Sleepless in Michigan

It is 5:15 a.m.  I have been up since 4 a.m.  I'm in court for a client in distress at 8:30 a.m., so the chances of more sleep tonight are nil to nada.  I tend to sleep lightly when I know I will have to rise early.  Since I can't sleep, I'm resorting to my alternative remedies of reading and writing.

I'm watching the obscenely repeated news of insults to Christians in Indiana and Arkansas.  For those who think nothing is happening (in apocalyptic terms), I suggest you read your newspapers and listen/watch mainstream news with the prophecies in mind of war against those who "keep the Faith of Jesus and the Commandments of God".  It is becoming increasingly difficult in our Society which is now demanding we abandon biblical precepts and injunctions to "keep the patience of the Saints."  (Revelation 14:12).

I am privileged to know one modern day political martyr to forces demanding we now beatify what for thousands of years was condemned in our society -- "same sex marriage", "civil unions" and public flaunting of unclothed, unmasked sexuality, sometimes even bordering on bestiality.  Her name is Janice Daniels.  She was the mayor of Troy, Michigan until she courageously expressed her traditional Christian beliefs against blatant and open homosexuality on her Facebook page.  LGBT activists loudly howled and then successfully in a well funded effort recalled her as mayor of that important Detroit/Oakland County, Michigan suburb.

Again, as a veteran of the 60's/70's, the years I came fully of age, I must fondly reminisce about my generation, that although having its faults -- still had now largely unfashionable practices of getting married -- man to woman -- and keeping out of wedlock matters "discrete."

Probably that practice of not putting one's sexual business in another's face then wisely called "discretion" is now categorized as "hypocrisy."  Maybe in some senses it was, but it certainly made life much more livable for all. Today, we have an ugly in your face Movement and suddenly First Amendment "freedom of religion" has taken a backseat to forcing people, e.g. judges and magistrates to perform same sex marriages, to perform acts that are directly contradictory to at least the Bible I grew up with.

As unfashionable as it now seems, as I recall Creation, it was "Adam and Eve" NOT "Adam and Steve; nor was it "MADAM AND EVE."

It is now increasingly clear to me that the prophesied war is in full swing progress against believers.  The Scriptures also warned us that "my people perish for lack of knowledge."  Towards that end, I have invited and Janice Daniels has accepted my invitation to be my internet radio guest this Saturday morning at 10 a.m. on the MicroEffect network.  You can join us both live and in the chatroom by going to www.TMERADIO.com and/or www.themicroeffect.com.

I'm still working hard on the Hi-Jacking of Evangelicalism, Part VII article.  I'm currently reading E. Stanley Jones' book, THE CHRIST OF THE AMERICAN ROAD towards that end.  He was part of "the twelve" who along with Glenn Clark, Roland Gammon, Rufus Jones, Abraham (Abram) Vereide and others participated in the annual New Year's Day retreats at Marian Clark's embassy row mansion in Washington, D.C.

Tune in Saturday and please stay tuned!

While it is true that “No Man Knoweth the Day or Hour" - we are to remain ever alert and watchful.

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken” (Luke 21:25-26).

“And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come” (Joel 2:30-31).

“The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining” (Joel 3:15).

Keeping God's WORD in our minds and in our hearts, these are the dates of FOUR consecutive total eclipses...in a series known as a TETRAD:

On April 15, 2014, there was a total lunar eclipse (where the moon appeared blood red).

The second total lunar eclipse took place on October 8, 2014.

The third and fourth total lunar eclipse will take place on April 4, 2015 (this Saturday)...and on Saturday, September 28, 2015.

  3. Constance,
Last night I heard a small group of Conservatives
talking about ISIS and all their brutality and
the question arose, where are the Feminists in
this and where are the gays in this conversation?
Why do the LGBT people spend so much energy tearing down America, when America is one country that protects them. Where is the LGBT rage against radical Islam making huge inroads right here in the States, when they've already essentially neutered large swaths of Europe?
What these conservatives don't even realize is that
Islam is, at the top levels, GAY, exactly like the Nazis were.
    Yes it does sound absurd.
The thing is, they they ARE gay in the way wherein they persecute and kill the effeminate ones but encourage and protect the "butch" types, just as
Hitler, and Himmler, and Hess and company did.
    See: "The Pink Swastika" book.
For that matter, pedophilia and even beastiality are also commonplace.
Which also explains why you don't hear an outcry
from ISIS regarding homosexuality. We just assume they hate it.

    FYI ~

When Catholics go to mass, they hear a reading from the Old Testament; they say or sing one of the Psalms; then they listen to a reading from the epistles; then a gospel reading. Catholics follow a 3 year cycle of Scripture reading; so, a Catholic who goes to church faithfully will (over that 3 year period) hear nearly the entire Bible read.

    I agree with you, Paul.
Sexual lust with no stops put to it progressively bonds itself to blood lust.

Joel 2:30-1 is very clearly describing nuclear explosions; given the terms available 2500 years ago the image simply could not be clearer. But all this stuff about blood moons is from Jonathan Cahn, whose writing is distinctly of the crank school. In another book he claims that the Jubilee 50-year pattern is not just for ancient Israel but it writ through the cosmos and specifically the financial markets. to reach that conclusion involved a spectacular piece of selectivity in analyzing the data.

  8. anon 11:09

I used to buy this read modern technology into the Bible
idea, but I think when you look at the descriptions, and bear in mind that
nuclear war as per the visible effects is too local and limited, that these
are SUPERNATURAL events. Something that can't be shrugged off by the observers
as "oh, its just another thermonuclear bomb" or "oh, its just
    another lunar eclipse."

The blood moons thing was tracked through history by one debunker, who
noted that nothing happened regarding the Jews on many of the events this
    coincided with Jewish holy days.

If keeping track of Jewish holy days was anything we should do for any reason,
surely Paul would have said so when he said to stop doing this. I suspect
its disguised origins are Hebrew Roots Movement stuff.

Also many of these when they DID correspond to anything, happened
AFTER the events not before, which is not much of a "warning."

  9. Anonymous11:36 AM

Christine I can't tell which parts of my post you are agreeing with and disagreeing with. We agree that the blood moons and jubilee patterns are uncorrelated with world events. I am unhappy to see the "Hebrew Roots" movement criticised without discrimination because the Christian faith palpable DOES have Hebrew roots; the point is not to get hung up on observance of Jewish laws. As for Joel, look on YouTube at the Hiroshima and Nagasaki detonations and consider the description "blood, fire and pillars of smoke..."

From NASA's website last year on March 27, 2014:

The action starts on April 15th when the full Moon passes through the amber shadow of Earth, producing a midnight eclipse visible across North America. So begins a lunar eclipse tetrad—a series of 4 consecutive total eclipses occurring at approximately six month intervals. The total eclipse of April 15, 2014, will be followed by another on Oct. 8, 2014, and another on April 4, 2015, and another on Sept. 28 2015.

I am disagreeing with the connection between cataclysmic sign descriptions and nuclear war
I am agreeing with you on Jonathan Cahn and adding (without source cite because
of time) a debunker's info which can probably be found with google or yahoo.
I didn't realize he started the blood moons thing, I thought it was Hagee,
but this is so recent and I so ignore ALL these "evangelical" preachers
that perhaps I can be forgiven for this error. we each have our own
expertise and I am glad you kept track of all this.

yes Christianity does have Hebrew roots, which fact is exploited by
"judaiziers" that the Epistle to the Galatians is written against.
Frankly I think we are a Jewish sect, though of course the correct one the
others are in error but RC and EO and most protestants and 99.99% of Jews
would scream bloody murder at hearing that. A bishop online in an egroup once actually didn't know that Christ and Messiah mean the same thing "Anointed."

yet the Holy Liturgy and marriage with crowns in first marriages and fasting two days a week is from first century judaism.

Oh, OK. I guess that NASA must have consulted with Jonathan Cahn and his 'crank writing' before they published their article last year, huh? LOL

    No, 'this stuff' originally came
    from Joel 2:30-31 as follows:

“And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come” (Joel 2:30-31).

the events occurring are not at issue.

the MEANING of the events occuring is what is at issue.

Joel 2:30-31 is not about this, because lunar eclipses and solar eclipses are
nothing outrageous even in those days.

But if you read this therefore as SIMULTANEOUS darkening of sun and moon,
then it is way outside of possibility.

No "blood moons" no effort to equate normal events with biblical prophecy,
instead a SUPERNATURAL event without precedent.

    The Harbinger debunked

the one point Cahn got right may be this "For instance, perhaps some of the nine harbingers extracted from Isaiah 9:10 should be more rightfully seen as signs from man rather than signs from God. Isaiah 9:10 is a symbol of the nation of Israel’s defiance to the calamities that befell her and rather than repenting before God, Israelite leaders boasted that they would rebuild to where they would be stronger than before. Consequently, this defiance and boasting can only be seen as a “sign” in the sense that America is making the same mistake that Israel made (i.e., boasting of their resolve to rebuild rather than repenting before God). What’s more, Cahn sees the harbingers of Isaiah 9:10 as a call to national repentance, but if we read further, we find that Isaiah declares, “For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the Lord of hosts” (Isaiah 9:13). In other words, God is declaring through Isaiah His acknowledgment that Israel has not and will not repent, consequently just as judgment has already arrived, there is more to come."

sure its a sign from man that man is not going to get the message and repent.
The choice of a rebellious passage to be read seems to come from two things,
a rebellious and prideful heart, that loves anything sounding gung ho and
that gives you sense of welling up in yourself, strong, certainty.....watch
    out for that stuff.
and the second problem is the tendency to read only a verse or two
and not apply what one Christian called
"the 20-20 rule," read 20 verses prior and 20 verses after whatever
verse you are offered, to make sure you got the context and know what
in fact God was talking about.

So combining these two things, you get a statement of rebellion against God,
read out as being cool, because in the Bible, and "inspiration" to get
    going and rebuild.

drag up relationship with Christ and salvific issues as if these were a

Mahdi to return by 2016, followed by Jesus?

Mainstream Muslim website makes official announcement

It’s not only evangelical Christians who are sensing that something has changed in the world, and that we may be entering the very last days.

Muslims are also eagerly awaiting their messiah.

In the latest evidence of this messianic fervor, a mainstream Sunni Muslim website has decreed that the Islamic messiah, called the Mahdi, will appear this year or in 2016 and that the Muslim Jesus will return in 2022 to conquer the world for Islam.

DiscoveringIslam.org and the End Times Research Center have calculated that the “first phase” of the end of time will begin soon and lead to the “Day of Judgment” in seven years.

The estimates were derived from “the latest research” into numerical analysis of the Quran, Hadith, Arabic words and historical events,” according to DiscoveringIslam.org.

