I have been watching many videos and doing much reading about Qanon. The more I
read, the more alarmed I become. QANON is NOT OF GOD and it is DANGEROUS. A very
informative video illustrating Qanon origins and direction is HBO's current
series ON THE STORM. If you have access to HBO documentaries, please make every
effort to watch it. Friends of mine came back from Antrim County, Michigan. They
told me that they were making statements there that Donald Trump would be
reinstated as President of the USA in August 2021. Both high unlikely, not to
mention delusional! Michael Lindell, MY PILLOW owner and CEO spoke, I'm told at
the Antrim County, Michigan rally. My friends tell me the book LOVE JOY TRUMP
was being actively marketed and sold there. Lindell wrote the foreword for that
book. The book is one of the worst combinations of New Apostolic Reform and
outright NEW AGE occultism I have seen together in one place. I am hearing
statistics that many Evangelicals believe Qanon is correct. This lack of

Members of Congress ‘domestic terrorists’?
As the “National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism” seeks to chill free speech regarding crucial violations of election integrity and unconstitutional government COVID-19 restrictions, while punishing such violators for “incitement,” the American people appear to be facing perhaps the most aggressive attack on their civil liberates in the nation’s history.
Tucker Carlson recently highlighted a statement by former Assistant Director of the FBI, Frank Figliuzzi which might indicate the next steps the administration hopes to accomplish in its agenda. As summarized by Carlson, Figliuzzi indicates how “the goal is to round up people who dissent against the regime and throw them into solitary and that's including Members of Congress.”
“What have we learned from our experience with international terrorism?” Figliuzzi asked in the clip from MSNBC. “In order to address that problem of arresting low-level operatives is merely a speed bump, not a roadblock, in order to really tackle terrorism in this time domestically, you've got to attack and dismantle the command-and-control element of a terrorist group. That may mean people sitting in Congress right now.”
“Round up sitting members, duly democratically elected Members of Congress, because they oppose the regime?” Carlson responded. “Even Vladimir Putin is not doing that!”
As referenced above, such phrases may indeed indicate a foreknowledge or intention of future initiatives or events. Prior to November 3, Joe Biden, the Democrats, Big Media, and Big Tech seemed to oddly expect a contested election. For example, Axios reported just before the election that should the media declare Biden the winner, he planned “to address the nation as its new leader, even if President Trump continues to fight in court.”
In addition, an NBC news piece feared President Trump may claim the election was “rigged,” and his supporters, with “a sizable online network,” were “poised to amplify any [such] claims.” And in order to suppress such an expectation, Twitter implemented a new policy prior to election day, that users of the social network “including candidates for office, may not claim an election win before it is authoritatively called” by the mainstream media or state election officials.
During the first presidential debate, Biden strangely appeared to intentionally prepare the audience for a refusal on the part of his opponent to concede the election. “But, by the way, if, in fact, he [Trump] says he's not sure what he's gonna accept, let me tell you something, it doesn't matter. Because if we get the votes, it’s going to be all over. He's going to go.”
Considering that despite the continued crumbling of the January 6 narrative, how the same political, deep state, and media establishment that have brought America a long series of hoaxes (Russia, impeachment, useless and unconstitutional COVID-19 restrictions), is still utilizing this “insurrection” tale to justify an unprecedented “nationwide manhunt” for holding and abusing pro-Trump “political prisoners,” and setting in place structures for the punishment of political dissent, other current utterances of Biden and the establishment just may indicate their expectation for the people’s future.
On the heels of election day, Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin stated, “We have to collectively burn down the Republican Party. We have to level them. Because if there are survivors, if there are people who weather this storm, they will do it again.”
Former FBI director James Comey, who was behind many of the politically motivated violations of the law by the bureau in recent years, agreed, stating, “The Republican party needs to be burned down or changed.”
Finally, in March, when asked a question by a reporter if he was planning on running for reelection in 2024, Biden remarked, “I have no idea. I have no idea if there will be a Republican Party [in 2024]. Do you?"

Thank you Opus Dei and Roman Catholic pope for giving us lifesitenews and their ability to spin the biggest yarn I have ever read in my entire life. It would be hilarious if one didn't understand the power behind the lifesitenews misinformation platform, Opus Dei. Opus Dei has such control over the Republican Party they just can't give it up. For those who see Trump as an instrument of God, it doesn’t matter how rational his opponents’ accusations of malfeasance are. They must defend him. To call this unreasonable is to misunderstand their defense. You cannot argue with the Roman Catholic God.
The attempt by contemporary Catholic conservatives (and their ecumenical partnerships with New Age Protestant evangelicals) to infuse politics with their religious beliefs obviously runs counter to the ideas of the French Revolution, which sought to uphold freedom from religion, but also of the American Revolution, which instituted freedom of religion. They are targeting the carefully erected barriers between church and state.
While I'd love to Gish Gallop through all the lies and conspirituality BS, no one has that kind of time (though most of the lies have been covered individually over time). I do find it humorous they've decided to throw Qanon under the bus.
Who is Opus Dei?
Most, if not all, catholic conservative politicians are opus dei promoted and funded, but rarely, if ever, do they admit to such. They deliberately obfiscate their alliances while openly promoting and endorsing other catholics with known ties to the organization.
Here's an example. Long time conservative republican with strong ties to Ronald Reagan, Jeffrey Langley Bell (who himself ran for senate several times in New Jersey) showed up on Mick Mulvaney secret list of visitors while Mick was running White House Office of Management and Budget.

Arthur Prince Kollie was living at a local emergency shelter, and said he suffers from anxiety, depression and multiple personality disorder. He also told investigators he'd done methamphetamine the afternoon of June 3 and hadn't slept since (murder occurred at 7 am Friday, June 4th).
Come on. As a white man even I can see that black people don't need to be taught about systemic racism to understand there are racial disparities deeply embedded in our culture and some of it is intentional because humans aren't really all that great. Texas woman with severe coronavirus dies in hospital after CATCHING FIRE
A Texas woman who was dealing with Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) in a hospital died after suffering severe burns from a defibrillator that burst into flames and caused an explosion.
Denise Jill Asaro, 69, was being treated for COVID-19 at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. On June 26, she went into cardiac arrest. Medical staff attempted to resuscitate her with a defibrillator. While using the medical device, for unknown reasons it caught fire and caused an explosion. Asaro was severely burned and later died. It remains unclear if the fire contributed to her death.
“It was literally her entire upper torso that was burned horribly, to the point of having to have a closed casket,” said Kristi Robbins, Asaro’s niece. “Who would ever expect your relative to be burnt to a crisp in a hospital?”
Asaro was a married mother of two and a grandmother. On June 2, her youngest, Aaron, succumbed to COVID-19 at the age of 47. On June 20, Father’s Day, Asaro’s husband David, 70, died of the same disease.
Asaro, her son and her husband were among 10 family members who contracted the illness recently. In a Facebook post, her sister-in-law blamed their situation on the fact that all 10 of them were unvaccinated.

Former President Donald Trump accused two Michigan state Senators of attempting to "hide the truth" about the 2020 election in Michigan after the Oversight Committee released a report finding no evidence of fraud last November.
In a statement, Trump said state Senators Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake) and Ed McBroom (R-Vulcan) were doing "everything possible" to stop another audit of the state's election and accused the report of being a "cover-up."
It's the most recent attack Trump has directed toward the November general election, falsely claiming it "very possibly rigged" in a Thursday statement. In addition to the committee's report, the state has conducted hundreds of audits on the previous election, finding no evidence of claims of fraud.
The committee's report was released after several months of interviews, public hearings, testimony, and reviews of subpoenaed documents from Livonia and Detroit. The committee heard from 87 people and looked at allegations of fraud relating to absentee ballots, accusations of harassment of poll watchers, dead voters casting ballots, and faulty machinery tabulating ballots.
The report "found no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud in Michigan’s prosecution of the 2020 election," according to the opening letter from McBroom, who chairs the committee.
Trump's statement specifically mentioned votes in Antrim County and in Detroit, which became centerpieces to the 2020 election discussion in Michigan, as well as a source of conspiracy theories about voter fraud.
In Antrim County, a series of clerical errors initially led to 6,000 ballots registering as votes for Joe Biden. But a review of those ballots later determined they were meant for Trump.
In Wayne County, the TCF center where poll workers were counting absentee ballots the day after election day was swarmed by conservative activists after accusations of ballots being delivered secretly spread online.

Workers responded to the crowd by covering the windows of the center, calling police, and denying lawful challenges to ballots. The senate report determined those responses "seem necessary to them at the time."
Trump's statement also mentioned a forensic audit, which is already being conducted in Arizona. A third-party company not affiliated with the state's election systems has overseen a review of the 2020 election that has been criticized by experts.
Some Republicans floated the idea of conducting a similar audit in Michigan, but the report concluded "another audit, a so-called forensic audit, is not justifiable."

