Security Council. Javier Solana says there will be no sanctions against Iran “as long as talks continue.” Now, since the USA has made it clear that they, above all else, desire that their designated spokesperson (Solana) be the sole channel that Iranian proposed deals come through, and since he, Solana has now made it clear, even in the express USA demand that there now be sanctions against Iran for missing their deadlines; but Solana says, NO SANCTIONS, as long as Iran is still talking [to him], it’s getting pretty clear who is boss and it isn’t the USA’s George W. Bush.
In the meantime, his conferring allies on the Alliance of Civilizations and implementation of the Helskinki Process are busy making plans to have even local churches submit to a UNAOC (United Nations Alliance of Civilizations) snoopervisory, oops, supervisory organization. Well, I think I’ll walk outside and take another look at that moon, surely not . . .!

NEW EU MEASURES AGAINST TERROR – BUT IS THE TERROR ALSO IN THE MEASURES?[1]
Well, it looks like September is starting somewhat rough for Dr. Solana. He is getting criticism on his “secretive handling” of the Iran issue by his 25 member states. Read about it here.[2] However, he might have something to smile about. The European Union (e.g., Javier Solana) is releasing a “Green Paper” on terror-mitigating measures. Read about that here. In addition to banned substances on travel vehicles, it seems they now have to clamp down on literary fuel on the internet. Academics might have restrictions placed on their internet paper releases. Travelers might be screened for viruses. As the repressive measures continue, both here and there, it’s getting increasingly hard to say which is scarier: the terrorists, or the crisis=opportunity responsive measures of those who were already anxious to curtail civilian liberties. It will be interesting to see the definitions given of “terror,” especially since Solana has recently so very plainly made it clear that he fears “religion and misuse of religion” above all else. Will Solana send warships against Iran as he did against Canada?
WILL JAVIER SOLANA ACT AS QUICKLY AGAINST IRAN AS HE DID AGAINST CANADA IN MARCH 1995?

Today Iran seized an EU country oil rig for allegedly violating its Persian Gulf water space. It accused the European drilling company owning the rig of “hijacking” another rig. Herb Peters has reported his personal belief that this will force Solana “to show the stuff he is made of.” Read all about it here. Well, perhaps there is historical precedent to predict the stuff of which Javier Solana is made. I have written about it in back blogspots. Read all about that here!
In March of 1995, Javier Solana, getting ready to enter his 6 month coinciding presidencies of the European Union and the ten nation Western European Union (WEU) faced a potentially non-cooperative Morocco. As Solana was also putting together his planned Barcelona Process, he badly needed Morocco’s cooperation. As most know, there is little love historically lost between Spain and Morocco. Conflicts continue to this very day. Morocco demanded concessions and Solana was in a position to award them. First, Morocco demanded the right to sell produce in the European markets. “Granted,” said Mr. Solana and associates. That cut into potential markets for at least Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Greece. Then Morocco made the cruelest cut of all. They demanded that Spain immediately cease and desist fishing its coastal waters. “Granted,” said Mr. Solana and his Spanish government cohorts. (Remember, Solana was a mere foreign minister of one of 12 EU countries at that time – Spain.)
This resulted in approximately 600 unemployed fishing trawlers with owners and crews sitting angrily in Spanish ports. They were, as I recall, even threatening a national strike.
Now, it's kind of hard to be a great world leader and have revolution brewing in one’s back yard. The ever clever Dr. Solana and his respective think tanks came up with a solution: GO FISH CANADA.
They did. They fished Canada’s halibut, cod, and turbot stocks almost to the point of extinction. They focused their fishing efforts on Canada’s Newfoundland coastal area. Canadians were not happy. They complained to the USA which helped pinpoint illegal Spanish fishing methods. Canada’s smoking gun came when the Estai, a Spanish trawler strayed into Canadian waters. Canada took it into custody.
What did our “very good friend” Javier Solana thereafter do? He promptly dispatched three (3 count ‘em) warships against Canada. Then he gave a press conference which should have been infamous for its double talk. “Yes, there are international treaties regarding fishing”, said Dr. Solana. But, he continued, they govern only the types of fish caught and not the amount. “If we are going to place limits on fishing, they should apply to all countries alike and not just to Spain”, he continued. Then, most audaciously and historically dubious of all, he gave his grand finale by proclaiming that “besides, the Spaniards discovered those Newfoundland fishing banks. Therefore, we should have every right to exploit them.”
Well, how did all this play out? Like about everything else Dr. Solana has ever done, he came out smelling like a rose. Immediately after the Israeli treaty was signed, but before the Barcelona Conference opened on November 27-28, 1995, he concluded a new fishing treaty with Morocco permitting the Spanish fishermen to return to its fishing banks. This gave Canada some reassurance that the Spanish ships would no longer be a threat. Never mind that it would take years for the severely depleted fishing stocks to recover! Then he concluded the Barcelona Process, was given sole credit for the “diplomatic accomplishment,” and only two days later, he was unanimously made the new dark horse candidate head of NATO. Canada, of course, was one of the countries voting for him. My bet is that they did so under USA duress.
Oh, and did Canada remember? Evidently not. In 2006 under the leadership of former Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, Canada signed a treaty to contribute its troops to Solana’s European armies. If you’ve clicked on the “read all about it above,” you will find ready links to that story.
Well, it should be equally interesting to watch this one play out. I’m betting that Solana ends up working this one to his advantage as well – after all he wanted “emergency powers” and as we all know, in those Club of Rome circles, “crisis = opportunity.”

Solana has new peace deal in works with moderate Arab countries?
NEW ISRAELI PEACE PLAN IN WORKS?
According to an article appearing in The Hindu Times today (August 20, 2006), three moderate Arab governments in the Middle East are pushing for a new Israel peace plan. You may read it for yourself by pressing here! If not, I have already archived it.[1] Those countries are Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. According to the same source, it was those same countries that led to “Arabs and Israelis launching the Madrid peace talks, months after the war that expelled Saddam Hussein from Kuwait.”
That 1991 conference, held in Madrid, was co-hosted by Russia’s Prime Minister Gorbachev and USA’s President George Bush (the elder). It was coordinated by Javier Solana who worked at that job even before taking the Spanish cabinet Foreign Minister post.[2] He was, however, the official spokesman for the Spanish government, even then.
The plans are serious and again Javier Solana is playing a prominent role. He met, according to THE HINDU source with Israeli and Lebanese officials last weekend. Today (this Sunday), Arab foreign ministers are meeting in Cairo. According to “THE HINDU”
“Solana's ``feeling is that we now need a big push, otherwise we shall see more fires breaking out in the future,'' a European Union official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make statements to the press. . . . Israel's defense minister, Amir Peretz, said last week that resumption of a dialogue with Syria and the Palestinians was possible. ‘Every war creates an opportunity for a new political process,’ he said.’” [3]
In one of my recent articles, I quoted New Age Movement activist Peter LeMesurier’s THE ARMAGEDDON SCRIPT, specifically the portion stating that their “New David” may well have to pursue his agenda (for a phony Second Coming and acceptance as “world messiah) amidst a time of turmoil such as the world has never seen.”
To paraphrase old Saturday Night Live Dana Carvey/“Church Lady” tapes, “could it be? . . could it be?

