Can't say it much more succinctly than its propagandistic protagonists have said it:
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations seeks to address widening rifts between communities and societies by reaffirming a paradigm of mutual respect among peoples of different cultural and religious backgrounds and by helping to mobilize concerted action towards this end. It aims to bridge the world’s divides and to build trust and understanding across cultures and communities worldwide.
The Alliance of Civilizations was established in 2005 as a UN initiative jointly supported by the President of the Government of Spain and the Prime Minister of Turkey. It emerged out of a conviction that, in order to achieve sustainable peace, long-standing divisions between cultures need to be addressed.
In April 2007, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed Jorge Sampaio, former President of Portugal, as High-Representative for the Alliance. Under his leadership, the Alliance embarked on an extensive program of work which includes a range of practical initiatives and projects. The Alliance is supported by a Group of Friends, a growing network of over 100 governments and international organizations.
On 28-29 May 2010, a powerful network of over 2,000 political and corporate leaders, mayors, civil society activists, youth, journalists, foundations, international organizations, and religious leaders will come together in Rio and agree on joint actions to improve relations across cultures, combat prejudice and build the conditions for long-term peace. This isn't specifically related to the AoC, but it may fit. The Huffington Post had an article concerning Franklin Graham who was disinvited from the Pentagon National Day of Prayer due to comments he made regarding Islam.

There is a video with this, but the video wouldn't work for me. If you scroll down in the Huffington Post article to the comments people left, you can see the attitudes some have of the Christian faith.
These posters are the kind of people that would support something like AoC. They are the kind of people who might fall for "Maitreya."
Some excerpts from the article:
ReplyDelete"Rev. Franklin Graham, the evangelical minister who was disinvited from a Pentagon prayer service after concerns arose regarding his past offensive comments about Islam, is now accusing President Obama of "giving Islam a pass."
In an interview with Newsmax Television, Graham was asked if he thought there was a "pattern of hostility to traditional Christianity by the Obama administration."
Rev. Graham was then asked by the host about mounting "secular oppression" in the United States.
"No question, it's coming," Graham says. "I think when you preach that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the light, I think we're going to see, one day, people will say this is hate speech."
The president of the European Central Bank advocates for global governance. Here's a link to a Forbes blog site with a video of his comments. I originally linked to this from Born to Watch website.

ReplyDeleteChristianity and Cultural Survival
Posted by William Kilpatrick on May 4th, 2010 and filed under FrontPage.
The rise of Islam in Europe has been linked to a decline in Christianity and to a resulting loss of population. Does that mean that the U.S., a churchgoing nation with a healthy birth rate, is relatively immune to Islamization? Are we protected by our demographics?
Before answering that question, let’s review the situation in Europe. Church attendance in some European countries is down to five percent of the population. Polls in Denmark reveal that only nine percent of Danes say that religion is very important in their life. In Spain, 46 percent of Spaniards between the ages of 15 and 24 consider themselves atheists, and a poll of self-described Catholics in France found that 45 percent of them are unable to say what Easter celebrates. Meanwhile, in contrast to the empty Christian churches, the European mosques are overflowing.
The loss of faith seems to have brought with it a loss of cultural confidence. Increasingly, it is Muslims who dictate what can be published, what can be taught, and what can be said—even what works of art can be displayed. Now that the sign of the cross has been replaced by a relativistic shrug of the shoulders, the culture no longer seems worth defending. As Mark Steyn puts it, “You can’t help noticing that since abandoning its faith in the unseen world, Europe seems also to have lost faith in the seen one.”

"The aviation chaos unleashed by the eruption of Iceland’s volcano has added new impetus to a long-running effort to unite Europe’s airspace."
"Europe's skies are some of the busiest in the world. On average 28,000 airliners take off and land in Europe every day, more than a third of 80 000 flights worldwide. But after the eruption on 14 April, many of those planes were grounded for nearly a week as a giant ash cloud hovered over the continent, creating dangerous conditions for aviation."
"More than 100 000 flights were cancelled, stranding millions of passengers and disrupting air traffic worldwide. The EU estimates the crisis cost airlines, tour operators and other European business up to €2.5bn."
"This will change under the 'single European sky' – a set of laws adopted in 2004 and revised in
2008. The legislation calls for replacing the EU's 27 airspaces with nine functional blocks of sky managed by a SINGLE AUTHORITY."
"The rules are set to take effect in 2012, but in the wake of the ASH CLOUD CRISIS, the Commission is recommending they be put into practice by the END OF THIS YEAR. EU transport ministers will discuss the proposal at a special meeting on 4 May."

I checked out the website for the Rio gathering. The website lists some of the world leaders who will be participating. One of them is the Prime Minister of Spain, which is interesting since his country's economy is going down in flames. Apparently being at this conference is more important than dealing with his country's crisis.

