THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE LAST APRIL:

    "By FAWN JOHNSON

The Federal Communications Commission took its first step Wednesday into the national debate on how to blanket the country with high-speed Internet, a top priority for President Barack Obama.

The commission approved a broad set of questions designed to solicit opinions from consumers, telecom companies and state and local governments, to name a few. Everyone has something to lose or gain in the process, and the public comment docket will be lengthy with disparate opinions. The FCC must present its broadband plan to Congress by February of next year.

"If we do our jobs right, this will be the most formative and, I believe, transformative proceeding ever in this commission's history," said Acting Chairman Michael Copps during an FCC public hearing.

"The FCC on Wednesday also approved a proposal to improve data collection about broadcasting entities owned by women and minorities

"In some ways, the FCC is late to the broadband party. For almost a month, potential applicants have been filing comments with the Commerce Department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture about how they should run a $7 billion grant program for Internet buildout in hard-to-serve areas.

"While Commerce and USDA are tasked with doling out grant money over the next 18 months, the FCC is expected to be the big thinker in terms of Internet policy. USDA and Commerce officials say they will be in constant consultation with the FCC as they develop their grant criteria.

"Mr. Copps outlined a few issues the FCC will focus on as it outlines its plan. "Ensuring broadband openness, avoiding invasions of peoples' privacy, and ensuring cyber security are three such challenges that come immediately to mind," he said.

"Much of what the FCC does now is simply teeing up the ideas that a new FCC chairman will carry out. Julius Genachowski, Mr. Obama's nominee to head the FCC, hasn't been confirmed for the post.

"Meanwhile, lawmakers, telecom companies, consumer advocates are weighing in on the areas they think deserve FCC focus. Last week, House Energy and Commerce Telecommunications Subcommittee Chairman Rick Boucher, D-Va., warned against "onerous" conditions on Internet grants that could deter private companies from seeking them.

"Telecom companies are wary of "open access" conditions that could be attached to government grants. Internet advocates, however, want the FCC to make a clear commitment to nondiscrimination in terms of Internet applications.

"The commission will seek data on Internet availability as well as people's use of it, particularly groups that are less likely to be wired up - people in lower income brackets, those with disabilities, minorities, and seniors.

CRITICAL COMMUNICATIONS TOWERS IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA IN DANGER FROM FIRE

Strike force formed to save communications towers

    Daily News Wire
    08/30/2009

MOUNT WILSON - Firefighters will attempt to keep a strike force of fire engines on Mount Wilson, where critical communications facilities are in jeopardy of being overrun, a fire official said.

"Our original plan was to pull all firefighters off of it now," said Mark Savage of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. "Right now, a strike team of engines is seeing if they can find a safe place to shelter up there. We are concerned that it will be overrun and we think it will burn, but we are not sure if the communication facilities will be overrun."

By late afternoon, a huge plume of smoke rose from the western side of the peak, and the fire was creating winds pushing it to the east up the peak.

"It's not a question of if, it's a question of when," Savage said earlier.

View Station Fire in a larger map

Dozens of TV technicians are normally are stationed at Mount Wilson to keep 22 Los Angeles TV stations operating, along with about 25 fm radio stations and vital police and fire radio dispatch equipment functioning.

"Everybody is off the mountain -- there was one last caretaker, but they took him off," said fire info officer Larry Marinas.

Fire officials were huddling at the command post in Lakeview Terrace, and an update on the blaze was expected around 7:30 p.m.

Most electronic operations on the mountain can be run by remote control, but power and communication lines are vulnerable.

Most satellite and cable companies have direct feeds from major TV stations to bypass a failure on Mount Wilson, but over the air TV and FM signals could be lost, along with hundreds of public safety radio repeaters that amplify signals from Tijuana to Santa Barbara.

  10. hi Constance,

I haven't been checking in here much, but found this definition of religion on Wikipedia as of 3AMEST August 31, 2009 very interesting, and thought I should share it here. It has since been changed, but I am posting it here to remind people NOT to use Wikipedia as a source for information.