I accidentally found this on the internet the other day and was pleasantly surprised. I was a consultant for TV 38 of Chicago for its production. There are some featured in the video (Eric Pement, Dave Hunt) with whom I now have substantial disagreements. The New Age Movement is as much based on the western mysticism of Jacob Boehme and William Law as it is based on Hinduism and Eastern Mysticism. Nevertheless, the footage and message both are invaluable. I am pleasantly surprised to have the opportunity to make it available to my readers. You may download the google video player for free and manually download the video itself. A broadband connection is useful, but I think it may work on a dialup connection as well, albeit much slower. The Armageddon Script - Prophecy in Action?
The Armageddon Script?
I’ve written several blogspots alluding somewhat to Peter LeMesurier, “The Armageddon Script” and a hoped for “planned deception” by New Agers preparatory to introducing their new so-called ‘messiah’ to the world. My second book, A Planned Deception: The Staging of a New Age Messiah” was inspired in no small part by the discovery of LeMesurier’s 1981 book, The Armageddon Script: Prophecy in Action, in a Portland, Oregon bookstore back in 1984.
LeMesurier’s book is now becoming, like most of the more incriminating New Age materials, very scarce. It is, however, required reading. Here’s the text I posted today to Amazon.com for its review:
Peter LeMesurier finished his THE ARMAGEDDON SCRIPT in 1981, the year I discovered the existence of the New Age Movement and started my own work of sounding the alarms against same. He wrote it when the New Agers were making BIG PLANS for their hoped for immediate future and at a time when they thought they were lacking critical observation. Being watched changed EVERYTHING for them and LeMesurier's time table for a staged fake second coming was somewhat delayed. It was not, however, cancelled. LeMesurier wrote that "their script is now written, subject only to last minute editing and stage directions . . . down in the pit the subterranean orchestra is already tuning up . . . the time for action will have come."
Well, the players LeMesurier wrote about are still out and about. They are all now much longer in the tooth and for most part lacking a sense of humor about their unhoped for career delays. LeMesurier noted in that book an alternative scenario just in case their "New David" did encounter opposition to his encapsulated New Age agenda about "the New Age mission to the youth of the world" -- it was that the "New David" may have to pursue his mission amidst a "time of turmoil such as the world has never seen."
Curiously,on September 11, 2001, eleven years to the very day after United States President George Bush (the elder) gave his first major speech on "the New World Order" employing that long time Rosicrucian/Alice Bailey language in public life for the first time, all that ran through my head was "the Armageddon Script." I don't know if it was staged or opportunistic. The folded USA $20 bill with an obvious "Pentagon burning" on one side and "Twin Towers burning" with the other ("google" it for yourself, makes me suspect the former; however, since the New Age community also employs the slogan, "crisis = opportunity," it could as well be the latter.)
It certainly has not escaped my radar that Bin Laden once worked for the USA's CIA. Nor did I fail to notice the woman FBI agent who came forward seeking whistleblower protection, who said she had advance notice of the planned airstrikes and that her superiors seemed desperate to stop her from taking steps that would halt them. And certainly, I did not fail to notice that the very agents who suppressed advance governmental action against the hijackers were subsequently promoted!
At any rate, the crisis certainly did equal opportunity and now civil liberties here and abroad are coming to a crashing halt while simultaneously the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has approved human implantable computer chips and INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) is openly planning use of biometric identifiers for passports.
Now, the scene of LeMesurier's planned action is for the most part in flames. It appears to be a near match for both apocalyptic biblical prophecies and New Ager Peter LeMesurier's scenarios.
LeMesurier's book should be read with extreme caution for it is full of the subtleties of the New Age Movement (by whatever monikker it chooses to use these days), but that it is out there may be very important to understanding the mindset of those who would either understand or manipulate the situation. As I write this review, USA Senator Chuck Hagel is being interviewed about the Middle East situation. A close associate and friend of another major player in the Middle East, Javier Solana, Hagel and Solana could well be some of the players LeMesurier suggested would be acting out these "archetypal expectation" events.
Let us hope not, but let us be aware that this factor is out there and as LeMesurier writes, "waiting in the wings." If you can still find it, read LeMesurier's book, but do so with caution -- and awareness

Javier Solana may have new battle on hand
Big Fight may be brewing over Javier Solana, the Barcelona Process and the European Neighbourhood Policy (“Neighborhood” to USA residents)
It appears that Javier Solana may have a fight on his horizon – one that will be fascinating for all to watch. Then again, it may be another one of his obviously planned events. Given his close relationship with Germany’s leaders, one of whom is his former deputy, and another a co-physicist, it’s hard to tell. If it is in fact a real controversy, I’m wondering who will come out on top. Currently, I’m betting it will be him. This time, the fight (if it is a fight) is over his beloved Barcelona Process and its supposedly reinvigorating “Neighbourhood Action Policy”. For the record, I have used the European spelling of Neighborhood. Americans Googling it are likely to spell it “Neighborhood.”
According to an Israeli news source,[1] Germany has proposed dismantling the European Neighborhood Policy. You may read all about it here.
According to this article, if it happens, as far as Israel is concerned, so what. There are other vehicles for EU – Israeli cooperation:
“Anyone worried by the significance of the policy for Israel can relax. It is doubtful if there was anyone in either Brussels or Jerusalem who knew how Israel was supposed to participate in the neighborhood policy venture. Free trade in goods between Israel and the EU already exists under the association treaty. There are many channels for R&D cooperation: Israeli participation in EU Framework Programmes for R&D, Galileo global satellite navigation system (GNSS), and Eureka Network for Market Oriented R&D.” (emphasis in original)
That composing analyst also thinks that Barcelona was better:
“The picture is very different for the other countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The European Neighborhood Policy is designed to reduce immigration to Europe from North Africa; a policy to bring in goods and maybe services from neighboring lands, but not people. As for Germany, the challenge is to change the meaning of the border between Central and Eastern Europe, from a border of “up to here” that divides economically and culturally, to a border “from here” that will allow the expansion of Europe eastwards.
“The only alternative for halting the tide of immigration from the south would be to revive the Barcelona Process, the multilateral framework between the EU and Mediterranean basin countries for the promotion of trade, culture, politics, the environment, and so on.
“The other countries of the Middle East and North Africa felt more comfortable with the Barcelona Process than with the European Neighborhood Policy, which would have made difficult demands not only for regulating markets, but also in the area of civil rights. But the Barcelona Process has existed for 11 years, with few achievements. It is doubtful if Southern Europe has the time to wait for a solution to be found that suits the poor of the Middle East and North Africa. It is also doubtful if France will forego its ambition for political influence in the Middle East and North Africa.
“There is an impression that Germany cares for none of this. Someone will yet tell them that, if neither the Barcelona Process of the European Neighborhood Policy exist, the construction of an actual wall will then be on the agenda. In other words, if the proposal of German Chancellor Angela Merkel is accepted, Europe will have no choice but to build physical obstacles against the Middle East and North Africa. "
Well, given Germany’s not all that distance past and more recent incidents of Turkish workers being the recipient of “aufslander auf” (outlander out), there may be something to what is written.
Other analysts have different opinions. The EU OBSERVER has called for more reinvigorating of the Barcelona Process.[2] Given the Barcelona Process’s originally declared war on “religious fundamentalism, worldwide,” and the blame that will be placed upon just that for things now occurring in the Middle East, I smell things rapidly and tragically heading in that direction.
“The Barcelona Process should not be abandoned, nor should it be allowed to continue on its current low key scale. Barcelona, the only forum outside the UN where Israel participates alongside its Arab neighbours, should be reinvigorated and made a forum for dialogue on high politics of war and peace in the region. The decoupling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the Barcelona Process should be ended, and the forum should be used as a means to agree upon concrete action plans for democratic transition in countries lacking civil liberties.[3]

