Rod of Iron Ministries & MAGA - Another compelling reason to be wary of Trump cultism

This is a sleepless night for me -- fortunately, I keep a computer bedside just in case.  If the night leg pains get too intense, I can sit up and research until sleepiness might set in.  That is what is happening with me now.  I have been paying attention recently to the continued spread of the Moonie cults and former President Donald Trump and company's relationship to it.  I have found something extremely disturbing -- Huang Jin Sean Moon founded "Sanctuary Church" a/k/a "Rod of Iron Ministries."  I ordered his book, ROD OF IRON KINGDOM and perused it tonight.

Rod of Iron Ministries Church is founded by Huang Jin Sean Moon, one of Reverend Sun Myung Moon's 12 "  Look carefully at the crown on his head -- it is formed of bullets.

This variation of Moon's "True Parents" calls for members to be armed with AR Automatic Assault rifles.  The Church believes that January 6, 2021 will be remembered as a sacred and holy day in American history.  It also believes it is preparing its people for war.  As I showed in an earlier post, Donald Trump went to Korea last year and thanked Unification Church and the Moon founders for vastly improving the planet.  The Pennsylvania based Rod of Iron Church has been visited and spoken to by Steve Bannon, Eric Trump, Doug Matriano and other members of the Trump establishment.

They believe they are preparing our country for civil war and they intend to be "God's instruments" fighting it.  They take out of context a verse from Revelation (Revelation 2:27) that Jesus will rule us with a "Rod of Iron" -- and of course, since the Moon family think they are the ones completing "Jesus' unfinished work" they are standing in for Him!

They have bought a large compound near Waco, Texas and another in Grainger County, Tennessee.

For the record, Rev. Moon's "new gospel" was that Jesus failed in his mission which was to succeed and replace the race of Adam by marrying and having children.  His crucifixion represented "a failure".  Rev. Moon says he was called by God to fulfill that mission which he and his wife Jak Ha Moon (currently the head of the international church) did by having their 12 children.  Huang Jin Sean Moon tries to sound like a Christian in his book ROD OF IRON KINGDOM.  His theology is that his parents are the "True Parents" and their message the "true gospel."  If you don't believe me, take a peek at their websites for "Rod of Iron Ministries" and "World Peace and Unification Sanctuary Church".

The Moonies are an important component of the New Age Movement of which I have warned for the past 42 years.  One of their important spokesman admitted to me that they were working with Benjamin Creme and Tara Center (January 1983 - Joe Tully).  Tully is the same person who assaulted Josette Sheeran's father when he tried to extricate his daughter in 1979 from the Moon cult.

This cult hooked up with the MAGA Movement, with a goal of restoring Donald Trump to the Presidency, treating January 6, 2021's assault on the United States Capitol as sacred, is armed and dangerous.  Most certainly, there is no room there for any TRUE Christian.  Donald Trump and his close supporters have done nothing to discourage it -- but to encourage it.  I submit, that if you are in MAGA and/or Qanon, it is 'time to come out of her, my people."

Another example of NAR Trump idolatry -- this one in my email box from Elijah list this morning!

Stay tuned -- I will be writing more on this later.

11:09 AM,

I thought about what you are pointing out when I wrote what I did, but I didn't want to distract from the atrocity and the magnitude of the attack by Hamas on Israeli civilians. I had a feeling somebody might bring it up.

We're pretty comfortable right now by our computers, not under attack like in Ukraine, not conscripted like Russian soldiers, not under attack like the Palestinians in Gaza or like the Israeli civilians, and not conscripted like the Israeli soldiers.

We should be thankful to have the luxury of bickering as we do, but I wonder how long that luxury will last, and whether we deserve it to last?

Quite obviously. 10:10’s warning is something this site’s Craig Bris should pay much heed to.

Who Bris? Yes, quite!

Glad you thought of that too. Not bickering. Doesn't excuse Hamas or Russia, but Ukraine and Israel are guilty too. All events connected to the same group of people.

A family friend of ours has been diagnosed with Lupus. She is 39 years old.
She got Covid 3x and was vaccinated twice (she worked in our local Nursing Home).
She got Covid in 2020, and twice last year (2022). She was vaccinated in 2020 and again in 2021.
We suspected it was due to the vaccine, and we were right.

https://www.mdpi.com/2076-393X/11/10/1571

The study, led by researchers from the National Health Service in the United Kingdom, examined 271 participants from 190 case studies published worldwide.

I found this in the article.

3.6.2. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Out of eighteen patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), two developed SLE with renal involvement [105,131], the other two developed cardiac involvement [146,147], one with secondary antiphospholipid (APL) syndrome [146], and another one had acute pancreatitis [148]. A middle-aged male with known Sjogren’s syndrome developed skin rashes and pancytopenia for new-onset lupus, with raised Ds-DNA > 300. He had proteinuria and new confusion. The patient was diagnosed with renal and neuropsychiatric lupus. He was successfully treated with high-dose corticosteroids and mycophenolate. [105]. Another young female developed widespread, painful, tender skin nodules with positive ANA and Smith antibodies. A skin biopsy confirmed neutrophilic urticarial dermatosis. The patient responded well to oral corticosteroids and HCQ [124]. Another patient presented with skin rashes and autoimmune haemolytic anaemia following vaccination. She had positive ANA, a Coombs test, and thrombocytopaenia. The patient was diagnosed with SLE and Evans syndrome and was successfully treated with oral corticosteroids [128]. Another 23-year-old female with no medical history developed facial and limb oedema and anasarca a week after receiving the SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. She only had weakly positive Ds-DNA 14 U. However, she had 12 g of proteinuria. Her kidney biopsy 2 weeks after immunisation confirmed class V lupus nephritis. This was treated with high-dose oral corticosteroids and mycophenolate [131]. A middle-aged lady with known miscarriages presented a week after Pfizer-BioNTech with polyarthralgia, breathlessness, and raised D-dimer. A CT pulmonary angiogram confirmed an embolism. The patient subsequently developed plural and pericardial effusions, leading to cardiac tamponade. She tested positive for ANA, ds-DNA, cardiolipin, and beta-2 glycoprotein antibodies; therefore, she was diagnosed with SLE with secondary APL syndrome. Her clinical condition improved with the corticosteroids azathioprine, HCQ, and warfarin [146]. A young lady developed nausea and vomiting soon after the COVID-19 vaccination. She had positive ANA, ds-DNA, and bulky pancreas on a CT scan. She was diagnosed with SLE and acute pancreatitis. She responded well to IV methylprednisolone, azathioprine, and HCQ [148].

3.6.3. Subacute Cutaneous Lupus
Of six patients with subacute cutaneous lupus (SACL), three developed widespread skin rashes on the trunk and limbs [117,141,142]. The remaining patients had localised cutaneous rashes, mainly on the face. Anti-Ro antibodies were positive in all six patients, and SACL was confirmed on skin biopsy [117,125,140,141,142,143]. A skin biopsy revealed hyperkeratosis in the epidermis and the dermal infiltration of lymphocytic and histiocytes. One patient was also positive for anti-histone and another for anti-ribosomal antibody [140,143]. Three patients were started on HCQ [117,140,141], and one patient with diffuse SACL was treated with mycophenolate and IVIG [141].

9:28 PM,

Glad you thought of that too. Not bickering. Doesn't excuse Hamas or Russia, but Ukraine and Israel are guilty too. All events connected to the same group of people.

If this is a reference to Jews, I disagree.

This is just one of many reasons why I think it's important for Christians to finally develop a better doctrine of eschatology. Christians concentrated on developing more important doctrines first, like their doctrines of Christology and salvation. Dispensationalism, the most popular end times teaching in North America in the 20th and 21st centuries, is convoluted and riddled with scriptural problems. It follows a terrible hermeneutic and is full of eisegesis.

When you understand that the words of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ in the pages of the New Testament, calling out many of their own people as a "brood of vipers," had audience relevance to the original audience, then it frees us up from much error.

Matthew 24 was fulfilled, and because it was fulfilled when he said and as he said, we can be assured that Matthew 25 will also be fulfilled some day and possibly at any time. And if Matthew 24 was not fulfilled, then Jesus Christ was a liar. He was a false prophet, as the Muslims say. He got it wrong, as Bertrand Russell said. But history shows that it was indeed fulfilled. Because if was fulfilled, we can have assurance that Matthew 25 will yet be fulfilled. Jesus was not a false prophet. He is not a liar.

Jerusalem was judged because it had become as wicked as the ancient scorned pagan cities like Babylon and Sodom. The lesson is not that all Jews for all time are wicked. The lesson is, don't be wicked.

We all will be judged eventually. It could happen at any time. Jesus could return at any time. In Mathew 25, the ten virgins fell asleep because the bridegroom tarried. Some of the servants became wicked to other servants because the master was away for so long.

Matthew 25 is talking about the bodily return of Jesus Christ for the final judgement and the resurrection. We can be assured it will take place just as Jesus says, because we can be assured that Matthew 24 took place.

Matthew 25 doesn't say to watch out for those Antichrist Jews and their hidden conspiracies. It says to have oil (Holy Spirit) in your lamp while you are waiting for the bridegroom, who is tarrying. It says to be diligent with what the Lord has given you to work with. It says to be a good servant, not a wicked one, while the master is away for a long time.

P.S. Sodom's sin was to go after "strange flesh," and that meant violently lusting after angels. If trying to force oneself on angels is bad, killing the Son of God is even worse. The Bible does call out homosexuality as a sin, but going after the same sex is different in the Greek than going after "strange flesh."

The Greek and Roman world was full of homosexuality and pederasty, and the movie about the Spartans, 300, didn't tell you that the Spartan warriors were homosexuals or that they cruelly enslaved their own Spartan farmers and artisans. They were required to present the blood from the wedding sheet when they got married. The movie is great, very entertaining, but not at all historically accurate.