VULCAN — Michigan state Sen. Ed McBroom had just pushed a reluctant cow into a robotic milking machine when he addressed the elephant in the room: Donald Trump, who has taken to calling him a “RINO.”
It’s been “surreal” to hear the former president invoke the name of a western Upper Peninsula dairy farmer, even if Trump is calling him a Republican in name only, McBroom told Bridge Michigan this week after completing morning chores with his wife and some of the 13 children they are raising with his sister-in-law.
“I can’t say (Trump’s) negative reaction was a surprise for me, but I don’t think he’s taken a second to read the report,” said McBroom, who lives outside Vulcan, a town of about 1,500 residents along the Wisconsin border.
That report, authored by McBroom and adopted last week by the Republican-led Senate Oversight Committee, capped a nearly eight-month investigation into the 2020 election by diving deep into conspiracy theories and debunking them with devastating specificity.
There is no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud in Michigan, and people should be confident in the results, McBroom wrote. The dead didn’t vote, ballot machines weren’t manipulated and the attorney general should investigate those making false claims for personal gain, he added.
Trump, who continues to claim the election was “rigged,” responded in predictable fashion: Over three consecutive days, he accused McBroom of a “cover up,” suggested he may be “corrupt” and urged supporters to “overthrow” the first-term senator in the 2022 election.
But on Monday morning in rural Dickinson County, McBroom had more pressing concerns: He’d woken up at 3 a.m. to care for a cow sick with mastitis, another calf had just been born and one of the children had failed to wake up on time to perform his morning tasks.
Later, over coffee at a 20-seat dining room table large enough to accommodate his entire family, McBroom acknowledged Trump’s criticism might have rattled him at a younger age. But after months of painstaking investigation, he said he’s confident in both his work and conclusions.
“I fundamentally believe that the consequences of telling the truth are never as bad as the consequences of telling a lie or trying to cheat,” said McBroom, who recently turned 40.
A conservative family man and devout Baptist who is rooted in his rural community but drives seven hours south to represent Yoopers in the Michigan Senate, McBroom is the latest in a series of unlikely punching bags for Trump.

On a personal note: recently, I got into a detailed conversation with a well-placed, LONG TIME political insider that happens to be a Democrat. As the conversation jumped around covering a number of current events type topics, the subject of the "election" of 2020 came up. I made the comment: "I've looked into this with an open mind and I've come away with the conclusion that the election was stolen for Biden in the key battleground states ... the evidence is overwhelming." To my surprise he said: "Of course it was stolen, but Trump deserved it!"
This carries A LOT of weight with me, because of who this man is. I've also been around politics for the bulk of my life, and have been personally involved in numerous elections. I knew the minute that they shut down the vote tabulation process (NEVER HAPPENS) that they were calculating what they needed to produce in order to stop the Trump LANDSLIDE ... and that is exactly what they did. And they did it WITHOUT poll watchers, who were shut out en masse in order to hide what they were doing. "Where there is smoke, there is fire."
Furthermore, Trump received just shy of 13 MILLION MORE VOTES than he did in 2016, and "lost," a political/election impossibility! What's more, Biden/Harris were two of the WEAKEST candidate to ever run ... worse than even McGovern/(Eagleton)/Shriver, that went on to lose 49 states to Nixon in '72, and yet, Biden/Harris received far more votes than any Pres. candidate in history! I’ve been thinking about this tweet a lot lately, as I watch the ongoing moral panic across the country about critical race theory (CRT). Florida banned CRT and the 1619 Project in teaching history. Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a “1836 Project” bill to promote “patriotic education” and the state’s exceptionalism. Idaho banned CRT in schools and set up an “indoctrination” task force while, according to the AP, a conservative group in Nevada suggested teachers wear body cameras to ensure they aren’t teaching CRT. Aside from how these bans are affronts to academic freedom and free speech, CRT is by no stretch of the imagination taught widely in grade school or high school.
This panic is the product of conservative media scaring by parents over what their kids are learning in school about U.S. history. The most central and most controversial claim is that CRT teaches self-hate to white kids. Though I disagree with this idea on its face, I also don’t think the recounting of history is inherently supposed to make anyone feel good. That isn’t the mission of education, nor does it promote critical thinking. But what frustrates me the most about all of this is I can’t imagine that the average parent linking CRT to “self-hate” has ever stopped to consider the messages past and current curriculums send to Black children.
We live in a country where our education systems often condenses the African-American experience as a journey from whitewashed versions of slavery to the “I Have A Dream” speech. In the service of “balance,” we already subject children or all races to “good master, happy slave” narratives, the Disney-version of colorblind Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or Black History Months that begin and end with the Civil Rights Movement.
When it comes to Black kids, their educational experiences come with an unnerving truism- you learn about Black history at home or probably won’t learn about it at all. According to a study by the Southern Poverty Law Center, high school seniors struggle with the most basic questions about slavery. What I fear about this current hysteria is that Black students across the country are going be the casualties of conservative fear-mongering. Voicing basic facts about history will be seen as biased, divisive and “anti-white,” especially in classes where they are the minority. Young Black students will get the message that they need to keep quiet about their knowledge and experiences, because classmates who watches Fox News will yell out “That’s critical race theory!”
To be clear, not all Black people have the same opinions on CRT. There are Black folk who think it is corrosive to both white and Black children alike. CRT isn’t infallible, and like many theories that seek to understand deeply complex social, political and legal structures, it has the potential to make claims ranging from solid to excessive, all of which may have varying levels of age-appropriateness in pre-college educational settings.
But what I find disingenuous about CRT critics of all races is that so many of them seem to lack the integrity or even curiosity to find out what critical race theory actually is. They use the term as an empty signifier - a word they can fill with their contempt and ideology without needing to engage with what the theory claims. Christopher Rufo, one the most proponent critics who stirred up the moral panic of critical race theory, tweeted that he wanted to make the word “toxic,” and to “annex the entire range of cultural constructions unpopular with Americans.” This is anti-intellectual at its core. Because of how critics embed all kinds of ideas into critical race theory- from race essentialism to Marxism- I don’t quite know which parts of the African-American experience would be “safe” enough for the rest of the classroom. This is particularly troubling for kids who are growing up in a generation where videos of Black men, women and children being killed by police are common. And we already know the toll that racism has taken on Black children.
How can we seriously ask the majority of young Black students to ignore hundreds of years of history, data, scholarship, and their own eyes and ears in order to reach the conclusion that systemic racism is a myth; that racial disparities are merely indicative of cultural (maybe even genetic) differences that arise from seemingly nowhere? How can we teach that things like the Constitution or the European Enlightenment permeate our society to this day, but centuries of years of slavery and Jim Crow have no effect on contemporary social conditions?
When I see the fury surrounding CRT, I see a country passing on its baggage to another generation of kids of all colors. I see (not only, but particularly) white parents asserting that their children don’t have to pay their dues- to wrestle with the difficult history of this country, and to learn from it so they can help build a better future. And I see the intellectual and emotional burden being placed on the backs of Black children.

But I'm not at all for CRT as a subset of or substitution for intersectionality, which posits oppressors and oppressed, victors and victims, in a collective fashion. And I won't buy into the position that being opposed to CRT is tantamount to racism (which makes no sense when there are a number of Blacks who oppose the ideology). That's playing into the Marxist divide and conquer strategy inherent in such ideologies as CRT and intersectionality.

Both Pennsylvania & Wisconsin have Republican legislatures that made (or deliberately left in place) election law that the absentee votes couldn't even begin to be processed & counted until the start time of 7 am on election day. Michigan and Georgia, both also with Republican legislatures, permitted some processing of ballots (Michigan allowed processing to begin 11/2 big whoop) but also delayed the commencement of counting until 11/3. Likewise, Ohio banned counting but did permit early processing which included scanning by tabulators (thus "counting") was just a matter of adding up what the tabulators had already "processed").

Point is...for your theory to hold water it would mean, at the very least, that these 4 republican legislatures were in on it. These legislatures were told it would take days to count all the ballots this year. The influx of absentee ballots was due to Covid and new state laws permitting more absentee voting. Absentee voting has been on the rise for over a decade now so this isn't new. But covid "never happened" before and the sheer number of ballots compared to previous elections necessitated days to count. Of course, places had to shut down so election workers could rest and come back for another 12-18 hour day of counting ballots. It also meant the biggest cities with the most absentee ballots would take the longest. Republicans set this situation up.
Election observers were not shut out in mass. You have no idea what you are talking about.
There is always room for error. We'll really never know for sure who won Gore v Bush election in Florida because Republicans stopped the recount. The difference was 100's of votes in just one state. In 2020, Biden slaughtered Trump. It wasn't even close. The sheer number of votes you are surmising were somehow added to Biden's vote tallies would involve a conspiracy the likes of which have never been seen. Multiple ballots boxes stuffed in multiple states and 100's of counties. You seem to be suggesting both the election tabulation machines AND absentee balloting process was manipulated in multiple states involving an even bigger conspiracy.
Sure, you may harbor suspicions. I was/am still suspicious about the 2016 election and all those rural white voters who never voted before at unmonitored polling places. I think ESS voting systems are/were probably corrupt going back to when they were Diebold voting equipment in Gore v Bush. But I'm not going to submit that that is a fact as that would be a lie. But isn't it strange how Georgia, which hadn't been close to being Democratic-leaning in years switches away from ESS equipment and suddenly flips? Maybe it's not the new systems with a paper audit trail that was completely audited and verified that was cheating, so maybe the prior equipment was and such cheating systems gave you unrealistic hope for your candidate?