Chuck Hagel and Javier Solana
Senator Hagel goes against Administration on Israel policy – What, if anything, could that mean? Surely it could have NOTHING to do with his close relationship with JAVIER SOLANA, or could it?
I must confess I have not sorted out all of my own feelings on what is transpiring in the Middle East. It is tragic when civilians on both sides of the Lebanese border get caught in the crossfire. It has struck me that more of the Israeli military action is about the rockets on steroids that the Hezbollah seems to have recently acquired and freely uses. I, like others, was saddened by the approximately 60 innocents who died in the recent Lebanese village bombing. With that having been said, political realities and individual agendas must still be examined for the other players. One of those players is Javier Solana. One political commentator recently referred to him as a “lightweight” European voice. I’m sure Javier Solana didn’t like that. I’m equally sure it is not true.
Today, a Republican United States Senator, Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, came out in staunch open opposition to the Administration’s current policy. Read all about it here.[1] I find this much more significant than say, for example, Condoleezza Rice. United States Senators are supposed to be independent. Condoleezza Rice is a Presidential appointee and must conduct herself in line with Administration policy. This is not necessarily true of a United States Senator who must primarily please only the electorate of his own state.
Knowing of Chuck Hagel’s long time and seemingly close relationship with Javier Solana, I paid immediate attention to his declaration against the Administration today. I don’t always (in fact, I don’t often) agree with the current administration. On the other hand, I don’t have a relationship of any type (except as a probably vocally annoying critic) of Dr. Solana. This is not true of Senator Hagel who obviously has a publicly close one. Below are just a few of the 689 google hits on Javier Solana and Senator Hagel – TOGETHER!

I must confess I have not sorted out all of my own feelings on what is transpiring in the Middle East. It is tragic when civilians on both sides of the Lebanese border get caught in the crossfire. It has struck me that more of the Israeli military action is about the rockets on steroids that the Hezbollah seems to have recently acquired and freely uses. I, like others, was saddened by the approximately 60 innocents who died in the recent Lebanese village bombing. With that having been said, political realities and individual agendas must still be examined for the other players. One of those players is Javier Solana. One political commentator recently referred to him as a “lightweight” European voice. I’m sure Javier Solana didn’t like that. I’m equally sure it is not true.
Today, a Republican United States Senator, Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, came out in staunch open opposition to the Administration’s current policy. Read all about it here.[1] I find this much more significant than say, for example, Condoleezza Rice. United States Senators are supposed to be independent. Condoleezza Rice is a Presidential appointee and must conduct herself in line with Administration policy. This is not necessarily true of a United States Senator who must primarily please only the electorate of his own state.
Knowing of Chuck Hagel’s long time and seemingly close relationship with Javier Solana, I paid immediate attention to his declaration against the Administration today. I don’t always (in fact, I don’t often) agree with the current administration. On the other hand, I don’t have a relationship of any type (except as a probably vocally annoying critic) of Dr. Solana. Advances towards a total cashless society?

As the other agendas of the "New Age" advance, so, apparently is the supporting technology of some of their control freak planners. Hewlett Packard's public relation agencies now proudly report their development of an implantable and/or attachable rice size wireless chip, 10 times the speed of already fast "bluetooth" that can be used for a wide variety of bluntly, creepy, purposes. The other day a reader to this blogspot reported that even Hillary Clinton had expressed alarm over the too rapid rise of such technology, reporting with dismay that "next thing we know they will want to implant these in students' brains."