SPAIN'S PM REJECTS DEBT CRISIS BAILOUT RUMOURS
Zapatero says suggestions of debt crisis contagion from Greece are 'intolerable'
...The Spanish prime minister rounded angrily today on "intolerable" rumours that contagion from the Greek debt crisis could destabilise Madrid and see it seeking hundreds of billions in bailout funds.
José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero said he had been told of a rumour that he might request €280bn (£240bn) to shore up Spanish finances against a market onslaught.
"The truth is I give it no credit; it is complete madness," he told journalists in Brussels. "These rumours can increase differences and hurt the interests of our country, which is simply intolerable and of course we intend to fight it."
Zapatero, who currently holds the EU presidency, met Herman Van Rompuy, the president of the European council, and José Manuel Barroso, head of the European commission, to prepare an emergency summit on Friday of the heads of government of the 16 countries using the single currency.
The summit will conduct a post-mortem on the Greek debacle, which climaxed at the weekend with agreement on the first ever bailout of a euro country, costing €110bn over three years for the eurozone countries and the International Monetary Fund. Van Rompuy has told the 16 leaders he wants their dinner on Friday to focus on "the lessons to be learned for the euro area".
Olli Rehn, the commissioner for monetary affairs, is to announce proposals tomorrow for much greater economic and fiscal co-ordination across the eurozone, intrusive peer scrutiny of member states' budgets and books and penalties for fiscal misconduct.
The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, will come to Friday's summit armed with a battery of proposals for stiffer rules and sanctions in the eurozone. But with the leaders taking six months to try to get to grips with a worsening Greek emergency, they will also struggle to get ahead of the curve if the crisis cascades across southern Europe.
"People criticise the European Union for slow decision-taking," said Zapatero. "But there are democratic processes involved."
The markets were extremely jittery today, unimpressed by the Greek rescue, while the euro slid against the dollar and Madrid's stock market took a pounding.
Spain's situation worsened last week when Standard & Poor's, one of the three big credit rating agencies, slightly downgraded its status after Portugal was also relegated and Greek debt was designated junk. Intense exasperation among European leaders with the conduct and power of the ratings agencies is generating a growing number of calls for decisive regulatory action to curb their influence....read entire article...

Benjamin Creme on Raj Patel April 20
ReplyDeleteThis article appeared on p37 of the Main section section of the Guardian on Tuesday 20 April 2010
Raj Patel is not Maitreya, but the World Teacher is here – and neededThis is no mystical bedtime story but a profound part of the history of the world
Raj Patel writes about how a series of coincidences led to his receiving "a trickle, then a flood, of email" asking whether he was Maitreya, the World Teacher, whose coming I have been predicting for 35 years [We don't need a messiah (and anyway, it isn't me), 12 April].
I would like to make clear that we at Share International have absolutely nothing to do with this mistaken identity and that we regret the inconvenience caused. Patel accepts that he does have much in common with Maitreya: "As it happens, I do think that sharing, fraternity, justice and co-operation are terrific things. I also think that prioritising the needs of the poor, hungry and oppressed is a non-negotiable part of a sustainable future." This is part of the reason for this silly misidentification.
Patel writes: "In part, I suspect the reason the story isn't going away … is because it fits a narrative in which we're steeped from birth … in crappy times, a single person will emerge to make all the difference and turn everything around … Ultimately, tales about messiahs are bedtime stories steeped in power … inducements to be passive as we wait for social change because, some day, our prince will come."
However, I have never presented Maitreya as a messiah figure who comes to make all things bright and beautiful for a supine humanity. Maitreya himself is at pains to clarify his position that every stone and brick of the new civilisation must be put in place by humanity itself; humanity's free will is sacrosanct.
My biggest difference with Patel is my conviction in the reality of a "World Teacher". Patel clearly does not think we need one. Millions disagree, and have invoked Maitreya's help.
To my mind Patel leaves out a huge and irreplaceable dimension. Why do we think that over the centuries, people like Confucius, Krishna, the Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad have come into humanity's midst? Over and over, the doctrine of a World Teacher has manifested to aid humanity in times of crisis.
I am not a "mystic" as Patel suggests, and this is not a mystical "bedtime story" but a profound part of the history of the world. The role of World Teacher is now held by Maitreya; the previous holder of the office was the Buddha. This is an office in our Spiritual Hierarchy of Masters, who are gradually returning to the everyday world where once they lived as men.
Maitreya is not a religious teacher but a spiritual teacher in the broadest sense. He is really speaking about freedom: freedom for each of us to be ourself, and he has come to show humanity how to attain this freedom from indoctrination, conditioning, poverty and want.
The world is already awakening and growing in understanding through the energies and ideas released by the man who Patel thinks is irrelevant to our needs. Incognito, Maitreya is already speaking to millions on US television, and his ideas and energies are inspiring many with new hope, and the resolve to change their lives for the better.
I am not a betting man, but I would wager that Raj Patel would be among the first to respond to Maitreya's teaching.

ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, here is what Wikipedia had to say about the infamous claims being made about Raj Patel's "Messiahship."
...Benjamin Creme, self proclaimed esotericist, and owner of Share International magazine, has made several pronouncements since 1982[19][20] identifying the coming "Messiah/Maitreya (or future Buddha)" as having been born in 1972, traveled to London from India in 1977, been dark-skinned, and having a stutter. Shortly after Raj Patel appeared on the TV show The Colbert Report, to promote his recent book, The Value of Nothing, Creme stated the Messiah had appeared on a popular television program in the United States.[21] Patel was identified as this messiah by Creme's followers as he fulfilled Creme's previous predictions. During the March 15, 2010 show, Colbert claimed this was product of a Colbert Bump, mocked people who were worshiping Patel, and called him personally on the telephone to humorously confirm his status as the deity, which Patel denied. Benjamin Creme had also predicted that the Messiah would deny his status, reinforcing his followers' belief in Patel's divine status.[neutrality is disputed] Patel's family reportedly jokingly brought him clothes from London bearing the slogan from Monty Python's Life of Brian: "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"
Creme protested to the New York Times journalist Scott James for inaccuracies in his article about Patel (Scott James was first to write about that subject). Creme said to Scott that he didn't do his research before writing article because it does not show whole and proper story Creme was introducing while traveling around the world last 35 years and later through the internet. Scott replied that he only wrote about people who already declared Patel as Maitreya. Creme responded that people are hysterical, because their claims are not consistent with his story. He also stated that Maitreya created his own body in 1977, so Patel being born in 1972 could not be the same person. He never gave pronouncements in his lectures for Maitreya having been born in 1972, been dark-skinned, and having a stutter.....

It is even more interesting to check out the ideology of the Zapatista Army.
The ideology of the Zapatista movement, Zapatismo, combines traditional Mayan practices with elements of anarchism and libertarian socialism. There is a long history of anarchism in Mexico, of which Zapatismo is a descendant. A Zapatista slogan is in harmony with the concept of mutual aid: "For everyone, everything, for us, nothing" (Para todos todo, para nosotros nada).
The EZLN opposes neo-liberal globalization, arguing that it severely and negatively affects the peasant way of life of its indigenous support base and oppressed people worldwide. An example of neo-liberal policy that the EZLN opposes is the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Apart from opening the Mexican market to cheap mass-produced US agricultural products, NAFTA spells an end to Mexican crop subsidies without a corresponding end to US ones, and drastically reduced the income and living standards of many southern Mexican farmers who cannot compete with the subsidized, artificially fertilized, mechanically harvested and genetically modified imports from the United States. The signing of NAFTA also resulted in the removal of Article 27 Section VII in the Mexican Constitution which previously had guaranteed land reparations to indigenous groups throughout Mexico.....

ReplyDeleteThis combining of "traditional Mayan practices" with elements of anarchism and libertarian socialism is a perfect example of the so-called "inculturation" advocated by the Italian Communist Antonio Gramsci.

ZAPATISMO AND THE EMERGENCE OF INDIGENOUS FEMINISM
http://www2.fiu.edu/~hudsonv/HernandezCastillo.pdf
The following is from the Encyclopedia of Religion:
ZAPATISMO AND INDIGENOUS RESISTANCE
ZAPATISMO AND INDIGENOUS RESISTANCE . The EZLN's (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) seizure of five municipalities on January 1, 1994, in Chiapas follows a tradition of insurrections and armed rebellions dating back to the arrival of Europeans to the region. Examples of these insurrections include the Zoque community rebellion, 1532–1534; Mayan descendants executed a Spanish mayor in 1693; the Cancuquero people, in alliance with other communities, rose up in 1712; and in 1869–1870 the Chamulas and Tzotziles rebelled. San Cristóbal de las Casas, the main city in which the first EZLN uprising played out, is named for Bartolomé de las Casas (sixteenth-century Spanish archbishop and defender of the thesis that the indigenous peoples, contrary to the Catholic Church's position, indeed possessed souls). The experience of the indigenous struggle against the Spanish crown and then the Mexican nation-state took on more clear articulations with the leadership of Emiliano Zapata, who drew upon Zapotec cultural traditions, and the modern anticapitalist conceptualizations of Marxism, Leninism, and anarchism during the Mexican Revolution. Zapata brought the indigenous traditions that informed the politics of the ejidos and the autonomy of the land together with modern revolutionary articulations of the seizure of power. This mode seeks either to maintain the state structure according to Leninist inspiration or to eliminate it according to Bakuninian thought and indigenous beliefs and convictions surrounding land autonomy. Zapata agreed with the anarchist Flores-Magón brothers and favored the dissolution of the state. The most important document of this period (which divides the urban and the villista camps from the land-based Zapatista camp during the Mexican civil war) was the "Plan de Ayala," written by the Zapatista Army of the South on December 11, 1911. The plan sustains that the people must remain armed until the land is concretely transferred back into the hands of the indigenous peoples.