This ancient, pagan, Roman and Hellenized world was the one that Jesus said of, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep among wolves." A eunuch named Sporus became Nero Caesar's last Empress. He even held a wedding ceremony with Sporus. Although homosexuality was so common, gay weddings were not. As far as I know, Nero Caesar's gay wedding was an anomaly in the ancient world.

Anonymous said...

One more thing about Sodom. Not only did the Sodomites go after strange flesh, but they did not show hospitality. Hospitality signifies the Holy Spirit being at home in your heart. Abraham showed hospitality to God in human form. Lot showed hospitality to the angels in human form. The houses that received the Apostles showed hospitality to them at the same time as being receptive to their message of the Gospel. Jerusalem did not show hospitality to Jesus.

Jerusalem was said in Revelation to be Babylon, as well as being spiritually Sodom and Egypt. John said it was where our Lord was crucified. That's Jerusalem. Jerusalem was already judged. Not one stone of the temple was left on another, just as Jesus said, and he said it would happen in the generation of the Apostles.

Audience relevance is an extremely important principle of hermeneutics. You can't have reading comprehension of your Bible without it.

Fee can’t get to rewriting/reinterpreting (eisegesis?) Timothy for modern times without doing away with or reinterpreting 1 Cor 14 subordination first. In other words… U can’t have ordination and subordination.

Seven Woes to the Scribes and Pharisees

23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, 3 so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice. 4 They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear,[a] and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger. 5 They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, 6 and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues 7 and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi[b] by others. 8 But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers.[c] 9 And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. 10 Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. 11 The greatest among you shall be your servant.

Dispensationalism theology is a doctrine I unknowingly embraced long before I ever heard the term, or understood what it meant. Most evangelical, Protestant churches teach dispensationalism, never explaining it, or revealing that it is a way to interpret the Bible which originated from very specific men in the late nineteenth century. It has been spread far and wide as the only way to interpret scripture, just by the fact there is rarely any other options given.

...

Why is there a picture of the all seeing eye of Horus in the backdrop of the Shadow Mountain Community Church? Dr. Jeremiah succeeded Tim LaHaye , from the Left Behind fame, as senior pastor at this church. All conspiracy theories aside, it is just bizarre. It may be a clue to where this doctrine was birthed.

When a nation continually rebels against the commandments of Yahweh, the land will vomit them out, and another group of people will take over.

LWSA said “We suspected it was due to the vaccine, and we were right.”

1. Lupus is largely a genetic predisposition. The fact it’s about 9:1 a female issue is evidence of that.

For example, peanuts themselves don’t injure those allergic to peanuts, it’s that individuals allergic response to peanuts that does it. We don’t ban, disparage or shelve peanuts because a [much larger] few have severe allergies to them.

2. 4 serious and 6 more that were less serious lupus type contemporaneous reactions seemingly associated with the vaccines WORLDWIDE, out of billions of doses of vaccines administered does not provide near the probability evidence your generalized acquaintance who supposedly suffers from some form of lupus had any specific response to multiple vaccinations over time. Sure it could have been, but her susceptibility also could have been triggered by 3 covid infections (long covid and lupus are much more related) or a myriad of other things, triggers, she was exposed to at the nursing home where she worked, contemporaneously or over time.

The NGO The Lupus Foundation of America still suggests Lupus patients get vaccinated and boosted for Covid. They have been tracking Lupus Patients throughout the pandemic. If there was a real issue, they’d know much more than friends diagnosing acquaintances on the internet.

A Medical doctor recently did that. We also know the history of this friend's health who was sick off and on since vaccinated, who had beforehand enjoyed very good health. It is you diagnosing people whom you don't even know.

The research is showing much more than Lupus can be triggered by the vaccines if you bothered to read this medical paper.

Nothing changes our minds about the role the vaccines play in harming people's health, not protecting it.
Especially coming from you and others in the government's medical field and pharmaceutical companies who gain power and personal wealth from (in many instances) forcing the vaccines on unsuspecting people.
People like you are dangerous with their mere bit of information and one size fits all presumptions to assess another's situation.

Craig,

So my "antics" consist of not conceding your personal interpretations of 1 Corinthians are superior to MacArthur's?

Craig said: That’s a non sequitur. As I’ve already noted, 1 Cor 11:5 and 11:13 both address women prophesying and praying in church within limitations—not remaining silent. Thus, 1Cor 14:34-35 cannot mean women should be silent with no further qualification. Fee sees a contradiction, and by doing NT textual criticism argues for 14:34-35’s inauthenticity. 1Cor 11 implies subordination. Fee does not challenge that at all. Therefore, you’ve misrepresented (straw-manned) Fee here.

Au contraire yourself. Neither 1 Cor 11:5 nor 11:13 acknowledge the right of women for teaching, preaching and leading in church worship. Paul makes no mention here of the church at worship or formal teaching. Perhaps Paul has in view praying or prophesying in public places, rather than in worship of the congregation. This would certainly fit with the very clear directives in 1 Cor 4:34 and in his first letter to Timothy 2:12. The New Testament has no restrictions on a woman's witnessing in public to others, even to a man. Nor does it prohibit women from taking nonleadership roles of praying with believers or for unbelievers; and, there is no restriction from teaching children and other women. Perhaps Paul has in view praying or prophesying in public places, rather than in worship of the congregation. This would certainly fit with the very clear directives in 1 Cor 4:34 and in his first letter to Timothy 2:12. A much easier "exigesis" than simply saying the Bible doesn't mean what it said, someone planted or moved 1 Cor 14:34-35 from somewhere else and the Bible contradicts himself.

Again. Gordon Fee and you can do or say whatever you want. We are different denominations and I'm respectful of that and still refer to these all as 2nd tier issues. It is you that said this is a first-tier issue. As such, your "statement of faith" (from your blog) says:

In its original form, the Bible is the Holy Spirit-inspired, God-breathed [2 Tim 3:16], inerrant, and infallible Word of God [Prov 30:5; 2 Peter 1:20-21], complete unto itself. The Bible will never be superseded or supplemented by any other teaching [Prov 30:6], and nothing should be subtracted from it [Deut 4:2; Matt 5:17; Rev 22:18-19].

Gordon Fee seems to find 1 Cor 14:35-35 "fallible" and his commentary "subtracted" from it.

How do you reconcile criticizing MacArthur so harshly while giving Fee license to remove/excise Scripture?

LWSA,

You indicated the woman caught covid in 2020. I presume that was before she was vaccinated which, at very earliest as a front line worker might have been December 2020. There's no way to differentiate what ACTUALLY triggered her Lupus -- the covid infection in 2020 (or twice in 2022) or the vaccines in or around December 2020 and later in 2021.

Her medical doctor may have "diagnosed" her with Lupus but he certainly didn't "diagnose" the cause or "trigger" as being, with any certainty, the covid vaccines. Just because a WORLDWIDE study showed the vaccines RARELY (10 cases is so rare) may have triggered contemporaneous Lupis events doesn't mean they even proved it did trigger those cases let alone your friends case.

Either way that research is certainly not showing the relationship "more and more". 10 cases COULD suggest it might be a trigger.

No one said the vaccines were absolutely 100% safe. There are always risks and those genetically predisposed to immune system malfunction, like Lupus, were certainly higher-risk individuals with regards to wild covid versus and/or even a mild vaccine induced covid immune response.

Someday, perhaps science will be able to identify the genes which make people susceptible to Lupus and other immune ailments such that medicines and vaccines could be adapted to suit them differently than whole populations at risk of a novel pathogen like Covid. Even if your friend was the 11th case of covid vaccine induced Lupus, should the vaccines have been kept off the market and we just allow 20 million more people have to die of covid because the covid vaccine might give 11 people Lupus. I'd also guess that had there been more widespread covid in 2021 there would have likely been multiple times more triggered Lupus.

Doesn't matter what the anti-vaxxer's claim or "feel" anymore.
Time has clearly demonstrated that wild novel covid was vastly much more deadly and unpredictable than the covid vaccine.

I never said he did. I essentially asked if Craig had a similar problem (like the problem he has with MacArthur) with Fee's wild interpretation of 1 Cor 14:34-35 (i.e.- the elimination of two lines of Scripture and calling it a "contradiction") which is part of what some believe to be Fee's modern feminist eisegesis of Scripture.

Note it is Craig's quote above where he says "Fee sees a contradiction, and by doing NT textual criticism argues for 14:34-35’s inauthenticity" which mentions "contradiction" and feeds atheists arguments that the Bible doesn't say what it really says and/or has been manipulated.

I laid out my understanding of cessassationism and Craig laid out continuationism. I don't expect us to agree and I called it a second tier issue. I've learned a lot from the conversation and expressed appreciation for the thinking and debate.

My Fee example is, perhaps, something Craig and others can ponder as Christians of various denominations and faith lovingly debate Scripture publicly versus within their church, denomination and/or among exclusively believers.

Suzanne Somers and the death of innocence
By Andrea Widburg

Suzanne Somers, best remembered for her starring role in the iconic 1970s sitcom Three’s Company, has passed away at age 76. Somers leaves behind a husband and a son, and I send both of them my condolences. Her passing reminded me of the fact that Three’s Company was both a show from a much more innocent time as well as a show that paved the way for the cultural dissolution that characterizes 2023.

If you’re younger than I am, here’s the premise of Three’s Company, which debuted in 1976 and ran until 1984: Jack (John Ritter) needed a place to live. His friends, Chrissy (Somers), a ditzy, busty blonde, and Janet (Joyce DeWitt), the sensible brunette, needed a roommate.

The problem was that, in those more conservative times, having a man living with women was unacceptable to the strait-laced, tightfisted landlord, Mr. Roper (Norman Fell), married to the sex-starved Mrs. Roper (Audra Lindley). The solution: Have Jack pretend to be gay. In fact, Jack was a red-blooded American male living platonically with two beautiful women.