IN MEMORIAM: Maryann Mahaffey – 1925-2006
I awoke to breaking news this morning that old political acquaintance, former Detroit City Council President, Maryann Mahaffey died lovingly surrounded by her husband, Hy Dooha and daughter Susan. Her United Methodist Church pastor was also at her bedside. Her last of many lifetime battles was against leukemia. She was a political liberal. Ann Coulter would probably (and inaccurately) call her “Godless.” I found myself personally saying the most intense deep prayers for her soul. Maryann Mahaffey was there personally for me at a most crucial incubator time of my work against the New Age Movement and I what I have personally battled for the past 25 years. For that, I have always been personally grateful, even though Maryann Mahaffey and I had significant differences over many issues. As do so many Detroiters, I deeply mourn her passing.
I moved to Detroit in the early fall of 1965, not knowing a soul apart from my husband. I applied for admission to Wayne State University and after successfully battling to gain residential rate status, I was accepted and began evening classes in January 1966. My son, Stephen came along in August, 1967. Like so many of my age and generation, I was affected by the turbulence of our times. The Detroit riots began on July 23, 1967, a little more than two weeks before my son’s expected birth. From our northwest Detroit home’s neighborhood, I could hear gunfire coming from other sections of Detroit under both siege and fire. Many of my generation were dying in the Vietnam war. My personal commitment to political action began when I heard national Democratic Chairman, John Bailey, say “like it or not, Lyndon Johnson will be renominated and re-elected as President of the United States.” Outraged by the implication, I watched for somebody to stand up to that unilateral declaration. The only voice then speaking was an unlikely soft-spoken Democratic United States senator from Minnesota, Eugene McCarthy. When I saw a McCarthy for President sign on a storefront headquarters in Northwest Detroit in early 1968, I was one of the first to volunteer. Other young mothers had also volunteered and I suggested that we find a qualified child care worker to watch our children safely in the building as we did our political things upstairs. This happened and this was my experience with what was to become several years of near total political involvement as I simultaneously mothered my son, attended college, worked for the legislature and eventually went to and finished law school, graduating in May, 1975.
One of the most interesting and impressive people I met through that time – certainly the most intense, was a woman named Maryann Mahaffey. I also got to know her husband, Hy Dooha. Maryann was a Professor of Social Work at Wayne State University when I got to know her. I was a young and intense person with political aspirations. I did not know about the New Age Movement in those early days and did not discover its existence until 1981, approximately 14 years after I first met Maryann Mahaffey at various Democratic Party functions in the Detroit metropolitan area.
My deepest feelings about Maryann Mahaffey stems not from my political involvement where I deeply respected her, although not always agreeing with her. It is fair to say that she was probably far to my political left. Many in her crowd were also deeply anti-clerical. I do not believe that was true of Maryann.
I discovered the New Age Movement in 1981, approximately 1 ½ years after husband Barry lost his legs in a traumatic injury. Maryann Mahaffey as had so many other gracious Detroiters offered me their kindest sympathies at the time. Former governor, John Swainson, himself a wartime amputee came to Henry Ford Hospital (where Maryann Mahaffey died this morning) to visit.
When I discovered the New Age Movement and immediately realized its prophetic and biblical implications, I took the information unsuccessfully to my then pastor, Joseph Stowell, who would eventually head Moody Bible Institute for many years. I must bluntly say the information got out no thanks to him. I finally thought to myself, “my clients pay me for advice – they will listen.” My client base got a one by one education on the New Age Movement. – so did my political acquaintances. One startled lapsed Catholic went to report what he learned to a childhood friend who had become a priest. That priest came to see me (Fr. Eduard Perrone) and this resulted in what eventually led to Pope John Paul II speaking out against the New Age Movement in 1993. It also led, in part, to materials being received by conservative Catholics in the Seattle area that were passed on to then Cardinal Ratzinger which would lead to Matthew Fox’s investigation, silencing, and eventual ex-communication.
When I discovered this material, I had been steadily rising in political and legal circles. I was on the chairs to become President of the National Association of Women Lawyers. I served terms as secretary and treasurer. Its other officers and many members were also educated by yours truly on the New Age Movement and its ramifications. I discovered the New Age Movement during my term as treasurer and resigned from the organization when my work against the New Age Movement took on national dimensions. I remember sitting there as I horrifiedly realized the implications and knowing I could not conscientiously remain silent mumbling to myself, “professional suicide, political suicide – professional suicide, political suicide.” Were it not for the biblical Daniel prophecy about those with insight being in the plural, I would not have had the courage to go forward. That read, “those with insight among the people shall give understanding to the many.”
My support often came from where I least expected it. So did my opposition. I had not discussed the New Age Movement with Maryann Mahaffey, but word of my new advocacy quickly made gossip rounds in Detroit political circles. I received a telephone call from Lowell Cauffiel, a then Detroit radio personality who later became better known as an author. He said my name had come up in a discussion he had with a young Detroit lawyer (one formerly caught up in the New Age Movement who gave me my first Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh book), Maryann Mahaffey and two or three others. Somebody there quipped, “Connie must have ran off and joined Jehovah’s Witneses." Lowell Cauffiel told me that immediately Maryann Mahaffey immediately and strongly came to my defense. She strongly lectured all, “listen, I have known Connie for many years. I have never known her to go off half-cocked about something she didn’t absolutely know what she’s talking about. I hate to say it, but if Connie says it’s happening, it’s happening.”
Because of that statement by Maryann Mahaffey, my work was not marginalized and trivialized by Detroit media at a very crucial incubator stage of it. There were others who would play vital roles, but what Maryann Mahaffey did was absolutely crucial. She would later have her chief of staff, a Jewish woman, contact me for a full briefing on both Curtis Sliwa’s “Guardian Angels” and the New Age Movement. I laid out everything for her in several intense working sessions at the conclusion of which she (the aide) said, “this is the most insidious and evil material I have ever seen. I am going to shake your hand right now. You will take much abuse for this, but I want you to know I thank you for it.”
Within a couple of weeks after that I was invited to Detroit’s City County Building’s Council Chambers to brief the combined staffs of Detroit Councilwoman Maryann Mahaffey, Detroit Councilman Nicholas Hood, and Detroit Councilman John People’s staff.” The large audience intently listened with many relevant questions, as I showed them the numerous collected materials on both the political and anti-religious aims of the New Age Movement. Again, it was crucial support at a very early incubator stage of what was to become my long struggle to expose the New Age Movement by whatever moniker it chose to currently use to the public.
After taking my stand against the New Age Movement, I was no longer active in political causes. I was solidly on the road between 1982 and 1989. I returned to the active practice of law near the end of 1988 and by 1989 had rehung my shingle as a lawyer. Although between that and my continuing research on New Age Movement issues, I had no time for political activism, I would occasionally see my political friends. One was Detroit City Clerk James Bradley. I was his family’s personal attorney. I first met him when he was in the legislature and I worked for the Michigan House of Representatives. A long time public servant, James Bradley died in the fall of 1997. I was honored to be asked by his family to be one of the eulogizing speakers at his very large and public funeral. Mr. Bradley was a believer.
The funeral was packed. Many who’s who of Michigan political and civic life were present. I was sitting somewhere in the middle of the room. I saw then Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer walk in. I then saw Detroit City Council President Maryann Mahaffey walk in, her broken arm in a sling. I saw her looking here and there and then to my utter surprise she walked over to me personally. “Connie, I’ve been looking all over for you,” said Maryann Mahaffey. “You are to sit between Mayor Archer and me.”
When I gave my personal eulogy about Mr. Bradley, I said that the greatest thing about him was not his civic involvement, he knew Jesus.
It is not uncommon to see believers and non-believers alike at political funerals. I plan, God willing, to be at Maryann Mahaffey’s memorial service. I could not look into anyone’s mind and know what they are thinking as I gave my own clear personal Christian testimony. In the years I have seen her since, Maryann Mahaffey was always seemed very happy to see me. To my knowledge, she never said an unkind word – unlike many of those in the evangelical world who tried their very best to stifle and contain my work.
I went to Maryann Mahaffey’s Cobo Hall tribute luncheon on March 24th of this year. Many old friends far to my political left were there. To my pleasant surprise, Maryann Mahaffey’s personal Methodist pastor gave the invocation. I noticed that Maryann Mahaffey’s head appeared deeply and intently bowed in what appeared to be very personal prayer.
Maryann Mahaffey to my personal knowledge had views significantly to my political left. She was intensely and passionately for “the little person.” She did with vigour feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit those in prison.” After watching her so obviously intent in personal prayer at that luncheon I am convinced that she did love the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind as well. I said my deepest and most intense personal prayers this morning for God’s taking of her body and soul. She was there for me by her kind and supporting words at a crucial, incubator stage of my work which may have otherwise been hopelessly marginalized at its very start.

I laid out everything for her in several intense working sessions at the conclusion of which she (the aide) said, “this is the most insidious and evil material I have ever seen. I am going to shake your hand right now. You will take much abuse for this, but I want you to know I thank you for it.”
Within a couple of weeks after that I was invited to Detroit’s City County Building’s Council Chambers to brief the combined staffs of Detroit Councilwoman Maryann Mahaffey, Detroit Councilman Nicholas Hood, and Detroit Councilman John People’s staff.” The large audience intently listened with many relevant questions, as I showed them the numerous collected materials on both the political and anti-religious aims of the New Age Movement. Again, it was crucial support at a very early incubator stage of what was to become my long struggle to expose the New Age Movement by whatever moniker it chose to currently use to the public.
After taking my stand against the New Age Movement, I was no longer active in political causes. I was solidly on the road between 1982 and 1989. I returned to the active practice of law near the end of 1988 and by 1989 had rehung my shingle as a lawyer. Although between that and my continuing research on New Age Movement issues, I had no time for political activism, I would occasionally see my political friends. One was Detroit City Clerk James Bradley. I was his family’s personal attorney. I first met him when he was in the legislature and I worked for the Michigan House of Representatives. A long time public servant, James Bradley died in the fall of 1997. I was honored to be asked by his family to be one of the eulogizing speakers at his very large and public funeral. Mr. Bradley was a believer.
The funeral was packed. Many who’s who of Michigan political and civic life were present. I was sitting somewhere in the middle of the room. I saw then Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer walk in. I then saw Detroit City Council President Maryann Mahaffey walk in, her broken arm in a sling. I saw her looking here and there and then to my utter surprise she walked over to me personally. “Connie, I’ve been looking all over for you,” said Maryann Mahaffey. “You are to sit between Mayor Archer and me.”
When I gave my personal eulogy about Mr. Bradley, I said that the greatest thing about him was not his civic involvement, he knew Jesus.
It is not uncommon to see believers and non-believers alike at political funerals. I plan, God willing, to be at Maryann Mahaffey’s memorial service. I could not look into anyone’s mind and know what they are thinking as I gave my own clear personal Christian testimony. In the years I have seen her since, Maryann Mahaffey was always seemed very happy to see me. To my knowledge, she never said an unkind word – unlike many of those in the evangelical world who tried their very best to stifle and contain my work.
I went to Maryann Mahaffey’s Cobo Hall tribute luncheon on March 24th of this year. Many old friends far to my political left were there. To my pleasant surprise, Maryann Mahaffey’s personal Methodist pastor gave the invocation. I noticed that Maryann Mahaffey’s head appeared deeply and intently bowed in what appeared to be very personal prayer.
Maryann Mahaffey to my personal knowledge had views significantly to my political left. She was intensely and passionately for “the little person.” She did with vigour feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit those in prison.” After watching her so obviously intent in personal prayer at that luncheon I am convinced that she did love the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind as well. I said my deepest and most intense personal prayers this morning for God’s taking of her body and soul. She was there for me by her kind and supporting words at a crucial, incubator stage of my work which may have otherwise been hopelessly marginalized at its very start.
Maryann Mahaffey, rest in peace and may God go with you. I love you.

