In this middle of all the "New Age Revolutions", this also on the scene

SECOND UPDATE AND QUERY:  WOULD THIS BE HAPPENING WITHOUT THE COUNSEL OF THE SDA (SECURITY AND DEFENCE AGENDA) CO-PRESIDED BY JAVIER SOLANA AND JAAP DE HOOP SCHEFFER?? DOUBTFUL!!!

UPDATE:  BBC reports today that Israeli intellectuals and artists back Palestinian state.  Something BIG appears to be  in wind just in time to coincide with all the other ongoing "New Age Revolutions."

Original Post:  Hmmm, "New Age Revolutions" just about everywhere; Bolivia proposes universal Earth Charter / "pachamama" legislation for UN global enforcement and NOW Israel "under pressure to offer peace plan."  If they don't, THE QUARTET may try to "jump-start" the process.

According to this story in the Los Angeles Times, Israel is under intense pressure both from the Quartet and from the USA State Department teamed up with the Brookings Institution.  (Remember the information "Farmer" laid out about the Brookings Institution (now one of the many homes for Javier Solana) and "The Quartet" (formerly spearheaded by Javier Solana before his job responsibility cessations to Catherine Ashton?).

It looks like a power struggle between factions and it further looks as if Israel might be caught in the middle.  Quoting from the Los Angeles Times article in relevant part:

Israel won some breathing space with the postponement last week of a meeting of international powers in Berlin, but American and European diplomats are continuing to prod Netanyahu to lay out his vision for restarting peace talks and ending the occupation of the West Bank. If he does not, diplomats warned, the so-called Mideast quartet — the United States, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations — may attempt to jump-start the process by formally endorsing, for the first time, the creation of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Netanyahu's government has vehemently opposed such a move.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton signaled last week that international patience over the stalled peace process was growing thin and that the recent Arab world unrest made a resolution of the conflict more pressing. She promised "active American leadership" and a reinvigorated U.S. approach that would be announced in coming weeks.

Stay tuned!

I just checked out the Fule Project notest you mentioned. It had a variety of people expressing opinions on Jesus Christ. As segments of the FUEL PROJECT I watched as I remember them had critical comments about H. G. Wells, and looking at the CONTEXT of the page you reference, it appears to me that Fairley here was showing that even Jesus' philosophical enemies acknowledge his powerful influence.

HK,

I have not found a source that says the canon was settled in the 2nd century.

Since, you made the claim, it's up to you to come up with the evidence.

At the end of the day, we won't be judged on who has all the answers, but who has shown the most charity.

Happy Easter!

HK,

The majority text comes from the Byzantine East, and they do not subscribe to Sola Scriptura till this day, nor do they hold to the Protestant view of church.

The received text, comes from Erasmus who was Catholic and did not join the reformation.

Once again No Sola Scriptura, no Protestant views on church.

According to the Protestants I have spoken with, we will not be judged on whether we have shown charity. This is a Catholic concept. It is referred to pejoratively by people like Steve as "works salvation" (an erroneous term, but it is the one they use nonetheless).

The Protestants believe we will be judged soleley on whether or not we believe Jesus Christ is God. This is Sole Fide, invented by Martin Luther, who didn't like the moral restrictions placed on him by the Catholic Church. How you behave morally does not come into the equation under Sole Fide. It's all about whether you have the right beliefs. The different Protestant sects cannot agree amongst themselves on whether you can lose your salvation once you come to the "correct belief" about Jesus Christ (known as the "Once Saved Always Saved" controversy).

Sole Fide was a convenient philosophy for Henry VIII to adopt in order to justify his grossly immoral life.

Yet they do from time to time give a cursory nod to the importance of obeying the commandments. Interestingly, HK writes:

my hope is that we all can encourage each other to serve our Savior to the best of our individual ability.

Apparently he thinks approving of people like Steve who call Catholics "anti-Christian" and distorting the teachings of the Catholic Faith is somehow serving Jesus.

Constance, regarding Wells, as with everything else, Fairley doesn't give sources. Wells was a major Catholic and Jew hater, like Fairley. Not strange he would seek to make Wells look good in "Christian" eyes. And why, in all of the people in the history of the world, would he choose Wells and Kung to honor?