And that was the show, week after week, even after Suzanne Somers, believing she was destined for better things (she wasn’t), left the show to be replaced by Priscilla Barnes. And even after Norman Fell (a WWII Army veteran) left the show to be replaced by Don Knotts (another WWII Army veteran). I mention their veteran status because they were the last of their generation to be a major part of pop culture.

Anonymous said...

part 2

The show was remarkably silly. My parents despised it, although I think my dad enjoyed the female jiggle factor. There was a remarkable amount of jiggling from Sommers, DeWitt, and Barnes. The actors were competent, and John Ritter periodically broke free from sitcoms’ limits, as when Jack danced with surprising skill and elan after having accidentally mixed drugs and alcohol. Even my folks laughed.

What the show really did, though, behind all the nudge-nudge, wink-wink jokes about cohabitation, was to normalize a break from the traditional family unit.

It’s hard to imagine that in today’s world. Now, Disney aggressively indoctrinates children in the LGBTQ+ spectrum, Wisconsin fourth-graders are being forced to learn that “gender is assigned at birth,” a major airline celebrates a man as “woman of the year,” and venerable Maybelline promotes its makeup using bearded men. Back in 1978, though, Americans still objected to TV shows that brought even coy sex to their children.

Suzanne Somers wasn’t making any social or political statements when she got the role of Chrissy in the British transplant that became Three’s Company. She was just an actress who got a chance to be in a show that took off, making her famous and rich.

However, her passing is an opportunity to look at how drastically American values have changed in the 47 years since Three’s Company made cohabitation outside of marriage something cute, funny, and acceptable. Along the way, it also helped bring homosexuality further out of the closet, given the subplot that Jack was allegedly gay.

Silly jiggle comedy, yes, but also a show that shifted the Overton window in ways we could never have imagined.

Personal note:

Although never watched much TV, I did see several episodes (probably 3) of "Three's Company." Although I was a young Christian, I could easily spiritually discern the subliminal message that was being presented in this so called sitcom.

Practically every scene had some type of predictable sexual overtone. I remember thinking, you'd have to have the mind of an adolescent to find this funny. I could easily see what their end game was; use this idiotic show to help destroy Christian morals and values. As a side note, they also portrayed "Jack" as a possible gay man to the "suspecting" landlord ... one of the first such portrayals on American TV.

Garbage TV began back in that era, and its been on a downward slide ever since. Three's Company was one of those shows that helped to grease the slide.

Conclusions

Erroneous social media reports might have complicated personal decision-making, leading to people with lower cognitive ability being vaccine-hesitant. With individuals with lower cognition also experiencing higher rates of COVID-19 in studies conducted prior to vaccine distribution, these new findings are suggestive of a potential additional disease burden.

Keywords: Cognitive function, Cognitive ability, IQ, Mental ability, COVID-19, Vaccine hesitancy, Cohort

1. Introduction

Cognitive function – also known as mental ability or intelligence – refers to psychological functions that involve the storage, selection, manipulation, and organisation of information, and the planning of actions (Deary, 2012, Deary and Batty, 2007). Assessed using standard tests, there is marked inter-person variation in how rapidly and precisely people carry out these mental tasks (Deary, 2012, Deary and Batty, 2007). Health protection and health care can also be regarded as a complex set of assignments that require assimilation of knowledge, decision-making, and planning. It has been posited that people with higher cognitive function manage preventative behaviours and treatment more effectively (Gottfredson, 2004), and there is growing evidence that this is the case.

The world will be a communist new world order and terrible, and unmerciful. There will be no freedom except what they say you get, and you will own nothing and be happy or else.
Think about how many recent South American and African countries that have Chines there go take precious metals out of the earth are subverting and turning these nation to comminist hellholes? Recently Brazil got Silva, and 10 million Brazilians took to the streets in peaceful protests. It was a sea of humanity..you never saw it on our media...Liar Joe helped him get into officr. Silva was let out of jail by the corrupt Supreme court there..so he could run..ohhh what a twisted web they weave, when they work to decieve. We are now surrounded by enemies of freedom, of Life, Liberty, to choose, to worship, to think, to speak, what we should eat, drink, or own.

National Suicide In Plain View:Open Border And Sanctuary Policies Continue Unabated Make No Mistake:

Recent comments by Pres. Joe Biden and Gov. JB Pritzker seemingly calling for tighter border security is a ruse.

...lovingly debate Scripture publicly...

Is that what you were doing, X?

...what some believe to be Fee's modern feminist eisegesis of Scripture.

I doubt it. The Protestant churches already divided over ordination of women in the eighties and nineties. The liberal churches have left Fee in the dust, if he had wanted to go in that direction in the first place.

In many of the more conservative churches, there is often a tendency for many women not finding enough opportunities to grow as Christian disciples within their churches, so great numbers are going outside of their churches, into the parachurch organizations, in search of greater ministry opportunities. The parachurch organizations are by default where the action often is.

This may not always be a good thing.

Kunstler: Who Do They Think They're Kidding?

I'm going to try to tie some of this Cessassation/Continuation debate back into something more relevant for this blog.

The more I read about the dominionism, theonomy and continuationism the more a "pretrib" dispensationalist & cessationist I become.

My belief: Man can not be fully merciful and fully just. Only Jesus can do that. Therefore, theonomy/domionism can not work. It is evil. We will never create Heaven on earth ourselves. Who's version of Jesus gets to rule? Rushdooney and his son-in-law, Gary North wanted to bring back old testament laws including stonings as the only legitimate death penalty. I don't want to live in a country where my local courthouse has a weekly, probably required, stoning ritual presided over by local politicians (who are also the local priests, probably Roman Catholic, Apostles & Prophets). Do you?

Actual dominionism can only be truly accomplished through Him when He comes back.

Here's a great article from a Reformed Baptist website about how charismatics, historically dispensationalists, are susceptible to and now being led to premill and dominionism. The whole article is great.

Charismatics: Once somewhat premillennial, now increasingly postmillennial (of sorts):

http://www.wheatlandbiblechapel.org/blog/p-alignleftfont-color000000charismatic-dominionism--postmillennialism-57141

Excert: The question is this. Which is true?

If premillennialism is true, the Christian remains a stranger and pilgrim passing through this world. His grasp of dispensational thinking rightly orients him to the world around him to prioritize the preaching of the gospel, doing good in his sphere, but not holding on too tight to a sinking Titanic. If he is wrong, he's missing out on what God is doing, and is a pharisee. No wonder his numbers seem to be shrinking. Who wants to be on the seeming (!) losing team?

If covenant theology is true, a huge mountain lies before him, to get the world around him under the law of Moses for righteousness. His attempt to build a city of God on earth seems herculean. He needs government control. He cannot embrace the charismatic but has the same principles of postmillennial thinking. This will be interesting to watch the two interact with similar goals but vastly different views in major areas.

If the charismatic is right, he is on the correct path today and is moving forward. He is speaking those "words" to bring to pass what he wants on the earth, all under the cloak of "christianity" and being "spirit led". If he is wrong, he is merely re-arranging the chairs on the sinking Titanic. But far more sobering, is that the very mystery of iniquity that the premillennialist warns about, is the very thing this man is promoting...without realizing it. If one looks closely there is also an anti authority posture going on. This makes him bedfellows with humanists in one sense, and the religious right as well. What a mess!

There is a stage being set here. Momentous things seem upon us.

X,

Let me simplify it for you. As I've noted before, most hyper-charismatics, which includes most all the NAR, are post-millennial. I don't find any Biblical basis for this brand of eschatology. The world is not and will not get better and better, according to the Scriptures.

Post-mil eschatology along with hyper-charismaticism is the problem, not charismaticism/continuationism in general.

Or do you have evidence Gordon Fee was a post-mil guy?

X 7:02 PM,

Why not read what the Bible says about it?

1 John 2:15-17
English Standard Version
Do Not Love the World

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life[a]—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

1 Corinthians 1:27
English Standard Version

27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;

Matthew 13:31-33
English Standard Version
The Mustard Seed and the Leaven

31 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

33 He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”

Matthew 5:13-16
English Standard Version
Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Revelation 3
King James Version

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Revelation 2
King James Version

9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.

16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

Revelation 20
King James Version

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

1 John 2
King James Version

18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

Is it possible to be a Noahide and a Christian at the same time?

Rambam states that for gentiles who wish to have a place in the world to come, they don't need to convert to Judaism. All they need to do is keep the 7 laws of Noah because they were mandated by Hashem.

https://judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/118834/is-it-possible-to-be-a-noahide-and-a-christian-at-the-same-time

The first of the seven Noahide commandments however is not to worship idols, and Christianity is considered by Rambam and others to be avodah zarah.

Tractate Avodah Zarah (in the Talmud)
Alyssa M. Gray

“Avodah Zarah” literally means “strange worship,” the worship of deities other than the God of Israel. The term has also been translated accurately (albeit nonliterally) as “forbidden worship” and “idolatry.” Avodah Zarah tractates are found in the Mishnah (c. 3rd century CE), Tosefta (2nd–3rd centuries CE), Palestinian Talmud (“Talmud Yerushalmi,” c. 5th century CE), and Babylonian Talmud (“Talmud Bavli,” c. 7th century CE). Tractate Avodah Zarah is the seventh tractate in the order Nezikin (“Damages”) of the Mishnah

Matthew 5 King James Version

5 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

John 8
King James Version
8 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.

22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.

23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

John 8 King James Version

28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.

38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.

51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.

53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?

54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

1 John 2:22 King James Version

22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Mark 11:12-25 King James Version

12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

19 And when even was come, he went out of the city.

20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Galatians 3
King James Version
3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Matthew 3
King James Version
3 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Mark 13 KJV

1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!