"A religion is an organized exploitation of human spiritual vulnerabilities which usually encompasses a set of narratives, symbols, beliefs and practices, often with a supernatural or transcendent quality, that give meaning to the practitioner's experiences of life through reference to a higher power, God or gods, or ultimate truth. People practicing religion are usually weak-minded and vulnerable, making them easy preys for religious leaders. [1] It may be expressed through prayer, satanistic rituals, sexual orgies, meditation, music and art, among other things. It may focus on specific supernatural, metaphysical, and moral claims about reality (the cosmos and human nature) which may yield a set of religious laws, ethics, and a particular lifestyle. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and religious experience."

THE REAL TEDDY KENNEDY: DEADLY LEGACY FOR AMERICA

    http://newswithviews.com/Wooldridge/frosty496.htm

While he battled with brain cancer, we battle for our nation’s life. While he sailed his boat around Martha’s Vineyard, we picked up millions of pieces of trash on our borders from invading illegal alien hordes that he encouraged. While he tipped yet another glass of wine, we struggled to maintain our schools, communities, hospitals and prisons from this illegal invasion. While he sat on his barnyard-wide rear-end for 40 years in the Senate creating the problems that now destroy our nation, we watched the American Dream turn into a nightmare.

Contrary to the media across the nation fawning over the senator, Ted Kennedy may be likened to Nero of Rome who fiddled while it burned. Kennedy drank while we fought for our nation’s survival. Kennedy ate at the finest tables while we struggled with his voting for H-1B and H-2B visas that displaced millions of American workers. Kennedy sailed his boat while our nation sank into consequences of a dysfunctional and unsustainable nation.

Because of Kennedy, our successful culture finds itself turning into a foreign culture that failed, i.e., Mexico. The March PEW report shows Mexicans in America becoming the new dominate majority by 2042 at 53 percent.

In other words, rather than serving America and our future, Senator Ted Kennedy destroyed our America just as quickly as he took Mary Jo Kopechne’s life on a drunken night somewhere back in the 60s. As she fought for her life in that car as the waters rose above her, he escaped.

Are we seeing another culture formed with a mix of radical Muslims, and the far radical right and far radical left in this country?

Will we who have been fighting the New Age movement with facts be thrown into some kind of a category of those opposing the establishment? How can we prevent this?

WE SHOULD TRAIN OUR POLITICIANS LIKE WE TRAIN OUR DOGS

Dogs and politicians need rules, boundaries, and limitations.

    September 1, 2009 By Frank J. Fleming

We get angry with politicians a lot.

They seem to behave erratically and often work against our interests. At times, it’s like they don’t even hear us. It’s frustrating. They just seem like bad politicians, running around trying to pass laws they haven’t even read. We get angry and want to yell at them, but that only makes things worse.

I think we need a new model for approaching politicians. My suggestion: Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer.

Cesar’s philosophy is that he rehabilitates dogs and trains people, because a dog’s behavior is really a reflection of its owner’s energy. In the same way, maybe there aren’t bad politicians, but instead, a politician’s behavior is a reflection of his voters. If voters learn to give off the right energy, then we can have calm, submissive, balanced politicians who do what they’re supposed to do.

See, with a dog, a person needs to be the pack leader so the dog knows whom it should follow. If no one acts like the leader, the dog will think it’s in charge and not listen to commands. Similarly, politicians need to be constantly reminded that the people are in charge. Otherwise, they’ll begin to think they’re in charge and not listen to people — and maybe even try to boss them around. So we all just need to learn how to show politicians that we are the pack leaders.

For example, a lot of people are trying to get different behaviors out of dogs and politicians by going to town hall meetings and yelling at them. Now, as Cesar would tell you, that is not a good strategy. While that might intimidate some of the more timid dogs and politicians, many of them will feed off that angry energy and only get more frantic, barking and calling everyone who disagrees with them racists and Klansmen.

Instead, we need to use calm, assertive energy to tell dogs and politicians what is expected of them. We need to say in a firm — but not angry — voice: “No.” Or: “Sir, you need to at least read the bill that would take over large sectors of the economy.”

The dogs and politicians will probably resist, so you’ll have to repeat this numerous times and remain calm yet forceful the whole time. It’s a challenge, but if you stick to calm, assertive behavior, eventually the dog or politician will realize who is in charge and relent.