(LifeSiteNews) – The election in the United States was manipulated massively in order to favor Joe Biden. And not only that, the mainstream media’s narrative about the election is false but its power of influence is so immense, it’s creating dvision among the best defenders of the truth.
This past week has been unbelievable! We need to pray like never before. The truth has become obvious in some ways, yet the falsehoods are so effective that the vast majority of good people are being deceived.
What is currently happening in the U.S. seems capable enough of destroying the conservative movement. It also has the potential to be used by the Left all over the world as a cudgel to make defenders of faith, life, and family out to be crazed violent enemies of the people.
But anyone should be able to see, at the same time, the very tools used to steal the election of 2020, since they are now at play like never before. The mainstream media, and even more than that, the social media monopolies, have been the biggest manipulators of a fair election. They have lied outright and concealed the truth. They have censored even the President of the United States with impunity – and no one on either side even disputes this.
Moreover, earlier this year I interviewed on this show Robert Epstein, an atheist Jewish Democrat who, despite his political leanings, was appalled at the election manipulation being undertaken by Google and the other Big Tech social media giants such as Twitter and FaceBook. He scientifically demonstrated the massive vote manipulation that was possible and showed that it was in effect.
Beyond even this, we had the hearings into voter fraud which showed testimony of hundreds of sworn affidavits and the manipulations in courts which forbade the evidence from ever being presented. Furthermore, we had video of the fraud being carried out and a heroic sting operation which demonstrated the voter fraud live for all to see. Except hardly any did see it.
Why?
Because the mainstream media is under almost total control by the left.

People suggest constantly that there is no evidence of voter fraud. That argument hinges on the lower courts having rejected the attempts to demonstrate that. Well, there is testimony from a lawyer for the Trump team working in Nevada. He details all the ways his team verified the fraud, and then tells of how they were unable to use the evidence in court because their access to the information was delayed so long that the date set by the court to submit the evidence had passed.
And even beyond that, there is much evidence of the voter fraud and manipulation on video. We saw Republican poll watchers being denied access over and over again. And let me give a hat tip here to Project Veritas which conducted many sting operations demonstrating massive voter fraud in the act.
So, yes, America is being fraudulently handed over to the Global Reset crowd with Joe Biden being the lead puppet for the moment. And the biggest culprit is the mainstream media and the tech giants that have manipulated the election, controlled the flow of information, and used their near-total monopoly to bamboozle the public worldwide. They are pulling accounts on the political right and center.
This is a battle for truth. Not for Donald Trump. At LifeSite, we have openly criticized Trump for pushing the LGBT agenda and will always do that without apology. But blaming Trump for the current situation is ludicrous. The manipulation here is more plain and obvious than it has ever been before.

Then defeat CRT intellectually. In America we don't burn books and ideas. Opposing CRT isn't tanamount to being a racist (I oppose it) but using such opposition as a political dog whistle, overreacting to something not really happening and maybe even disrespecting a 14 year olds girls death by re-framing it and suggesting she may be the first of many like things to expect if CRT "indoctrination" is allowed in "our" classrooms is a bit hyperbolic or disengenous. Assuming you have black friends, would you have sent such link specificially to such friend with the same assertion? I'm guessing you wouldn't have even if such black friend opposed CRT too.
I don't have the solution to racism. I do not think there will be a final solution until Jesus returns. Hierarchies exist and people gravitate towards their groups, starting with like-appearing family. Unlike public education, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and Google are all private companies generally free to operate their domains as they deem fit in the best interests of their shareholders. The real ironic thing is suddenly when conservatives get "deplatformed" for violating the published and agreed to terms of service (generally posting deliberate misinformation versus ideas), conservative snowflakes after years of promoting laissez-faire economic policies while sucking at the teet of big corporations (even making them essentially people with their own right to free speech ala Citizen's United) are all in on Marxism and ready to socialize and regulate these "out of control companies with too much power". I don't see it being taught in high schools. Any and all discussion about race is not CRT. I'm against CRT like I'm against Marxism. I'm not about to get all up and in arms, because colleges teach classes on Communism and Socialism and read books like the Communist Manifesto and/or Mein Kampf. I'm not a teacher but I think it's fine if high schooler's discuss briefly the definitions of the words Communism, Socialism, Racism, hierarchies, etc. in a unit in their history or current events classes. Education has to, at times, stay relevant and engaging and now that this debate is so out in the open drawing way more attention than it deserves, hiding it might only make it more intriguing.

I don't know how "mandated" this is? It appears to be offering grants and funding to teaching and professional training incorporating such. Writing in the Tablet, Lee Smith explains what coalesced the disparate parts of the establishment into a unified force against Donald Trump and his MAGA policies. It was globalization, or more specifically the China trade.
Why did they [the corporate and political class] trade with an authoritarian regime and send millions of American manufacturing jobs off to China, impoverishing working Americans? Because it made them rich. They salved their consciences by telling themselves they had no choice but to deal with China: it was big, productive, and efficient, and its rise was inevitable. And besides, the American workers hurt by the deal deserved to be punished — who could defend a class of reactionary and racist ideological naysayers standing in the way of what was best for progress?
President Trump was elected to stand up for America's long abused middle class. He attacked the self-serving establishment, naming names. Not used to such criticism and fearing that their rice bowls would be smashed by the MAGA hammer, the elite gained a powerful motive for solidarity against President Trump. They formed what Smith calls the China class. With this class consciousness, the elites joined to resist Trump's MAGA policies by means fair and foul. This further cemented their relationship with their Chinese patrons.
This speaks to just how successful Chinese money has been in penetrating and corrupting America. The height of irony is that this money came from the deindustrialization and impoverishment of the U.S. itself. Smith quotes General (ret.) Robert Spalding, a former Trump administration official, as saying of Chinese influence: "It's so pervasive, it's better to ask who is not tied to China." Chinese influence is like a cancer that has metastasized throughout America.
At the same time, the American establishment came to admire and then emulate Chinese techno-autocracy. The elite had long decided that the two-party systems was retarding progress and their path to further wealth. Democracy was messy. The Republicans with their base emphasizing moral values and patriotism were regarded as particularly reactionary. Hence, the China class found its center in the Democrat Party. To be sure, many Republicans are in the China class. Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell is one. His shipbuilding billionaire father-in-law James Chao has benefited greatly from a cozy relationship with the Chinese Communist Party. This could go a long way in explaining McConnell's hatred for Donald Trump. But even so, Republicans like McConnell are still only the junior partners to the Democrats in the China class.
Smith says the installment of Joe Biden in the Oval Office "marks the hegemony of an American oligarchy that sees its relationship with China as a shield and sword against their own countrymen." He notes that these people "are not simply contemptuous of a political system that recognizes the natural rights of all its citizens that are endowed by our creator; they despise in particular the notion that those they rule have the same rights they do."
Smith sees what is happening today is an eerie repeat of what happened after Athens lost the Peloponnesian War in 404 B.C. Citing Machiavelli's The Prince, Smith says Sparta installed a government friendly to itself in Athens. The pro-Sparta oligarchy used its patrons' victory to undo the rights of citizens and settle scores with their domestic rivals, exiling and executing them and confiscating their wealth. The reign of the Thirty Tyrants lasted less than one year, but in that time, it is estimated they murdered about five percent of Athens's population while exiling many more notable Athenians and taking their property.
Athens was fortunate. It had only thirty tyrants, while we have countless sellouts to China in positions of authority. The good news is that the China class has been outed. This class may have the power now, but its members can't withstand the disinfectant of exposure. After all, when you scrape away the rhetoric, what the China class is engaged in is actually treason. In time, the awareness of this will grow and take its toll.