Oh I forgot, you don't have time to do research on Fairley these days Pity. Fascinating stuff out there.

I've been seeing so much venom and bile being spouted out on so many christian fora online that I feel compelled to preach love and forgiveness.
Let us all remember where contention comes from.

Dorothy said...

K,
While you are checking out Fairley, I hope you've come across where he wrote "When Jesus turned him down, Satan saw to it that he was crucified. This was Plan B."

This theory is new to me. I've not run across it in any Christian source. Satan had to be powerful enough to have a role? It wasn't enough that the Romans were concerned that this messiah figure, among many messiah figures at the time, posed a thread to Roma control? According to Christianity, didn't Jesus have a role in coming down to earth that superceded what Satan could do to him? When Jesus came down to earth was Satan more powerful than Him? He needed Satan's efforts to make the goal happen?

That's so internally inconsistent.

Regardless of Hislop's sloppy research and Woodrow's change of tack, these issues need to be looked at earnestly.

There is an awakening to the suggestion that "Big Church" has apostatised and that there only a "Faithful Remnant" who have not been suckered into a false Gospel.

Stridently arguing from a traditional perspective is a waste of time.
What matters is our heart before God. How is it?

It is those who are right with Him that constitute the TRUE CHURCH.

And just WHAT would that 'false Gospel' be, Pete?

You DARE to make an outrageous statement like that without backing it up with documentation?

I'm not going to get into a lengthy dialogue with an "Anon"

For the sake of the argument. How about the message preached by the myriad of Pseudo-Christian cults? Or the WoF movement, or the New Apostolic Reformation?
How about the Emergent Church message?

AS to the point about "Daring", I dare NOT speak against it.

My name is completely irrelevant to this discussion. That's why Constance offers this 'option' in the first place!

Stop trying to provide a convenient distraction.

It is a matter of courtesy. I am not comfortable in engaging in dialogue with someone who will not put a name to their posts.
I am not rabidly Anti-Catholic as you assume. I doubt if holding to tradition will count for anything when each of us stand before the Lord.

Is there NO ground whatsoever in the claims made by Hislop and reiterated in the Fuel project?

Shouldn't we be alert for the possibility that there MAY be something of concern?

Regardless of that issue. Your relationship with God is of greater importance than what Church you attend. How is yours?

God bless

Pete,

As I explained wayyyyy before the polemics started, Hislop's bizarre claims against the Roman Catholic Church were debunked.

Moreover, they were debunked - NOT by a Roman Catholic - but by a PROTESTANT, ( Ralph Woodrow )after a history teacher showed Woodrow the glaring flaws in Hislop's scholarship.

Before Woodrow was shown the error of his ways, he had written an anti-Catholic diatribe entitled BABYLON MYSTERY RELIGION which was based on Hislop's book, but later took it out of print and wrote another book entitled THE BABYLON CONNECTION? exposing Hislop's grievously flawed scholarship.

I have every intention of viewing every single one of the Fuel Project videos - if only because the anti-Catholic portions are larded with falsehoods found in Hislop's book.

Hislop's book is part of the pseudo-theology of White Supremacist/Christian Identity groups such as THE COVENANT, THE SWORD AND THE ARM OF THE LORD which was founded by James Ellison who was also a polygamist.

CHRISTIAN IDENTITY: A CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
Despite this tendency to eschew society, an increasing number of groups associated with Identity theology have begun to branch out, actively recruiting new members. Ironically, one of their greatest tools in evangelism is their eschatological views. Because they are so similar to the views of many Christian Fundamentalists, and do not reveal any of Identity's racist or anti- Semitic teachings, they have been an easy point of entry for Identity preachers seeking a larger audience. Quoting chapter and verse, their arguments tend to resonant within the biblically- minded Fundamentalists (Zeskind 1986, 33).

Another tool that is rapidly becoming a standard component of Identity's evangelical outreach is the Internet. A simple search of any Internet search engine reveals the wide variety of racist and anti-Semitic sites available. Sites such as Kingdom Identity Ministries, Scriptures for America Worldwide, and Christian Defense League are devoted to spreading their ideology across the country--and, potentially, across the world.

You know, Pete, we Roman Catholics have our own "Catholic" versions of Alexander Hislop who, besides being anti-Semitic, also go around accusing Protestants of all kinds of dastardly deeds - including involvement in the worst forms of the occult. But those of us Catholics who have done our homework and who have any brains wouldn't give these "Feenneyites on steroids" the time of day.

