This video has it all: Tony Blair, Rick Warren, Karen Armstrong in a 2008 World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland. I watched it a couple of weeks ago and then couldn't locate it again for awhile. Rick of Medford placed a link to it in our comments section which he called to my attention on a telephone call. Thanks, Rich!
That Rick Warren's PEACE PLAN is not a Christian action plan, but one highly syncretistic is proved by this next video, EXHIBIT B:
And, last but not least, the New Agers consider Rick Warren an important guru. I know enough about that community that despite Richard Abanes' false protestations that Rick Warren is "anti-New Age," the New Agers would not feature him unless they were convinced on very good authority that he was "one of them." Read all about it here and here:
Stay tuned!

Constance,
ReplyDeleteI personally don't think Rick Warren's intentions are bad. He is misguided for sure and probably does not know what he's getting into.
As for Nirmala Devi on the list you posted. I have come across her writings.
Her writings are specifically opposed to Orthodox Judaism and Catholicism.
Savvy
Savvy,
ReplyDeleteThis time I must respectfully disagree although I enjoy most of your postings. Rick Warren is a former SDS supporter. He knows about the New Age Movement. He allegedly knows end time prophecies. I believe he knows EXACTLY what he is doing -- delivering us up!
Constance
Savvy,
ReplyDeleteSomebody posted this link to my last Blogspot article. Quoting from it (an article by Carol Brooks), we read:
"Rick Warren’s Strange Bedfellows
Carol Brooks
Are we supposed to believe that Rick Warren is ignorant of the goals of every event he speaks at? The beliefs of everyone he shares a stage with or whose book he endorses? Or should we consider the words of the prophet Amos... “Shall two walk together, except they have agreed?” [Amos 3:3]"

Constance
Constance,
ReplyDeleteWhat does Rick Warren's views differ from someone like Pat Robertson on this issue?
Savvy
Even disregarding Warren's obvious ties to the New Age, his purpose driven Drucker-inspired introduction of corporate principles into the church is more than enough evidence to identify his intent, IMHO. This man seems to recognize no worldly limitation in his embrace of heresy. Robertson and Warren indeed appear to be cut from the same cloth, IE they both seek social justice; Robertson seeks his utopia through Dominionism (as do Mormons, Islam, etc.). The methods employed to achieve the end result may differ, but the final desired product is the same. It's high time the Bible-believing church exercised some discernment.
ReplyDeleteRick Warren, remember, is purpose-driven. Everything he has accomplished has been with a lot of forethought. This is a man who is most gifted at knowing people and how to relate to them. If you sat in a room with him, he would instantly put you at ease. He's witty and folksy. He knows how to engage people in discussion. If you were trapped in an elevator with either Rick Warren or Pat Robertson, you would want to be stuck with Rick. He's just a great guy.
ReplyDeleteI will give him credit for giving churches a format for getting Christians to not just talk about their faith, but to connect with each other. Some churches can just sit literally dormant and lethargic. In some ways, Warren has given these churches a kick in the pants.
It's not so much his theology, although I think it's a bit screwy. Like I said, his gift is in knowing people; theology is not his greatest asset. It's what he's emersed himself in. This is the biggest concern with Warren. At least it's my biggest concern.
HOWEVER...
ReplyDeleteI first discovered this blog after our church went through a second 40-day experience (40 Days of Community) with Rick Warren. I joined a small group. Each week we would watch a video and do readings that corresponded. He had mentioned creating another 40 Day program involving a global element and it sounded so strange. This was the final red flag that led me to do a web search on Rick Warren and the New Age Movement. This was before I even heard of Javier Solana and before I could pronounce Barack Hussein Obama (really, I didn't know how to say his name.)
Back then, I was wondering about the False Prophet thing, especially as I read up on Javier Solana. I wondered back then if these two were the gruesome twosome, so to speak. This was back when Rick Warren was just getting his P.E.A.C.E. plan going.
Now, though, he is involved with some major global government entities. I don't know what he originally intended when he established and built up his megachurch, Saddleback. However, he has tainted himself with very worldly things. In the Purpose-Driven Life he talks about being a world class Christian. Yet Jesus tells us to be in the world, not of the world. Rick Warren seems to be blurring this distinction. And, it's a black and white distinction. You are either in the world or of the world. You either choose to be Godly or worldly. I don't think there is an in-between.
I'm not saying that Rick Warren is the False Prophet or that Javier Solana is the Antichrist with any certainty. I don't know who the bozos will eventually be. When Obama came along, that just confused me even more. We just have to watch these people.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I first started commenting on this blog that Constance at the time didn't know much about Rick Warren. I think, though, that has certainly changed.
THEMICROEFFECT.COM has power outage issues today due to a windstorm and is consequently down. Chatroom is open, however, and you can get to that. I'll take live questions in the chatroom until they get back on line for the broadcasting end.
ReplyDeleteSorry!