As Cesar will tell you, dogs and politicians often act out because they don’t know what’s expected of them. To help with that, they need rules, boundaries, and limitations. For instance, our dog isn’t allowed in the kitchen. We make that clear to her by calmly making her leave any time she tries to enter. She constantly tests this since we just moved into a new house, but as long as we’re consistent, she will understand what her boundaries are.

    cont...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Susanna1:01 PM

    cont...

Politicians are the same way. Their rules, boundaries, and limitations are clearly defined in the Constitution, but the key is to be consistent in enforcing them so politicians will know what we expect of them.

For example, socialism is clearly not allowed, but politicians are constantly testing this boundary and often ignoring it entirely.

Why? We’re not always consistent about it. When the economy got so bad, we got tired of telling the politicians no and let them take over the auto industry. You can see why they’re now confused as to why we’re angry at them for trying to take over health care; it’s because we weren’t consistent. These mixed messages confuse and frustrate dogs and politicians and maybe even cause them to lash out.

Consistency is important, but that’s not all there is to handling your dog or politician. Cesar recommends that you give dogs and politicians exercise, discipline, and affection, in that order. He often thinks it’s good for a dog or a politician to have a job so that it can feel fulfilled and earn affection. So we can’t be yelling at our dogs or politicians until we’ve first given them some exercise by giving them something to do.

Right now, we expect little of our legislators and just let them run around in circles trying to pass earmarks for special interests. Instead, we need to give them a real task, like hunting down terrorists, that they have to complete before moving on to anything else. If they have to spend time on that each day, they’ll have less energy to meddle with other things and pass bills full of pork. Dogs and politicians love pork.

One of the big problems with Obama is that the press has often skipped right over exercise and discipline and gone straight to giving him affection. Without the exercise and the discipline, that just gives Obama energy to do bad things, like give us massive new debt. Once again, we need to give him clear tasks and only give him affection when he’s earned it.

If he hits some of the Taliban with a drone missile strike, then we can tell him, “That’s a very good president.” When affection comes after the exercise and the discipline, he’ll better understand what is expected of him and be a much more balanced president. Then we won’t have to worry so much about how he acts when we have company over (like foreign dignitaries).

Finally, Cesar constantly reminds everyone that dogs and politicians are not people, and you have to treat them like what they are: dogs and politicians. It can be frustrating when you’ve told the dog to stop barking for the fortieth time and told the politician to keep his hands off your wallet for the sixtieth time, but if you’re consistent, calm and assertive, give clear rules, boundaries, and limitations, and only give affection after exercise and discipline, you can have well-behaved canines and legislators.

Now go to a town hall and be a pack leader!

I urge you to find a PC that you can view the video. I promise it will bother you, unless you have already "come to Obama" as his followers like to say.

The paragraph and lyrics below are from Obama's official campaign website. The video was produced by NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker, Holly Schiffer, Peter Rosenfeld, Darin Moran, Jean Martin, Andy Blumenthal, and Nick Phoenix.

"Sing for Change chronicles a recent Sunday afternoon in Venice, when 22 children, ages 5-12, gathered to sing original songs in the belief that their singing would lift up our communities for the coming election."

    Just a thought.
It seems the covenant of Daniel's prophecy in 9:27 is generally thought to be a "peace treaty" but I put forward a new thought for comment. In the whole prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 there is no actual mention of "peace" anywhere - it has been assumed by people for ages. The Septuagint - otherwise known as the LXX manuscript (which Jesus, the disciples and the early church read from ) does not mention any peace covenant either. Verse 27 in the LXX reads thus: "And one week shall establish the covenant with many: and in the midst of the week my sacrifice and drink offering shall be taken away ..."
My thought is that instead of the covenant dealing with "peace" it is a covenant which allows Jews to set up sacrificial offerings in exchange for things which the other treaty partners seek; but the Antichrist breaks this covenant halfway through. The breaking of the covenant is associated with the stopping of the sacrifices in verse 27 and I suggest it has nothing to do with a peace treaty! Looking forward to thoughts on this!