2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

1 Peter 2 King James Version

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Matthew 16
King James Version
16 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Galatians 4 ►
King James Bible Par ▾
Sons and Heirs

(Genesis 21:1-8; Romans 8:12-17)

1Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Paul's Concern for the Galatians

8Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

12Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. 13Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. 14And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. 15Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. 16Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? 17They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. 18But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you. 19My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, 20I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

Hagar and Sarah

21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Matthew 23
King James Version
23 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

2 Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Matthew 23
King James Version

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Matthew 11
King James Version
11 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

X @ 2:18 PM,

Once again you show you refuse to engage in a fair discussion. You’ve completely straw-manned my positions.

Regarding MacArthur, I’ve already stated my myriad issues with his ‘exegesis’ of the relevant Scriptures, the worst of which is his novel “a god” in 1Cor 14:2 (which contradicts 14:16 and 14:28, among other verses in the immediate context). Other cessationists are much more careful in how they treat the relevant Scriptures, not resorting to twisting the text in order to label all Corinthians as speaking gibberish to a pagan god.

You wrote: Neither 1 Cor 11:5 nor 11:13 acknowledge the right of women for teaching, preaching and leading in church worship.

Of course not. But the context is worship, implied at gatherings (11:16). Women are spoken here in the context of praying and prophesying, which means they aren’t silent. 14:34-35 says they must be silent. Can women pray and prophesy within limitations (11:3, 16) while being silent (14:34-35)?

Regarding my own statement of faith, you misunderstand. The key is in the first clause: In its original form. We DON’T HAVE the original form. We have a really, really good idea, but there are a number of unresolved text critical issues. One easy example is Mark 16, in which the N/KJV includes the ‘long ending’, while modern Bibles do not. And there’s a reason why the Nestle-Aland Greek text is in its 29th edition. Text critics are constantly updating the text, based on new evidence.

1Cor 14:34-35 is found at the end of the chapter in a few manuscripts. The woman caught in adultery is even found at the end of Luke in some manuscripts.

But the Greek New Testament has much more manuscript attestation than ANY other ancient work. By far.

Craig,

Nope. My latest post had nothing to do with Gordon Fee other than another risk of charismatic theology and speculating a way these various theologies can ecumenically come together. New revelation can take them anywhere. Perhaps MORE Gordon Fee's in the future can act as a check on such among charismatic theologians and practitioners but I see that less likely to happen.

If I recall correctly, Fee believes that all of the Revelation was fulfilled before the destruction of Jerusalem, or in that time frame (perhaps ranging later than 70 A.D.). I think that may make him a preterist but not necessarily a postmillennialist. Many hold that position and whle still being something other than a postmillennialis.

I could research it but that's just a guess on my part.

But that goes to my point. There is no "charismatic theology", as if charismaticism is monolithic and a complete system of theology. It's diverse.

I will agree that NAR-type theology, with its largely post-mil eschatology ('Jesus cannot come back until we Christianize the world'), will come together with other false (new age) theology.

But let's be more careful with the phrasing--replace the broad brush with a finer one.

So "gatherings" could easily be other than in the church and/or in front of men. That was easy...no "contradiction" and no need to remove it or move it, right?

I checked out John MacArthur's 1 Corinthians New Testament Commentary and read through the relevant sections with more expansive discussions. If you seek to write a critique of such, that's a great place to start.

I'm not gonna type it up or find it online and cut and paste.

Besides, nobody is interested or being edified by our continuing interdenominational debates.

Thanks again.

X,

What do you think "church" was in the 1st century? They met in houses, large and small.

Your 'easy dismissal' neglects to look at the larger context. Fee in his preface to exegeting 11:2-16 writes (bold added):

After prohibiting the Corinthians from becoming involved in pagan worship, Paul now turns to address three items of abuse in their own assemblies: a concern related to women's head covering or hairstyle when praying and prophesying (11:2-16); the abuse of the poor at the Lord's Table (11:17-34); and the abuse of speaking in tongues in the assembly (chaps 12-14)... (p 491).

Context is key.

Craig said: But let's be more careful with the phrasing--replace the broad brush with a finer one.

Unfortunately...(IMO) that brush has become finer and finer the last 100 years or so.

John MacArthur has come to the conclusion it's just not possible anymore.

I pray he's wrong.

I've listened to Dr. Michael Brown pretend to walk that fine line a time or two only to be disappointed to see a video of him thereafter fully participating in Hindu-like (new age) "fire tunnels" within some NAR church somewhere.

That said...I hope to see some charismatic resistance and there's so much else we agree on that I will try because it's certainly not JUST some branches of Charismatics going the Dominionist route. The path is narrow and I hope you are on it and humbly pray I am too.

X @ 10:19 PM,

I've already stated my strong reservations about Brown. I agree: There should be some prominent continuationists speaking out.

Now, of course, I'm about as 'nobody' as one can get in the blogosphere, but at least a hyper-charismatic cannot accuse me of dismissing the NAR on the basis of cessationism in my blog articles.

I think THAT is a big dividing line in apologetics in this vein. Those who are well-known ('celebrity' pastors or teachers), or at least somewhat known, who speak out on hyper-charismaticism are all cessationists, to my knowledge. So hyper-charismatics are likely to dismiss them out of hand, for they feel dismissed out of hand.

But there are quite a few small bloggers who are continuationists, yet strongly critical of the NAR and their ilk.

X,

For James White, Brown makes a good partner, AND a good sparring partner. White needs to keep his ministry going, and for that he needs someone like Brown. Gotta make a living, ya know.

Craig Keener is a continuationist, and I don’t believe he advocates for Dominionism or theonomy. I think I can add D. A. Carson and the late F. F. Bruce. But if you’re looking for someone actively speaking out against Dominionism and theonomy, I can’t say I know of anyone. Any or all of the three I just mentioned may have, but I don’t know for sure.

The somewhat recent Pivec/Geivett books were disappointing to me on two counts. First, they are both cessationists. Second, and much worse to my mind, is the very first listed assumption regarding the subject and subjects in their books:

We assume that leading NAR figures are believers and genuine disciples of Jesus, and that their intention is to do the will of God in their lives and in the world.

From my perspective, just like we cannot ‘judge’ someone to be a non-Christian, we cannot ‘judge’ someone to be a true Christian either. Another’s true status in the Kingdom of God is something we generally cannot know—think wheat and tares. However, when the very doctrine an individual espouses is antichrist by definition, I feel pretty confident in declaring the doctrine antichrist. That would also be categorized as heresy. And when that same doctrine aligns with new age Christology, I think we can make further assumptions.

Which brings me to a point I brought up more than once: We can fight against Dominionists and the NAR on the basis of their Christology and associated theology, rather than making a hard stance against continuationism in favor of cessationism. Accepting for a moment your position that cessationism/continuationism is a 2nd tier doctrine, I’m sure you see Christology as a 1st tier doctrine. And that is where the fight should be.

When I first read that primary assumption in Pivec/Geivett, I nearly threw the book across the room!

https://www.thenationalnews.com/uae/2023/10/15/us-secretary-blinken-visits-abu-dhabis-abrahamic-family-house/?fbclid=IwAR2GAiRZo_uR-UOWmA4CG2VCB_YXoF0tGUheyUm6IVzdk9PMm34Js87sNhk

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has visited one of Abu Dhabi's most popular sites of religious tolerance.

Sharing photos on social media of his visit, Secretary Blinken visited the Abrahamic Family House with a message about the Emirates' attitude towards coexistence.

"Visited the newly opened Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi, an exemplary model for active exchange between faiths and a true testament to the UAE’s commitment to peaceful coexistence among the Abrahamic faiths," said the senior American official.

"This is what the future of the region should look like."

Among the photos was an image of Secretary Blinken's message, written on a tile in the multi-faith centre's forum, which read 'light in the darkness'.

The interfaith complex on Saadiyat Island opened this year and is home to a mosque, church and synagogue. Here is some background information from another link. “The Abrahamic Family House will be a beacon of mutual understanding, harmonious coexistence and peace among people of faith and goodwill. It consists of a mosque, church, synagogue and educational center to be built on Saadiyat Island, the cultural heart of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Through its design, it captures the values shared between Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and also serves as a powerful platform for inspiring and nurturing understanding and acceptance between people of goodwill. The vision for the Abrahamic Family House originated after the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb in February 2019.”

What You Should REALLY Know About the Day of Jihad!

10:29 AM,

Very significant news, and I hope Constance writes about it. It's more relevant to her blog than anything I've seen here in a very long time.

Islam is not an Abrahamic faith. Hagar and Ishmael did not go to Saudi Arabia. Hagar went towards Egypt across from the Jordan River. It can be proven from the pages of Genesis.

The times call for discernment about Judaism, Islam and Christianity, as well as for discernment about eschatology.

We need to be Biblical with our eschatology and reject the made up traditions of men. We need to believe God over men and please God over men insofar as concerns, not just Christology and soteriology, but also eschatology!

Reformed, and always reforming. Let's reform again. It's urgent now!

Matthew 24 is fulfilled. Matthew 25 remains unfulfilled. Revelation 1-19 are fulfilled. Revelation 20-22 remain unfulfilled.

The Bible does not teach that the church was "Plan B" for God and that He will return to His supposed "Plan A", Israel, at a future time.

The Bible teaches that the church is the Israel of God and is made up of Jews and Gentiles, the rebuilt temple has Christ as its cornerstone and the apostles for foundation stones, that God does not dwell in a tabernacle or a temple made with human hands but the Holy Spirit dwells in the temple of each individual Christian believer,

National Israel was always supposed to be a light unto the nations. That's why the temple had a court of the gentiles. That's why gentiles became converted in Esther. That's why Nineveh repented. That's why the Canaanite Ruth in the book of Ruth found a kinsman redeemer in the Holy Land. That's why Rahab the harlot of Jericho was spared her life and the lives of her whole family.