“The Messenger of Allah [sallallahu 'alayhi wa-sallam] informed the Companions of everything that would occur until the Day of Resurrection,” the website reports.

“Based on our numerical analysis of the Quran and Hadith, the official beginning of the End of Time and the coming of the Imam Mahdi will most likely be in 2015 (or 2016) and Jesus Christ (p) will come down from Heaven to Earth in 2022, in-sha Allah (if Allah is willing),” the website reported.

The Quran and the Bible put forth end-times narratives that are similar but opposite. The Bible’s antichrist, for instance, resembles Islam’s messiah while Muslims view the Jesus of the Bible as their antichrist or “Dajjal.” The Quran teaches that Jesus returns to earth but for a very different purpose – to “break the cross” and convert the world’s Christians to Islam.

Exactly why her words, when using scripture to supposedly teach (inform) us about God, have absolutely no life in them.
The very opposite of what the Holy Spirit does with the words of the bible. In Him they are Life. And she uses them to berate us for not seeing it her way.

She first needs the Holy Spirit of God in her and then she will have life worth talking about.
The clanging cymbal in her refuses to stop. If she did she might begin to know why she is clanging.

This whole situation with these laws in Indiana and Arkansas have been completely blown out of proportion by the media--especially the liberal media. The media was just waiting for the one business to "discriminate" against gays. A little pizzeria with an owner who has a right to deny service to anyone.

As for the blood moon theory, I don't know what to think. With so much happening throughout the world--an Iranian deal that only benefits Iran, an extreme drought in California, Christian persecution by Muslim extremists--I'll stop there. It's depressing.

  26. To Anonymous 8:43 re scripture/Bible readings in Catholic masses. As I understand it, you are correct. There are four readings every service: 2 scripture readings from Old and New Testament; a reading from the Psalms and then a reading by the priest/deacon from the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John). The sermon / "homily" is supposed to be based on those readings that are universal world wide. I was told by Malachi Martin years ago in a telephone conversation that it was designed for Catholics who attended mass daily to hear the entire Bible over a 3 year span and for those who went only to Sunday and "Holy Day" masses to hear the entire Bible read orally over a 7 year period.

I personally think there is no substitute for sitting down and reading it -- but I was told it was designed in the days of much lesser literacy and less access to the printed word.

I think it is an unfair criticism that Catholics don't hear the Bible -- many may carelessly listen, some priests may incorrectly or wrongly interpret it, but the scriptures are proclaimed in clear readings.

As there is no such thing as a perfect person (outside of our Lord when here), there is no such thing, IMHO, as a perfect Church.

The seed of the Word falls onto all types of ground -- good, bad, and indifferent and takes root accordingly. Jesus clearly taught this.

Thank you for pointing out the designed Scriptural emphasis -- now if we would all just start to take such seriously and participate with "active listening."

Interestingly, while perusing my library last night, I read his autobiography which contained a fascinating account of an airline conversation he had with Doug Coe. I had archived the conversation to use on my series on the hi-jacking of evangelicalism. Doug Coe succeeded Abram Vereide on ICL (International Christian Leadership). Here is a portion of those Coe remarks. Bear in mind BMH's (Barbara Marx Hubbard's) boasts about the groups with outwardly different purposes 'merging, blending, and coming together to do THE ONE WORK:

"As your ministry goes out to As ia and the Orient," he advised,
"remember that so many of th ese countries have been, at one time
or another in th eir history, invaded and controll ed by European
nations that have call ed th emselves Christian . For th at reason, be

have a lot of histori cal baggage . They can be an instant turn-off to
Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and peopl e who prac tice oth er
    anci ent world religions."
"Then what do I call myself?" 1 asked .
"Call yourself a foll ower of Jesus Christ. And live Christ's life of
    love and pea ce.
"Remember, Jesus didn 't come to start a new religion. He never
coined or encouraged the use of the word 'Christiani ty.' He never
told his di sciples to call th emselve 'Christians.' He did counsel
th em in these wise and wonderful words: 'I am the light of the
world. He that foll ows me shall not walk in darkness, but in the
light.' Our mission is not to convert people to a new religion, but
rather to inspire them to be followers ofJesus Christ.
"I've seen hundreds of small groups made up of Buddhists and
other world religions that meet regularly to study the life of Jesus.
They read the Bible. They ask, 'How can we be followers of Christ? . . .

The conversation is contained on pages 484-485 of Schuller's MY JOURNEY

It appears to me that Coe was actively promoting a New World Religion pursuit by Schuller (who was probably already clearly in that game -- Coe reinforced it).

Today Schuller is dead. No many knoweth the day nor the hour -- even his own!

The blood moons fall on Passover and Sukkot, Feast of Tabernacles 2 consecutive years. The solar eclipse is at the end of the shemitah cycle ( land sabbath ever 7 years) .

God said he made the 2 luminaries in the sky ( the sun and moon) for signs ( prophetic) and seasons (appointments in the original language)

Not only is the Supreme Court about to vote on homosexual marriage, but the US is in the process of signing a controversial nuclear deal with Iran which threatens Israel and everyone else's existence. Iran wants to usher in the mehdi and has repeatedly stated that they want to destroy the big satan and little satan ( US and Israel).

The signs are multiplying every day with wars and rumors of wars in the Mideast and Europe.
US foreign policy is anti-Israel and the next Security Council vote on a Palestinian State is may not get a US veto as it has in the past.

If anyone doesn't think these are prophetic signs are designed to warn us then all I can say is God help you, you're in for some big surprises.

God doesn't leave his children without warning, but are we listening?

The Palestinians just joined the ICC, and nations are voting symbolically for a PA State. US just offered Saudi Arabia to look at the deal they came out with several years ago, pushing Israel back to 67 borders which were no more than armistice lines, not actual borders.

The Middle East is on fire. What other signs do we need? Our systems are all one giant debt bubble about to explode any minute.

However, we must remember that the spirit of the Antichrist has always been present in the world. It's hard to pinpoint when "evil spirits" began are current state of the world. Was it 9/11? I think it's a real stretch to say that hearing 4 readings a week for 3 years (and that's going every week for 3 straight years) related at all to knowing the Word or being familiar with it. Don't even get me started on the 7 year plan, that's absolutely ludicrous to suggest you are knowledgeable with the Word over that time period.

Most Catholics nowadays are Christmas flowers or Easter lilies and do not attend on a regular basis. It's usually the older generation 50+ who do attend regularly with exceptions of course. I speak from witnessing firsthand experience over involvement with several RCC churches over 30 years.

And most Catholics DO NOT pick up a bible outside of the readings they do hear in church.

Just another blatant attempt to try and put Catholics in a positive light when regarding the Word when it's actually an outright lie for Constance or any other catholic to claim that most Catholics engage in the Word as much as anyone else when they DO NOT.

There are faithful Catholics who attend regularly and engage in the Word, but they are a MAJOR MINORITY of the entire faith itself. It is shameful for anyone to pretend that most of the worlds Catholics do read the bible outside of the church.

    Constance,

As you are probably aware, E. Stanley Jones ( "Brother Stanley") is the founder of the "Christian Ashram Movement."

    http://www.christianashram.org/e-stanley-jones.html

The minute I saw the word "indigenization" with reference to Jones' mission, I thought..."Antonio Gramsci".... "Marxism"....

In my opinion, this is a facet of the New Age Movement that is disguising itself as the :"New Evangelicalism." The Catholic Church has already "seen this movie."

In the 1950's Reader’s Digest had published an article entitled “Methodism’s Pink Fringe” (February 1950). Jones was pictured unsympathetically as a Communist sympathizer, or worse. Responding to the charge in his Columbus talk, Jones retorted: “Breathes there a man with soul so dead, who never has been called a Red?”

Jones was a modernist Methodist missionary to India. He was a prolific writer and in his writings we find the soul and spirit of what is being called the "New Evangelicalism."

The following is exerpted from an article posted at the American Presbyterian Press.

What Jones is saying is that the same Christianity, the same Bible, the same Christ that produced Christian civilization in the West, with free enterprise, constitutional government, and a society ruled by God's moral law need not do the same thing in India. Instead the "Christ of the Indian Road" may well lead them into the paths of socialism, Marxism, and revolution. India can have Christ and Marx, too. How barbaric of our missionaries to demand that India give up its paganism, heathenism, and idolatry! How arrogant of us to tell the Indian people that they must forsake all to follow Christ! Why, we're as bad as those infidel Mohammedans!

This incredible missionary, who refused to defend the faith in Jerusalem, is now willing to defend Hinduism from the just and righteous claims of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to total surrender to the Creator of the ends of the earth. Christ is to be added to the anti‑Christ culture of heathen Hindu India and this "whited sepulchre" is to be passed off as India's expression of Christianity. Whatever motivated Jones' ministry in India it was obviously not delivering them from the spiritual darkness, bondage, and idolatry that plagues that land. Again, with unerring genius, Jones has touched on the heart and soul of the New Evangelicalism. Exposing not only its refusal to contend for the faith, but also its contradictory emphasis on Christ and Christ only to the exclusion of the "full counsel of God." Preach Christ, but don't talk about communism. Preach Christ but don't touch on politics or economics, etc. is the cry of the New Evangelicals. So the foundations of Christian civilization are left undefended as the assaults of the forces of anti‑Christ destroy all the fruits of the Protestant Reformation.

This same missionary who refuses to defend the logical conclusions of and applications of Christianity concludes by endorsing every known work and program of anti-Christ. Everything, from "Women's Lib" through the Marxist dictum of "from each according to his ability to each according to his need" meets with Dr. Jones' approval to say nothing of some tears over the "class struggle," an attack on private property, an appeal for pacifism and a call for a " World Church" and a "World Government" (under the "beast" of course, if you still believe the Revelation!).

Here again, with unfailing consistency, we find the New Evangelicals following in the train of E. Stanley Jones. The editorials of Christianity Today have consistently apologized for these same things and only lack of space prevents from giving a complete documentation of that tragic fact.

However, let it suffice just to give one example as an illustration, which will only represent the tip of the iceberg.

I also went to 12 years of catholic school which gives your claim no more credibility than my own.

And your claim of your church doing fine for 2000 years is also false since you fall short on several interpretations.

A few that I will share that are not the usual ones.

The sabbath was not held on a Sunday. This was your church's doing. This is not a nod to the Jewish Roots Movement, it is as simple as- no one was ever instructed to change the sabbath to a Sunday.

Jesus was most likely not raised on a Sunday as your church that has been fine for 2000 years has invented.

I will post the following reasons shortly.