ReplyDeleteIn the 1960s, during the worldwide intellectual movements, the student movements, the inspiration of the Cuban revolution, and the Soviet and Chinese forms of Marxism, the ELN (Army of National Liberation) and other groups developed in Mexico. This party became one of the few that remained active in the 1970s after the student massacre at Tlatelolco under the Diaz Ordaz presidency in 1968. When the urban revolutionaries, among them the future subcomandante Marcos, arrived in Chiapas in the early 1980s with the intent to develop an armed Zapatista uprising, they found the region in a state of political agitation. The diocese of San Cristóbal formed part of the political action inspired by Liberation Theology, and the Mayan communities were clear about the urgent need for liberation in order to continue to exist as autonomous cultures with their own worldviews and pertinent social structures. The Zapatista revolutionaries installed themselves in Las Cañadas and learned from the local peoples. Here is one example of "traditional Mayan practices" being combined with with elements of anarchism and libertarian socialism.:
The inaugural ceremony began with the words and presence of those “from below.” Memory of the pre-Hispanic past was visible with an indigenous offering and ritual, performed by the Calmecac Altepetl Zacapan group. Men and women called upon the history of Mexico, to connect it with the present in the neo-Zapatista struggle, with collective and spiritual memory....
....Within the political context that has permeated Mexican society since the EZLN published the Sixth Declaration from the Lacandon Jungle last July, the Caracol Tecpanpa is a focal point of resistance, which has enlisted itself in the “Other Campaign.” The Other Campaign has begun to spark actions in different parts of the country, such as the Zapatistas’ act of “naming our own dead” to celebrate Mexico’s traditional Day of the Dead on November 1 and 2. These activities continue, with political/cultural events and workshops happening across the country from November 11–20, organized by collectives, free media, and individuals. It now falls on the people of Xochimilco to prepare their caracol to join this collective journey.
But the journey is just beginning for Caracol Tecpanpa. It will be a long trek toward the construction of alternative and autonomous spaces, where power is built from below, for those from below. Don Félix’s salute and Digna Ochoa’s name are strong symbols aimed at recovering collective memory and imagination. The principles of the reproduction of life through Mother Earth (the goddess Tonantzin), through the pre-Hispanic chinampas, represent an ancient struggle that gives shape to this new hope in Xochimilco, in a rebel corner of this Mexico that still wears the appearance of the 19th century....read entire article...

The Zapatistas are in solidarity with Rural Landless Workers Movement of Brazil.
Needless to say the European Union is against efforts being made by the Mexican government to put down the anarchist/socialist-oriented Zapatista rebellion.
...At the beginning of July, the Rural Landless Workers Movement of Brazil expressed its indignation at and total rejection of the military incursions into the Zapatista communities. This social movement fears that the Mexican state will declare open war and try to legitimize it, while its real objective is to destroy the Zapatista National Liberation Army. Movement spokespeople warned that if the government continued attacking the Zapatista communities, their important movement would use all means available to generate mobilizations in solidarity with the Zapatistas and in repudiation of the Mexican state’s military and repressive policy. The Brazilian Landless demanded that the Mexican government withdraw its armed forces detached to the conflict zone in Chiapas.
Meanwhile, over 200 groups from different parts of the world demanded that the Mexican government cease its aggression against the Zapatistas and lamented the Mexican media’s conspiratorial silence. A group of democratic lawyers in Mexico delivered a letter to the embassies of France, Italy, Denmark and Germany calling on those respective European Union member governments to recommend that the Mexican government respect the law and stop using the army to attack and harass the Zapatista communities. They pointed out that such harassment violates the Law for Dialogue, Conciliation and Dignified Peace in Chiapas approved by Congress years ago, as well as the different international human rights instruments....

Nick,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. I have begun to wonder if Smart Dust and in some ways nano tech have become boogeymen to get people looking beyond what is already possible. Smart Dust for example, is completely unneccesary in that with a completely interconnected system the size of a sensor or reader is of no relevance. RFID tags and other chips can be made in pretty miniscule sizes. If one can already produce one small enough to fit into any product currently produced, why is something smaller neccesary? Enviromental reasons don't count as it matters not if the sensor is the size of a grain of sand or the size of a basketball, so long as it can give accurate readings.
I am a little more concerned with the transhumanistic applications of nanotech, but these are two very different subjects and many of these applications are already among us. I know there are groups looking to further develop these technologies, but I don't believe they are as imminent of a threat as technologies that already exist and are being implemented under our noses.

This is getting a little too coincidental for me. First we have a coal mine collapse which takes up a ton of attention and to my knowledge has yet to be properly explained. Next a oil rig explosion, which is causing one of the worst eco disasters ever, this too has yet to be properly explained, nor has why the failure of all of the numerous fail safes. We then get a botched car bomb in New York. Now a truck has exploded at a refinery in San Antonio, Tx. Which has spread to the refinery itself, and it appears from the reports I am seeing that certain safety measures have failed here as well. Is it just me or does all of this seem a little too coincidental? In all of these cases saftey measures, which are inspected regularly mind you, have failed leading to much bigger problems. This is happening soley in industries that are in the cross hairs currently under climate legislation. Again I ask, is this not a little too coincidental that we would have three of these type of disasters in such direct succesion and that in all of the cases saftey measures would fail?