If you know something about a subject, and read a magazine article or Wikipedia about it, you always seem to find gross errors of fact. So yes, be careful about what Wiki says.

A ballet leader of the Joffrey Ballet died not too long ago. I went to Wiki to see what they said about him. Half of what they said was untrue as I know it. I knew this man as a young teenager when we were both in ballet school. I knew Robert Joffrey, who was in the same ballet school. It is possible
Wiki writers simply make things up.
Or it is, alternatively, possible that both Robert Joffrey and this other man, Jerry, who they said was his cousin, were lying to their fellow students as where they were born, their status as cousins, etc.

Is there truth anywhere that we can find?

So much untruth on the internet. I am not saying conspiracy theories about the coming anti-christ are false, I am saying how can I know which ones are false? Better to stick to your knitting and stop speculating. The AC can take care of his own matriculation.

I would be surprised if anyone responds to your comments. Most on this blog spend more time reading internet posts than the Scriptures. They are too busy fighting off the NEW AGE instead making sure that they are "in the faith".

What other blogs do you follow? Maybe I can look you up and dialogue there with you. This blog is only for NEW AGE.

Anyone of any religion is welcome to join the fight and if anyone tries to warn them that they are in danger of hell for not putting their faith in Christ, they are to be ignored.

Notice the gospel is not a concern except for a few posters.

Thanks for your comments about Daniel. It is refreshing to see someone focusing on the Scripture. A breath of fresh air.

  50. To Sharon in NZ: I have yet to read your comment as I started from the bottom up, but PLEASE LET ME CORRECT THE RECORD. This blog is not only for NEW AGE, although "NEW AGE" is important. I discovered the New Age Movement in looking at obvious apostasies to the Christian faith. Then I discovered that Jews and Moslems were also New Age targets. I most certainly am concerned about faith issues. We do have differences of opinions on this blog. If you want to email me privately, it is "cumbey@gmail.com."

As for the purposes of my blog, it is stated at the top:

"News and views of Constance Cumbey concerning "Radical Middle", New Age Movement, Communitarianism, "planetary humanism," "global governance," European Union, Javier Solana, Jeremy Rifkin, "New Age Politics," law in the USA, combined with life in general -- sometimes humorous, sometimes not!"

I had a former career in political life at the appointive levels and was active. That was part of what helped me discover the New Age Movement. I have been an attorney since 1975.

Thank you for participating -- don't let them scare you off.

    The Gospel Message:

    John 12

47“As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. 48There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. 49For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. 50I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say

Place your faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ before it is too late.

If you do not repent and turn to God by faith in the work of Christ on the cross, you will die in your sins and you will be judged for rejecting the perfect sacrafice of Jesus Christ for sin.

All the credentials and worldly knowlege man has will not benefit him or her when you stand before the Holy God.

The good news is that you cannot live the life that God requires, but Jesus did it for you and paid the pentalty for sin on your behalf. If you choose to stand before God in your own power and on your own merit, you will be condemned.

    Constance,

Given Islam's estachology, against Jews and Christians. I am not sure how Monotheistic they truly are.

    Muslim Book 001, Number 0289:

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger or Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: I swear by Allah that the son of Mary will certainly descend as a just judge and he would definitely break the cross, and kill swine and abolish Jizya and would leave the young she-camel and no one would endeavour to (collect Zakat on it). Spite, mutual hatred and jealousy against one another will certainly disappear and when he summons people to accept wealth, not even one would do so.

'And there is none Of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) But must believe in him (i.e Jesus as an Apostle of Allah and a human being) Before his death. And on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness Against them." (4.159) (See Fateh Al Bari, Page 302 Vol 7)

  58. To "Down Under in New Zealand":

    Reading from the KJV:

"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make IT desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

I'm not sure any of us know the full meaning -- as I have often said, "time and events will tell."

I agree that it may be a false assumption about a time of peace. In fact, the portion of the prophecy "and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary . . . and until the end of the war desolations are determined" may well suggest there will not be.