There is no such thing as a racial Jew at this point in human history. DNA evidence does not support it. I'm sorry, but it doesn't, and it's no trick of the devil. DNA evidence supports just two human parents who appeared about 40,000 years ago. The evidence of cosmology supports that matter was created all at once from nothing, in the form of the Big Bang. We don't have to be afraid of science. God can take science. Science studies His world, the word He created. And science does not support the existence that Jewish people are a race. Many peoples historically, not just Khazars, converted to Judaism in many times and places. Jewish DNA can look like any DNA -- it's diverse.

Please, fellow Christians, get your eschatology in line with the Bible. Ideas have consequences, and bad ideas have victims. This book is very Biblical and very clear and easy to read.

The modern, secular, non-theocratic, non-racially Jewish political nation state of Israel does not need to experience Armageddon in order for us to keep our faith!

And the three "monotheistic" religions of the world do not need to unite as one for the Middle East to have peace!

Our Lord Jesus Christ has got this. He told us what our job is. We are in Matthew 25. We are to keep the oil in our lamps that the Holy Spirit may shine a light to the world. We are to re-invest diligently through good works all that we have been given freely that we did not deserve to be given, rather than burying it under the ground to hide it and save it all for ourselves. We are not to treat the master's other servants wickedly while he is away.

We are the church, and we are the Israel of God, and we are in Matthew 25. He will return one day for the resurrection and the judgement.

We do not need to feel disappointed that there need not be another holocaust in Israel first!

Nor do we need to feel like the ten lost tribes were cheated! Jesus said He came for the lost sheep! Believe Him! Do you think He failed to find them? Read it!

X 7:02 PM,

The more I read about the dominionism, theonomy and continuationism the more a "pretrib" dispensationalist & cessationist I become.

First, the Reformers, who have traditionally been cessationists, were not Dispensationalists. They were Historicists, meaning they thought that papacy was the seat of the Antichrist, the Antichrist was the same as the Little Horn of Daniel, the same as the Beast of Revelation, and that the RCC was the harlot riding the beast and drinking the blood of the saints (persecuted Protestants). Why, then, do you insist on lumping together cessationism with Dispensationalism?

Second, when you say "pretrib" in quotes, do you mean you believe in the pretrib rapture? Historically, the scriptures that Dispensationalists say teach rapture, were universally regarded as teaching about the resurrection, before Dispensationalism.

Third, your association between full preterism, or hyper preterism, with Dominionism (Reconstructionism, to be more precise), is not without some validity. David Chilton, a Reconstructionist, had a huge impact of full preterist teachings with his book, Days of Vengeance. But full preterists are not all Reconstructionists. What they have in common is that they were willing to question historical confessional creeds that believed in the second coming. This seems to have made them more willing to believe in all kinds of other things. Full preterists are diverse and believe in many other unorthodox things, and they are not all Reconstructionists.

Full preterism must be distinguished from partial preterism, which does not contradict the traditional and orthodox confessional creeds, that always taught a second coming with a judgement and resurrection. If you look into church history for a fully developed orthodoxy about eschatology, however, you will look in vain. The church historically spent a lot of time on higher priority doctrines, like Christology and Soteriology. But the church is now paying more attention to the development of a thorough, coherent and Biblical doctrine of eschatology, as more and more Evangelical Christians question Dispensationalism.

I don't know why you repeatedly obsess about Dominionists, unless it's because you're always reading about them in the secular mainstream media, which has almost nothing to say about Christians, unless they are Dominionists who just freshly offended somebody again. (Either that or unless they look bad with their Donald Trump support, or unless they look good with their Donald Trump non-support. Or unless it's anything Pope Francis ever says that the secular world likes.)

12:26 PM,

Huh?

Anonymous said...

12:26 AM,

God separated the nations at the Tower of Babel. Pentecost started the process of gathering the nations back to Jesus Christ. After the cross, the Father demoted Satan in his authority, so that he is no longer the god of this world. Satan won't be damned until Jesus returns for the judgement and the resurrection, but Jesus Christ has authority over all nations of the world. He is gathering a remnant of all nations to Himself, into the Israel of God. What do you think speaking in tongues signified, anyway? It began at Pentecost. It was a reversal of the confusion of tongues at Babel.

Anonymous said...

Maybe X is jealous of the Dominionists because they seem so happy, loving Jesus and all. While the lowbrow quasi-cultist Baptists are getting fatter, and more and more unhealthy on their junk food!

The only acceptable sin to the Baptist is gluttony!

Anonymous said...

12:44,

Even Dominionists vary quite a bit.

Some have created cultures of cruelty, with men abusing women, women abusing children and mean-girling women, boys bullying boys, girls mean-girling girls, children abusing pets, mothers being harsh to babies, and even the pets being meaner to the smaller pets.

But some Reconstructionists just believe that the world will increasingly, over time, look to Christians for solutions to their problems. They think it will be voluntary and gradual. They are long term optimists, which truly makes them upstream swimmers mentally, but it's part of their faith as they understand it.

You really just have to get to know people.

Anonymous said...

1:02 PM

That's a pretty broad brush you paint Dominionists with!

I think the reality is, if you are Baptist, Dominionist, or any of the zillion other denominations, we live in a comfy cozy modern world where we choose our favorite flavors, and type of 'jesus' that is to our liking. Today's 'church' is so far removed from what it should look like, that has morphed into something else.

Nevertheless, God has His remnant, and it is up to each one of us to choose who we serve.

It won't be long now, so finish strong! Prophecy is being fulfilled right before our very eyes.

1:29 PM,

Maybe that's one of several meanings of the parable of the ten virgins in the parable in Matthew 25: ten virgins, not just one virgin. Not that I'm saying Jesus is a polygamist or being too literal that each church will be one bride each. I agree with you, pretty much, that Jesus will gather His own from whichever denomination they belong to. I think Matthew 25 could possibly have been indicated a vision into the future of a very divided and splintered church. Of course, the main point is to keep oil in your lamp, because you never know when it may become too late to buy it!

Craig,

I went down the DA Carson rabbit hole a bit.

He's reformed so I'm guessing he's just tolerant of continuationism more so than being one himself???

His partnership with Tim Keller at the Gospel Coalition is troubling. On one hand...TGC is very woke (you even criticized their wokeness earlier on this very thread); on the other hand, reading the history and DA Carson's prediction of how the issue of homosexuality was dividing the church and he hoped to create an organization that wanted to focus more on the Gospel versus getting distracted and/or bogged down by cultural issues it's easier to understand their "wokeness" today on that subject.

That said...TGC take on Theonomy is dead on:

American Culture Is Broken. Is Theonomy the Answer?

MARCH 31, 2021|ANDREW T. WALKER

https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/theonomy/

Brief Excerpt: ...Theonomy Is Not the Solution:

There are serious criticisms of the movement—criticisms so severe that Theonomy should be repudiated as an evangelical framework for understanding the mission of the church and the relationship between civil and sacred, eternal authority and spiritual authority.

In sum, the error of Theonomy is that its hermeneutic stretches beyond the Bible’s understanding of its own authority. From this mistaken hermeneutic comes serious distortions, with drastic consequences for the church’s role in fallen political orders.

Theonomy is a facile hermeneutic that channels an eschatology of triumph. Historically undesirable, it instrumentalizes religion, blurs church-state relationships, and jeopardizes religious dissent. And it proves unnecessary because of how other covenants showcase the benefits of common grace and natural law.

Rather than become mired in interpretive problems amply demonstrated by many conservative scholars elsewhere, the simplest observation to make about Theonomy as a hermeneutic is that it misunderstands the relationship between the old covenant and the new covenant—which leads to misapplications today....

About the article on theonomy, I found this too elastic: "Though organizations exist to promote it, Theonomy today is less a concrete movement than a mood and mode of engagement."

I can't stand Rushdoony. However, Jesus is the Lord who has authority over the whole world and will some day judge all the nations. Speaking this truth, in love, is part of Christian love, which consists of pulling peoples' feet out of the fire.

If we don't understand that Jesus is God, and we don't understand God created the world and has authority over the world, we don't know who God is, and we can't properly fear him. If we don't fear Him, and if we don't understand how much we naturally depart from His ways, we don't understand how to appreciate His very great mercy in offering us the chance to accept His imputed righteousness on our behalf.

The parables and stories in the Bible are best at conveying the whole truth of the matter. Jesus incarnate was very loving but also very offensive everywhere he went. Just read about Him. Open up your Bible and start with Him. Just start reading the stories about Him.

He is the role model, not that we can be God like Him, but in a sense we are to imitate him. We have to be humbler since we can't read minds as He could.

It's frustrating for the verbiage of human philosophy to divide the Word wrongly. Part is right but part is wrong. Some things are joined together which should be separate. Some things are separate that should be joined. It would take a long time to respond.

X,

Another continuationist is Craig Blomberg.

In general, I think you'll find quite a bit of variety and variance among some in Christian academia--even in those not overtly in the liberal camp. By that I mean that though, e.g., Carson is from Reformed, it seems he doesn't always conform to all things Reformed.

On the other hand, there are others, such as Daniel B. Wallace, who is tenured at Dallas Theological Seminary. The school is so entrenched in dispensationalism that the accompanying brand of eschatology is de rigueur (and I have this from a very reliable source). By this I mean the 'pre-trib Rapture' (PTR) doctrine, which I find completely unsupportable by Scripture. Though I think Wallace's Grammar is generally fantastic, there are too many times he's controlled by his theology and eschatology.

As an example, along with his agreement with PTR doctrine is his stance that the Holy Spirit is a possible referent for "the restrainer" in 2Thess 2:6-7. This is despite his position that one cannot argue that the masculine "restrainer" is or could be the Spirit (pneuma, which is neuter in grammatical gender) based on supposed masculine "natural gender" (which he rightly refutes), all while conceding the Spirit is nowhere in the context.

All this to say, some 'toe the party line', while others seem freer to differ.

Antony Blinken visited Abu Dhabi's Abrahamic Family House, as a commenter noted yesterday. The Abrahamic Family House is supposed to be a physical manifestation of the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together. The Abrahamic Family House is intended to be just one of the first projects of The Higher Committee of Human Fraternity.