ReplyDeleteLiving Earth Simulator hopes to unlock secrets of the past, present, future
Computer to map every detail possible
Aims to predict where we're heading
EU funding to tune of $1.5 billion
IT'S like the real-life version of popular video game Sim Earth, in which players build and manage their own planet.
This week, the world's leading techno-socio-economic guru Dirk Helbing outlined his vision of the Earth's future, or rather, the means to acquire it.
At a cost of $1.5bn, the Living Earth Simulator will gather as much data about humanity as possible, mining every available source to produce a picture of where we're at and where we're heading.
Like Google Earth with a mind-numbing amount of extra detail added - namely, everything.
It will be built in Switzerland, home of that other enormously ambitious project to map just about everything, the Large Hadron Collider, and it's not too big a stretch to suggest it may be able to predict the future.
Finances, pandemics, emissions, weather patterns, transport, wars - if humanity indulges in it, affects it or is afflicted by it, it goes into the simulator.
Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.
.End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.
And ideally, what comes out the other end is a sharper vision of where we're all headed.
Whether we actually want to see that is another question, because it could well be like having your own genome sequenced and finding out you'll be dead by the end of the year.
Helbing hopes his simulator - he's coined the term "knowledge accelerator" - will be up and running by 2022, which is, perhaps not coincidentally, exactly 42 years after Douglas Adams published the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.
Helbing believes it could be used by global leaders to view and manage current and future crises in "situation rooms".
"With our knowledge of the universe, we have sent men to the moon," Helbing writes in a paper on the project released online.
"Humankind is now facing serious crises for which we must develop new ways to tackle the global challenges of humanity in the 21st century.
"We know microscopic details of objects around us and within us. And yet we know relatively little about how our society works and how it reacts to changes brought upon it."
The main concerns are not for how the Living Earth Simulator will be used, but for how it could be misused.
For global financial companies, it could be a goldmine.
In the hands of terrorist organisations, it's ability to map consequences on a global scale could prove devastating.
The start up cost will be somewhere around $1.5 billion and it's so far wholly funded by the European Union, which shows it is taking the project and its possibilities very, very seriously.

This appears to me to be yet another dig at Israel, in that this would cut their only true deterent measure out from under them. I am not supporting any form of nuclear conflict, but can one imagine what Israel's neighbors might try if it were not for the weapons they do have.
Stocks, Euro Slide on Debt Concern; MSCI World Erases 2010 Gain
ReplyDelete.....European Central Bank council member Axel Weber said there is a threat of “grave contagion effects,” while Moody’s Investors Service warned it may cut Portugal’s debt rating and three people were killed in an Athens fire set during protests against austerity measures. Pacific Investment Management Co.’s Bill Gross told CNBC that Greece, Spain and Portugal may need to restructure debt, while Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Chief Economist Erik Nielsen said Greece may be forced to restructure next year.
“The reason we have to worry is, let’s face it, this is a global environment,” said Jason Pride, director of investment strategy at Glenmede in Philadelphia, which manages $18 billion. “The primary concern is the contagion risk associated with Greece and some of the other problematic nations in Europe and the follow-on effects on long-term economic growth. We may be in for more of a rough and volatile period.”......
.....Traders are betting a Greece’s European Union-led bailout will fail to ease concern other indebted countries will need rescue packages. Investors demanded an extra 132 basis points to hold Spanish 10-year bonds instead of German bunds today, the most since the euro’s inception and up from 116 basis points yesterday. The difference for Portuguese bonds jumped to 295 basis points from 252 basis points.
Portugal Ratings
Portugal may have its Aa2 credit rating cut by Moody’s Investors Service as the country struggles to reduce its budget deficit and revive economic growth, the latest sign that contagion from the Greek crisis is spreading. WHAT'S THE GREEK ECONOMY REALLY LIKE?
ReplyDelete....The government's proposals for deep spending cuts already have stoked strong resentments in a country where one in three people is employed in a civil service that, until now, has guaranteed jobs for life.
In Germany, in contrast, it looks like only about 10% of the labor force works for the government. Knowing the Germans, it's easy to believe that its government employees accomplish as much as the Greeks' despite their smaller population share. This implies that 25% of the Greek labor force is, contrary to official stats, producing nothing....read entire article....

ReplyDeleteFascinating and timely info about the Zapo's/Toltecs/Mayan combining with "elements of anarchism and libertarian socialism". I watched the History Channel's "Apocolypse Island" documentary a couple of days ago. It is yet another in the long line of "2012" aka "Armageddon" videos recently aired by the good folks at HC. Amazing what passes for scholarship these days.
Just take a peak at the History Channel's extensive menu of related films:

So, when do you suppose the human sacrifices will start? After all, that was THE main ritual component of traditional Mayan religion, (which no doubt led to widespread demonic activity and the fall of their entire civilization).
You wrote:
"Note that Carlos Castaneda became an initiate into Yaqui Indian sorcery ( i.e THE TEACHINGS OF DON JUAN, etc.) under the guise of anthropological research."
There is no evidence to support that claim. Most scholars consider Castaneda's personal accounts (as recorded in his books) to be fraudulent. It is reasonable to assume the man did imbibe a whopping amount of hallucinagenic substances over his lifetime, and obviously did become enamored, and later completely consumed by witchcraft. The combination undoubtedly opened himself and others around him to demonic possession. Therefore nothing he recorded, did, or said, should be considered "true". But I guess that's why he's such a darling of the NA.