To Pete @ 2:10 PM

My relationship with God is wonderful! Thank you for asking.

Actually, the only 'concern' that we Catholics have here is that anti-Catholics have to resort to 'grasping at straws' with 'bottom feeders' like Hislop and his Fuel Project propaganda machine . . . because basically, you've got nothing else to offer in the way of a real debate.

And if you are really interested in rehashing what Catholics think about Hislop and the Fuel Project, go back and read the earlier comments on this thread . . . especially those posted by Susanna, who has done excellent research on the subject.

Hi Susanna

Hislop makes some rather fanciful connections, that's for sure but it is in YOUR interests to run these things to ground. None of our Denominations are as "Lilly white" as we would like to think.

Rabid Anti-Catholicism here is sometimes matched by an equally rabid Catholic Dogmatism.

Pete,

If you paid attention to what I posted on the AMERICAN CATHOLIC COUNCIL, you will understand that I keep quite busy "running to ground" the apostasy and scandals in my own back yard.

I would be the last one to say that the Catholic Church doesn't have her fair share of apostates.
We have some real winners too!!! There is Leonard Swidler who is one of the ringleaders of the so-called AMERICAN CATHOLIC COUNCIL. There is Hans Kung who is deeply involved in the United Religions Initiative. And last, but certainly not least, there is now-excommunicated former Dominican priest Matthew Fox who at one time had close ties with the self-professed "witch" named "Starhawk," and even hired her to teach at a Catholic College.

Starhawk is one of the co-founders of Code Pink and along with Van Jones, sits on one of the board of the Institute of Noetic Sciences.

I am not making any of this stuff up. In the interests of being fair, I try to cite as many sources as possible - even at the expense of overly long posts.

And didn't you see my post in which I mentioned our "Catholic" versions of Hislop who go around accusing Protestants of all kinds of dastardly deeds - including involvement in the occult???

I said that those of us Catholics who do our homework and who have any brains wouldn't give these "Feeneyites on steroids" the time of day.

So I am in agreement with your comment except to say that in lieu of "rabid Catholic Dogmatism" you might want to use the term "rabid anti-Protestantism" because this would more accurately describe the "Feeneyites":

Rabid Anti-Catholicism here is sometimes matched by an equally rabid Catholic Dogmatism.

I would only add that in both cases there is also rabid anti-Semitism.

By the way, for the Identity groups, salvation is not in Jesus Christ. The Identity groups preach "salvation by race instead of grace."

God Bless you and have a great day!

[saw this on the net, for what it's worth - Angela]

DAVID LETTERMAN'S HATE, ETC. !

David Letterman's hate is as old as some ancient Hebrew prophets.
Speaking of anti-Semitism, it's Jerry Falwell and other fundy leaders who've gleefully predicted that in the future EVERY nation will be against Israel (an international first?) and that TWO-THIRDS of all Jews will be killed, right?
Wrong! It's the ancient Hebrew prophet Zechariah who predicted all this in the 13th and 14th chapters of his book! The last prophet, Malachi, explains the reason for this future Holocaust that'll outdo even Hitler's by stating that "Judah hath dealt treacherously" and "the Lord will cut off the man that doeth this" and asks "Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother?"
Haven't evangelicals generally been the best friends of Israel and persons perceived to be Jewish? Then please explain the recent filthy, hate-filled, back-stabbing tirades by David Letterman (plus Sandra Bernhard, Larry David, Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher, Joan Rivers, and Sarah Silverman) against Christians like Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, and explain why most Jewish leaders have seemingly condoned such "crucifixion"!
While Letterman etc. are tragically turning comedy into tragedy, they are also helping to speed up and fulfill the Final Holocaust a la Zechariah and Malachi, thus helping to make the Bible even more believable!
For even more stunning information, visit MSN, Google, Yahoo etc. and type in "Separation of Raunch and State," "Michael the Narc-Angel," "Obama Supports Public Depravity," "Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty," "Pretrib Rapture - Hidden Facts" and "Obama Fulfilling the Bible."
PS - - - There's nothing wrong with Hollywood that a 10-point earthquake couldn't fix !!