X is about as "Christian" as Karl Marx when he really broke bad.
I can't speak for X, but I can speak for myself. As I became born again, I became magnetically drawn to political thinking that is grounded in respect for the individual conscience. I had long felt alienated from Republicans, and I squirmed uncomfortably among them, yet I remained drawn like a magnet to them.
I felt repelled from Democrats as if they were a magnet facing the wrong way toward me.
I don't think historically I always would have felt this way no matter the issue or situation. I remain critical of the George W. Bush years.
Insofar as the politics of identity, the deeper issue is a wounded pride. Real Christianity can heal wounded pride, and there are many reasons that could be analyzed philosophically.
I think as a woman I used to feel like children weren't important, there were too many of them in the world, and the most important activities involved achieving material and technological progress for the human race. A Christian would notice that Jesus was low tech and cared about the redemption of people, period. He could have no doubt invented anything He wanted to. He was the Word from the beginning. He was involved in the creation of all things. He know doubt knew everything we know today about physics, and more.
I imagine if I were a black born again Christian, knowing I'm equal in God's eyes would lessen my feeling of wounded pride if I perceived that the mirror white people were giving me was not giving me a reflection I liked.
Knowing that we can't take our success and treasure with us to the next life, and that we have all the power we need to "make it big" in the next life (by the grace of God through the sacrifice of Jesus), takes away quite a bit of material anxiety and resentment.
I don't feel the same financial anxiety I used to feel. I never have again.
It should be very transformative such that one does not feel the same wounded pride, the same resentment, the same covetousness, the same anxiety, etc.
Another transformation that should happen is that one's relationships with other people involve being nice to them for the motive of love and empathy, voluntarily and from the heart -- and not just out of fear or anxiety or utility.
So if you're thinking that way you don't want to force people to be nice to your group or intimidate them into pretending to think only nice thoughts and pretending to feel only nice feelings about you.
There are so many inner transformations that would happen that would transform somebody who had been steeped in any kind of politics of identity.
That doesn't mean the born again Christian would then flip and take on the egotistical group politics of somebody different. Relinquishing it for oneself doesn't then mean obeisance before somebody else doing it.
Because there is one more transformation that happens, and it is greater honesty, and that includes sometimes speaking truth to power. It sometimes leads to conflict due to lack of enabling.
None of this becomes instantly and automatically perfect, but all of these things and more should gradually unfold in the inner heart and mind of the born again Christian who had previously been involved in politics of identity. That is my opinion and my perspective.

The deal that the American elite chose to make with China has a precedent in the history of Athens and Sparta

In Chapter 5 of The Prince, Niccolo Machiavelli describes three options for how a conquering power might best treat those it has defeated in war. The first is to ruin them; the second is to rule directly; the third is to create “therein a state of the few which might keep it friendly to you.”
The example Machiavelli gives of the last is the friendly government Sparta established in Athens upon defeating it after 27 years of war in 404 BCE. For the upper caste of an Athenian elite already contemptuous of democracy, the city’s defeat in the Peloponnesian War confirmed that Sparta’s system was preferable. It was a high-spirited military aristocracy ruling over a permanent servant class, the helots, who were periodically slaughtered to condition them to accept their subhuman status. Athenian democracy by contrast gave too much power to the low-born. The pro-Sparta oligarchy used their patrons’ victory to undo the rights of citizens, and settle scores with their domestic rivals, exiling and executing them and confiscating their wealth.
The Athenian government disloyal to Athens’ laws and contemptuous of its traditions was known as the Thirty Tyrants, and understanding its role and function helps explain what is happening in America today.
For my last column I spoke with The New York Times’ Thomas Friedman about an article he wrote more than a decade ago, during the first year of Barack Obama’s presidency. His important piece documents the exact moment when the American elite decided that democracy wasn’t working for them. Blaming the Republican Party for preventing them from running roughshod over the American public, they migrated to the Democratic Party in the hopes of strengthening the relationships that were making them rich.
A trade consultant told Friedman: “The need to compete in a globalized world has forced the meritocracy, the multinational corporate manager, the Eastern financier and the technology entrepreneur to reconsider what the Republican Party has to offer. In principle, they have left the party, leaving behind not a pragmatic coalition but a group of ideological naysayers.”
In the more than 10 years since Friedman’s column was published, the disenchanted elite that the Times columnist identified has further impoverished American workers while enriching themselves. The one-word motto they came to live by was globalism—that is, the freedom to structure commercial relationships and social enterprises without reference to the well-being of the particular society in which they happened to make their livings and raise their children.
Undergirding the globalist enterprise was China’s accession to the World Trade Organization in 2001. For decades, American policymakers and the corporate class said they saw China as a rival, but the elite that Friedman described saw enlightened Chinese autocracy as a friend and even as a model—which was not surprising, given that the Chinese Communist Party became their source of power, wealth, and prestige. Why did they trade with an authoritarian regime and send millions of American manufacturing jobs off to China thereby impoverish working Americans? Because it made them rich. They salved their consciences by telling themselves they had no choice but to deal with China: It was big, productive, and efficient and its rise was inevitable. And besides, the American workers hurt by the deal deserved to be punished—who could defend a class of reactionary and racist ideological naysayers standing in the way of what was best for progress?
Returning those jobs to America, along with ending foreign wars and illegal immigration, was the core policy promise of Donald Trump’s presidency, and the source of his surprise victory in 2016. Trump was hardly the first to make the case that the corporate and political establishment’s trade relationship with China had sold out ordinary Americans. Former Democratic congressman and 1988 presidential candidate Richard Gephardt was the leading voice in an important but finally not very influential group of elected Democratic Party officials and policy experts who warned that trading with a state that employed slave labor would cost American jobs and sacrifice American honor. The only people who took Trump seriously were the more than 60 million American voters who believed him when he said he’d fight the elites to get those jobs back.
What he called “The Swamp” appeared at first just to be a random assortment of industries, institutions, and personalities that seemed to have nothing in common, outside of the fact they were excoriated by the newly elected president. But Trump’s incessant attacks on that elite gave them collective self-awareness as well as a powerful motive for solidarity. Together, they saw that they represented a nexus of public and private sector interests that shared not only the same prejudices and hatreds, cultural tastes and consumer habits but also the same center of gravity—the U.S.-China relationship. And so, the China Class was born.
Connections that might have once seemed tenuous or nonexistent now became lucid under the light of Trump’s scorn, and the reciprocal scorn of the elite that loathed him.
A decade ago, no one would’ve put NBA superstar LeBron James and Apple CEO Tim Cook in the same family album, but here they are now, linked by their fantastic wealth owing to cheap Chinese manufacturing (Nike sneakers, iPhones, etc.) and a growing Chinese consumer market. The NBA’s $1.5 billion contract with digital service provider Tencent made the Chinese firm the league’s biggest partner outside America. In gratitude, these two-way ambassadors shared the wisdom of the Chinese Communist Party with their ignorant countrymen. After an an NBA executive tweeted in defense of Hong Kong dissidents, social justice activist King LeBron told Americans to watch their tongues. “Even though yes, we do have freedom of speech,” said James, “it can be a lot of negative that comes with it.”
Because of Trump’s pressure on the Americans who benefited extravagantly from the U.S.-China relationship, these strange bedfellows acquired what Marxists call class consciousness—and joined together to fight back, further cementing their relationships with their Chinese patrons. United now, these disparate American institutions lost any sense of circumspection or shame about cashing checks from the Chinese Communist Party, no matter what horrors the CCP visited on the prisoners of its slave labor camps and no matter what threat China’s spy services and the People’s Liberation Army might pose to national security. Think tanks and research institutions like the Atlantic Council, the Center for American Progress, the EastWest Institute, the Carter Center, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and others gorged themselves on Chinese money. The world-famous Brookings Institution had no scruples about publishing a report funded by Chinese telecom company Huawei that praised Huawei technology.
The billions that China gave to major American research universities, like $58 million to Stanford, alarmed U.S. law enforcement, which warned of Chinese counterintelligence efforts to steal sensitive research. But the schools and their name faculty were in fact in the business of selling that research, much of it paid for directly by the U.S. government—which is why Harvard and Yale among other big-name schools appear to have systematically underreported the large amounts that China had gifted them.
P.S. One of the things the China class does is to allow China to be and do everything that America can't, and that includes air pollution to genocide. These are not good things, but you see the game at work, making China strong and America weak. America can never be good enough to be praise worthy; China can never be bad enough to be accountable. You see it's the worst politics of identity of all, and it's on the global stage.
China can only be held to very low expectations. China can't be held accountable to the same standards. China gets to discriminate against the United States in the present and the future to make up for past American power.
You see the game. It's the same demoralizing game.
Indeed, many of academia’s pay-for-play deals with the CCP were not particularly subtle. In June 2020, a Harvard professor who received a research grant of $15 million in taxpayer money was indicted for lying about his $50,000 per month work on behalf of a CCP institution to “recruit, and cultivate high-level scientific talent in furtherance of China’s scientific development, economic prosperity and national security.”
But if Donald Trump saw decoupling the United States from China as a way to dismantle the oligarchy that hated him and sent American jobs abroad, he couldn’t follow through on the vision. After correctly identifying the sources of corruption in our elite, the reasons for the impoverishment of the middle classes, and the threats foreign and domestic to our peace, he failed to staff and prepare to win the war he asked Americans to elect him to fight.
And because it was true that China was the source of the China Class’ power, the novel coronavirus coming out of Wuhan became the platform for its coup de grace. So Americans became prey to an anti-democratic elite that used the coronavirus to demoralize them; lay waste to small businesses; leave them vulnerable to rioters who are free to steal, burn, and kill; keep their children from school and the dying from the last embrace of their loved ones; and desecrate American history, culture, and society; and defame the country as systemically racist in order to furnish the predicate for why ordinary Americans in fact deserved the hell that the elite’s private and public sector proxies had already prepared for them.
For nearly a year, American officials have purposefully laid waste to our economy and society for the sole purpose of arrogating more power to themselves while the Chinese economy has gained on America’s. China’s lockdowns had nothing to do with the difference in outcomes. Lockdowns are not public health measures to reduce the spread of a virus. They are political instruments, which is why Democratic Party officials who put their constituents under repeated lengthy lockdowns, like New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, are signaling publicly that it is imperative they be allowed to reopen immediately now that Trump is safely gone.
That Democratic officials intentionally destroyed lives and ended thousands of them by sending the ill to infect the elderly in nursing homes is irrelevant to America’s version of the Thirty Tyrants. The job was to boost coronavirus casualties in order to defeat Trump and they succeeded. As with Athens’ anti-democratic faction, America’s best and brightest long ago lost its way. At the head of the Thirty Tyrants was Critias, one of Socrates’ best students, a poet and dramatist. He may have helped save Socrates from the regime’s wrath, and yet the philosopher appears to have regretted that his method, to question everything, fed Critias’ sweeping disdain for tradition. Once in power, Critias turned his nihilism on Athens and destroyed the city.