About one billion Protestants and another billion Catholics believe that Jesus Christ was crucified and entombed on a Friday afternoon—"Good Friday"—and raised to life again at daybreak on Easter Sunday morning, a day and a half later.Yet when we compare this to what Jesus Himself said about how long He would be entombed, we find a major contradiction. How long did Jesus say He would be in the grave? "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Matthew:12:40).

The scribes and Pharisees were demanding a miraculous sign from Him to prove that He was indeed the long-awaited Messiah. "But He answered and said to them, 'An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah'" (verse 39).
This was the only sign Jesus gave that He was the promised Messiah: "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (emphasis added throughout).

    Traditional timing doesn't add up
The Gospels are clear that Jesus died and His body was hurriedly placed in the tomb late in the afternoon, just before sundown when a Sabbath began (John:19:30-42)

By the traditional " Good Friday–Easter Sunday " timing, from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown is one night and one day. Saturday night to Sunday daybreak is another night, giving us two nights and one day.
So where do we get another night and two days to equal the three days and three nights Jesus said He would be in the tomb?
This is definitely a problem. Most theologians and religious scholars try to work around it by arguing that any part of a day or night counts as a day or night. Thus, they say, the final few minutes of that Friday afternoon were the first day, all day Saturday was the second day, and the first few minutes of Sunday morning were the third day.

    Sounds reasonable, doesn't it?

The trouble is, it doesn't work. This only adds up to three days and two nights, not three days and three nights.

Also, John:20:1 tells us that "on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb."

Did you catch the problem here? John tells us it was still dark when Mary went to the tomb on Sunday morning and found it empty. Jesus was already resurrected well before daybreak. Thus He wasn't in the tomb any of the daylight portion of Sunday, so none of that can be counted as a day.
That leaves us with, at most, part of a day on Friday, all of Friday night, a whole daylight portion on Saturday, and most of Saturday night. That totals one full day and part of another, and one full night and most of another—still at least a full day and a full night short of the time Jesus said He would be in the tomb.

Clearly something doesn't add up. Either Jesus misspoke about the length of time He would be in the tomb, or the "Good Friday–Easter Sunday" timing is not biblical or accurate.

Obviously both cannot be true. So which one is right?

Understanding God's time is the key
The key to understanding the timing of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection lies in understanding God's timetable for counting when days begin and end, as well as the timing of His biblical festivals during the spring of the year when these events took place.

We first need to realize that God doesn't begin and end days at midnight as we do—that is a humanly devised method of counting time. Genesis:1:5 tells us quite plainly that God counts a day beginning with the evening (the night portion) and ending at the next evening—"So the evening [nighttime] and the morning [daylight] were the first day." God repeats this formula for the entire six days of creation.

In Leviticus 23, where God lists all of His holy Sabbaths and festivals, He makes it clear that they are to be observed "from evening to evening" (verse 32)—in other words, from sunset to sunset, when the sun went down and evening began.

This is why Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, followers of Jesus, hurriedly placed His body in Joseph's nearby tomb just before sundown (John:19:39-42). A Sabbath was beginning at sundown (verse 31), when work would have to cease.

Two kinds of "Sabbaths" lead to confusion
As John tells us in verse 31: "Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies [of those crucified] should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken [to hasten death], and that they might be taken away."

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anonymous10:32 PM

You have to go sunset to sunset by Jewish time. According to the Levitical order of things lambs for sacrifice were examined for 5 days before slaughter so when Jesus rode in to Jerusalem on a donkey colt He was presenting Himself in just that way. It was a double sabbath that year. He was arrested Wednesday night and crucified on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and taken down before the special sabbath began that evening and then rose from the grave on Sunday morning. If you try to make it work in our Gregorian calendar and do not see it from the Jewish understanding it never adds up.

In the Jewish culture of that time, the chores of cooking and housecleaning were done on the day before a Sabbath to avoid working on God's designated day of rest. Thus the day before the Sabbath was commonly called "the preparation day." Clearly the day on which Christ was crucified and His body placed in the tomb was the day immediately preceding a Sabbath.

    The question is, which Sabbath?
Most people assume John is speaking of the regular weekly Sabbath day, observed from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. From John's clear statement here, most people assume Jesus died and was buried on a Friday—thus the traditional belief that Jesus was crucified and died on "Good Friday."
Most people have no idea that the Bible talks about two kinds of Sabbath days—the normal weekly Sabbath day that falls on the seventh day of the week (not to be confused with Sunday, which is the first day of the week), and seven annual Sabbath days, listed in Leviticus 23 and mentioned in various passages throughout the Bible,

that could fall on any day of the week.
Because traditional Christianity long ago abandoned these biblical annual Sabbath days (as well as the weekly Sabbath), for many centuries people have failed to recognize what the Gospels plainly tell us about when Jesus Christ was crucified and resurrected—and why "Good Friday–Easter Sunday" never happened that way.
Most people fail to note that John explicitly tells us that the Sabbath that began at sundown immediately after Jesus was entombed was one of these annual Sabbath days. Notice in John:19:31 his explanation that "that Sabbath was "a high day" being a term used to differentiate the seven annual Sabbaths from the regular weekly Sabbath days.

So what was this "high day" that immediately followed Jesus Christ's hurried entombment?
The Gospels tell us that on the evening before Jesus was condemned and crucified, He kept the Passover with His disciples (Matthew:26:19-20)
    Mark:14:16-17) Luke:22:13-15)

This means He was crucified on the Passover day.

Leviticus 23, which lists God's festivals, tells us that on the day after the Passover a separate festival, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, begins (verses 5-6). The first day of this Feast is "a holy convocation" on which "no customary work" is to be done (verse 7).

This day is the first of God's annual Sabbaths. This is the "high day" of which John wrote.

Several Bible commentaries, encyclopedias and dictionaries note that John is referring to an annual Sabbath here rather than the regular weekly Sabbath day.

Passover began at sundown and ended the following day at sundown, when this annual Sabbath began. Jesus kept the Passover with His disciples, then was arrested later that night. After daybreak the next day He was questioned before Pontius Pilate, crucified, then hurriedly entombed just before the next sunset when the "high day," the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, began.

Leviticus 23 tells us the order and timing of these days, and the Gospels confirm the order of events as they unfolded.
Jesus crucified on Wednesday, not Friday
Several computer software programs exist that enable us to calculate when the Passover and God's other festivals fall in any given year. Those programs show that in A.D. 31, the year of these events, the Passover meal was eaten on Tuesday night and Wednesday sundown marked the beginning of the "high day," the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
Jesus, then, was crucified and entombed on a Wednesday afternoon, not on Friday.

Can we find further proof of this in the Gospels? Yes, indeed we can!
Let's turn to a seldom-noticed detail in Mark:16:1:"Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him."
In that time, if the body of a loved one was placed in a tomb rather than being buried directly in the ground, friends and family would commonly place aromatic spices in the tomb alongside the body to reduce the smell as the remains decayed.
Since Jesus' body was placed in the tomb just before that high-day Sabbath began, the women had no time to buy those spices before the Sabbath. Also, they could not have purchased them on the Sabbath day, as shops were closed. Thus, Mark says, they bought the spices after the Sabbath— "when the Sabbath was past."
But notice another revealing detail in Luke:23:55-56

: "And the women who had come with [Christ] from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment."
Do you see a problem here? Mark clearly states that the women bought the spices after the Sabbath—"when the Sabbath was past." Luke tells us that the women prepared the spices and fragrant oils, after which "they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment."
So they bought the spices after the Sabbath, and then they prepared the spices before resting on the Sabbath. This is a clear contradiction between these two Gospel accounts—unless two Sabbaths were involved!

Indeed when we understand that two different Sabbaths are mentioned, the problem goes away.

Mark tells us that after the "high day" Sabbath, which began Wednesday evening at sundown and ended Thursday evening at sundown, the women bought the spices to anoint Jesus' body. Luke then tells us that the women prepared the spices—activity which would have taken place on Friday—and that afterward "they rested on the Sabbath [the normal weekly Sabbath day, observed Friday sunset to Saturday sunset] according to the commandment."

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous10:51 PM

By comparing details in both accounts, we can clearly see that two different Sabbaths are mentioned along with a workday in between. The first Sabbath was a "high day"—the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which fell on a Thursday. The second was the weekly seventh-day Sabbath.

The original Greek in which the Gospels were written also plainly tells us that two Sabbath days were involved in these accounts. In Matthew:28:1, where Matthew writes that the women went to the tomb "after the Sabbath," the word Sabbath here is actually plural and should be translated "Sabbaths." Bible versions such as Alfred Marshall's Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, Green's Literal Translation Young's Literal Translation and Ferrar Fenton's Translation make this clear.

    When was Jesus resurrected?
We have seen, then, that Jesus Christ was crucified and entombed on a Wednesday, just before an annual Sabbath began—not the weekly Sabbath. So when was He resurrected?

John:20:1, as noted earlier, tells us that "on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb." The sun had not yet risen— "it was still dark," John tells us—when Mary found the tomb empty.
Obviously, then, Jesus was not resurrected at sunrise on Sunday morning. So when did this take place? The answer is plain if we simply read the Gospels—and Jesus Christ's own words—and accept them for what they say.

"For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth," said Jesus (Matthew:12:40).

As we have proven, Jesus was entombed —placed "in the heart of the earth"—just before sundown on a Wednesday. All we have to do is count forward. One day and one night brings us to Thursday at sundown. Another day and night brings us to Friday at sundown. A third day and night brings us to Saturday at sundown.

According to Jesus Christ's own words He would have been resurrected three days and nights after He was entombed, at around the same time—near sunset. Does this fit with the Scriptures? Yes—as we have seen, He was already risen and the tomb empty when Mary arrived "while it was still dark" on Sunday morning.
While no one was around to witness His resurrection (which took place inside a sealed tomb watched over by armed guards), Jesus Christ's own words and the details recorded in the Gospels show that it had to have happened three days and three nights after His burial, near sunset at the end of the weekly Sabbath.

Try as you might, it is impossible to fit three days and three nights between a late Friday burial and a Sunday morning resurrection. The Good Friday–Easter Sunday tradition simply isn't true or biblical. But when we look at all the details recorded in the Gospels and compare them with Jesus' own words, we can see the truth—and it matches perfectly.

The words of the angel of God, who so startled the women at the empty tomb, are proven true: "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said" (Matthew:28:5-6

Let's not cling to religious traditions and ideas that aren't supported by Scripture. Be sure that your own beliefs and practices are firmly rooted in the Bible. Are you willing to make a commitment to worship God according to biblical truth rather than human tradition?

The red moons on biblical feast days are signs.
This is the 4th time we've had these patterns of 4 in a row on biblical feast days in 1000 years.