(See https://religionnews.com/2019/09/23/higher-committee-of-human-fraternity-unveils-design-for-the-abrahamic-family-house/)

The United Nations is fully behind it, saying, "The need for spiritual guidance has never been greater. It is imperative that we double our efforts to spread the message of good neighborliness based on our common humanity, a message shared by all faith traditions."

2 Timothy 3:5
King James Version

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Pope Francis was one of signers of the Document on Human Fraternity, and this document is said to align with his encyclical, "Fratelli Tutti" (Brothers All), a 43,000 word document.

(See https://religionnews.com/2020/10/04/five-things-to-look-for-in-new-papal-encyclical-fratelli-tutti/)

Fratelli Tutti is superficially benign, but I feel Pope Francis is asking of Christians that we be enabling, co-dependent, and that we exhibit toxic positivity. These are behaviors that Jesus did not at all model for us. I do believe we need to live in peace with all people insofar as it's up to us. But I don't believe the world can have peace until it has peace with God, by being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

I feel that Fratelli Tutti consists of 43,000 words of Latin to say, "Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now." And, "All you need is love, love. Love is all you need. Love is all you need."

We do need love, but it needs to start with loving God. We can't truly love Him until we are reconciled to Him.

We should love our enemies, but how can we love them if we don't try to pull their feet out of the fire?

Anonymous said...

Vatican News says, "What Pope Francis is proposing and implementing is not an approach that forgets differences and identities in order to equalize all. Instead, it is a call to be faithful to one's own religious identity in order to reject any instrumentalization of religion to foment hatred, division, terrorism, discrimination, and at the same time, to witness in increasingly secularized societies that we need God."

Quoting further, though, pay attention to what is in bold. It's very subtle, but look what he did with "covenants." He made it plural, and he left the possibility open that Islam has an authentic covenant with the same God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Do you see how sneaky he is?

In Cairo, speaking at the International Conference for Peace promoted by the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Al Tayyeb, Pope Francis said that Mount Sinai "reminds us above all that authentic covenants on earth cannot ignore heaven, that human beings cannot attempt to encounter one another in peace by eliminating God from the horizon, nor can they climb the mountain to appropriate God for themselves.” It was a very timely message in the face of what the Pope called a “dangerous paradox,” namely, on the one hand, the tendency to relegate religion only to the private sphere, "as if it were not an essential dimension of the human person and society"; and on the other, the inappropriate confusion between the religious and political spheres.

Biden quoted Pope Francis' encyclical Fratelli Tutti on his campaign trail in October 2020.

"At times, in thinking of the future, we do well to ask ourselves, 'Why I am doing this?,' 'What is my real aim?,' " writes Francis in his encyclical, which was released Oct. 3, in discussing the questions politicians need to ask themselves when assessing their motives.

Biden repeated those questions while speaking in Warm Springs, Georgia, on Oct. 27, saying "Pope Francis has asked questions that anyone who seeks to lead this great nation should answer."

https://www.ncronline.org/news/biden-quotes-francis-campaign-trail-trump-camp-attempts-distort-popes-words

This article puts a spin on it, but I think the important part to notice is that Biden is aware of Fratelli Tutti and agrees with it and knows it well enough to quote from it (or his speech writers do or did).

I'm starting to think Satan has used Donald Trump as a decoy.

Excerpted from the article:
· The White Hats might possibly activate the EBS around Sun. 22 Oct. according to a Q post that said that the Internet would go down at that time.

· After the EBS was active, it could safely be revealed that Trump was the Commander-in-Chief of the US Military, as well as President of the new USA Republic, with JFK Jr. as his Vice President. (That inauguration took place at Mount Rushmore on 4 July 2021).

· The fiat US Federal Dollar of the Cabal will be worth nothing and have no place in the future of the World’s economy.

· It was believed that after Sun. 22 Oct. NESARA/GESARA would activate across the Globe.

· According to GESARA’s own regulations new elections would be scheduled within the next 120 days after it was announced, but those elections would not be for US Inc. – they would be held across the Globe for positions in the new USA Republic as well as other Sovereign nations that were a part of BRICS.

Look to a New Horizon -- EMIGRATE WHILE YOU STILL CAN...
· The well known Whistleblower Edward Snowden has been helping the White Hats in their Plan to Save the World.

· Roughly one half of the over 500,000 sealed indictments filed in federal courts across the nation since 2006 have charged Elites involved in large Banks and running of the Stock Market, with Treason or other serious crimes.

· Q was hinting of a date that those new Elections would be held by posting an image of a Mickey Mouse Clock with his fingers pointing to 10 and 2 (think mirror).

· The 20 or so days of Disclosure was believed to have begun around Sun. 1 Oct.

· EBS Activation on Sun. 22 Oct? Q says that “After Argentina’s election on Sun. 22 Oct. everything would change. The World would soon have no Internet for a while. We are approaching that Timeline. Get Ready for it.” …Q

· On Oct 24 – Nov 6th the Flare Finance Platform launches, changes everything for the banks and enables smart contracts for the XRPL.

· Starting in this same fourth week of October Repatriation and Reclamation Allowances would be paid out. The amount of monies paid back will be based on federal taxes paid since the 1940s, interest on mortgages, bank loans, car loans and credit card interest – along with interest earned on those monies over the years. Those 60 and older will be paid in three equal monthly payments for Oct, Nov & Dec. Those 50-60 will get payments over the next 12 months and those younger will be paid out over 15 years, though they have to be employed in order to qualify.

· Starting sometime in October and continuing for three months Social Security benefits will be significantly higher, topping out at $5,200."

Both a decoy and a foil. A decoy for Constance and some others. A foil for Pope Francis and the UN and others. A decoy for the non-Christian world made up of individuals who think they know what is good and what is evil. A guilt-by-association way to discredit the Evangelicals, who look evil. Fewer in the world are likely to convert to become Evangelicals. More are likely to be favorably disposed toward the papacy and its eventual interfaith and New Age one world religion.

This eventual interfaith and New Age one world religion will provide cover for Gog and Magog to surround the "camp of the saints" (the true church) and the beloved city (not physical Jerusalem, which was said be spiritually Egypt and Sodom and was called Babylon). The beloved city is the New Jerusalem whose temple has been built "stone by stone" (believer by believer) for 2,000 years.

Being discredited as evil will provide excuse for Gog and Magog. It will be allowed to happen because of having been tempted to not trust Jesus but to trust what is right in our own eyes, which will result in persecution but not damnation, and we will be saved when Jesus returns.

It may not happen immediately, but I think it will happen eventually. (I think Matthew 24 was fulfilled but Matthew 25 remains unfulfilled. Revelation 1-19 was fulfilled but Revelation 20-22 remain unfulfilled. Israel is a false Israel, kind of like the antichrists are false Christs, but the people of Israel are mostly just like people of any nation and still don't deserve the evils of terrorism.)

Angels are ministering spirits and are not of flesh and bone. it's impossible for angels to be 'strange flesh.' If the men of Sodom and Gomorrah had so much as touched the angels, they would have been instantly slaughtered. The angels looked like men, but they weren't men, they were spirits. The men had insatiable lust for something new and different. 'Strange flesh' refers to unknown or different flesh from the partners they'd already known.

Likewise, the current Nephilim theory is impossible. Fallen angels are unable to have intimate physical relations with flesh and blood or to produce seed and cause impregnation.

You may be right. The early church believed in a straightforward supernatural reading of the scriptures about the Nephilim until the middle of the second century AD. I think ancient people were more nonchalant about their acceptance of the existence of the supernatural world. But it doesn't mean they were necessarily correct about the Nephilim.

11:27 PM,

Yep, and that alien hybrid stuff ties right into the Nephilim obsessions.

Focusing too much on "negative" things isn't the way to go, and by that I mean obsessing too much about Satan, demonology, aliens, the Antichrist, or the Nephilim (whether they were really offspring of angel-human unions or not).

I think it might have really happened historically. The angels may have really left their stations to assume human form and function as humans to produce offspring with human women, since the angels of the Old Testament could eat food and could close doors, at those times when they took human form. If this really happened, then it could have mean that the fallen angels, in a way, genetically engineered humans.

Alternatively, the references to the Nephilim could be spiritual, in the same way that the referances in Genesis to the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent are spiritual. It would be the same way that Jesus said of the Pharisees that they were of their father the devil, and the same way Paul said that Christians are the spiritual seed of Abraham (by being born again in Christ).

Whether the Genesis Nephilim references should be spiritualized, or whether the references should be taken the way the ancients understood them, obsession about the Nephilim--or about alien hybrids--doesn't seem to lead anywhere good.

If the Nephilim who were wiped out in the flood really were trapped on earth, damned, without bodies and without rest, it would explain why the "Legion" cast out of the man by Jesus wanted to inhabit the herd of pigs. They dislike existing without bodies on the earth. They have nowhere to go, so they must haunt the earth until the final judgement.

I speculate that the ancients really saw supernatural manifestations of the "gods" in the form of the angels who were ruling over the gentile nations, after the Tower of Babel. I believe these gentile supernatural manifestations, like seeing "Poseidon" in the ocean, stopped at the cross, because Jesus at his Ascension took authority away from Satan and his fallen angels.

I speculate that the world seems material now, not supernatural, because of the work of Jesus at the cross, and that He ironically does not receive credit for this and instead is thought not to really exist.

I speculate that either the fallen angels are too restricted to appear to humans as they once did, or the spirits of the Nephilim who are trapped on the earth are too weak to do so. Either way, the evil spiritual forces that remain mess around with people in the form of haunted houses, alien abduction dreams and visions, and in the past fairie realm dreams and visions. But whatever these evil spirits are, they no longer parade before humanity to look like real gods and goddesses and be worshiped.