Of Fr, Mitch Pacwa, Matt Fox, EWTN, and mixed old memories
Of Fr. Mitch Pacwa, Matt Fox, and EWTN – Mixed feelings and memories
Considering my personal experiences with him, I have had extremely mixed feelings about the work of Fr. Mitch Pacwa, who is now bearing increasingly prominent roles with EWTN. EWTN is Mother Angelica’s founded network. I rejoice for those delivered from the deceptions of Oscar Ichazo and his enneagram. On the other hand, I mourn for those desensitized to pernicious forms of New Age deception such as Teilhard de Chardin (Pacwa’s first book on the New Age claims Chardin “saved his faith”), the Bahai’s (I was personally present at a lecture where Pacwa went out of his way to say they were not part of the New Age Movement – they clearly are!) and Outcome Based Education (Robert Muller took some credit for founding this, but said he couldn’t take all the credit which went to Djwhal Khul, Alice Bailey’s ‘guiding spirit.’)
My personal opinion is that Satan doesn’t much care which branch of the New Age one gets into – just get into one. If that can’t be accomplished, leave it alone as “harmless.”
For a very long time, I’ve held back publicly on my personal opinions and experiences with Mitch Pacwa. However, with spreading confusion as the New Age agenda advances, I now believe it is time that this information goes forth. This is the introduction to several blogspot columns I will be writing on Fr. Pacwa.
I gave many talks for a man I very much admire, Fr. Paul Marx and his organization Human Life International. These were given at various times throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Fr. Marx is now retired. Human Life International, I am told, still has copies of my first book, THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF THE RAINBOW, available for sale. Fr. Marx accurately saw the New Age Movement as a major player in the anti-life cultures of abortion and euthanasia.
It was immediatlely after returning from one of those seminars in California in the early 1990s that I had my first rude introduction to Fr. Pacwa. I had a tearful telephone call from a Catholic woman from Naperville, Illinois. She asked if I still believed what I wrote in THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF THE RAINBOW. “Yes,” I told her. She then said that her parish had a priest in to speak about the New Age Movement. She said he was supposed to be against the New Age Movement, but parts of what he had to say sounded New Age in and of themselves. She then said that she asked him about materials from Hidden Dangers. She said he “almost exploded” and then blurted out, “why, Constance Cumbey no longer believes what she wrote in Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow!”
I went, “huh, who is this guy?” She said, “his name is Father Pacwa.” She spelled it for me. That’s all she could tell me and we concluded her call.
God’s timing is certainly interesting. I had no sooner hung up from that call when I immediately received another. This one was from somebody identifying himself as a Catholic video tape producer from Los Angeles. He said they were interested on doing a tape on the New Age Movement with me. He said they had recently finished one with Fr. Pacwa, but after listening to my talk and question and answer session in California, they felt it was important that they do one with me as well. I said, “it’s interesting you should mention Fr. Pacwa. I need to speak with him. Do you have his phone number?” I was promptly furnished one. I never did hear from the producer again about the proposed video series. I rather suspect, given concurring and subsequent events that Pacwa himself may have ran interference.
I promptly called Fr. Pacwa. He had a very jovial tape recorded message on his answering machine. I left my name and number. I did this a couple of later times before receiving a return call. When Fr. Pacwa finally called me we had an interesting and somewhat disturbing conversation.
I asked him why he would say I no longer believed what I wrote in Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow without first personally checking with me. As many of my readers know, I have never been inaccessible by those wishing to personally converse with me. He then said, “that’s what they told me when I was up at Spiritual Counterfeits Project.”
He then went on to say that the woman who contacted me from Napierville who he did recall questioning him at his talk in that town “was a very paranoid type.” He then volunteered that “I agree with much of your work, but we have our points of disagreement.” I said, “well, let’s talk about the disagreements.” He said, “I disagree with you about Matthew Fox.” I said, “why?” He said, “there are mitigating circumstances with Matthew Fox.” I said, “what could possibly be mitigating about a priest teaching the doctrines of the New Age Movement?” He said, “David Spangler teaches the Age of Aquarius – Matthew Fox does not teach the Age of Aquarius.” Dumbfounded, I said, “have you read Matthew Fox’s books?” He said that he had. I then asked him, “have you read Whee, Wee, We?” “No, I haven’t read that one,” said Pacwa.
I suggested he might want to read Whee, Wee, We. I accurately told him that in that book Matthew Fox said we were coming out of the Age of Pisces and entering the Age of Aquarius. He had further said that it was idolatry for us to worship our “past gods" for the Age of Pisces as we were entering the Age of Aquarius. Further, he said that “the sins of the Israelites was to worship the gods of the Age of the Bull when in fact they were entering the Age of the Ram.” We too must not repeat their sin by going "awhoring" over our "past gods" continued Fox.
Fr. Pacwa thanked me and said he sure would appreciate having that documentation. I had the book sitting within my physical range in my law office. I suggested a quick solution. I asked if he had a fax number and I would promptly photocopy and fax the documentation. Fr. Pacwa said he would have to get the fax number for me. I said, “well, I’ll tell you what. Here’s my fax number. You fax me your fax number when you find it and I’ll immediately fax you back the documentation.”
I did receive a fax from Fr. Pacwa, but it did not include a fax number. Instead he had scrawled a large and crude message, “Have a nice life. Mitch Pacwa.”
A few months later, I was told that Fr. Pacwa had released a book on the New Age Movement. I purchased a copy. Interestingly, the cover design and pattern of the book reminded me of my own formatting. Disturbingly the book praised one of the instigators of much of the New Age action, Teilhard de Chardin. The book did give accurate warnings against the enneagram practices. It was less than a complete warning about the New Age Movement. The book then had a similar section to one I had placed in The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow. It started out, however with a “Not Recommended” section. It had two important books only on that: The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow by Constance Cumbey and Unicorn in the Sanctuary by Randall England (Randy England). He specifically criticized my analysis of New Agers following Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and Alice Ann Bailey.
Oh, and what did he do with Matthew Fox? Well, it was clear by then that he had obtained and read Whee, Wee, We. He did write extensively about Matthew Fox and that book in particular. He debatably referred to Fox and his Bear & Company venture as "a genius." Then he wrote, “is Matthew Fox a New Ager? That’s hard to say.”
No, that should not be hard for an honest person who at least claims to "be informed" about New Age Movement issues to say!
Why am I coming out with this information now and not earlier? Well, I believed it important for Catholics to receive information on the New Age Movement and as defective as parts of Fr. Pacwa’s message was, it was better than no information. Secondly, he is coming into a more prominent role with EWTN, a television network I greatly admire and I am fearful of where he may be taking it. Mother Angelica did a 90 minute special with me on the New Age Movement in the late 1980s and re-ran it several times. I noticed in many later books on the New Age Movement coming from people of her network that my work was no longer mentioned. I suspect Pacwa was a determinative force on this.
Now Lucis Trust and Matthew Fox have obviously come out of their respective closets. Lucis Trust is the offspring of the originally named Lucifer Publishing Company. That was founded by Alice and Foster Bailey in 1922 after they emigrated to New York City from southern California where they had actively worked with the Theosophical Society. They have released Study Six of their World Goodwill, “The Problems of Humanity” Building Right Human Relations” series.