ReplyDelete2 Day Drill Will Simulate WMD Attack On Sioux Falls
Originally printed at http://www.ksfy.com/news/local/92831879.html
Tomorrow begins a two day terrorism response drill that will be held here in the city of Sioux Falls.
The National Guard, Sioux Falls Fire and other first responders will be taking part, simulating a response to an attack involving weapons of mass destruction.
If you think we're safe because we're in Sioux Falls, think about this: in 1995, before Timothy McVeigh bombed the Oklahoma City Federal Building, one of his other targets had been the Sioux Falls Federal Building.
Sirens, soldiers and people in moon suits helping the sick and the dying.
For the next two days, this is the grim scenario that will play out in Sioux Falls.
The Times Square car bomb case seems a million miles away from here.
"I tend not to worry about things like that, to me that's the beauty of living in a place such as South Dakota and a community such as Sioux Falls." Julie McLaughlin lives in Sioux Falls and tells us she feels safe.
But like most crimes, terror attacks are random meaning they could happen anywhere, even here.
This terror drill will simulate how Sioux Falls first responders would react to an attack involving multiple threats. Sergeant Rick Larson is with the South Dakota Air National Guard. "Mainly focusing on weapons of mass destruction in the chem-bio arena and perhaps a little in the radioactive arena."
The concerns go beyond a direct, physical attack.
In February, South Dakota U-S Attorney Brendan Johnson warned of the risk of terrorists poisoning the food supply by attacking the nation's cattle herds.
Pat DeVaney lives in Sioux Falls and tells us, he is worried. "I think the American people aren't going to realize just the danger we're in until something happens in the heartland and that does include cities like Sioux Falls."
And exercise organizers are saying tonight, don't be surprised or alarmed if you see a lot of military vehicles driving on Sioux Falls streets over the next two days.
They're part of this big exercise.
omots,
ReplyDeleteYou could very well be right about Castaneda's personal accounts being fraudulent.
Castaneda claimed to have been initiated into "Nagualism."
Many believe that Nagualism itself is a complete hoax and Castaneda was reputed to be a colossal fibber.
It is also possible that Castaneda claimed to be practicing "authentic" Yaqui sorcery in the same way certain "wiccans" claim to be following in the true path of the "old religion."
In any case, whatever Carlos Castaneda's particular brand of occultism entailed, he is generally regarded as a godfather of the New Age Movement.
His occultism was not confined exclusively to Native American shamanism either
Prior to writing about his own drug-induced adventures, Castaneda reportedly wrote a term paper on Aldous Huxley for his second year English class at Los Angeles Community College. Castaneda had become interested in occult topics after reading Huxley’s THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION and its account of mescaline research.
Carlos Castaneda is also said to have borrowed his term "Tensegrity" from Buckminster Fuller.

ReplyDeleteSarkozy/Merkel: Need Greater Economic Governance In Euro Zone -Report
PARIS (Dow Jones)--The French president and German chancellor Thursday outlined principles to increase economic governance in the euro zone as they stressed the need to preserve the stability of the single-currency zone.
In extracts of a letter published in French daily Le Monde, Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel called on the European summit Friday to send a strong signal on what they are prepared to consider.
Sarkozy and Merkel called for strengthening budgetary supervision and more effective sanctions against excessive public deficits. There must be more coherence between budget deficits and the European Union's Stability and Growth Pact, under which a country's deficit shouldn't exceed 3% of gross domestic product.
The "efficiency" of the EU's recommendations on economic policy should be strengthened, the heads of state of the euro zone's two largest economies say in the letter.
Supervision should extend to structural issues, competitiveness and imbalances, they say.
Sarkozy and Merkel also call for a robust framework for dealing with future crises.
The two heads of state say that the lessons of the financial crisis should not be forgotten and states should no longer be obliged to come to the aid of banks.
"It should be possible for banks to fail without engendering systemic risk for the entire financial sector," they say.

Susanna,
ReplyDeleteI'm well aware of Castaneda's bio, but do not consider him to be a godfather of anything, let alone the new age movement. He's just another cog in the wheel, another player on the board, another node on the web. There's no room on this blog to list all the "godfathers" and "godmothers" and all their earthly and/or other worldly "connections".
RE Human sacrifices...abortion is a thoughtless act, not usually considered as an offering unto the gods. But then again, maybe being thoughtless about an unborn life IS the ultimate form of human sacrifice. One could certainly argue that abortion is an act which is on par, or may even be considered a greater evil than the willful murder of an adult who has at least lived for a number of years.
I think the bottom line is the results for any civilization that practices such things will be the same.
oops, forgot to sign off on above comment..