Purpose driven.

Keep in mind that Rick Warren studied under C. Peter Wagner at Fuller Theological Seminary. Wagner is a staunch Dominionist and forerunner of the NAR-styled "spiritual warfare."
ReplyDeleteWarren has his part to play, Wagner his and so it goes.
Rick Warren is a pee-on I think. He's been conversationally disruptive to many but he doesn't represent a sweeping change in the way ANY Christians are thinking. He doesn't present an alluring doctrine that most Christians could or would follow. He's another apostate in a long line of apostates and most identify him as such. I'm pretty well convinced he's just another tool in the movement to water down doctrine. Warren isn't a menace so much as he's part of a front to lead those who might be seeking Christ away from Him and is therefore evil.
ReplyDeleteWe could put the brakes on him easily if we wanted to.
Steve,
ReplyDeleteRick Warren established one of the largest megachurches in the country. His Purpose-Driven Life was number 1 on the bestseller list for what, two years. You should check out the Saddleback Church website. Do any web search on Rick Warren. He's a superstar. It's only a matter of time before someone makes a movie about him.
Craig,
Thanks for reminding me about his connection to C. Peter Wagner. There's so much about Rick Warren that screams new age.
Billy Graham has, per book on Rick Warren, claimed God passed his (Graham's) mantle to Rick Warren!

ReplyDeleteGood connection you've shown.
I never saw it spelled out before, and probably others haven't either.
For those who don't remember it, here's Alice Bailey of Lucis Trust and the "prayer" which leads her books.

Through Alice Bailey and Djwhal Khul
Let the Forces of Light bring illumination to mankind.
Let the Spirit of Peace be spread abroad.
May men of goodwill everywhere meet in a spirit of cooperation.
May forgiveness on the part of all men be the keynote at this time.
Let power attend the efforts of the Great Ones.
So let it be, and help us to do our part. Stanza One 1935
* * * * * * *
Let the Lords of Liberation issue forth.
Let Them bring succour to the sons of men.
Let the Rider from the Secret Place come forth,
And coming, save.
Come forth, O Mighty One. .....
Let Light and Love and Power and Death
Fulfil the purpose of the Coming One.....
Let Light and Love and Power and Death
Fulfil the purpose of the Coming One....
Best is to read the entire thing. I thought I also copied these lines from the Invocation, but here they are again. "C" is giving me trouble on the keyboard. I guess I need a new keyboard.

"From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men -
The purpose which the Masters know and serve."
It's a very spooky piece of writing.
Hi, first time poster here. I watched all the videos linked under Rick Warren and I gotta say, I just don't see where he's trying to start a New World Religion. I hear him talking about Jesus though among the leaders of the other religious faiths.
ReplyDeleteI think we are all going to find out that we were wrong on so many things. I mean, could you imagine being Peter and have the Lord look at you and declare "get behind me Satan? He ended up using Peter greatly though.
That's what the Lord does, He uses the despised things of the world. He couldn't do a thing with the Pharasees though. They thought they had it all figured out and rejected their Messiah!
I just think it's dangerous the be so focused on the Anti-Christ or the False Prophet, or even the One World Religion. It's already written, it's going to happen.
Granted though, from a curious perspective, these things are interesting and perhaps can give us a sense of where we are time-wise.
I'm just saying, I don't see Rick Warren being the Flase Prophet. Everyone needs to hear about Jesus. Even the Imam's and Rabbi's and Al Gore's of the world. Maybe that's his calling.
I know, I'm a hopeless optimist. :)