The same Acrobat pdf document deals abundantly with what they call “The Reappearance of the Christ.”
I would so much like to see Mitch Pacwa’s otherwise valuable work on the New Age Movement salvaged by an honest and public reevaluation of those elements of the New Age Movement he has desensitized people to – Matthew Fox, Outcome Based Education, and the Baha’is.
He also owes an apology to those doing honest pioneering work against the New Age Movement. I have thick skin and don’t care so much, but how about him apologizing to Randy England, the Catholic lawyer who did write an honest warning against the New Age Movement, the book The Unicorn in the Sanctuary?
I’m glad Fr. Pacwa came out of the New Age Movement and publicly warns against certain aspects of it. I’ll be happier still when he gives the full picture, or else gets out of the way of those who are! Interestingly, Pacwa's book says his personal involvement with the New Age Movement in Detroit, Michigan (my own 'stomping grounds') were at something called "The Center for Integral Yoga Studies." Located across the street from University of Detroit where Pacwa once taught, it was a major local contributor in successfully bringing Benjamin Creme to Detroit to speak to a very packed audience at a large Unity Church owned facility. This happened on November 4, 1981. Center for Integral Yoga Study activists were prominently present, as were A Course in Miracles, est, Silva Mind Control, Unification Church, Unity Church, Reikki practitioners, the Holistic Health Medical Association, Bread for the World, and so many others willing to publicly advocate for a so-called coming new "Christ" who was neither Jesus nor Jewish.
I pray that Fr. Pacwa's stance on this was from less than complete information rather than more malign motivations!

That Moon looks red again!
That Moon appears to be growing redder by the day . . .
Ironically, I write these words on Javier Solana’s 64th birthday . . . July 14, 2006
I left my law office the other night -- Monday -- and again was frustrated by my lack of a camera. There was a huge, distinctly pink full moon to my south, hovering over a metropolitan Detroit skyline. Were it not only July, I would have probably characterized it as a “harvest moon.” It was a smaller and very white moon last night – at least in this corner of Michigan where I reside.
Monday was my first day back in the office after Oregon speaking engagements. I’ve seen relatively little of the news, but what I have seen is disturbing to the nth degree. Nothing much of good appeared to be going on in the world. Iran was non-committal about ridding itself of nuclear fission processing. The United States through White House Press Secretary, Tony Snow, said its foremost consideration in the whole Iran scenario was that above all, it deal through its acknowledge channel. The “channel,” is as we all know by now, none other than “our very good friend, Javier Solana.”[1]
Well, that didn’t help me sleep much better at night, especially after reading recent Statewatch reports on “Arming Big Brother.”[2]
When I left home on Tuesday morning, India had suffered violent train bombings in Mumbai (better known to most of us as the former Bombay). [3]More than 200 casualties were attributed to it. When I arrived home very late that night (come to think of it, the next night after I saw the large, pinkish moon) I learned that there had been a serious train accident in Chicago, as well. [4] But even all that bad news was eclipsed the very next day by the news coming from Israel which had already been bad enough all the previous week. Israel was responding to Hezbollah bombings by air strikes and troops dispatched to Lebanon. All Israel reservists were called up to active duty. Javier Solana was condemned by the ZOA. [5] I wasn’t quite sure how that would play out, especially with the Lucis Trust New Agers who give the usual line in response to charges of anti-Semitism, that “we’re not anti-Semitic, we’re anti-Zionist.”[6]
And then I decided to top off my Wednesday night with a peek at Javier Solana from the perspective of data bases other than google.com. I sure was surprised to see my name showing up as a “related name” on Ask.com, excite.com, dogpile.com, etc. I was even more surprised to see what was coming up as their top prioritized story on Javier Solana – an article about Tara Center/Share International’s alleged “Maitreya the Christ.”[7] Unbelievable, even to me. You’d better hurry over that and archive it for yourself. They play this lovely little game of “now you see us, now you don’t.”
Yes, it’s been quite a week. I wonder how it will end? I wonder when I’ll see the moon red again?

There was a huge, distinctly pink full moon to my south, hovering over a metropolitan Detroit skyline. Were it not only July, I would have probably characterized it as a “harvest moon.” It was a smaller and very white moon last night – at least in this corner of Michigan where I reside.
Monday was my first day back in the office after Oregon speaking engagements. I’ve seen relatively little of the news, but what I have seen is disturbing to the nth degree. Nothing much of good appeared to be going on in the world. Iran was non-committal about ridding itself of nuclear fission processing. The United States through White House Press Secretary, Tony Snow, said its foremost consideration in the whole Iran scenario was that above all, it deal through its acknowledge channel. The “channel,” is as we all know by now, none other than “our very good friend, Javier Solana.”[1]
Well, that didn’t help me sleep much better at night, especially after reading recent Statewatch reports on “Arming Big Brother.”[2]
When I left home on Tuesday morning, India had suffered violent train bombings in Mumbai (better known to most of us as the former Bombay). [3]More than 200 casualties were attributed to it. When I arrived home very late that night (come to think of it, the next night after I saw the large, pinkish moon) I learned that there had been a serious train accident in Chicago, as well. [4] But even all that bad news was eclipsed the very next day by the news coming from Israel which had already been bad enough all the previous week. Israel was responding to Hezbollah bombings by air strikes and troops dispatched to Lebanon. All Israel reservists were called up to active duty. Javier Solana was condemned by the ZOA. [5] I wasn’t quite sure how that would play out, especially with the Lucis Trust New Agers who give the usual line in response to charges of anti-Semitism, that “we’re not anti-Semitic, we’re anti-Zionist.”[6]
And then I decided to top off my Wednesday night with a peek at Javier Solana from the perspective of data bases other than google.com. I sure was surprised to see my name showing up as a “related name” on Ask.com, excite.com, dogpile.com, etc. I was even more surprised to see what was coming up as their top prioritized story on Javier Solana – an article about Tara Center/Share International’s alleged “Maitreya the Christ.”[7] Unbelievable, even to me. You’d better hurry over that and archive it for yourself. They play this lovely little game of “now you see us, now you don’t.”
Yes, it’s been quite a week. I wonder how it will end? I wonder when I’ll see the moon red again?

I have been traveling where I will be speaking in Cottage Grove, Oregon for a few days. That has occupied my energies for the last few days as I tried to organize home, law practice, and materials for this trip, not to mention that packing has never been my greatest attribute. I just took a peek at friend Herb Peters’ website and saw something I wished I had authored myself. I am taking the liberties of borrowing my material to maximize its exposure. The G-8 [has] issued their decision: Iran must respond to Javier Solana's incentive package that was approved by the so-called "five plus one" nations, at a meeting next week with Solana Read about it here. If you recall, Iran said the world would have to wait until next August for their reply. Evidently, something may have changed their mind. Let's take a look at what this "something" might be.
For a start, just who are the G-8 nations now throwing their weight behind Solana? They are a grouping of the world's eight major economies -- Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, and the United States.
OK. Now, who are the "five plus one" nations that supported Solana's incentive package offer to Iran? They are the five governing UN Security Council powers, the United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China -- plus Germany. And, last I knew, the UN was an international body made up of 191 nations. I think I'll skip listing all these nations.
Now, who are the EU nations? Why? Because, according to this article Read it here, Solana represents this group of nations too. Let's see, the EU member states are, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and United Kingdom.
Friends, these are a lot of nations. Each individual group of nations mentioned -- the G-8, the "five plus one" governing powers of the 191 member UN and the 25 member EU -- have an awful lot of clout in the world. But, when someone succeeds in bringing them all together -- such as Solana evidently has -- we're talking about someone who has achieved almost unimaginable international stature.
So, Iran's negotiator must meet with Solana next week.