I believe the gifts of the spirit continue, but after Christianity has been introduced in a land for a long time, people are expected to abide more in the Word, since their churches have become more mature. The missionairies who strive to plant baby churches in regions untouched by Christendom still report miracles and supernatural signs.

11:27 PM,

I don't think the Nephilim, if they were actually the products of human-angel unions, were spirit beings hypostatically joined with human flesh. They would have been nothing like Jesus Christ. Instead they would have been all flesh, but they could have been genetically engineered to be bigger and stronger, to feel mightier, to feel more like they are gods compared to the rest of humanity, and to have less respect for God and to feel less need for Him.

They could have built the ancient monuments that exist all over the world, because if they were giants, they could have lifted the heavy and enormous stones and transported them. I know human slave labor might have been able to do it using ancient technology and taking a long time, but it doesn't explain why the size of the stones were so gigantic. It would have been more efficient for regular sized human slave labor to use smaller sized stones.

11:27 PM,

My heart isn't set on speculating about what happened supernaturally in ancient times. It's set on on the glorious future promised by Jesus Christ, that is beyond anything human beings can imagine.

But it could be helpful to have something intelligible to say to a world that grows ever more interested in the supernatural, because it is starved for the bread of life, and it looks to fill up on the stale junk food that it finds throughout pop culture.

I know people who are like that, and I have to be able to talk to them and not just be dogmatic, since they aren't believers. It doesn't mean I compromise or that I am overly confident in my speculations. I find it reasonable to oppose my speculations to their speculations.

They feel smug and smart-ass if they think Christians have no answers and even seem afraid of the truth. It's my job that the gospel does not get put to shame, so I have answers.

Haters won’t be swayed, but Hamas lies about Gaza hospital blast are being exposed

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/haters-won-t-be-swayed-but-hamas-lies-about-gaza-hospital-blast-are-being-exposed/ar-AA1iqdrt

As the fog of war begins to lift, or rather the heavy layer of Hamas disinformation, it appears increasingly clear that it was not a hospital that was hit in Gaza but a hospital parking lot, that the death toll was likely in the dozens not the hundreds, and that the culprit was not the IDF but a faulty rocket fired by Islamic Jihad. And that Hamas knew this very quickly, and nevertheless worked very quickly to disseminate the “Israel to blame” narrative.

If there is another terrorist strike on U.S. soil, as there was on 9/11, we will surely go to war again in the Middle East. Not that we won't be drawn into war again if there is not another terrorist strike on U.S. soil.

Christian Headlines is promoting Dispensationalism, along with blind support for political Israel. Terrorism is never right, and Hamas is evil; but if God didn't see Israel as being a nation that could do no wrong in the Old Testament, why would He see Israel that way now? If Jesus didn't unconditionally support the leadership of Jerusalem who were still theocratic, why should the body of Christ unconditionally support the secular and geopolitical leadership of Israel? All I'm asking for is that, even if we give support to Israel, we don't do it blindly and unconditionally

Don't know why anyone would believe wild speculation from GOP operative and radio personality Ed Martin. He's help defend numerous convicted insurrectionists, extensively participated in election denial and absolutely looks like a Opus Dei, or more likely Knights of Malta operative considering his education (below), associations, opinions, and involvement as president of the Phyllis Schlafly Eagles (Phyliss Schlafly was Knights of Malta).

It's not surprising he'd want to continue to undermine our country.

From Wikipedia:

Ed Martin grew up in the Whitehouse Station section of Readington Township, New Jersey, the middle of three children of a lawyer father and nurse mother. Following his graduation from St. Peter's Preparatory School, Martin attended the College of the Holy Cross, majoring in English. While at Holy Cross he was awarded a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship to study water purification in Indonesia for a year. Leaving Indonesia, Martin next attended Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy, on a Rotary International scholarship, earning another bachelor's degree. While in Rome, he decided to attend law school and was accepted to Saint Louis University School of Law.

While at law school, Martin attended a Thanksgiving dinner with Pope John Paul II in 1997. Martin received an invitation to the dinner because he served as the sole youth representative expert of the Synod of the Bishops on the Americas.

Following graduation, Martin worked first as director of the Human Rights Office for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Jake Lang's incarceration pending trial is due to a long series of delays, largely by his own attorney's filing motions, appeals and whatnot over the course of several years in front of a Trump-appointed Federal Judge. His trial was set for Jan 2023 but his attorney's appealled to the Supreme Court further delaying the trial. If they delay long enough, perhaps they are hoping a republican can somehow win the White House in 2024 and discontinue the prosecution prior to conviction. The Trump Judge could be in on such plan???

Also...he's not a "political prisoner".

Here's what Trump-appointed Judge Nichols said about Lang:

Lang is awaiting trial after he was indicted on multiple felony charges in connection with his actions that day, including some that were documented in his own social media posts as they happened.

In upholding the September 20, 2021 order by Judge Carl J. Nichols, the Appellate Court wrote:

"The evidence proffered by the government shows that, over the course of two and a half hours on January 6, 2021, appellant repeatedly pushed, punched, and kicked at police officers defending the Lower West Terrace entrance to the Capitol
building. He also slammed a door against one officer’s head and struck other officers first with a stolen riot shield and later with a metal baseball bat. As we explained in Munchel, “those who actually assaulted police officers . . . are in a different category of dangerousness than those who cheered on the violence or entered the Capitol after others cleared the way."

This also might explain the supposed inappropriate and unkind treatment he's claiming to have received from prison guards.

It's nice to see conservatives concerned with how prisoners are treated. They should be housed humanely. As Christians, it's certainly concerning and I don't celebrate his reports of abuse. But those same federal prisons have been decrepit for years without GOP concern. On the other hand, it's got to be difficult to inprison and keep insurrectionists safe from the other prisoners. I imagine insurrectionist is about as low as pedophiles in prison culture.

I agree with Mrs. Cumbey...continuing to support or even celebrate these new age anti-american insurrectionists and Trump after jan 6th has to be Luciferian in spirit.

The gallows were built on Jan 5th in preparation for the anticipated "stop the steal" protests by and for Trump supporters on Jan 6th some of whom even discussed such on Reddit.

According to analysis from the nonprofit research group Advance Democracy, literally within hours of Trump calling for his followers to come to Washington on January 6 and "be wild," posters at TheDonald.win—successor to the r/The_Donald subreddit—took it as an order. One poster, CaptainChrisBacon, posted a picture asking, "Who Is Bringing The Gallows On January 6th, 2021?" The picture depicted the hanging of a Confederate war criminal—ironic given the number of Confederate flags on display at the insurrection.

Another poster, sunlessmage743, started a thread about the details of building a gallows, saying it could easily be done "with the right plan and the right people bringing pre cut materials to the site." Respondents were positively giddy. One claimed that the scene would be "so 1776." When user DJT2020 suggested they should also build a guillotine, user webthing offered to build it. User jc99ta mused that a guillotine could be used to slice watermelons when it wasn't being used to behead people.

Talk about a gallows dominated TheDonald.win for days afterward.

One user swiped Home Depot's logo to show just how easy it was to find the materials for a gallows. Another offered to bring a 500-foot paracord as a rope—and warned that they would be on the hunt for insufficiently loyal Republicans, as well as Black Lives Matter and "antifa." He initially backed off on using a paracord when told it could decapitate the person being hanged, but later mused that it would at least keep the person being hanged from thrashing about on the gallows. Among those on the list of targets were the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Maxine Waters, Chuck Schumer, and Mitt Romney....
Source: https://www.nationalmemo.com/capitol-riot-gallows

Just keep it simple. Unless someone has actual evidence that the man/men actually filmed erecting the gallows January 5th is/are somehow phsycic men working for and on behalf of the government, in some capacity, hoping to pre-erect great visuals for Jan 6th on behalf of democrats, then just stop being ridiculous.

X,

I'll take a snippet from the article on American Gospel: If you’re a charismatic or cessationist and are disappointed in his [Brown’s] decision…. I’m a continuationist, not a “charismatic”, yet I am REALLY disappointed in Brown’s decision. And trying to use Lawson’s (ill-advised) tongue-in-cheek comment only highlights Brown’s lack of objectivity. He’s run cover for the NAR and leaders in the NAR—including Bill Johnson—for a long time now.

Relatedly, years ago I exposed Bill Johnson himself as a liar in regards to the “House of Generals” mentioned in that AG article. In retrospect, I wish I had fully transcribed Johnson’s video related to this and the James Goll “prophecy” referenced within it, as well. Johnson scrubbed his video on this subject, to the extent that even Internet Archive merely has a thumbnail of the video. Well, at least an outsider can see such a video had existed.

This all began 13 years ago when a reader emailed me something on this subject, prompting me to write a brief blurb about it: Bill Johnson’s Library Mandate.

In the short blog article I wrote, encapsulating what Johnson said in the video:

In honoring these past ‘revival leaders,’ according to Johnson, God will supposedly give “access to their anointings” — i.e., the “anointings” of mainly the dead including the unorthodox William Branham, John G. Lake, Kathryn Kuhlman, etc.

But later that same day I find an article on one of Johnson’s sites, which contradicted his chronology of events. So, on that same day I wrote an update, explaining this contradiction: Update: Bill Johnson’s Library Mandate.

In the comments section to the above I provided a short chronology, perhaps more succinctly illustrating the contradiction:

1) Bill Johnson purchases Roberts Liardon’s library/museum some time in 2008 as evidenced by his February 2, 2009 blog post here: Anointings Come From Honor. This was apparently a part of the “Expansion Mandate.” I’m not clear on when this “Expansion Mandate” was ‘mandated.’

2) Johnson receives a “prophetic word” from James Goll on September 17, 2009 about receiving in the future “something of a library inheritance by somebody with the name ‘Roberts’” yet it was not “just Oral Roberts” but another ‘Roberts.’ Logic would seem to indicate this “Roberts” was Roberts Liardon; and, at this point Johnson already had this library/museum.