The poisoned embrace between American elites and China began nearly 50 years ago when Henry Kissinger saw that opening relations between the two then-enemies would expose the growing rift between China and the more threatening Soviet Union. At the heart of the fallout between the two communist giants was the Soviet leadership’s rejection of Stalin, which the Chinese would see as the beginning of the end of the Soviet communist system—and thus it was a mistake they wouldn’t make.
Meanwhile, Kissinger’s geopolitical maneuver became the cornerstone of his historical legacy. It also made him a wealthy man selling access to Chinese officials. In turn, Kissinger pioneered the way for other former high-ranking policymakers to engage in their own foreign influence-peddling operations, like William Cohen, defense secretary in the administration of Bill Clinton, who greased the way for China to gain permanent most favored nation trade status in 2000 and become a cornerstone of the World Trade Organization. The Cohen Group has two of its four overseas offices in China, and includes a number of former top officials, including Trump’s former Defense Secretary James Mattis, who recently failed to disclose his work for the Cohen Group when he criticized the Trump administration’s “with us or against us” approach to China in an editorial. “The economic prosperity of U.S. allies and partners hinges on strong trade and investment relationships with Beijing,” wrote Mattis, who was literally being paid by China for taking exactly that position.
Yet it’s unlikely that Kissinger foresaw China as a cash cow for former American officials when he and President Richard M. Nixon traveled to the Chinese capital that Westerners then called Peking in 1972. “The Chinese felt that Mao had to die before they could open up,” says a former Trump administration official. “Mao was still alive when Nixon and Kissinger were there, so it’s unlikely they could’ve envisioned the sorts of reforms that began in 1979 under Deng Xiaoping’s leadership. But even in the 1980s China wasn’t competitive with the United States. It was only in the 1990s with the debates every year about granting China most favored nation status in trade that China became a commercial rival”—and a lucrative partner.
The chief publicist of the post-Cold War order was Francis Fukuyama, who in his 1992 book The End of History argued that with the fall of the Berlin Wall Western liberal democracy represented the final form of government. What Fukuyama got wrong after the fall of the Berlin Wall wasn’t his assessment of the strength of political forms; rather it was the depth of his philosophical model. He believed that with the end of the nearly half-century-long superpower standoff, the historical dialectic pitting conflicting political models against each other had been resolved. In fact, the dialectic just took another turn.
Just after defeating communism in the Soviet Union, America breathed new life into the communist party that survived. And instead of Western democratic principles transforming the CCP, the American establishment acquired a taste for Eastern techno-autocracy. Tech became the anchor of the U.S.-China relationship, with CCP funding driving Silicon Valley startups, thanks largely to the efforts of Dianne Feinstein, who, after Kissinger, became the second-most influential official driving the U.S.-CCP relationship for the next 20 years.
In 1978, as the newly elected mayor of San Francisco, Feinstein befriended Jiang Zemin, then the mayor of Shanghai and eventually president of China. As mayor of America’s tech epicenter, her ties to China helped the growing sector attract Chinese investment and made the state the world’s third-largest economy. Her alliance with Jiang also helped make her investor husband, Richard Blum, a wealthy man. As senator, she pushed for permanent MFN trade status for China by rationalizing China’s human rights violations, while her friend Jiang consolidated his power and became the Communist Party’s general secretary by sending tanks into Tiananmen Square. Feinstein defended him. “China had no local police,” Feinstein said that Jiang had told her. “Hence the tanks,” the senator from California reassuringly explained. “But that’s the past. One learns from the past. You don’t repeat it. I think China has learned a lesson.”
Yet the past actually should have told Feinstein’s audience in Washington a different story. The United States didn’t trade with Moscow or allow Russians to make large campaign donations or enter into business partnerships with their spouses. Cold War American leadership understood that such practices would have opened the door to Moscow and allowed it to directly influence American politics and society in dangerous ways. Manufacturing our goods in their factories or allowing them to buy ours and ship them overseas would’ve made technology and intellectual property vulnerable.
But it wasn’t just about jeopardizing national security; it was also about exposing America to a system contradictory to American values. Throughout the period, America defined itself in opposition to how we conceived of the Soviets. Ronald Reagan was thought crass for referring to the Soviet Union as the “Evil Empire,” but trade and foreign policy from the end of WWII to 1990 reflected that this was a consensus position—Cold War American leadership didn’t want the country coupled to a one-party authoritarian state.
The industrialist Armand Hammer was famous because he was the American doing business with Moscow. His perspective was useful not because of his unique insights into Soviet society, politics, and business culture that he often shared with the American media, but because it was understood that he was presenting the views that the politburo wanted disseminated to an American audience. Today, America has thousands of Armand Hammers, all making the case for the source of their wealth, prestige, and power.
It started with Bill Clinton’s 1994 decision to decouple human rights from trade status. He’d entered the White House promising to focus on human rights, in contrast to the George H.W. Bush administration, and after two years in office made an about face. “We need to place our relationship into a larger and more productive framework,” Clinton said. American human rights groups and labor unions were appalled. Clinton’s decision sent a clear message, said then AFL-CIO President Lane Kirkland, “no matter what America says about democracy and human rights, in the final analysis profits, not people, matter most.” Some Democrats, like then Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, were opposed, while Republicans like John McCain supported Clinton’s move. The head of Clinton’s National Economic Council, Robert E. Rubin, predicted that China “will become an ever larger and more important trading partner.”
More than two decades later, the number of American industries and companies that lobbied against Trump administration measures attempting to decouple Chinese technology from its American counterparts is a staggering measure of how closely two rival systems that claim to stand for opposing sets of values and practices have been integrated. Companies like Ford, FedEx, and Honeywell, as well as Qualcomm and other semiconductor manufacturers that fought to continue selling chips to Huawei, all exist with one leg in America and the other leg planted firmly in America’s chief geopolitical rival. To protect both halves of their business, they soft-sell the issue by calling China a competitor in order to obscure their role in boosting a dangerous rival.
Nearly every major American industry has a stake in China. From Wall Street—Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley— to hospitality. A Marriott Hotel employee was fired when Chinese officials objected to his liking a tweet about Tibet. They all learned to play by CCP rules.
“It’s so pervasive, it’s better to ask who’s not tied into China,” says former Trump administration official Gen. (Ret.) Robert Spalding.
Unsurprisingly, the once-reliably Republican U.S. Chamber of Commerce was in the forefront of opposition to Trump’s China policies—against not only proposed tariffs but also his call for American companies to start moving critical supply chains elsewhere, even in the wake of a pandemic. The National Defense Industrial Association recently complained of a law forbidding defense contractors from using certain Chinese technologies. “Just about all contractors doing work with the federal government,” said a spokesman for the trade group, “would have to stop.”
Even the Trump administration was split between hawks and accommodationists, caustically referred to by the former as “Panda Huggers.” The majority of Trump officials were in the latter camp, most notably Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, a former Hollywood producer. While the film industry was the first and loudest to complain that China was stealing its intellectual property, it eventually came to partner with, and appease, Beijing. Studios are not able to tap into China’s enormous market without observing CCP redlines. For example, in the upcoming sequel to Top Gun, Paramount offered to blur the Taiwan and Japan patches on Tom Cruise’s “Maverick” jacket for the Chinese release of the film, but CCP censors insisted the patches not be shown in any version anywhere in the world.