The "confirm the covenant with many for one week" could possibly (but I am not conclusively sure -- TIME AND EVENTS WILL TELL) refer to the ENP (European Neighbourhood Policy) 7 year confirmation and strengthening of the earlier Barcelona Treaty that was negotiated by Javier Solana and signed by 27 nations including Israel on November 28, 1995. On November 20, 1995, the European Union and its Dr. Solana entered into the Treaty of Association with Israel. Its new period of existence, as I currently understand it was also to run from January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2013 with a mid-term review to take place in 2010.

2010 is also the year the Alliance of Civilizations machinery was to be in place as well as the European battlegroups. Tensions have clearly been increasing between the EU and Israel. If Israel balks at the EU/UN "Peace Plan" Javier Solana is attempting to impose upon them, things could be VERY DICEY by mid 2010.

    Stay tuned!

I find the definition of religion spot on!

    "Name it Claim it"

    "Your best life yet"

    "Purpose driven" (how else?)

    "Hour of Power"

Denominations are nothing more than religious franchises.

Come out from her, read the bible and let the Holy Spirits counsel guide you and above all love and have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

Find out what % your tithe is overhead for the franchise you go to and remember they are tax free entities. Hilarious! Tithe is giving everything! Think about what your 400-1,000 dollars a month would do if you simply set it aside and when you knew of someone in need you bought them groceries or paid their electric bill for the YEAR! We need to look out for orphans and widows if you want to get religious. Not looking out for the pastors new car or finished basement!

I've never read about peace either, but just like cutting the ham on both ends before putting it into the oven, we all seem to follow older interpretations of men who are, well frankly- men. they put their own spin on the meanings and it is followed suit for every generation after. An accord is an agreement, but not necessarily of peace.

Secret Plan To Harvest Personal Data From Social Networking Websites

    http://nlpc.org/print/2508

    excerpt:
In the course of investigating procurement by the White House New Media office, NLPC discovered a 51-page solicitation of bids that was filed on Friday, August 21, 2009. Filed as Solicitation # WHO-S-09-0003, it is posted [1] at FedBizzOps.com. Click here to download a 51-page pdf of the solicitation [2].
While the solicitation specifies a 12-month contract, it allows for seven one-year extensions. It specifies no dollar cap. Other troubling issues include:

extremely broad secrecy terms preventing the vendor from disclosing to the public or the media what information is being captured and archived (page 7, “Restriction Against Disclosure”)
wholesale capturing of comments by non-White House staff on publicly accessible sites
capturing of content of any type (text, graphics, audio, or video)
capturing of comments by both Obama critics and supporters, with no restriction as to how the White House would use the information.

    sarah,

but were/are they not always saying that THAT is what they want, "Peace and Safety"? It could easily mean, "Brothers, let us make peace and have safety." Which is what they are always saying and "moving" towards, but do you really think that Islam will have peace with "dogs" and "pigs"? The covenant could be anything down to oil and food supplies, not necessarily peace. I'm no expert, and have faith that Jesus will be coming any instant... isn't that what all the disciples thought, ie. he is coming soon/quickly? We think we are so smart as we see earthquakes, but Jesus called us foolish for knowing the seasons, but not knowing what was/is at hand. Some of us say we are waiting for Jesus and then talk of rapture. I don't care a hoot about the rapture. I want Jesus and I hope he knows me! The rumblings of earthquakes have increased and decreased, we've seen famines/plagues/wars/rumors of war/kings raising and falling. He could come any moment and I think that is what I read in the NT. Not 'Today President ------- has mediated the peace agreement between Isreal and...' Which could or could not be THE covenant.

While catching up on my reading here I happened to notice your question and didn't want it to get lost in the shuffle.

To just briefly answer your question:

    MAX PLANCK

Max Planck (April 23, 1858 – October 4, 1947) was a German physicist. He is considered to be the founder of the quantum theory, and thus one of the most important physicists of the twentieth century. Planck was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918....read entire article.....

    Revised February 18, 2001.

....Max Planck was to become the most influential scientist in Germany. For 26 years (1912-1938) he was permanent secretary of the mathematics and physics sections of the Prussian Academy of Sciences. It was Planck who brought Albert Einstein to Berlin in 1914. Planck, who was awarded the 1918 Nobel Prize in Physics for his 1900 discovery, became the president of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society (1930-1937), the prestigious and influential organization established in 1911 by the German government and industry for the promotion of research.