Whenever they occurred in the past, there were major events which touched the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. The Spanish Inquisition,
the formation of the modern State of Israel and the 6 day war. Make no mistake about it, Israel is God's timepiece for prophetic events. Jesus said the armies would surround Jerusalem and it will be a cup that causes reeling. This feast of Tabernacles the blood moon will appear enormous in Jerusalem because of its elliptical orbit. Watch and see what happens with Israel this year and pray for the Jewish people.

The sun will turn black at the end of the Shemitah cycle which ushers in the Feast of Trumpets, and then the moon will turn red a couple of weeks later. This could usher in financial collapse. It has in the past when people were ignoring God. It's the cancellation of debt. 2008 and 2001 were shemitah years. Read Jonathan Cahn.

You don't have to watch these signs, but God put them there to be watched. Feast of Trumpets is the feast where no one knows the day or the hour because you are required to look for the new moon. This requires watching because in ancient times this is how it was spotted and then announced by two witnesses who blew the ram's horn.

There are two witnesses in the book of Revelations. There are 7 trumpet judgements.
The last trumpet will usher in Jesus' return.

God gives his children, very specific signs which he informed us about in the book of Genesis.1:14 -16 The blood moons and lunar eclipses this last 2 years are very, very significant, not because I say so but because the Bible does.

Most Christians have lost track of the calendar but God hasn't. The Jewish people are the ones who have maintained it for all of these centuries. Christians think because they believe in Jesus that their feasts are accurate but the none of the Christian holidays are based exactly on the Bible, only roughly. and only some of them. They are based on man-made dates, not the ones God gave us which are tied to the sun and moon and the harvest cycles. Jesus spoke all the time about harvest because in the agricultural society of his day, those metaphors were meaningful and they corresponded with the calendar that God made. Example, the first month of the year is Aviv in the Bible which is Spring. God starts the year with the Spring harvest and the first feast after the Sabbath is Passover which is freedom from slavery. That's what Jesus died for, to set us free from slavery to sin. Passover is tied to the barley harvest because Jesus is the "first fruit" of the resurrection. From the waving of the barley you count off 7 weeks and there is what Christians refer to as Pentecost, but they don't celebrate it exactly on the right date because they've lost track of these days and the prophetic nature of God's 2 luminaries, the sun and the moon.

God is very accurate even if we aren't.

Leaven, (yeast), is a symbol of teachings, which start as just a small idea by a man, but can spread within and throughout the lump, (group of people), which is why Jesus told his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which was a packet of lies.
And, when he arose he was our Firstfruits of a new creation. He had the kind of body that we will someday have; incorruptible.
After that, he was with the disciples for forty days, when he was taken back up to heaven, after he had told them to wait for the Comforter, which they did for another ten days, fulfilling the fifty days of Pentecost.
So Jesus is our Pentecost as well.
    ________________

Just for the record, I don't think that the tradition is correct either. The Last Supper took place on the Day of Preparation, which was before the Passover.(John 13:1) We know from Jesus himself that the sign of Jonah meant that he would be "in the earth"
( the belly of the fish ) for three days and three nights.
    Thus:
He was tried by Pilate (and the crowd), early Wednesday, and crucified on Wednesday at 9am.
He hung on the cross till 3pm and they took him down and placed him in the tomb before sundown
which was the start of (our)Thursday. All day Thursday, (sundown to sundown), all day Friday, and all day Saturday he was in the earth. He could have arisen any time after sundown on (our) Saturday, which was the beginning of (our) Sunday.
That's three full days and nights.
No one saw his actual resurrection. Mary Magdalene was the first one at the empty tomb.
That means that there was a half day in which no one saw him. He had put the Roman sentries into a deep sleep resembling death.
I know this is not the traditional view but traditions are often wrong.
See: Douglas Krieger "Signs in the Heavens and On Earth", for an in-depth study on the Passion Week and a detailed timeline that is the best explanation I've ever read, for what that's worth.
Mr Krieger maintains that the entire Passion Week, from his entry on the donkey into Jerusalem, to his resurrection, is a perfect foreshadowing of the 70th week of Daniel, which is the seven year Tribulation period. It's awesome how perfect Gods
timeline is in every sense; prophetically showing us his plans for us and his complete control of everything.
It seems to me that we insist on "following the traditions of men and not the commandments of God."

Then, in your 11:03 AM post, you stated to another Anonymous poster @ 10:45 AM: "Unfortunately, the other anon complaining obviously failed to realize by the opening statement that it is NOT just a Catholic thing. Well, except for a detail here and there, those who have posted to explain the timeline for Jesus riding in on the donkey on Palm Sunday and the events that follow truly do show us that it is not Friday as the day Jesus died. It follows the Jewish customs and not our somewhat skewed traditions. Thank you for that. Yes, the Bible backs itself up beautifully. We only know in part now, but one day we will all know the exacts that are not quite clear to finite minds at this moment of life.

So the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the entire world. That was redemption that He bought and paid for in Blood. God the Father was granted Justice and we, Mercy, through Jesus Christ the Son whose Sacrifice pleased God and was raised from the dead by the Spirit of the Living God as proof!!! And by His Spirit, imparting repentance and faith to believe in HIM we are saved. Saved. Think of it. Hallelujah! What a Savior! We the lost, can be found in Christ Alone.

This earthly life is a vapor. But Life in Jesus is forevermore.
Nothing compares to You Lord. Nothing.

My point is that with we humans, living here on earth, a day begins after Midnight.

With God, a day here on earth begins after sunset as explained in Genesis:

"And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." (Genesis 1:5)

to those who are still arguing traditions and doctrines I say, we will, every one of us, be finding out that we have all missed many things the Lord told us, but we just did not see at the time. We are just like His disciples who walked the land of Israel with the Master and we, like them, have argued about who is the greatest too. One denomination says one thing and the other says another! We need to humbly admit that we have not arrived in our understanding. Lord, increase our faith in You and take our eyes off of each other! He alone is to be worshiped and adored above opinions and teachings we hold dear. those are fine as long as we leave off of them to recognize.........

...that Jesus is The Greatest. HE should be our focus and not be swamped in all the details none of us fully grasp yet anyway!!! If we believe Him as Lord and have put our trust in Him to save our souls in that precious Forgiveness He paid for to give us then we are on the path to seeing it all unfold much better and higher than we can possible imagine!

We will all be in for some real surprises when we see Jesus.

I bet Jesus is looking forward to the that day......

    Mark 16: 1-10 (KJV)

1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

  77. To the anon who posted the Crucifixion on Wednesday theory,

You are not the first to state the theory. However, the theory centers on Matthew 12:39-40, taking the “three days and three nights” literally (72 hours), and reading all other passages through this hermeneutic. Yet, there are other passages which illustrate such language meaning at some time the day after tomorrow (see Esther 4:16-5:1, e.g.).

This hermeneutic also induces adherents to see day, as in “on the third day,” to denote only the sunlit hours of a given 24 hour day; but, this does not have to be so. Just as in English, the Greek word for day (ἡμέρα, hemera) can indicate either the sunlit portion of a 24 hour period or the entire 24 hours, including darkness. In the Jewish schema, this would be from sundown to the just before the next sundown.

So, if we understand “three days and three nights” as equivalent to “on the third day,” then Jesus could have been crucified on Friday (which would finish at sundown), was “in the heart of the earth” for 3 days (the latter part of Friday, Saturday – which would be sundown Friday evening to just before sundown on Saturday, plus the pre-sunlight part of Sunday), and resurrected at some point before the women reach the Empty Tomb.

You wrote: Do you see a problem here? Mark clearly states that the women bought the spices after the Sabbath—"when the Sabbath was past." Luke tells us that the women prepared the spices and fragrant oils, after which "they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment."
So they bought the spices after the Sabbath, and then they prepared the spices before resting on the Sabbath. This is a clear contradiction between these two Gospel accounts—unless two Sabbaths were involved!

Mark 16:1 can be easily read such that the women purchased the spices Saturday sometime after sundown, after the Sabbath. The Luke passage, though seemingly contradictory initially, can be harmonized with Mark:

56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment (Luke 23:56; NIV).

Luke omits the purchasing of the spices entirely. Yet the above can be understood as the women preparing the spices just after the Sabbath (omitting the fact that they also bought them after the Sabbath), with the last sentence a qualifier that they didn’t do any preparation of the anointing on the Sabbath.

The Crucifixion-on-Wednesday view is fatally flawed by taking Luke 24:13, 21 into account. The two travelers on the walk to Emmaus, walking the same day as the discovery of the Empty Tomb (v 13), state that this is “the third day since all this took place” (v 21). Yet, with the Wednesday Crucifixion stance, Sunday would be the 4th day.

See here for a complete analysis.

Originally the Sabbath was celebrated on a Saturday, but it was changed to Sunday because Sunday was the day of the Resurrection and celebrating the Sabbath on a Sunday distinguished Christians from the Jews.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church....

    IN BRIEF
2189 "Observe the sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Deut 5:12). "The seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord" (Ex 31:15).
2190 The sabbath, which represented the completion of the first creation, has been replaced by Sunday which recalls the new creation inaugurated by the Resurrection of Christ.
2191 The Church celebrates the day of Christ's Resurrection on the "eighth day," Sunday, which is rightly called the Lord's Day (cf. SC 106).
2192 "Sunday . . . is to be observed as the foremost holy day of obligation in the universal Church" (CIC, can. 1246 § 1). "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass" (CIC, can. 1247).
2193 "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound . . . to abstain from those labors and business concerns which impede the worship to be rendered to God, the joy which is proper to the Lord's Day, or the proper relaxation of mind and body" (CIC, can. 1247).
2194 The institution of Sunday helps all "to be allowed sufficient rest and leisure to cultivate their amilial, cultural, social, and religious lives" (GS 67 § 3).
2195 Every Christian should avoid making unnecessary demands on others that would hinder them from observing the Lord's Day.

THE BIBLE IS CLEAR THAT JESUS ROSE ON SUNDAY

Let's review the events leading to the crucifixion:

•Jesus arrived at Bethany six (6) days prior to Passover (Jn 12:1), hence Saturday. His triumphant entry into Jerusalem was the next day, Sunday (Jn 12:12).

•They could not crucify him on the Sabbath . So they woke everybody up and did it all Thursday night to Friday morning, to make a Friday crucifixion before the Sabbath began Friday night.

•John 19:14 says "It was the day of Preparation for the Passover ..." and John 19:31 says "Since it was the day of the Preparation, the Jews did not want the bodies left on the cross during the Sabbath. These two passages make it clear that the Passover and the Sabbath were on the same day. We know that the Sabbath of Jewish people ALWAYS falls from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. The dawning of the first day of the week was therefore on Sunday.