In the Trump administration, says former Trump adviser Spalding, “there was a very large push to continue unquestioned cooperation with China. On the other side was a smaller number of those who wanted to push back.”
Apple, Nike, and Coca Cola even lobbied against the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. On Trump’s penultimate day in office, his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the United States has “determined that the People’s Republic of China is committing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang, China, targeting Uyghur Muslims and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups.” That makes a number of major American brands that use forced Uyghur labor—including, according to a 2020 Australian study, Nike, Adidas, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and General Motors—complicit in genocide.
The idea that countries that scorn basic human and democratic rights should not be directly funded by American industry and given privileged access to the fruits of U.S. government-funded research and technology that properly belongs to the American people is hardly a partisan idea—and has, or should have, little to do with Donald Trump. But the historical record will show that the melding of the American and Chinese elites reached its apogee during Trump’s administration, as the president made himself a focal point for the China Class, which had adopted the Democratic Party as its main political vehicle. That’s not to say establishment Republicans are cut out of the pro-China oligarchy—Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell’s shipbuilder billionaire father-in-law James Chao has benefited greatly from his relationship with the CCP, including college classmate Jiang Zemin. Gifts from the Chao family have catapulted McConnell to only a few slots below Feinstein in the list of wealthiest senators.
Riding the media tsunami of Trump hatred, the China Class cemented its power within state institutions and security bureaucracies that have long been Democratic preserves—and whose salary-class inhabitants were eager not to be labeled as “collaborators” with the president they ostensibly served. Accommodation with even the worst and most threatening aspects of the Chinese communist regime, ongoing since the late 1990s, was put on fast-forward. Talk about how Nike made its sneakers in Chinese slave labor camps was no longer fashionable. News that China was stealing American scientific and military secrets, running large spy rings in Silicon Valley and compromising congressmen like Eric Swalwell, paying large retainers to top Ivy League professors in a well-organized program of intellectual theft, or in any way posed a danger to its own people or to its neighbors, let alone to the American way of life, were muted and dismissed as pro-Trump propaganda.
The Central Intelligence Agency openly protected Chinese efforts to undermine American institutions. CIA management bullied intelligence analysts to alter their assessment of Chinese influence and interference in our political process so it wouldn’t be used to support policies they disagreed with—Trump’s policies. It’s no wonder that protecting America is not CIA management’s most urgent equity—the technology that stores the agency’s information is run by Amazon Web Services, owned by China’s No. 1 American distributor, Jeff Bezos.
For those who actually understood what the Chinese were doing, partisanship was a distinctly secondary concern. Chinese behavior was authentically alarming—as was the seeming inability of core American security institutions to take it seriously. “Through the 1980s, people who advanced the interests of foreign powers whose ideas were inimical to republican form of government were ostracized,” says a former Obama administration intelligence official. “But with the advent of globalism, they made excuses for China, even bending the intelligence to fit their preferences. During the Bush and Obama years, the standard assessment was that the Chinese have no desire to build a blue-water navy. It was inconvenient to their view. China now has a third aircraft carrier in production.”
Loathing Trump provided their political excuse, but the American security and defense establishment had their own interest in turning a blind eye to China. Twenty years of squandering men, money, and prestige on military engagements that began in George W. Bush’s “War on Terror” have proved to be of little strategic value to the United States. However, deploying Americans to provide security in Middle East killing fields has vastly benefited Beijing. Last month Chinese energy giant Zen Hua took advantage of a weak Iraqi economy when it paid $2 billion for a five-year oil supply of 130,000 barrels a day. Should prices go up, the deal permits China to resell the oil.
In Afghanistan, the large copper, metal, and minerals mines whose security American troops still ostensibly ensure are owned by Chinese companies. And because Afghanistan borders Xinjiang, Xi Jinping is worried that “after the United States pulls troops out of Afghanistan, terrorist organizations positioned on the frontiers of Afghanistan and Pakistan may quickly infiltrate into Central Asia.” In other words, American troops are deployed abroad in places like Afghanistan less to protect American interests than to provide security for China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
“There’s a belief that we are not in the same type of conflict with them as we were with the USSR,” says the former Obama official. “But we are.” The problem is that virtually all of the American establishment—which is centered in the Democratic Party—is firmly on the other side.
As late as the summer of 2019, Trump looked like he was headed for a second term in the White House. Not only was the economy soaring and unemployment at record lows, he was rallying on the very field on which he’d chosen to confront his opponents. Trump’s trade war with Beijing showed he was serious about forcing American companies to move their supply chains. In July, top American tech firms like Dell and HP announced they were going to shift a large portion of their production outside of China. Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet said they were also planning to move some of their manufacturing elsewhere.
It was at exactly this same moment, in late June and early July of 2019 that the residents of Wuhan began to fill the streets, angry that officials responsible for the health and prosperity of the city’s 11 million people had betrayed them. They were sick, and feared getting sicker. The elderly gasped for breath. Marchers held up banners saying, “we don’t want to be poisoned, we just need a breath of fresh air.” Parents worried for their children’s lives. There was fear that the ill had suffered permanent damage to their immune and nervous systems.
Authorities censored social media accounts, photos and videos of the protests, and undercover policemen watched for troublemakers and detained the most vocal. With businesses forced shut, there was nowhere for protesters to hide. Some were carted off in vans. They’d been warned by the authorities: “Public security organizations will resolutely crack down on illegal criminal acts such as malicious incitement and provocation.”
What sent the residents of Wuhan to the streets at the time wasn’t COVID-19—which wouldn’t begin its spread until the winter. In the early summer of 2019, what threatened public health in Wuhan was the plague of air pollution. This is a hitherto untold part of the story of America’s ghastly last year.
To deal with the mounds of garbage poisoning the atmosphere, authorities planned to build a waste incineration plant—a plan that rightly alarmed the people who lived there. (In 2013, five incineration plants in Wuhan were found to emit dangerous pollutants.) Other cities had similarly taken to the streets to protest against air pollution—Xiamen in 2007, Shanghai in 2015, Chengdu in 2016, Qingyuan in 2017—each time sending waves of panic through CCP leadership, which was fearful of the slightest echo of the 1989 pro-democracy protests in Tiananmen Square and of the prospect of unruly democracy protests in Hong Kong making their way to the mainland and igniting a popular brushfire. What if unrest spread from one city to the next, with the entire country, 1.4 billion people, eventually spinning out of control?
The way to keep unrest from going viral, the CCP had learned, was to quarantine it. The party has shown itself especially adept at neutralizing the country’s minority populations, first the Tibetans, and most recently the Turkic ethnic Muslim minority Uyghurs, through mass quarantines and incarcerations, managed through networks of electronic surveillance that paved the way to prisons and slave labor camps. By 2019, the grim fate of China’s Uyghurs had become a matter of concern—whether heartfelt or simply public relations-oriented—even among many who profited hugely from their forced labor.
The country’s 13.5 million Uyghurs are concentrated in Xinjiang, or East Turkestan, a region in northwestern China roughly the size of Iran, rich in coal, oil, and natural gas. Bordering Pakistan, Xinjiang is a terminus point for critical supply routes of the Belt and Road Initiative, Xi’s $1 trillion project to create a global Chinese sphere of interest. Any potential disruptions of the BRI constitute a threat to vital Chinese interests. Xi saw an April 2014 attack in which Uyghur fighters stabbed more than 150 people at a train station as an opportunity to crack down.