After World War II the Kaiser-Wilhelm Society asked the aged Planck to again undertake the presidency of what had become a badly damaged organization. Planck also agreed to allow the Kaiser-Wilhelm Society to take on his name; thus today's Max Planck Society which assumed its new name in 1948, one year after Planck's death at age 89.....

.....Planck was admired not only as a great scientist but also as a moral and courageous individual. He criticized Hitler's racial policies to Hitler's face. Rather than flee Germany Planck remained in an attempt to salvage what was left of German physical sciences. And in the 9th decade of his life he agreed to again become president of Germany's preeminent research organization.

....While Planck the person is regarded with honor the same cannot be said of the organization that continues to bear his name.....

.... The international esteem of the Kaiser Wilhelm institutes is reflected in the support it received from the Rockefeller Foundation. The Rockefeller Foundation made major contributions to the construction of the Kaiser Wilhelm institutes of brain research (Berlin-Buch) and psychiatry (Munich). It also provided financial support to other Kaiser-Wilhelm institutes adversely affected by World War I and the ensuing depression. In addition to capital funding for construction the Rockefeller Foundation supported research at the Munich psychiatric institute and twin research at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Anthropology, Human Genetics and Eugenics at Berlin-Dahlem.

Ironically, the three Kaiser-Wilhelm institutes that were beneficiaries of Rockefeller largesse were to eventually play important roles in the development, implementation and exploitation of the racial programs of the Third Reich including murderous experiments and the exploitation of the dead. Kaiser-Wilhelm scientists joined with the Nazi state in pursuit of the goal of improving the people's health (Volksgesundheit), the major emphasis being on eugenic and racial purification. The resulting collaboration between science and the Nazi state not only legitimized the policies and programs of the Hitler regime it resulted in the exploitation and mutilation and murder of untold thousands of innocent victims by physicians and scientists associated with some of the world's leading universities and research institutes. The participation of scientists associated with the Kaiser-Wilhelm Society enhanced the credibility of the Nazi state's program of scientific terror and murder.

I am most interested in the temple being at the centre of the final week in Jerusalem and the high probability that in order to get temple sacrifice going again the Jews will agree to almost anything with whomever - Solana/Obama? The covenant mentioned in Daniel 9:27 therefore would be the permission in the eyes of the world to instigate this most desirable thing for them. Sir Isaac Newton believed this from all his studies on the subject - he was much exercised in this area!

  81. It seems that we should take some critical analysis of the "peace and safety" passage of 1 Thessalonians 5:3-7. To understand the "who" is saying peace and safety, look at the contrast he gives. For when "they" shall be saying peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon "them" as labor pains come upon a woman in childbirth, and "they" shall not escape. But "you" bretheren are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief.

The people who are saying peace and safety are only the ones who must be contrasted against the bretheren.

The "when" of this passage is directly before the day of the Lord, as it is "that day" which will overtake those who are saying Peace and Safety.

Scrolling down to verse 9 of that same chapter, you can see he is aligning "wrath" with "the day of the Lord" a few verses up, so we can assume only that the Day of the Lord begins the wrath, which should overtake those who are saying "Peace and Safety".

I make good use of charts to align, compare and contrast all of these kinds of scriptures and when you do, the pieces fall nicely into place. Highlighting the who, what, when, where, why and How, and investigating the text will really answer many of these questions.

I had come to much the same conclusion about the Daniel passage when I did that too. There is NO indication that peace will be the terms of that covenant. It doesn't mean that it won't be, but we shouldn't insert anything into the scripture that is not there.

    Have a nice evening everyone,

I was also looking at the Thessalonians passage Leana and have had the understanding that the people saying "peace and saftey" are those who are trying to get Israel to accommodate things - rather like today! But then when they least expect it destruction comes on them (those saying "peace and saftey"). This however does not imply that a 7 year covenant of peace is made!
Yes the Day of the Lord will overtake those who are working against Israel, His people, though Israel will be heavily damaged in it. No wonder they cry out to their Messiah to rescue them!