How many abortion clinics are in your town?
ReplyDeleteomots
All,
ReplyDeleteMany may be aware of this group and in all likelyhood it has been covered, but for those who have yet to see it. I got a email from someone showing me a connection between Muhammad Yunus and the Club of Budapest. This group is interesting in that it gives connections to many familiar names Ervin Laszlo, Deepak Chopra, Mikhail Gorbachev, Barbara Marx Hubbard, etc. The Club operates under the World Wisdom Council to lift the world to a new level of consciousness. They do so on many levels and I will let others explore the site itself to see what I mean.
http://www.clubofbudapest.org/wwc.php
They operate the WWC in partnership with The World Commision on Global Consciousness and Spirituality. This groups members list is one full of familiar names as well. It is when one gets into the Global Councils that the names get really interesting. Jane Goodall, Desmond Tutu, Jean Houston, Deepak Chopra, Al Gore, Dennis Kuccinich, Marianne Williamson, Douglas Roche, Mikhail Gorbachev, Steven Rockefeller, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Peter Russell, Bono, Peter Gabriel, Steven Spielberg, Michael Douglas, Susan Sarandon, and Robert Redford as well as many others all appear as members of various global councils.

ReplyDeleteECB aid to Spanish banks matches Rock rescue
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, International Business Editor
Published: 7:45PM GMT 28 Jan 2008
Spanish banks are issuing mortgage securities and asset-backed bonds on a massive scale to park at the European Central Bank, using them as collateral to raise money at favourable rates from the official credit window in Frankfurt.
The rating agency Moody's said lenders had issued a record €53bn (£39bn) in the fourth quarter, yet almost none of the securities have actually been placed on the open market. Most have been sent directly to the ECB for use in "repo" operations.
"The market has shut down," said Sandie Arlene Fernandez, the author of the report.
"Few, if any, of the transactions in the RBMS market (mortgage securities) have been placed since September. Some of the banks are hoping that the market will open up again but most are just preparing these deals to use as repos, which they can do since the ECB accepts AAA-rated securities," she said.
The total volume of securities issued since the credit crunch began to bite in July has reached €63bn.

ReplyDeleteReliance on the ECB window appears to have kept the mortgage sector afloat despite the sharp slowdown in the Spanish property market and the de facto closure of the capital markets for this type of business, allowing Spain to avoid the sort of mishap suffered by Northern Rock in Britain and Countrywide in the US.
The data appear to confirm suspicions that the EU authorities have carried out a covert rescue of the Spanish mortgage banking system.
It may equal the taxpayer rescue of Northern Rock in Britain, and possibly exceed it in proportion to the overall size of Spain's economy...read more...

Merkel plea to save Europe as contagion hits Iberia
Europe's debt markets are flashing danger signals after spreads on Iberian (Spanish and Portuguese) debt reached the highest level since the launch of the euro and investors rushed for safety into German notes, prompting warnings from German Chancellor Angela Merkel that the European Project itself is at risk.
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, International Business Editor
Published: 9:53PM BST 05 May 2010
"Contagion pressures continue to rage unabated," said Marco Annunziata, Europe economist at UniCredit. "The flames have rushed through the firewall of the IMF/EU programme for Greece and now threaten other peripheral countries."
"While the sell-off on sovereign bond markets so far remains discriminating, the risk that it might suddenly mutate into irrational panic can no longer be ignored. Eurozone policymakers need to take further steps quickly," he said.
Mrs Merkel made a moving plea to the Bundestag to support the €110bn (£93bn) rescue for Greece. "Nothing less than the future of Europe is at stake. The happy tale of German history since World War Two and our emergence as a free, united, and strong country cannot be separated from the European Union. We owe decades of peace and prosperity to the understanding of our neighbours," she said.
"Europe today is looking to Germany. As the strongest economy in Europe, Germany has a special responsibility and it takes this responsibility to heart.
"Immediate help is needed to ensure the financial stability of the eurozone. This must be done to avoid a chain-reaction to the European and international financial system, and contagion to other eurozone states. There is no alternative."....read more...

Abortion of as many humans as possible is the socially and ecologically responsible thing to do. After all, we have to get rid of as many humans as possible. "This year we have a one-off opportunity to really bring home to the world the importance of the need to save nature for all life on Earth," said Jane Smart, head of the IUCN's Biodiversity Conservation Group.”
“Facing what many scientists say is the sixth mass extinction in half-a-billion years, our planet urgently needs a "bailout plan" to protect its biodiversity, a top conservation group said Thursday.”
"If we don't come up with a big plan now, the planet will not survive," she said.”
“The IUCN draws together more than 1,000 government and NGO organisations, and 11,000 volunteer scientists from about 160 countries.”