Prepare for a “smashing, obliterating offensive,” Xi told police officers and troops. His deputies issued sweeping orders: “Round up everyone who should be rounded up.” Officials who showed mercy were themselves detained, humiliated and held up as an example for disobeying “the party central leadership’s strategy for Xinjiang.”
According to a November 2019, New York Times report, Chinese authorities were most worried about Uyghur students returning home from school outside the province. The students had “widespread social ties across the entire country” and used social media whose “impact,” officials feared, was “widespread and difficult to eradicate.” The task was to quarantine news of what was really happening inside the detention camps. When the students asked where their loved ones were and what happened to them, officials were advised to tell “students that their relatives had been ‘infected’ by the ‘virus’ of Islamic radicalism and must be quarantined and cured.”
But it wasn’t just those most likely to carry out terrorist attacks—young men—who were subject to China’s lockdown policy. According to the documents, officials were told that “even grandparents and family members who seemed too old to carry out violence could not be spared.”
When a real virus hit in the fall of 2019, Chinese authorities followed the same protocol, quarantining not just prospective troublemakers but everyone in Wuhan in the hope of avoiding an even larger public outcry than the one they’d quelled in the same city just months before.
There is a good reason why lockdowns—quarantining those who are not sick—had never been previously employed as a public health measure. The leading members of a city, state, or nation do not imprison its own unless they mean to signal that they are imposing collective punishment on the population at large. It had never been used before as a public health measure because it is a widely recognized instrument of political repression.
At the end of December 2019, Chinese authorities began locking down social media accounts mentioning the new virus, doctors who warned of it or spoke about it with their colleagues were reprimanded and another, allegedly infected by COVID-19, died. All domestic travel in and out of Wuhan was stopped. If the purpose of the lockdowns was really to prevent spread of the contagion, it’s worth noting that international flights continued. Rather, it appears that the domestic travel ban, like the social media censorship, was to keep news of the government’s blunder from spreading throughout China and leading to massive, perhaps uncontrollable, unrest.
If Wuhan’s streets had filled in June and July to protest the authorities’ deadly incompetence when they concealed plans for an incinerator that would sicken the population of one city, how would the Chinese public respond upon discovering that the source for a respiratory illness destined to plague all of the country wasn’t a freak accident of nature that occurred in a wet market, as officials claimed, but the CCP’s own Wuhan Institute of Virology?
In January, the Trump administration’s former Deputy National Security Adviser Matt Pottinger told British officials that the latest American intelligence shows that the likeliest source of COVID-19 is the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Pottinger, according to The Daily Mail—a British publication was one of the few Western press outlets that reported Pottinger’s statements—claimed the pathogen may have escaped through a leak or an accident.
According to a State Department fact sheet published in January, the United States “has reason to believe that several researchers inside the Wuhan lab became sick in autumn 2019, before the first identified case of the outbreak.” The fact sheet further explains that the Chinese government lab has conducted research on a bat coronavirus most similar to COVID-19 since 2016. Since at least 2017, the WIV has conducted classified research on behalf of the Chinese military. “For many years the United States has publicly raised concerns about China’s past biological weapons work, which Beijing has neither documented nor demonstrably eliminated, despite its clear obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention.”
Evidence the pandemic didn’t start in a Wuhan wet market was published as early as January 2020, days after Beijing implemented the lockdown on Jan. 23. According to the British medical journal The Lancet, 13 of the first 41 cases, including the first one, had no links to the market. In May the head of China’s center for disease control and prevention confirmed that there was nothing to link COVID-19 and the wet market. “The novel coronavirus had existed long before” it was found at the market, said the Chinese official.
After the Lancet report, Republican officials close to the Trump administration disputed Beijing’s official account. “We don’t know where it originated, and we have to get to the bottom of that,” Sen. Tom Cotton said in February. “We also know that just a few miles away from that food market is China’s only biosafety level 4 super laboratory that researches human infectious diseases.” Cotton said the Chinese had been duplicitous and dishonest. “We need to at least ask the question to see what the evidence says,” Cotton said. “And China right now is not giving any evidence on that question at all.”
The corporate American press disparaged Cotton’s search for answers. Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post claimed that Cotton was “fanning the embers of a conspiracy theory that has been repeatedly debunked by experts.” Trump was derided for contradicting American spy services when the president said he had a high degree of confidence that the coronavirus originated in a Wuhan lab. Sen. Ted Cruz said that in dismissing obvious questions about the origins of the pandemic the press was “abandoning all pretenses of journalism to produce CCP propaganda.”
The January publication of a New York Magazine article by Nicholson Baker arguing the same case that Trump and GOP officials had been making since last winter raises useful questions. Why did journalists automatically seek to discredit the Trump administration’s skepticism regarding Beijing’s origin story of the coronavirus? Why wait until after the election to allow the publication of evidence that the CCP’s story was spurious? Sure, the media preferred Biden and wanted Trump gone at any cost—but how would it affect the Democrat’s electoral chances to tell Americans the truth about China and COVID-19?
China had cultivated many friends in the American press, which is why the media relays Chinese government statistics with a straight face—for instance that China, four times the size of the United States, has suffered 1/100th the number of COVID-19 fatalities. But the key fact is this: In legitimizing CCP narratives, the media covers not primarily for China but for the American class that draws its power, wealth, and prestige from China. No, Beijing isn’t the bad guy here—it’s a responsible international stakeholder. In fact, we should follow China’s lead. And by March, with Trump’s initial acquiescence, American officials imposed the same repressive measures on Americans used by dictatorial powers throughout history to silence their own people.
Eventually, the pro-China oligarchy would come to see the full range of benefits the lockdowns afforded. Lockdowns made leading oligarchs richer—$85 billion richer in the case of Bezos alone—while impoverishing Trump’s small-business base. In imposing unconstitutional regulations by fiat, city and state authorities normalized autocracy. And not least, lockdowns gave the American establishment a plausible reason to give its chosen candidate the nomination after barely one-third of the delegates had chosen, and then keep him stashed away in his basement for the duration of the Presidential campaign. And yet in a sense, Joe Biden really did represent a return to normalcy in the decadeslong course of U.S.-China relations.
The new American oligarchy believes that democracy’s failures are proof of their own exclusive right to power.
After Biden’s election, China’s foreign minister called for a reset of U.S.-China relations but Chinese activists says Biden policy toward China is already set. “I’m very skeptical of a Biden administration because I am worried he will allow China to go back to normal, which is a 21st-century genocide of the Uyghurs,” one human rights activist told The New York Times after the election. With Biden as president, said another “it’s like having Xi Jinping sitting in the White House.”
In November a video circulated on social media purporting to document a public speech given by the head of a Chinese think tank close to the Beijing government. “Trump waged a trade war against us,” he told a Chinese audience. “Why couldn’t we handle him? Why is that between 1992 and 2016, we always resolved issues with the U.S.? Because we had people up there. In America’s core circle of power, we have some old friends.” The appreciative crowd laughed along with him. “During the last three to four decades,” he continued, “we took advantage of America’s core circle. As I said, Wall Street has a very profound influence … We used to rely heavily on them. Problem is they have been declining since 2008. Most importantly after 2016 Wall Street couldn’t control Trump … In the U.S.-China trade war they tried to help. My friends in the U.S. told me that they tried to help, but they couldn’t. Now with Biden winning the election, the traditional elites, political elites, the establishment, they have a very close relationship with Wall Street.”
Is it true? The small fortune that Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has earned for simply speaking in front of Wall Street audiences is matter of public record. But she had hard words for Beijing at her confirmation hearing last month, even criticizing the CCP for “horrendous human rights abuses” against the Uyghurs. But the resumes of Biden’s picks for top national security posts tell a different story. Incoming Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines and Secretary of State Antony Blinken worked at a Beltway firm called WestExec, which scrubbed its work on behalf of the CCP from its website shortly before the election.
Longtime Biden security aide Colin Kahl, tapped for the No. 3 spot at the Pentagon, worked at an institute at Stanford University that is twinned with Peking University, a school run by a former CCP spy chief and long seen as a security risk by Western intelligence services.
As head of the Center for American Progress think tank, Biden’s pick for director of the Office of Management and Budget, Neera Tanden, teamed up with a U.S.-China exchange organization created as a front “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority” of the CCP and “influence overseas Chinese communities, foreign governments, and other actors to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing.”
Biden’s special assistant for presidential personnel, Thomas Zimmerman, was a fellow at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, flagged by Western intelligence agencies for its ties to China’s Ministry of State Security.
U.N. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield gave a 2019 speech at a Chinese-government-funded Confucius Institute in Savannah, Georgia, where she praised China’s role in promoting good governance, gender equity, and the rule of law in Africa. “I see no reason why China cannot share in those values,” she said. “In fact, China is in a unique position to spread these ideals given its strong footprint on the continent.”
The family of the incoming commander-in-chief was reportedly given an interest-free loan of $5 million by businessmen with ties to the Chinese military, while Biden’s son Hunter called his Chinese business partner the “spy chief of China.” The reason that the press and social media censored preelection reports of Hunter Biden’s alleged ties to the CCP was not to protect him—$5 million is less than what Bezos has made every hour during the course of the pandemic. No, for the pro-China oligarchy, the point of getting Joe Biden elected was to protect themselves.
Reports claiming that the Biden administration will continue the Trump administration’s aggressive efforts to roll back China’s technology industry are misdirection. The new administration is loaded with lobbyists for the American tech industry, who are determined to get the U.S.-China relationship back on track. Biden’s Chief of Staff Ron Klain was formerly on the executive council of TechNet, the trade group that lobbies on behalf of Silicon Valley in Washington. Biden’s White House counsel is Steve Ricchetti whose brother Jeff was hired to lobby for Amazon shortly after the election.
Yellen says that “China is clearly our most important strategic competitor.” But the pro-China oligarchy is not competing with the country from which it draws its wealth, power, and prestige. Chinese autocracy is their model. Consider the deployment of more than 20,000 U.S. armed forces members throughout Washington, D.C., to provide security for an inauguration of a president who is rarely seen in public in the wake of a sporadically violent protest march that was cast as an insurrection and a coup; the removal of opposition voices from social media, along with the removal of competing social media platforms themselves; the nascent effort to keep the Trump-supporting half of America from access to health care, credit, legal representation, education, and employment, with the ultimate goal of redefining protest against the policies of the current administration as “domestic terrorism.”
What seems clear is that Biden’s inauguration marks the hegemony of an American oligarchy that sees its relationship with China as a shield and sword against their own countrymen. Like Athens’ Thirty Tyrants, they are not simply contemptuous of a political system that recognizes the natural rights of all its citizens that are endowed by our creator; they despise in particular the notion that those they rule have the same rights they do. Witness their newfound respect for the idea that speech should only be free for the enlightened few who know how to use it properly. Like Critias and the pro-Sparta faction, the new American oligarchy believes that democracy’s failures are proof of their own exclusive right to power—and they are happy to rule in partnership with a foreign power that will help them destroy their own countrymen.
What does history teach us about this moment? The bad news is that the Thirty Tyrants exiled notable Athenian democrats and confiscated their property while murdering an estimated 5% of the Athenian population. The good news is that their rule lasted less than a year.