3) Johnson uploads a video explaining the purposes of this library/museum (a “direct from headquarters” mandate) and plays within this video of December 9th or 10th (depending on how you count the days) a recording of Goll’s “word” which came in a “dream” . It is proclaimed as a “prophetic word,” as “destiny,” to the audience he was speaking to (presumably Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry). In the video, it appears that the point is that Goll was prophesying about a future inheritance of a “large library” by someone with the name “Roberts” besides Oral Roberts. (I found out in a phone conversation with another blogger this weekend that apparently Liardon was named after Oral Roberts.) Johnson goes on about Liardon’s library/museum making it appear as if this was the subject of the “Roberts” in Goll’s “word.”

A Catholic Palestinian appeals to Biden’s Faith: We are not children of a lesser God. Stop the Genocide

https://milhilard.org/%d9%90-%d9%90-a-catholic-palestinian-appeals-to-bidens-faith-we-are-not-children-of-a-lesser-god-stop-the-genocide/

Dear President Biden

Perhaps I am one of the few who had hoped against hope that your arrival into the holy land today would make a difference. Perhaps this was not the case for those who have already passed, but it definitely, would have for those who are still alive. I was shuddering after the horrific shelling of a Christian hospital reflecting on videos of pieces of children and human bodies strewn all over the grounds. Ten days of relentless shelling on human beings, yes human beings mostly women and children who have no place to hide and no shelters to shield them. We were all awaiting anxiously for a statement from you as the media had described what happened yesterday as a “Game Changer.”

I watched you take on the presidency with an emphasis on being a Christian Catholic president as you attended mass on your inauguration. I wonder if this is what your catholic upbringing has taught you, Mr. Biden. Has it taught you that an eye for a body and a tooth for a head, as an Arab Palestinian Chrisitan catholic, I recall it differently I recall my catholic teachings calling for peace justice forgiveness for equity of all humankind.

“As an Arab Palestinian Catholic, I recall it differently I recall my catholic teachings calling for peace justice forgiveness for equity of all humankind.”

Since when has war brought about Peace? Since when has killing ended the cycle of violence, I am not a president nor am I in charge, but I am old enough to have heard the stories of my grandparents’ survival of the Ottoman period and my parent’s British mandate as well as the ethnic cleansing in 1948. I am old enough to have witnessed the Palestinian dispossession and violations of human rights since 1967, and old enough to have served in hospitals during shelling and witnessed the missing heads and limbs. Old enough to have helped at the Anglican hospital that got shelled yesterday, to patch up the legs and limbs of a whole generation that was rendered disabled as Palestinians from Gaza tried to March to end the siege. Old enough to see a generation of youth losing hope, and watching the transgenerational trauma continue; generations of women and mothers mourning the loss and imprisonment of their loved ones.

As you are older than me Mr. Biden, and have personally suffered loss, have you not seen that war only brings about more death and destruction and hate?

God grants life and takes away life, however, it is how we have lived our life that makes a difference, if only you had stood there on the 7th of October and said it differently, you might have made a difference for peace in this world. Once more today my optimism in life was crushed because what is happening in Gaza is being described as crimes against humanity according to international law. Upon your arrival to the holy land, you decided to align yourself with those causing the suffering instead of doing what needs to be done: uphold the conventions of human rights and hold all parties to count. We are not children of a lesser God Mr. President we are the Palestinian Christians of the holy land where the message of love peace and justice started, and we call upon you to stop this Genocide.

Two young Palestinian women died in a Gaza church, treated like ‘human animals’

https://religionnews.com/2023/10/21/two-young-palestinian-women-died-in-a-gaza-church-treated-like-human-animals/

What is most disheartening is that we have yet to hear a strong moral call for an end to the assault on human beings made in the likeness of God. We are hearing more from Jewish people, such as Jewish Voices for Peace, demanding a ceasefire than we are hearing from Christian leaders. On Oct. 20, Palestinian Christians sent an open letter to Western church leaders and theologians, a “call for repentance” that has garnered thousands of signatures and is being circulated around the world.

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

"Two days."

Yes, and then back to your usual malice, so what?

A hatchet in one hand and your own yardstick in the other, but where's the chapter and verse for that, dude?

Is this person also calling on Hamas to stop it's inhumanity, as well as Biden who is enabling Iran who is funding and supplying missiles, etc. for Hamas, to launch against innocents in Israel and the Hamas missile that hit the Hospital in Gaza that also killed innocents there?

8:55 PM,

I can't ask her. If she's not, she should be. The things you voiced are frequently expressed. Voices like hers are not heard very much. We hear about Palestinians, but we don't hear much about Palestinian Christians. Palestinian Christians are a part of the mystical body of Christ. In a way, they are the least of us. Who wants to hear from them? Their stories are inconvenient and embarrassing to the Zionist support that comes from the Western, especially the American, churches.

The things you said are said all the time, and it's not that they should not be said, or that I don't agree with them. But notice how you immediately wanted to shout them over her voice and didn't dwell long to listen to what she had to say.

Does this make you feel a little happier, 8:55 PM? Who do you think labored in the harvest when the Holy Spirit moved to convert this man to Christianity? Do you think the shouters and haters did the work?

Son of Hamas leader breaks silence on decision to denounce terror group: 'They don't care' about Palestinians

Mosab Hassan Yousef emphasized that civilians in Gaza needed to be evacuated

https://www.foxnews.com/media/son-hamas-leader-breaks-silence-decision-denounce-terror-group-care-palestinians

The son of a founding Hamas leader broke his silence on his decision to denounce the terrorist group after he turned on his own family and converted to Christianity, suggesting Israel "explore using gas" to get Hamas out of the tunnels in Gaza.

Mosab Hassan Yousef, who spied in favor of the Israelis and sought asylum in the U.S., spoke out on his decision to leave the life of terror behind and explained what he believes Israel should do during "FOX & Friends" on Thursday.

Jesus Christ is the Rock who crushes all mountains. Be a part of his Rock, not a part of a mountain. The mountains are nations and tribes and ideologies and political allegiances. The Rock is Jesus Christ and his mystical body, the church.

The former member of Hamas, who was a leader's son and a prince among his people, joined the mystical body of Jesus Christ. When he did so, he fractured his own family. It couldn't have been any other way, unless his family had also converted.

Every convert from Islam to Christianity creates a fracture in a mountain.

But what we don't see is that we must be willing at times to fracture our own mountains, too, in a sense. Test all things and hold fast to that which is good. Everything that is of our own ideologies and politics is not good. Some of it needs to crumble away and will crumble away and get blown away.

In this Youtube video, John Hagee preached at Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia on October 15th. Free Chapel is a megachurch that is pastored by the televangelist Jentezen Franklin. His backdrop as he spoke was a mural with pictures of the events of Revelation. He said that the Bible has prophesied that China, Russia and/or Iran's armies will come against Israel and that God will wipe them out. After that we will be living in the millennium. In the millennium, he said that “there will be 1,000 years of perfect peace, no presidential elections, no fake news, none of all of this nonsense.”

This is an example of what happens from misunderstanding the past fulfillment of Matthew 25 and Revelation 1-19. It wouldn't be able to happen without two things: ignorance of the Old Testament and ignorance of history. Ideas have consequences. Bad ideas have victims.

I meant to write the past fulfillment of Matthew 24, not Matthew 25, which I believe remains unfulfilled, along with Revelation 20-22.

It can't be Jerusalem in the battle of Gog and Magog of the end of Revelation. The "beloved city" is a "city without walls."

It's hard to believe a Palestinian would turn on his own people to support a regime that wants to wipe them off the face of the earth. I understand his denouncing Hamas, but I doubt he would join with Israel. Sounds like Faux News propaganda.

12:47 PM,

He has not turned on the entire Palestinian people. If you read the article, you'll see he says that Hamas doesn't care about the Palestinians. Hamas uses them as human shields. Hamas is backed by Iran. It's not nationalist. Did you read it?

It's hard to believe the Holy Spirit would be able to get a Palestinian to turn on his own family who are terrorists and whom he saw hurt the Palestinian people, too? Are you Christian? Do you have faith that God can do anything?

It's not the first terrorist conversion, and it won't be the last. Where have you been?

You know the story of Paul on the road to Damascus, right? He was persecuting the early Christians. He became the Apostle to the gentiles after being blinded by the transfigured Jesus appearing to him on the road. You know that, right?

This story right here, of this former Hamas terrorist, if evidence of continuationism, better than speaking in tongues. Take the scales off your eyes so you can see it.

I typically do not take any hard stances on eschatology, for there are myriad views, and I’m not confident I’ve got it all figured out. The best I can do is criticize portions that are not fully fleshed out (a process of elimination)—and all those I’ve read contain gaps and errors of some sort.

To wit, Matthew 24 cannot be understood as completely fulfilled due to Matthew 24:31–32. These verses clearly refer to Jesus’ Second Coming and the ingathering. Furthermore, we shouldn’t read Revelation as a strict chronology—not saying you are, necessarily—and I don’t see how Rev 11:15–18 (the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name) can be interpreted as already fulfilled.

Just came across this:

The God Who Speaks | FULL MOVIE | Alistair Begg, Erwin Lutzer, Norman Geisler, & R.C. Sproul

The list of contributing voices are:

Alistair Begg, Darrell Bock, D.A. Carson, Gareth Cockerill, Kevin DeYoung, Ligon Duncan, Norman Geisler, Karen Jobes, Michael Kruger, Erwin Lutzer, Conrad Mbewe, Josh McDowell, Alex McFarland, Albert Mohler, Bill Mounce, John Oswalt, Vern Poythress, R.C. Sproul, Carl Trueman, Frank Turek, Daniel Wallace, Jarvis Williams, and Ben Witherington.

Looks like a GREAT group (only less than a handful were unfamiliar to me).

[Now, of course, the only problem here is that the group includes a woman (Karen Jobes), and we all know that women are to be silent "in church".]