    Anon 10:57

Maybe it was already stated here, but there are 2 kinds of sabbaths in the Bible, the regular weekly sabbath i.e. Friday night sundown to Saturday night sundown. Within the feast of Passover which really has 2 feasts within there is the Sabbath after the lamb is slain, which doesn't have to be on Saturday. It's the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened bread. The command was to eat unleavened bread for 7 days but on the last day of the feast it is another sabbath. In addition to that if Passover doesn't fall on a Friday night ( like this year) there is also the weekly sabbath within the feast.

The women found him because they went to the tomb after the sabbath, but remember sabbath is over at night, so the fact that went out when the sun was rising doesn't mean that he wasn't risen prior. Technically speaking Jesus could have risen Saturday night ( this particular sabbath was before the 1st day of the week thus Saturday) .

In those days, different groups of Jews celebrated different calendars, further confusing the issue. The Essenes did not celebrate Passover on the same day as the Pharisees. Some believe that Jesus ate Passover with his disciples on the Essenes Passover and was crucified on the Pharisees.

In those days there were many arguments about how the Torah was observed by different sects of Judaism. In fact, in the begin after Jesus rose his disciples and followers were considered just another sect of Judaism. Later on there was a schism and more and more Gentiles influenced what happened as they began to outnumber Jews.

We can't know for sure if this is true, but it's one theory. The other theory is that Jesus did a practice Passover which was the tradition of the rabbis in his day. We don't know if meal he ate was really a seder, but from John's gospel we know he was crucified before the Passover of the Pharisees.
He did say that he earnestly desired to eat the Passover with his disciples, but the question is did he? We don't know. We don't have to be dogmatic about this. We all know that Jesus is the Passover Lamb who shed his blood for sin,
and he was sinless and rose to give us the same opportunity, to overcome sin and death through his sacrifice.

    Dear Anonymous @ 1:45 AM:

Thank you for sharing your very VALID information... and in a calm, mature manner.

We Catholics are not trying to be 'dogmatic' about this. A particularly obnoxious poster made it his or her mission to 'go after' a Catholic poster on this blog in one angry rant after another on Friday and Saturday... very rudely DEMANDING answers about what we Catholics believe regarding Jesus being crucified on a Friday and risen on a Sunday. He or she INSISTED that Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday; therefore, Jesus couldn't have risen on a Sunday (when we Catholics never brought this issue up in the first place!). That particular poster was actually arguing with himself or herself... and angrily declaring 'absolutes' (rather than theories)... even though he or she admitted that both traditional Catholics AND Protestants believe that Jesus was crucified on a Friday and rose from the dead on a Sunday.

Even when one of the Catholics told him or her: "The day of the week that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose from the dead doesn't matter. ALL that does matter is that he was crucified and died for the sins of all mankind... period!!!"... he or she kept on ranting.

No answer satisfied that poster, who (over a two day period) called the Catholic poster ugly names like: stupid, foolish, phony, fraud and liar.

This behavior would be UNACCEPTABLE on this blog if we Catholics ever made it our mission to go after Protestant Evangelicals... DEMANDING to know what they believe and why.

The main point here is that this particular Catholic poster has friends and supporters here, who wanted to supply the necessary information about what the Catholic Church teaches on that particular subject -- not for the sake of that one rude poster who put the Catholic poster 'on trial' here -- but rather for EVERYONE on this blog... who may genuinely want to know (and are not just engaged in a game of 'gotcha').

The GOOD NEWS is that, no matter what day of the week it occurred back in 33 AD... JESUS CHRIST HAS RISEN. HALLELUJAH!!!

HAVE A HAPPY AND JOYOUS EASTER, EVERYONE!!!

  82. He is Risen!

Hallelujah! He is risen! This is the crux of the Crucifixion. While Christ’s death resulted in the tearing of the veil from top to bottom, thereby fulfilling the Mosaic, Old Testament sacrificial system and providing atonement of sins for all who would accept His sacrifice on the Cross, this was only fully understood by the Triumph of the Empty Tomb, in the exulting exaltation over death, the glorious Resurrection, culminating in Christ’s post-resurrection appearances. The Empty Tomb proved He was Who He said He was – God’s Son, the Christ, the Messiah.

No one with a shred of intellectual honesty can deny the existence of a man named Jesus from Nazareth, born of Mary, who was married to Joseph, a carpenter. The historical veracity of Jesus’ life is unassailable, as accounts of Jesus’ existence are available not just in Scripture and the writings of early professing Christians, but in the contemporaneous writings of non-Christians including Tacitus and Josephus. The question for skeptics of the Christian faith to answer centers on the Empty Tomb: Where is Jesus’ body?

We Christians know the answer: He is Risen! And now He sits at the Father’s right hand.

CITY OF JERUSALEM ON EDGE AS EXECUTED MAN’S BODY GOES MISSING DESPITE BEST EFFORTS OF ARMED GUARDS
Three days after the execution of three men outside Jerusalem on Passover, one of them has disappeared from his burial place. Due to fears this man's followers would steal his body and claim he was not dead; guards were placed outside his tomb to prevent them from carrying out their plan to get more people to join their sect, according to the local Pharisees and Sadducees. However, today the third day of his death, it was reported that despite Rome's best efforts, There was a violent earthquake, and an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The two women named Mary was said to have gone to the tomb in the morning hours only to find it empty except for the angel who said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
This investigation will continue to see what happens next but as far as this reporter can ascertain at this present time it is clear, Jesus has risen, HE IS ALIVE.

  84. This is off topic, but, has anyone heard an explanation for why it is that ten years ago
virtually no one knew what Celiac Disease is or what gluten is?
Now there are entire departments of gluten-free products in most supermarkets. What happened?
Most dietitians will tell you now that even if you don't have celiac disease per se, you should definitely avoid gluten. They say we avoid whole wheat even more so. Fiber rich whole wheat?
Avoid wheat? Isn't wheat the most popular staple of all time?
The only explanation that I can find is one that says that wheat has been hybridized a few too many times, and that it now contains some nasties that no one should be eating, all under Monsanto's watchful monopoly.
Whole wheat bread, bagels, cereals, pasta of all types, beer, crackers, cookies, and a long list of other everyday foods are all now, suddenly considered dangerous.
My question is this; at what point does Monsanto become responsible for the seeds that they worked so hard to own patents for, and the laws that Monsanto worked so long and tirelessly to
put on the books that requires farmers to only use their Monsanto seeds or face huge, crippling fines?
Is there a gigantic class action lawsuit in the future for them?
I hope so. A very good friend of mine died from this disease. He wasted away to a walking skeleton
    before he died.
Imagine the level of avarice and hubris that would compel a corporation to say that they own the rights to something like WHEAT!

Roundup Herbicide Linked To Celiac Disease And Gluten Intolerance

A new study has found that the world's best-selling herbicide is linked to the global rise of celiac disease, gluten intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome.

According to the U.S. peer-reviewed study, the details of which were published by Dr. Anthony Samsel and Dr. Stephanie Seneff, the rise in disease has coincided with the increased use of glyphosate (Roundup) herbicide.

The paper has been published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Toxicology.

The researchers say that, based on their findings, one in 20 people in North America and Western Europe now suffer from celiac disease, which is essentially gluten intolerance.

"Gluten intolerance is a growing epidemic in the U.S. and, increasingly, worldwide," said the researchers in their paper.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit...."

exactly how does this picture of violent world conquest, against CONTEMPORANEOUS KINGDOMS, not like the statue dream which are sequential, fit the EU and Solana etc. picture?

    Daniel 7:11,12

"I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn

As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away:
yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time."

CONTEMPORANEOUS to the fourth beast, conquered by it, and they survive its
extinction both that of the antichrist and of the empire that he

This is not a rehash of the statue dream, THIS IS DIFFERENT. The ten

  92. We are talking about the enemy attacking all believers, and too many comments are refighting the wars of religion over trivial things. When I was a missionary in Africa, when the communist "insurgents" attacked a mission, they didn't care if it was run by Blacks or whites, or if the church was "Roman" or "English" or "Dutch", they hated all of us...and missions of all these faiths were attacked.

The war against marriage is being pushed by the US Gov't...not only in the US but in Africa and Asia, using your tax money. IT is pushing contraception, abortion, gay rights, and now gay marriage, but the agenda is actually population control and a eugenic destruction of people who are useless for their new world order.

The churches, especially the Catholic and Biblically sound Anglican churches are their main enemy.

I remember when abortion opposition was silent among most Protestants because they were convinced it was a "Catholic" issue. Now that the enemy has infiltrated the Vatican and many American bishops (but not all, thank the Lord) you evangelicals are on the front line.

Some warn that if Christians fight back the end result would be a civil war...

could I suggest that Christians not just pray but use peaceful demonstrations? The prolife ones in the US are huge, with thousand participating, but not publicized. But here in the Philippines, when the "experts" predicted we had to chose either Marcos' tyranny or communism, it was Christians who managed a third way: Even Marcos couldn't stand up to 1 million Pinoys praying on the main street in Manila to support Tita Cory.

So will a million Christians come out to pray and sing hymns? I don't think so: Too many blacks won't join white Christians who are painted as racist in the press, and too many Hispanics won't join because their self appointed "leaders" are rabid leftists. And the Catholics? Well, the gays pretty well destroyed our leadership by infiltrating the seminaries, but we have a few bishops who are out there: too bad few in the press bother to quote them. I am thinking of Archbishop Chaput's statements on this.LINK

The primary function of the mainstream media is not to inform you, but to distract you from what's really happening. When it comes down to it, nobody really cares whether a tiny pizza joint in Indiana wants to cater a gay wedding with pizzas. (Who caters their wedding with pizza, anyway?) The far greater issue happening today is how we are all being enslaved, oppressed and exploited no matter what our sexual orientation, religious background, race or country of origin.

The leftist media tries to drive a wedge between the people of America by staging contrived culture wars. The more people get caught up in these culture wars, the more they totally forget the real war on humanity being waged...

So does conservative media. They do their part in stirring up the pot. They do it with cult-like fervor. Fox News is a cult. The Huffington Post is a cult. It doesn't matter where the news is coming from, we should all be more critical thinkers instead of waiting to be spoon-fed. Pope Francis on Monday again pressed the international community to do something about the killing of Christians in several parts of the world and not "look the other way."

He has been increasingly vocal about the fate of Christians being targeted by Islamic extremists in parts of the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Addressing pilgrims and tourists in St. Peter's Square, Francis praised those who were "sensitizing public opinion about the persecution of Christians in the world."

While not suggesting any particular course of action, he urged "concrete participation and tangible help in defense and protection of our brothers and our sisters, who are persecuted, exiled, slain, beheaded, solely for being Christian."