June 6, 2006 - Where in the World is Javier Solana?
June 6, 2006: I wondered where Solana would be today – Now we know! - Teheran and to receive an award in Germany at 18:00 hours!
Last Friday night, I awoke after a nap to view what appeared to me as a red moon. I wondered out loud about that and mused the same to my readers. Well, now we know.
There’s a lot of hoopla today over 666. I wondered what the “invisible man”, Javier Solana, who has so consistently put that inflammatory number before us would be doing as he represents the UN and entire western world as spokesman on the current leading Middle East issue – Iran and its potential nuclear development – would be doing on June 6th..

Hmm, Teheran, Berlin. The more silly among us are joking about 666 by celebrating it in Hell, Michigan (only about 65 miles from Detroit); or going to see replays of The Omen. Personally, I’m not going to worry about one day that much, and I will continue to observe the person who has placed the number 666 that consistently before us without that much notice – Javier Solana.
I’m sure it’s all a coincidence. Sure, Sure! I'm equally and unfortunately sure that most people will treat it as a joke -- it's not.

Red Moons and Solana the global spokesman?
JAVIER SOLANA, THE EVIDENT CURRENT SPOKESMAN FOR THE WORLD, IS READY TO PRESENT IRAN WITH ITS GLOBAL INCENTIVE PACKAGE
Somedays I think my imagination is starting to work overtime. I am still at my office spending Friday night both perusing legal work and research on the topics which fuel this blog and my future writing. This has been a habit of mine on free Friday nights for the past 25 years. I keep a cheap hammock chair in the closet of my office. It is one of those canvas chairs designed for camping. It has both a foot and head rest. I keep it for a practical reason. There are times when I pull long hours when I can keep my eyes open no longer. Now, I must confess that I can go into couch potato mode just looking at a couch. For that reason, I do not keep a more aesthetically pleasing couch in my office. I fear I might go into permanent hibernation. I wish I could sleep as well in my bed at night as I feel like doing when I view a comfortable couch. The temptation for the couch at home is non-existent. Quite honestly, we usually have too many books, etc. on it to allow for anything but seating at whatever end remains’ clean. Okay, that’s the end of true confessions about my housekeeping imperfections for now at least. The point of this is that I did take a half hour break and awoke about half an hour ago and at least perceived that I was viewing an increasingly reddening moon. Yes, there appeared to be a red crescent moon appearing after what had been heavy rains. I went for my digital camera and discovered that battery was low and the charger missing, and then the moon disappeared from view.
Convinced my imagination now was truly acting overtime, I returned to the computers and decided to see what “our very good friend”, Javier Solana, was up to. I didn’t have to look far. Yesterday, googling him, I found he had well in excess of 6 million hits. Today was a relative down day in the news for him in terms of google.com numbers. He now has a mere 5,850,000 google search item yields. Maybe a few of them are for the Mexican flight and sports car aficionado, the other Javier Solana. After checking the numbers, I decided to check the news and see what ‘the invisible man’ had on his plate as of late. Again, I have decided that I must be seeing too much in things and working too hard. I thought that I was reading something again implying that Javier Solana was a de facto world spokesman. Oh, and there were headlines about riots in Paris, hopeful expectations of peace over the Solana Iran presentation in the Jerusalem Post and news of a Canada boycott of Israel. I mused over what I had seen heard the last few days: civilians, including women and children killed in Iraq; daily explosive bombings in Iraq; Russia unhappy over NATO expansion; earthquakes; 25 year anniversary for AIDS; misery in Indonesia, etc., etc., etc. Did I see a red moon? Cristina Gallach, his spokesman said, per the Iranian press, that the date Solana planned to give the package to Iran is currently "undisclosed." I wonder what he is doing on June 6th? I wonder if that moon is still red?