TOO MANY!
JD,
ReplyDeleteThe World Commission on Global Consciousness is a "Who's Who" of New Agers.
Don't forget to mention U2's Bono. He is particularly dangerous because he has been marketed to "sheep" through Bill Hybles and Rick Warren. He supposedly converted to "Christianity", but the witness of true conversion is missing from his rhetoric, ie. faith in the blood sacrifice for sins and belief in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He speaks much of "grace" without definition. He throws the term around to mean "co-existence". In fact he's big on Co-Existence and his ONE campaign is promoted by Mike Huckabee, another favorite of conservative evangelicals.
He's also dangerous because some of his songs are used as "worship" songs in contemporary services even though devoid of the points mentioned previously.
I expect that as the AoC grows now, we'll hear much more about Bono's ONE Campaign. He's a darling of these folks.
However, regarding the World Comission on Global Consciousness, it appears to be one of those "now you see us/now you don't" entities. Although it looks very auspicious, there has been no change in the website since I first looked at it 2 years ago.
Awakening Mind, on the other hand, is updated more often. It's the child of Ashok Gangadean of Haverford College. There is a poster for an even coming up soon on the site.
But I suspect even this is a "front". Dorothy has sniffed this out before and I'm inclined to agree with her.
Correction re: Ashok Gangadean. There is a poster for an event coming up soon on his site.
ReplyDeleteIn fact it's in my back yard (relatively speaking).
Are there any new developments in this area? Notice the responibilities in the last paragraph.
ReplyDeleteFrance and Germany eye top job in EU diplomatic corps
EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - With plans for the EU's new diplomatic corps entering their final stage, EU capitals have quietly begun to negotiate over who will take the top jobs up for grabs.
The office of EU foreign relations chief Catherine Ashton is aiming to submit a draft organigram for the External Action Service (EAS) to EU diplomats in Brussels on 17 March.
According to an EU official acquainted with the document, Ms Ashton's office wants the service to have nine senior posts: A secretary general, two deputy secretary generals and, below them, six director generals.
At the top of the hierarchy, Ms Ashton will mainly do shuttle diplomacy on the model of her predecessor, Javier Solana, who clocked up over 2.6 million air miles in his 10 years in office. The EU's 11 "special representatives," such as Marc Otte on the Middle East, will report directly to her.
The secretary general is to stay in Brussels and run the EAS on a day-to-day basis.
He will oversee the work of the six director generals and a number of autonomous EAS cells: the EU's Military Staff, responsible for planning overseas military missions; SitCen, an intelligence-sharing bureau; an internal security unit; an internal audit unit and a department handling communications and relations with other EU institutions.
Terri,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. These groups are still active, they just don't seem to be promoting themselves through their own sites. (I wonder why? wink wink)Worldshift is a example where WWC can be seen still involved as well as the founding members of many of the Global Councils.

There are many other sub groups which encorporate the same members with the same stated purpose. It appears to me that a couple of groups have attracted too much attention so a shift in name has taken place.

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of wine has Mikey Weinstein been drinking?
As an anti-Christian Jewish supremacist and as the president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, he's doing all he can to create an anti-Jewish backlash and help bring about the predicted endtime Holocaust of Jews that'll be worse than Hitler's.
Neither Falwell, Hagee nor any other Christian initiated this prediction. But Weinstein's ancient Hebrew prophets did.
In the 13th and 14th chapters of his Old Testament book, Zechariah predicted that after Israel's rebirth ALL nations will eventually be against Israel and that TWO-THIRDS of all Jews will be killed!
Malachi revealed the reasons: "Judah hath dealt treacherously" and "the Lord will cut off the man that doeth this."
Haven't evangelicals generally been the best friends of Israel and persons perceived to be Jewish? Then please explain the hate-filled back-stabbing by David Letterman (and Sandra Bernhard, Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher etc.) against followers of Jesus such as Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann.
Weinstein wouldn't dare assert that citizens on government property don't have freedom of speech or press freedom or freedom to assemble or to petition the government.
But God-hater Weinstein maliciously wants to eliminate from government property the "free exercise" of religion - especially by evangelicals - a freedom found in the same First Amendment. Significantly, this freedom was purposely listed FIRST by America's founders!
And Weinstein wouldn't try to foist "separation of church and state" on strongly-Jewish Israel, but he does try to foist this non-Constitution-mentioned phrase on strongly-Christian America.
In light of Weinstein's Jewish protectionism and violently anti-Christian obsession, Christians in these endtimes should be reminded of Jesus' warning in Mark 13:9 (see also Luke 21:12) that "in the synagogues ye shall be beaten."
Maybe it's time for some modern Paul Reveres to saddle up and shout "The Yiddish are Coming!"
PS - Some, like Weinstein, are so treacherously anti-Christian they will even join hands at times with enemies, including Muslims, in order to silence evangelicals. It was Weinstein, BTW, who put pressure on the Pentagon to dis-invite Franklin Graham from speaking there on the National Day of Prayer!
PPS - Weinstein is an echo of the anti-Christian, anti-American Hollywood which for a century has dangled every known vice before young people. We seriously wonder how soon the lethal worldwide "flood of filth" (global harming!) that Hollywood has created will engulf and destroy itself and help to bring to power the endtime Antichrist (a.k.a. the Man of Sin and the Wicked One)!