The pope was building on his Good Friday denunciation of what he then called "complicit silence" about the targeting of Christians.

"They are our martyrs of today, and they are many. We can say that they are more numerous than in the first centuries," Francis said.

"I hope that the international community doesn't stand mute and inert before such unacceptable crimes, which constitute a worrisome erosion of the most elementary human rights. I truly hope that the international community doesn't look the other way," the pontiff said.

I don't like Alex Constantine's preferences of good and evil, but the

One of the biggest arguments given by Christians in the early days against
male unchastity was that you would never know if you were screwing your
own half sister if everyone was sleeping around not to mention formal
prostitution, this going on for generations.

I strongly suspect that the discrete unchastity that went on in our supposedly
pure past and the open unchastity now, with population mobility and conventions incl. masonic both of which have a reputation for this,

has resulted in unknown inbreeding from unknown incest

and contributed to the rise in genetic disorders.

I have stated that you could use archaeology and ancient history and
Strong's Concordance and other word help. It is the interpretations given
that lead wrong, starting with Scofield and Darby and there are others.

Actually, no, starting probably with Luther (some preceders) who "spiritualized"
Revelation and other things to fit their convenience or circumstance
instead of looking at it literally when it is obviously literal and
convert it into political symbols relevant to their day and interests.

more likely in a post industrial back to more primitive time in the future.

Revelation specifies Gog will be among those rebelling against Jesus'
rule on earth, kind of a replay of David's rule which saw a revolt, but
David was never overthrown and continued to be king after that. This
would place the Gog Magog war at least 1,000 years in the future.

This self contradictory sentence is made clearer when it's followed by:
"hint: lavey said that basically what he gave people was Ayn Rand plus fancy rituals"
You're an expert on satanic things, but, to be fair, you're an expert on anything and everything.
    Then there's:
    (blah blah blah... "our supposedly
    pure past" blah blah blah
    Our what?
    Then we have this gem:
"Actually, no, starting probably with Luther (some preceders) who 'spiritualized'
Revelation and other things to fit their convenience or circumstance instead of looking at it literally when it is obviously literal"
It's obviously largely NOT literal, disinfowolf, unless you think that Jesus has a literal sword coming out of his mouth. Verse 20 shows us clearly that the seven stars and the seven golden candlesticks are symbolic language, "disinfowulf".
Are you going to offer Jesus some money, so that he will sell you some literal gold tried in the fire?
Is Jesus literally standing outside a literal door knocking on it? What door? Where?
You really are so full of yourself that you have no idea that many many other people are perfectly capable of seeing what's literal and what isn't. In fact you assume that everyone outside your skull is an idiot, which only shows us how insensitive you are, and how out of touch with everyone you are.
Your intelligence does not mean that no one else is intelligent, disinfowulf. Your condescending attitude, hubris, has blinded you, figuratively speaking.
So in chapter 10 do you think that John literally eats a little book and that it's sweet in his mouth?
In chapter 12 is it a literal woman who is literally clothed with the sun?
I could go on and on.
Revelations is OBVIOUSLY a book of visions. Like a dream the symbolic language is so much more effective because it's condensed and multilayered and works through generations regardless of the times. Like poetry it requires more that a speed reading. It requires chewing on and digesting,( not literally but figuratively), disinfowulf. It requires our participation.
My IQ is about 130. Idiots, morons and imbeciles live in the sub 100 range, God bless them.
If I'm an idiot as you say, I'm an idiot who sees right through you.
I do understand though that one of the characteristics of Aspergers is a lack of empathy,
so you get a pass as you always have. But Aspergers Syndrome doesn't give you a license to lie like a bearskin rug.
    Here's literally true story:
A friend of mine hired an Aspergers person to work in his store, which he did until my friend realized that he was stealing out of the till on a regular basis. My friend is a Christian and he forgave the man and let him keep working there, after the guy apologized. A week later, it became obvious that he was still stealing. Aspergers' Syndrome has many symptoms, apparently.
    Try working for a living.

    ReplyDelete
  114. paul,

if my sentence is self contradictory, then all your studying of the new age
    is as its disciple.

don't give me this fancy shmancy talk about literalism. Jesus with a flaming
sword out of His mouth and knocking on doors is obviously symbolic.

there is no reason to interpret very specific statements about disaster
and attacks by paranormal monsters as merely "symbolic"

The four horsemen are symbolic but what they produce is not. and if they
are spirits that lead these developments, then they are pretty literal.

The interpretation of the white horseman as either antichrist or Jesus Christ is silly. noting he lacks arrows to the bow is also silly.
when you have a bow, you can ASSUME the arrows are present in a container
on the waist or over the shoulder as would be (and still is) usual. Only
if this character were described in the additionals words that "yet he
had no arrows" (which he is not) can you make conclusions on this.
This more reasonably depicts an overview of history that was future
to John. The white horseman with the
bow is probably the arab and
turkish conquerors. These people often had light colored horses,
incl. the perlino and cremello who can pass at a distance as white.
Roman cavalry if I recall right, tended to prefer dark colored horses.
The PErsian wars rarely came into the Holy Land itself or into Anatolia.
Bear in mind, Israel in particular and the Middle East in general is the center of Biblical prophecy.

To spiritualize stars falling from heaven as political events or the rise
of your favorite preacher as some have is also silly. hyper literalism
would of course also be silly. Stars don't fall to the ground. But if there
is an axis tilt or a crustal displacement, then the stars would
appear to fall moving fast in the opposite direction of the earth
surface motion, and the heavens rolling up like a scroll sounds like
the view of dense smoke rolling across the sky (several supervolcano eruptions? at once?)

Hey whatever gets you your prescription for a mood elevator.
I don't study the New Age and I'm not "fighting the New Age", as you and D.M. like to say.
It's real, but its 'll just idolatry exactly as the Bible describes it, in it's latest wrapping, as I see it. It's not new and it's not worth digging deep into. I agree with the idea of exposing it and shining the light of the Gospel on it, but that's about all any of us can do.
Why, do you think that you're fighting it? Really?
I seriously doubt that you have an IQ of 140. Maybe in some categories, but I'll bet you couldn't do a quadratic equation to save your life, and the IQ scale was a comprehensive average of

  119. okay, I don't tell lies here. I have gone an entire 5 years once without telling a deliberate lie. Which of course means I have and even recently
in personal face to face communications taken the easy way out
avoiding arguments. I am cracking down on myself regarding this.

my IQ tests that show high are the ones that don't involve much math, I have a
math block. and considering that high math skills are a typical male score,
and low for female EXCEPT THAT BOYS RAISED OVERPROTECTED HAVE LOW MATH
and tomboys high math, this has to do with spatial skill sets. And I was
way more overprotected than the typical female.

I can do some algebra counting on my fingers for each part of the fourway
split design of the typical formula, it takes too long, and I start
forgetting parts probably because it is irritating. It is also useless in
most normal life. But you show me something normally handled by math,
and I can get a pretty good idea of what it is and where its headed if
    you leave the math out.

And none of this is important to understanding the Bible. All you need
is ability to read. And a decent translation.

If you aren't here to learn about the new age to fight it or avoid it, what are you doing here? isn't that the purpose of this blog?

Whether the four empires of Daniel 7 are here yet any of them, or not,
then in the former case, the bear only lacks one more rib, a thing in
its mouth that is viewed by outsiders as a victim but it is THE RIBS that
tell it to attack. Someone pointed out that grammatically, the bear is
being raised up into a whack with paw attack mode, by an outside force.
Indeed, Russia is being pushed. South Ossetia joined Russia and so did
Crimea. Putin has twice refused to accept Ukrainian cities into Russia,
my guess is he won't until the entire eastern section of Ukraine is a
coherent independent recognizable state, and then they will request to
be accepted and they will be accepted.

That will be the third rib. So when you see this happen, prepare to
survive WW 3, because a regional war could easily go intercontinental.

OF course, Daniel 7 may be entirely in the future, after USA, Russia and
China are in the past. or may be successor states of these. But the
situation NOW is compatible with a WW 3
scenario anyway, because once east Ukraine as I call it joins Russia,
west Ukraine will scream bloody murder and east Ukraine will probably
    demand Russia annex Kiev for
historic and security reasons and its game on.

"And none of this is important to understanding the Bible. All you need
is ability to read. And a decent translation."

Not so. The Bible itself says why.

1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Christine you have admitted that you are studied in the world--in the spirit of the world and according to man's wisdom. Your high IQ (whatever) is your way to understand but the Bible says that is not how it is known. Your intellect and Bible analysis take on it is exactly where your problem lies with it.
To be truly understood the Word of God is spiritually discerned. There is your lack spelled out for you. You need the Lord, big time.

  132. going through old posts here I stumbled on this from Craig

"Most hyper-charismatics are postmillennial, and hence, not pre-trib. "

no. postmillennialism is a little too complicated for that. It is like
amillennialism on steroid, though the latter, while it assumes the millennium
is Christ ruling through the Church on earth, and 1,000 years
is only figurative for a long time, it is compatible with a tribulation
situation blowing up that Christ comes back to stop and then do
the Last Judgement right then. By this theory the devil is bound now,
how they explain the need for exorcism and for believers to be
wary of deception I don't understand.

post mil figures that the Church takes over the world, rules for a thousand
years, and hands the kingdom over to Jesus when He comes back. I suppose
the Joel's Army thing would be a response to the antichrist or whatever
or whoever they think he is.

Some theorist I ran into, his affiliation unknown, argues that
the tribulation is what has been going on all along in all persecutions
of Christians from the time of Acts to now.

timing of the tribulation, rapture, and millennium, and even definition
of some of these, is not reliably tied to each other. This I know
from years of reading what others wrote on all this.

And an individual can belong to a denomination or whatever that officially
holds one position, and themselves hold to a different idea.

  133. Christine,

RE: your post @ 10:08 above: Let’s define terms.

Postmillennialism, in its simplest terms, is the belief that Christ returns after the millennium, whether understood as a literal or figurative 1000 years. In other words, the Second Coming of Christ follows the millennium, after which is the final Judgment.

Pre-trib, short for pre-tribulation rapture, is the belief that Christians will be “raptured” before the Tribulation period. That is, Christians will be removed from the earth, first the dead in Christ, immediately followed by those still alive, with the Tribulation following. In other words, those “raptured” will escape the Tribulation period altogether. The “rapture” is in distinction from the Second Coming, with the former understood as a unique event (though some believe there is more than one “rapture”) preceding Christ’s return, with the Tribulation sandwiched between. In short, the chronology is:

    “rapture(s)”, Tribulation, Second Coming

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is associated with premillennialism, meaning Christ returns before the millennium. Hence, combining the pre-tribulation rapture with its associated premillennialism yields the following chronology:

“rapture(s)”, Tribulation, Second Coming, millennial reign of Christ

Having defined our terms, it’s plain to see that a pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is incongruent with postmillennialism. And this is why I wrote:

Most hyper-charismatics are postmillennial, and hence, not pre-trib (bold added for emphasis).