Dealing with A Saint that ain't
VASSULA RYDEN -- DEALING WITH A "LIVING SAINT" THAT AIN'T
My dear friend, Liz Collins, left this world in late Spring, 2005. While she was living, she was one of my strongest supporters on New Age Movement issues. Liz and Bob Collins were devout Catholics and Liz was deeply concerned about New Age infiltration of the Roman Catholic Church. I probably could have written several more books in the time that Liz took me places to put out individual fires at local Catholic institutions. I was always afraid that I would end up being arrested as I accompanied Liz who would ask a seemingly naïve question of the New Age presenter and be put down as unschooled in theology. Of course, I would always get up thereafter and give them a sophisticated piece of my mind before we both left. I would feel bad about the approach, had not so many approached me in later years and thanked me for being there and saying what I did. "You said exactly what I needed to hear," said one woman who had been an enthusiastic devotee of the Matthew Fox/Thomas Stanks line before coming to see it for what it was -- a soul trap. Liz was a former Pan American Airlines hostess, was fluent in both English and German, and had a degree in home economics. She flew Pan American’s international skies in the 50’s before she and Bob married and raised their six beautiful children.
Liz expressed frequent concerns to me about an alleged new “saint,” an alleged Greek Orthodox, Vassula Ryden, a "former Sheraton Hotel model, former tennis champion of Bangladesh and fluent in four languages, one of which was Arabic. She claimed Jesus was frequently giving her direct messages.
Now I have to tell you that practicing law in the metropolitan Detroit area, there is no second language more useful than Arabic. The little I know, I speak VERY WELL and I can read and write a smattering of it. If I were to have a full-immersion experience, I’m sure I could be fully functional in it in very little time. It was a Jewish attorney who gave me the key to unlocking it. Elliot Perlman said to me, “the key to learning Arabic is its alphabet. Unlike English, it is pronounced exactly as written. There are only 28 letters in that alphabet and it is strictly phonetic.” I had a client, from Egypt, who knew no English. At that time (1990), I knew no Arabic. We both knew one extremely helpful French phrase, “qu’est-ce que c'est?” (What is that”.) Through that he introduced me to Arabic and I introduced him to English equivalents. The handy-dandy language tapes helped with a good share of the rest, as well as my various Arabic clients who were thrilled to help me discover their language which to my delight was arranged in logical clusters. I practiced it every chance I got, which was often given Detroit’s large Arabic population.
Now, about the time that I was practicing this and trying it out on my English speaking friends, including Liz and Bob Collins, Liz approached me with news that Orchard Lake Seminary was bringing Vassula Ryden to town. Liz and friend Tom McGlynn were concerned that there might be New Age aspects to her work. I was busy practicing law and didn’t want to take the time to look. Liz and Tom prepared a flyer based on their own studies and placed flyers on cars at Orchard Lake Seminary the night Vassula was speaking, also, as I recall sometime in the earlier 1990’s. Liz called me with the disturbing news that she had almost been arrested, but the organizers of Vassula’s talk had invited Liz to their Lathrup Village home to personally meet Vassula.
Liz Collins and Tom McGlynn naturally wanted me to be part of that expedition. I wasn’t so sure. For one thing, it was to happen on a Saturday – my day off – the day I tried to forget I had ever been an attorney and just take care of things at home – the day that has saved my sanity for the past 17 years. I finally, however, reluctantly agreed to go.
The day was a very cold and wet rainy April one. I met Liz and Tom at a now closed restaurant called Vassili’s. We had pre-meeting talks and took one car from there to the Vassula Ryden gathering. I was not happy about my day off being disturbed for anything short of the Second Coming itself. I griped openly, “Vassula Ryden says she can speak Arabic. I’ve got a good notion to speak to her in Arabic. If she doesn’t understand me, you don’t have to worry about the authenticity of her spirituality – she’s a garden variety fraud!”
We walked into the lovely and spacious Lathrup Village home. The “Saint” was wearing slacks and had straight long light brown hair. She professionally shook hands with all who entered in a reception line type setting. Liz shook her hand and waited for me. Tom McGlynn then shook her hand and waited for me. It was my turn. I used the Arabic phrase for “I’m very pleased to meet you.” Immediately, Vassula Ryden said, “what language is that?” I did an aside to Tom and Liz and said, “she doesn’t know what language I’m speaking.” I used increasingly common phrases in any Arabic dialect (trust me, we have them all in this metropolitan Detroit region). Finally, I said one of the most common of all which transliterates something like “Sabbah al’hier” (good morning). Vassula said to me, “you’re driving me crazy – what language is that?”
I said, “You don’t know.” “No,” she replied. “Arabic,” I said.
A clearly taken by surprise Vassula Ryden said, “my friend over there speaks Arabic. She can tell me if you’re speaking Arabic or not.” I said to her, "well, I thought from all your advance publicity that you'd be able to tell me that for yourself." She repeated, "my friend speaks Arabic, she can tell me if you're speaking Arabic or not. I dutifully went to her friend who was standing very near by and undoubtedly heard our conversation. As I recall her name may have been called “Mrs. Mansour.” I greeted her and then introduced myself in Arabic, told her where I was from, what my occupation was and where I was currently living.” She turned to Vassula and said, “yes, she is speaking Arabic.”
I went into the living room where her faithful were gathered along with us three skeptics. A sweet old priest who was familiar with my work against the New Age Movement greeted me and said he had gotten his sister out of the New Age Movement, thanks in part to my books and thanks in part to the writings of Vassula Ryden.” I said to him in the least abruptful way I could, “the New Age Movement can take many forms.” I then asked Vassula Ryden, “what United Nations agency employs your husband?” She said, “Are you interrogating me?” I said, “I guess you could say that.” She said, “Well, I’m not going to tell you.” I said, “yes, and you speak fluent Arabic too.” She said, “I couldn’t understand your dialect.” I told her I was speaking the dialect she claimed to know, pure Egyptian Arabic.
I denounced her as a fraud and left. The story of the confrontation quickly made the local circuits. My friends claim I was mumbling as I left (not sure I remember), “I wonder why God let me learn Arabic so easily – I had so much trouble with college French.”
A few years later I had the privilege (1994) of meeting author E. Michael Jones. He had interestingly noted the problems with Vassula Ryden in his book on Medjujorge claimed apparitions. He noted the obvious theological errors and said that Mrs. Mansour, who may well have been the same lady I earlier met in Lathrup Village, said that the errors may have existed because Arabic was Vassula Ryden’s primary language and “that perhaps in the transliteration . . .” I told E. Michael Jones what I had learned – from my observation, Vassula Ryden did not know as much as a word of Arabic.
Liz’ husband, Bob Collins, said, “you should have challenged her to a game of tennis, too” (Referring to her claims that she was a former tennis champion for the Nation of Bangladesh.)
I guess being a saint and selling lots of books to the faithful is good retirement work for aging Sheraton Hotel models. Frankly, I would invest my heavenly aspiration resources elsewhere than in Vassula Ryden books. I looked at her website this morning and saw that she claims the present pope is rethinking the position he took on her when he headed the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. For one thing, it was to happen on a Saturday – my day off – the day I tried to forget I had ever been an attorney and just take care of things at home – the day that has saved my sanity for the past 17 years. I finally, however, reluctantly agreed to go.
The day was a very cold and wet rainy April one. I met Liz and Tom at a now closed restaurant called Vassili’s. We had pre-meeting talks and took one car from there to the Vassula Ryden gathering. I was not happy about my day off being disturbed for anything short of the Second Coming itself. I griped openly, “Vassula Ryden says she can speak Arabic. I’ve got a good notion to speak to her in Arabic. If she doesn’t understand me, you don’t have to worry about the authenticity of her spirituality – she’s a garden variety fraud!”
We walked into the lovely and spacious Lathrup Village home. The “Saint” was wearing slacks and had straight long light brown hair. She professionally shook hands with all who entered in a reception line type setting. Liz shook her hand and waited for me. Tom McGlynn then shook her hand and waited for me. It was my turn. I used the Arabic phrase for “I’m very pleased to meet you.” Immediately, Vassula Ryden said, “what language is that?” I did an aside to Tom and Liz and said, “she doesn’t know what language I’m speaking.” I used increasingly common phrases in any Arabic dialect (trust me, we have them all in this metropolitan Detroit region). Finally, I said one of the most common of all which transliterates something like “Sabbah al’hier” (good morning). Vassula said to me, “you’re driving me crazy – what language is that?”
I said, “You don’t know.” “No,” she replied. “Arabic,” I said.
A clearly taken by surprise Vassula Ryden said, “my friend over there speaks Arabic. She can tell me if you’re speaking Arabic or not.” I said to her, "well, I thought from all your advance publicity that you'd be able to tell me that for yourself." She repeated, "my friend speaks Arabic, she can tell me if you're speaking Arabic or not. I dutifully went to her friend who was standing very near by and undoubtedly heard our conversation. As I recall her name may have been called “Mrs. Mansour.” I greeted her and then introduced myself in Arabic, told her where I was from, what my occupation was and where I was currently living.” She turned to Vassula and said, “yes, she is speaking Arabic.”
I went into the living room where her faithful were gathered along with us three skeptics. A sweet old priest who was familiar with my work against the New Age Movement greeted me and said he had gotten his sister out of the New Age Movement, thanks in part to my books and thanks in part to the writings of Vassula Ryden.” I said to him in the least abruptful way I could, “the New Age Movement can take many forms.” I then asked Vassula Ryden, “what United Nations agency employs your husband?” She said, “Are you interrogating me?” I said, “I guess you could say that.” She said, “Well, I’m not going to tell you.” I said, “yes, and you speak fluent Arabic too.” She said, “I couldn’t understand your dialect.” I told her I was speaking the dialect she claimed to know, pure Egyptian Arabic.
I denounced her as a fraud and left. The story of the confrontation quickly made the local circuits. My friends claim I was mumbling as I left (not sure I remember), “I wonder why God let me learn Arabic so easily – I had so much trouble with college French.”
A few years later I had the privilege (1994) of meeting author E. Michael Jones. He had interestingly noted the problems with Vassula Ryden in his book on Medjujorge claimed apparitions. He noted the obvious theological errors and said that Mrs. Mansour, who may well have been the same lady I earlier met in Lathrup Village, said that the errors may have existed because Arabic was Vassula Ryden’s primary language and “that perhaps in the transliteration . . .” I told E. Michael Jones what I had learned – from my observation, Vassula Ryden did not know as much as a word of Arabic.
Liz’ husband, Bob Collins, said, “you should have challenged her to a game of tennis, too” (Referring to her claims that she was a former tennis champion for the Nation of Bangladesh.)
I guess being a saint and selling lots of books to the faithful is good retirement work for aging Sheraton Hotel models. Frankly, I would invest my heavenly aspiration resources elsewhere than in Vassula Ryden books. I looked at her website this morning and saw that she claims the present pope is rethinking the position he took on her when he headed the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