It's the truth I want treated nicely, respectfully, pondered, not a knee jerk bias kind of "play nice", and why the Trump bashing, which in essence really means America bashing, of certain people is so counterproductive, the deliberate undoing of what was done (and amazingly in simply reversing course) to get us all going and growing after the decimation of Obama's reign. I have been critical of every Presidency (no savior's among them-not one-sorry) but that does not mean I found fault in all that was said and done. The truth is found in what was done right, and even done with a proper motive toward all. Actually, that did not happen in the Obama years, even "nice" had it's deeply buried poisonous thorn to pierce and wound and plant derision and divisiveness at home and abroad. We are still reeling from what that touched off here at home and across the globe. And there is nothing to say kindly about what this current regime is saying and doing. It's very presence, that came about in a terribly compromised "election", has no intention of letting people find out how it manipulated us all, or if you will, to be generous and less assuming, how it got here rightfully, because not interested in what we think or know of it, only that our warm bodies are used toward their ends...globalism's ends..as slaves. Globalism needs slaves to work.
The truth is mowed down as a weed patch, mercilessly. I dare to say the truth was the casualty most of all, and because politicians want to keep it buried, I find the very premise for such people ruling over us to be more than suspect, I find it egregious.

Humans can hear opposing views and make decisions about what side they favor. To some [imprecise] extent children need protection from awful ideas but that's not gonna happen in public school. Parents, extended family and the church serve that function. I didn't mind my children learning about ALL sides of issues. What conservatives appear to be saying here is, “I want our (collective "our" - all American children) to learn about what I believe and how I was taught with little to no opposing viewpoints or other perspectives that might "indoctrinate" them." Which, wouldn't that be another [non-Christian] "indoctrination"?
Kendi's writings are recent best-sellers. He has touched nerves and created controversy. His words are popular and in the culture now more than ever. TRYING to stuff that back in the bottle only draws more attention as everyone races to figure out what this CRT is all about. In my opinion, vehement opposition to this small slice of the curriculum will be counter-productive to the sharing and spreading of the true saving Gospel. Your mileage may vary.

I don't think "scornful" would portray my feelings about Thomas Sowell. He was an interesting and controversial figure in academia.
1. I wasn't surprised at all to google and figure out he is Roman Catholic. I didn't know that about him. Also divorced.
2. I was more amazed at the juxtaposition of the posts on one hand fear-mongering a 14-year-old white girls murder by a black man as a warning of what may happen if CRT is allowed follow on the other hand by a singular out of context Thomas Sowell quote that “Racism is not dead, but it is on life support—kept alive by politicians, race hustlers and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as ‘racists.’”
3. I agree with Thomas Sowell on many observations. We both are oppositional to mainstream political thought and enjoy challenging assumptions based upon on facts, not our feelings. We both see policies at tradeoffs which means critiquing things just to think about them sometimes. I believe he had a tendency to pick and choose the facts he relies on at times when dismissing a more liberal policy but that's his bias. [for example, not arguing for gun control myself today but when Sowell says something like more studies suggest gun control laws will result in more crime and murders therefore gun control laws won't succeed-- while failing to mention the deep pockets of the gun manufacturers and enthusiasts lobbies widely sponsored many/most of those flawed politicized studies themselves is intellectually dishonest]
4. I also find it troubling that because Sowell is black, his more conservative quotes are used pervasively to blanket dismiss many other minority policies, notions and ideas. In particular, he seems to appear whenever race is brought up or implied as a conservative shield to criticism. A very JBS technique.
5. I've never seen a conservative mention, quote and/or post Sowell's opinions of Donald Trump such as....

I happened to be listening to a local talk radio show when a car salesman called. He has been in the business for 24 years. He said that they "didn't have one single new car on the lot to sell." He blamed it too on the lack of availability for microchips, which is causing severe delays in manufacturing. I doubt this situation will continue for much longer, but it does reveal our vulnerability as an economy.
What's worse, and far more ominous is our potential conflict with China over Taiwan. If China invades, what will America do? With the advances in hypersonic missile technology, our once invulnerable aircraft carrier task forces have become antiquated sitting ducks, putting America at a distinct disadvantage. With mainland China located in the region, any military action by the USA will be short lived. On top of all of that, we have an utterly corrupt, senile fraud for a President.

I just came home from a shopping trip and saw about 35 - 40% of the people (i.e. sheeple) wearing masks again.
Apparently, they are reacting to the Fear Fuhrer Fauci's bogus claim that we should continue to wear masks ... even for those that were dumb enough to get vaccinated.
What I find amazing is that most of the people wearing their masks are overweight by a considerable amount, and because of that, they have a much higher chance of getting cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc., etc. than they do of dying from COVID. Yet, they continue to load up their shopping carts with processed junk food. Amazing.

Why is San Francisco the epicenter of so many of the worst things? It was long known as the place that was more full of "fairies" than any other city in the nation. It is the place where Dianne Feinstein became mayor in the 70s and then did more than any other politician to get California in bed with China. It's the home district of Nancy Pelosi. It's the most disgusting city on the west coast now, with feces and urine in the streets and looters openly stealing from stores in broad daylight on a routine basis.
It is the place where the Haight Ashbury district was located, the epicenter of the flower children, the drug culture, the sexual revolution, and the explosion of New Age "spirituality" (which spirits?).
It is the location of the Presidio, where the children were molested by Michael Aquino.
That's just what I can think of quickly off the top of my head.
If ever a city would be judged by God, it would be San Francisco. Maybe He is just waiting for more of the good people to flee it.
P.S. I was being hyperbolic when I suggested San Francisco should be judged by God. I was feeling a little bit angry about the video of men singing about corrupting children.
Thinking more calmly about the video, it occurs to me that it is meant to troll us. I can see exactly how it will play out. It will become a "fact check." It will go like this. No, the gay San Francisco choir did not sing about corrupting children. They were being ironic. They were singing, "We'll corrupt your children. We'll make them fair, and tolerant."
I think those men are deliberately seeking negative attention, so it's probably better not to give them the satisfaction, particularly in our era of cancel culture. What they are doing is the equivalent of me parading through a factory dressed like a prostitute and just waiting to blow the whistle and have my #MeToo moment.
It's particularly unfair to troll conservatives this way while cancel culture is becoming ever more totalitarian, as much as it can be, through its public-private partnership method of operation in our country.
If there's one thing that is clear about the alphabet people, it is that they crave attention, whether positive or negative. They demand positive attention, but they troll for negative attention as well.
We are likely as Christians to face more of the same of this type of thing in the coming days. It's time to put on the full armor of God.

You are so right about San Francisco. The city is a living, breathing cesspool, and they are "proud" of it. Unfortunately, they have successfully exported their trash to many other areas of the country.
Whenever the so-called "pride month" roles around every year, I think of what God has to say about "pride." Here are just a few examples:
“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” - Proverbs 16:5

Of course these verses, and others, do not pertain just to those in LGBTQ+, they apply to all that are proud in heart. At least so far, we don't have "Adulterers Pride Month," or "Drunkards Pride Month," or "Murderers Pride Month," etc. Yet, people, both inside this evil movement, and outside, celebrate this abomination ... and their open rebellion is not going unnoticed by God. Very well said. Sometimes the most profound truths are hidden in plain sight. I hadn't thought about it like that, but of course it's true. Pride parades and pride month are all about being proud of sin.
I don't think homosexual sin is necessarily worse than heterosexual sin, but you're right that most of the time people aren't parading their sins proudly.
The only thing comparable is rock n' roll, and oddly enough it beat the drag queens to the punch in terms of popularizing and desensitizing gender bending appearances and blending those appearances with the demonic and with bondage garb and gear. In fact many of the hair metal band members resembled drag queens from the neck up. Twisted Sister, Motley Crue and Poison come to mind immediately. Duran Duran band members wore make-up and skirts. Of course David Bowie did. It would probably be quite a long list if you went through every instance.
It hit me a couple of years ago that all of this was familiar to me but I was desensitized to it a long time ago. I think it was when I saw the European celebrity Conchita Wurst and I realized s/he was only a little bit more gender bending than the rock stars that had long been on the scene.