    ReplyDelete
  134. Christine,

In the following portion of your rambling comment above, you express some understanding of postmillennialism, while totally missing the connection between Joel’s Army and New Age doctrine:

post mil figures that the Church takes over the world, rules for a thousand years, and hands the kingdom over to Jesus when He comes back. I suppose the Joel's Army thing would be a response to the antichrist or whatever or whoever they think he is.

Your first sentence is mostly correct (though “thousand years” can be understood by adherents as either literal or figurative) with respect to hyper-charismaticism, or those adhering to the self-described “New Apostolic Reformation.” And, clearly, there’s no room for a pre-trib “rapture” in this schema.

…I suppose the Joel's Army thing would be a response to the antichrist or whatever or whoever they think he is.

Ya think?! That’s the whole point of Joel’s Army, to ‘purge “the church”’ of what they perceive are individuals adhering to antichrist doctrines, in their bid to ‘purify’ “the Church.” This ‘purification’ will continue until there’s “unity,” a unification around their doctrines. Since Christ is defined as simply “anointing” within hyper-charismaticism, antichrist describes those against “the anointing”.

Of course this parallels Barbara Marx Hubbard’s doctrine of end times ‘purification’, with “God-centered” below understood as New Age adherents, and “self-centered” understood as non-New Agers, most especially Bible-believing Christians:

Before this stage of power can be inherited by the God-centered members of the social-body, the self-centered members must be destroyed. There is no alternative. Only the God-centered can evolve…

…We are in charge of God’s selection process for planet Earth. He selects, we destroy. We are the riders of the pale horse, Death.

We come to bring death to those who are unable to know God. We do this for the sake of the world…

The riders of the pale horse are about to pass among you. Grim reapers, they will separate the wheat from the chaff…

Those of you who know what is happening – the one-fourth who are now listening to the higher self – are to be guides for the rest who will be panicked and confused
(The Book of Co-Creation: An Evolutionary Interpretation of the New Testament – Part III, The Revelation: Alternative to Armageddon. 1980, unpublished manuscript, pp 60-61).

For someone who professes such vast knowledge of the New Age Movement, it’s curious you’d miss this connection.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I don't miss the connection, the whole hypercharismaticism thing is New Age
eschatology as http://www.herescope.com shows, I just take it for granted we all
here know the hypercharismaticism-New Age link.

The Word of Faith (and concomitant Prosperity Gospel) tracks back
to E. W. Kenyon, who repackaged Phineas (I think that's the first name) Quimby, Mary Baker Eddy's teacher, in Christian terms.

I wouldn't be surprised if some wrong spirits, either persons or
kind of astral robot field running a program, hitched a ride
on Kenyon and infected all his successors and their followers that were infectable.
Herescope quotes I think Binckley as saying he saw the holy spirit
dancing around happy it could now do more with Christians than before sounds like some demon
that because the people it was working with were farther away from Bible truth and the Jesus of
the Bible they were more malleable.

Eddy repackaged it in Christian terms also, but a bit more out there
than Kenyon. The classic gnostic position of matter is evil spirit is good played a big role. The flaw in such thinking is that one
misses that evil begins in the realm of spirit, not of God of course but the human spirit and
the unseen world. matter is inert, and worked or through.

Eddy eventually had to face the fact that her techniques could be
used for evil as well as good, and labeled it "malicious animal
magnetism" when done so. My grandmother was into Christian Science for some years, and a few
times I typed up her lessons for her. They are like a lectionary with Bible passages and Eddy's
interpretation (or rather misinterpretation) after them. I remember even though I wouldn't
say I was a Christian at that point, I could clearly see there was no relationship between the
two. They were too different for one to be an interpretation of
    the other. No similarity.

I think the entire Pentecostal-charismatic thing is a deception and infected.
Though there were occasional unusual manifestations in some
revivals, these were often dismissed as distractions sent by the devil. The early Pentecostals
and the Assemblies of God were too biblically minded except on the point of talking in tongues to be totally infectable and
usable by the devil. the hypercharismatics have thrown away what anchor the others had and are adrift.

you need to do some spiritual warfare research from Christian pages and books,
you will see that this is not New Age thinking at all. While the
charismatics often overplay the issue, and blame everything on demons and talk about walking around strongholds (to no visible effect later) and oddball stuff, they are drawing on some facts.

spirit influence and contamination can give ideas and stir emotions that seem to
confirm things. especially with people who follow feelings and don't read Scripture in context.
The individual of course is responsible for how they resist or don't, and the more
    influenced and less counter information
    the easier to lead.

this is of course true regarding mere physical stuff like words spoken or printed and
example of others, peer group, etc.

People can also cling to a notion or interpretation they acquired under such influence,
and once the demon and the connection is gone determinedly cling to the idea they got.

if this is how you understand Scripture no wonder you are sloppy.

"The Bible says all men are liars and only God is true, so your "I don't lie" statement is a lie. "

    That isn't what it says.

Romans 3:4 "let God be true and every man a liar," context, Romans 3:3 "For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid, yea, let God be true but every man a liar;"

i.e., let God be counted as true, and all who don't believe Him a liar even if that means the whole world all men disbelieve and reject Christ.

The other similar place is Ps. 116:11 "I said in my haste" some translate this as alarm "All men are liars."

Now, applying this to you, paul,....what have you been lying about lately?

    ReplyDelete
  147. Christine, re: 11:29 AM:

Your comment, especially with your remark “[t]he other similar place is…”, makes it seem as though you’ve carefully scoured the Bible for every reference to lying, as in not telling the truth. But it appears you missed Numbers 23:19:

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? (ESV)

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen? (NET Bible)

look to yourself. I haven't been doing that here. I present a

some of your own sacred cows. Maybe because you have some other reason. Maybe because you can't realize that both major parties

Or something I can't guess at. Obviously you are implying I am manifesting these fallen human
tendencies here. To do any of that one has to be knowingly speaking falsehood or misleading.
If I happen to believe some erroneous information and repeat it, that isn't lying per se. I
don't think that is the case, but it isn't lying in the sense we are talking about.

The statement is also generic, I.e.,. not universally applicable at all times to all individuals,
and while I am not innocent at some times in my life of deceit,
apparently at least one was, or
else had become free of such behavior and thought that leads to it, because Jesus said regarding Nathaniel,

"behold an Israelite indeed in whom is no guile" (my memory of the statement, here are several translations note deceit is the word used in at least one, http://biblehub.com/john/1-47.htm

well what do you know, I remembered it exactly from KJV
    "Behold an Israelite indeed, in

  150. I think everyone should re read Constance's Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow, and A Planned Deception.

while the latter involves Project Bluebeam, which I think is shaky, the idea of trying to fake a
Second Coming of course is part of what Jesus warned against, that some would come claiming to be Him.
Or claiming "I am Christ," which would range from the former to the New Age/charismatic "we are gods, we are Christ" to the New Age idea of some ascended master managing to externalize the hierarchy and claim he is Christ (i.e., solidified demon or a possessed human).

The second book is what gave me the heads up on the Manifest Sons of God, which now runs under many
names usually not that, and includes the hyper
charismatics/New Apostolic Reformation crew and such as might not fit that label but incl. such blasphemous teachings,
as Paul Crouch and Kenneth Copeland.

I am going to dig up the second one and read it now, there is probably something in there I've
forgotten. It does, if I recall right, detail a similarity between the MSOG eschatology and
that of the New Age. This similarity to near identity is
detailed in some articles at herescope.com which site is on Constance's approved links on the right side of this blog's front

I’ll let others be the judge of that. But, I will say that your comment @ 8:12 PM, in light my correction (@ 12:39 AM) to your earlier post on eschatology (@ 10:08 PM), seems to illustrate the very thing you claim you “haven’t been doing” on this blog.

Next, in the same context as the above (1:34 PM), you then wrote:

I suppose an example of that would be your treatise on eschatology @ 10:08 PM in “correction” to one of my earlier statements by your employment of a straw man argument (“postmillennialism is a little too complicated for that”) in this rambling comment?

Even more ironical is your admitting to deceit, in light of your very recent (@ 11:29 AM) counterclaim against paul’s statement about your previous claim that you “don’t lie”:

Regarding Numbers 23:19, you are, of course, free to adhere to “solo” Scriptura if you like. As to John 1:47, this does not mean Jesus is saying that Nathaniel is and has always been free of deceit; most commentators see the illusion to Psalm 32:2:

  153. A Planned Deception starts with Peter Le Mesurier. So I googled him, seems he wrote a book pretending
to refute claims Nostradamus was using magic of any kind or bibliomancy (which LeMesurier
claims to do) to make his "prophecies."

Too many Christian sites reference Nostradamus alongside the Bible by the way. This is not good.

Nostradamus is clearly described by someone who saw him, according to something I read years and years
ago, which cinched my rejection of him, doing a magic ritual and then scrying in a cup of water
Regardless of whether anything is correct or not, it comes from a contaminated source, which, BTW, is not omnipresent, not omnipotent, and not omniscient.

in addition, Nostradamus' "quatrains" have been reworked and added to. Another one for the dustbin.

I also ran across a link to this old post of Constance's and comments

    http://cumbey.blogspot.com/2006/08/armageddon-script-prophecy-in-action.html

Note on Chuck Hegel, whatever his evil inclinations he did one good thing, he put in place new
protocols before he left office, which interfere with potential nuclear plans running on the old protocols.

Recently the Tacoma air wing commander got an order to do a preemptive strike on Russia,
about the same time internet traffic got routed through Ukraine and Brit MoD info fell
into Russian hands, seems UK was getting ready to do a preemptive nuclear strike on Russia. Putin
    disappeared for a while.

This strike was prevented by the base commander refusing the order, which came by the pre
Hegel protocols, and following the present ones, so it didn't get done. (What she would have
done if it followed the new ones I have no idea.) Of course she was
immediately relieved of duty on a pretext, and the statement made she had nothing to do with
handling nukes, which is an obvious damn lie since as base commanders she would have handled
any orders regarding them. The dead hand system, that can retaliate without being told to do
so was apparently offline for a while, but Russia would have reactivated it by now.

  154. Christine,

You shouted: SO WHERE IS THIS ANY KIND OF REBUKE, CORRECTION OR EXPOSE OF WHAT I SAID HERE OR ANYWHERE ELSE?

Since you insist, let me lay it out in numbered sequence for you:

    1) In your response to paul (11:29 AM) your claim was that Bible does not state something to the effect that ‘all men are liars’.
    2) I brought up Numbers 23:19 (12:45 PM) for consideration.
    3) You claimed that Numbers 23:19 “is also generic, I.e.,. not universally applicable at all times to all individuals”, using John 1:47 as an example to ‘prove’ your point.
    4) I illustrated that commentators generally see an illusion to Psalm 32:2 (“Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them in whose spirit is no deceit” – a reference to regeneration) in John 1:47, which, properly understood, clearly does not support your point (in 3 above). I’ll let D.A. Carson explain:

…The encomium achieves extra depth in the light of the explicit reference to the Jacob story in the following verses. Doubtless Esau despised his birthright, but in Isaac’s view that did not make Jacob innocent. Isaac informs Esau, ‘Your brother came deceitfully (LXX “with deceit [dolos]”) and took your blessing’, to which Esau replies, ‘Isn’t he rightly named Jacob (Heb. yaʿᵃqōḇ)? He has deceived me (yaʿᵃqᵉbênî) these two times’ (Gn. 27:35-36). But Jacob came to be called Israel, after receiving a vision of God that transformed his character (Gn. 28:10ff.; Ge 32:24–30). Nathanael, then, was an Israelite without deceit, an ‘Israel’ and not a ‘Jacob’...He was a man worthy of the blessing pronounced in Psalm 32:2: ‘Blessed is the man…in whose spirit is no deceit’… (pp 160-61).

As we can see, this is not saying that some Christians (or non-Christians), e.g. Nathaniel, do not ever lie, as you intimated.

Now, if you are trying to delineate between lying (by commission) and deceit (lying by omission), then I think you are splitting hairs that should not be split. And, I think Numbers 23:19 makes that crystal clear.

    ReplyDelete
  155. you still don't get it, even with Scripture against you that you yourself cite!

the person who said all men are liars reported saying it in his haste, alarm, etc., in other words, that he was wrong. or else that he had meant it as an ongoing absolute true at all times and at all places, and he was wrong.

I am not distinguishing between lying by commission or omission (deceit of a more subtle sort doesn't do either, it just redirects your attention so you miss something or fail to ask the right questions).

now if the issue is am I a liar defined as having ever told a lie of any kind then yes and so are you.
but if the issue is that I lie HERE ON THE BLOG COMMENTS NOW OR AT ANY TIME then I deny it.

That denial does not go against Scripture which is a but nuanced on this issue anyway.

My specific supposed lies of course are not mentioned.

And frankly I think that if there is a blog jammer here, it is you, trying to start longwinded arguments and giving longwinded declarations.

IF YOUR POINT ABOUT REFUTING THE ISSUE OF ALL MEN BEING LIARS DOESN'T MEAN ALL OF THEM ALL THE TIME,

    A Planned Deception p. 23

I have been thinking for some time that the gnostic attitude of hatred for physical existence
which strongly informs the New Age and most forms of occultism, except the pop type interested in physical health and wealth,
have as a major goal the destruction of as much life as possible.

while this is an obvious side effect or collateral damage of creating chaos so they can bring
their kind of order out of it, this may in fact be the real purpose.
Two things come to mind: A while back here, someone brought up Alice or Foster Bailey's statement that the A Bomb was created due to interaction of a couple of the "rays." Analyzing the alleged nature of them, I concurred that it did indeed look like a convergence of science and occultism or whatever the convergence was. The KIND and MOTIVE of the two "rays" fit the results.
I suppose I was denounced as a "new ager" for saying that. I think I said, and my point was, that this was an admission by them, of the evil spirit nature behind the A bomb and especially I think now, the H bomb.

Some people here seem to think, that believing there can be spirits or influence from them is
itself a new age notion. Go read the Bible. oh, wait, you are maybe atheists who just don't
like some new age goals for personal reasons? or reform or otherwise modernized Jews? go
read the Talmud and Old Testament.

the other things, is that CERN has a big statue of shiva as the dancer, the idea being that the
universe is a dream and/or illusion spun off his dancing, and he is also the destroyer so....
While I doubt God would allow the destructive potential some worry about regarding CERN's experiments
to come about, this may be the intention of some of them.

Oppenheimer's famous quote when the first A bomb went off is from the Mahabharat or bagavad gita I
    forget which.

Between those who want depopulation of a radical sort, solely for their own power and
physical interests which gnostics would call hylic or not spiritual, and those who want this for gnostic interests, hatred of physical existence and
especially of mankind made in the image and likeness of God, there is a perfect convergence as to
goal and they can brainstorm on means.

You wrote @ 5:20 PM (re: Psalm 116:11): the person who said all men are liars reported saying it in his haste, alarm, etc., in other words, that he was wrong. or else that he had meant it as an ongoing absolute true at all times and at all places, and he was wrong.

You appear to want to use Psalm 116:11 as the grid by which to interpret the rest of Scripture pertaining to lying, which is misguided. For this would mean the psalmist is able to rightly know the hearts of all men. I think it much safer to go by the LORD’s words, as recorded by Moses in the Pentateuch (Numbers 23:19).

You wrote: now if the issue is am I a liar defined as having ever told a lie of any kind then yes and so are you. I’m glad you finally see the point. I’ve not ever said I’d never lied, as I certainly have. However, nowhere have I ever intimated that all wo/men lie all the time, which is absurd.

You wrote: My specific supposed lies of course are not mentioned. That’s probably because I’ve not ever stated anything to this effect. I’ve been merely addressing your comments about how Scripture speaks of lying. However, your much earlier comment above @ 2:13 PM states unequivocally, without exception, that you do not lie: asperger's has nothing to do with lying or stealing and I don't lie. And that is what paul responded to, and you subsequently responded to his statement.

I want to point out that, after a period of silence on this blog, you made it known that you perused some of the older comments, bringing up one of mine (@ 10:08 AM – on postmillennialism / pre-trib), then erroneously telling me I was wrong. Donald Keys hung at Findhorn, where a rather obviously demonic entity appeared with the usual whine
that the Church had made him out to be a demon. Cultivating "devas" or "nature
spirits," was involved. I saw a photo of an outrageously large

claiming that moon rock dust in
an experiment caused large plant growth. Given Keys' connections, he could probably have gotten some, to make it look like these
growths were the result of "devas." Straight up fraud.

SRI hosted VALS and New Age advertising agency, and it ALSO hosted remote viewing. An expose

By Michael Peter Langevin (the owner of the magazine, itself a project of Silva Mind Control.

Christine, obviously bored and tired of talking to herself, has apparently resorted to picking apart Constance's best selling book, "A Planned Deception."

    ReplyDelete
  185. the brief excerpt of the book about the Magical Blend magazine didn't include his experience in
Vera Cruz or involving Inca false gods. But it did mention him attending lectures by Starhawk. Constance has mentioned her
involvement in some political things as I recall. Starhawk was involved in protesting the G6 or G8 or whatever in Seattle.
While this would look anti globalist and therefore anti new age politics, it is simply an anti capitalist move of the sort
that claims Christianity is to blame for the worst manifestations of capitalism, which Christianity in fact denounces - greed, ambition, and disregard of workers, things Jesus pointedly attacked in His parables.

Starhawk is a witch who used to do Anderson-feri as well as other magic. Feri witchcraft had its origins
in the now defunct Harpy Coven in Oregon, whose members were all nominal Christians, church goers.
Three hand gestures are used, one of which is a disguised Trinitarian gesture, the boy scout hand formation, which they used to control spirits that were
    getting out of control.
Harpy drew on Ozark witchcraft which in turn draws on East Anglia witchcraft which in turn was identified, reluctantly, by a pagan researcher as being essentially
all that the witch trials in Europe said witches were. Toad magic is involved also. The Ozark witches have sex in their initiations, and make a pact with the devil. Anderson himself drew on
many sources incl. Hawaiian huna or kahuna, and melded this with the more
Ozarkian witchcraft of his wife Cora, who unlike bisexual Anderson (can't recall his first name)
was heterosexual and also unlike him retained a degree of quasi Christianity. Anderson was more
devil focused which followers tried to whitewash.
Feri is transferred, AS IS REIKI, by initiation from a person who has the feri current. Reiki is transferred also as a current, and originated in a spirit contact,
and Reiki upper levels involve the spirits back of it running the show.
Feri current has a reputation for being destabilizing, and the initiators are cautious who they
initiate. Some people have gone nuts. having the current and controlling it are two different things

Starhawk herself became wary of it, and stopped initiating using it. This would seem to be a more
direct connection to the devil than typical "fluff bunny" wicca. It tends to create "open mindedness" to sexual
experimentation including perversion in its initiates, according to the accounts of some in an egroup probably now defunct
    on yahoo groups.
One person reported that their "goddess" who prefers to manifest as a little girl, was in his case very provocative and he felt a wave of desire over him for her, it was encouraging pedophilia.
Some feri branches have put their foot down on some issues and are monogamous and heterosexual.
However, feri apparently led the charge in getting wicca to accept gays. Originally it was heterosexual only, because of the fertility orientation, and wanting male energies and female energies. feri was oriented to ecstatic shamanic states.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Anonymous10:24 AM

    Yes she should leave.
Why? (oh let us count the ways...)
But for the sake of Constance's work here is the biggest reason to me: Constance has noted what we need to know as warnings and whom to watch from her books and blog. She does this quite well. Christine adds all the extra not needed and sordid depths because she personally loves the topic details so much as to drag them out when they serve no purpose except for her to tout her much knowledge about the seamy and dark particulars she loves to think on. It is perverse how much she loves and revels in the sickness of the new age (old pagan) religion (under the guise of "fighting it"). She is actually given to it and deceived by it and the only she exposes is herself. Way too needy and way to absorbed and needs professional help. So this poor soul is not only distracting, but also preventing the real issues to be discussed here to be brought forward (and from other sources besides her view of the belly of the beast).

The proof she is zero help is that she will take no advice or censure even from the blog owner so she may persist in the parade of her dark world of her own head and heart.
Christine, this is not about you but you are sick enough to think so.

things being exposed with info that helps targeting. I remember
the scorn when I brought up Agenda 21. Of course that person may have been thinking that nothing but a focus on Nazism would do,
though Agenda 21 is compatible in the long run with the depopulation thing and the whole EU thing which is itself lauded
by Foster Bailey as the latest
effort by the same entities that were back of Hitler.
While I doubt the antichrist will come out of this, unless God is ready to allow this now, a persecution
of Christians could still happen anyway. The legal system is already treating Christian moral
issues supporters as guilty of hate speech.