    Leana,

Your comment could nearly have been mine! I've been studying the Book of Revelation in earnest of late; and, I've put up a timeline placing each passage (Revelation is NOT in chronological sequence) on it. I've still got a long way to go; but, I've started using the Abomination of Desolation in the middle of the seven year period (the 'great tribulation' does not necessarily encompass the entire seventieth seven).

Exactly. And, I believe verse 4 tells us the approximate timing of the Rapture. We are not to know 'the day or the hour' [Matt 24:36] but we can discern the 'season' [Matthew 24:32-33].

I see trumpets 5, 6 and 7 as 'woes' rather than 'wrath' like the vials. For this reason, I see the Rapture at the seventh trumpet by taking the 1 Thessalonians passage including 4:13-17, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 and Matthew 24:31 [note the words "trumpet" "last trumpet" "mystery"].

I see the "There will be no more delay" [NIV] of Rev 10:6 as answering Rev 6:11 ("How long...?") and Rev 10:7, "But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet [see Rev 11:13], the mystery of God will be accomplished..."

I see the "peace and safety" as occurring during the "three and a half days" the two witnesses in Rev 11 are lying dead. Then in verse 12, the "loud voice from heaven" says "Come up here" while "their enemies looked on" I see as a 'pre-Rapture' with the seventh trumpet as the Rapture ["The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven which said: 'The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord...'].

  84. Since scripture doesn't exactly say WHY they are saying Peace and Safety, I tend to leave that alone. Just noting that is what they say... however I did look up in my Greek-English interlinear Bible and noted that the passage was literally translated "peace and security" safety/security being the greek word asphaleia meaning : state of security from falling, firmness, safety, security, certainty, truth.

I am using the Zondervan Greek English Interlinear New Testament NASB/NIV with a Goodrick-Kohlenberger dictionary. I have also cross-referenced with Strongs and it seems to agree. It should be Peace and Security.

Craig, it is always profitable to study what the book of Revelation says, especially since we are given a blessing for reading, hearing and heeding the words of that book. I spent 1 year in Thessalonians, 1 year in Daniel and 2 studying Revelation. I think I have more questions than answers, but my only advice is to look at it like a logic puzzle. Make sure you first identify what it explicitly says and does not say, then work toward your inferrances. If you jump to conclusions too soon, there is a danger of throwing the whole thing off.

    Have fun!

  85. The New York Times had a lengthy story about Senator Ted Kennedy's memoirs today. The book will not be out until September 14th, but from what was reported in the article, he was not joking about the event or significant portions of his life for which he expressed deep remorse. I will endeavor to obtain the book when available and read in more depth there. The NYT reported that he believed the Chappaquidick incident had shortened his father's life. He denied a romantic relationship with Miss Kopechne, an aide to his brother Robert.

He appeared to intensely dislike Jimmy Carter. He personally liked Ronald Reagan much more, but said sometimes Reagan had trouble focusing at White House meetings.

The book should at least make for interesting reading.

Bank Of America Asks Armless Man For Thumbprint, Then Denies To Cash His Check

All Steve Valdez wanted to do was cash a check from his wife during his work break. Bank of America insisted that Mr. Valdez provide a thumbprint to verify his identity, which he was unable to do because he was born with no arms. Despite the bank teller acknowledging this, and Mr. Valdez providing two forms of photo identification, the bank still refused to cash his check.

The bank eventually called Mr. Valdez to apologize.

    From The Post Chronicle (09/03/09)

Why Won’t Healthcare Workers Take The Swine Flu Vaccine?

Can vaccinations actually fuel pandemics? According to a study released August 26, 2009 by the British Medical Journal, more than half of Hong Kong’s healthcare workers surveyed said they would refuse the H1N1 shot, which is not yet available, because they are afraid of side effects and doubt how safe and effective it will be.

More importantly, the study suggested the trend would be repeated worldwide.

“The truth is that vaccines aren’t effective, generally carry dangerous side effects, and in many cases actually fuel the spread of pandemics,” said Dr. Leonard Horowitz, a Harvard University trained medical researcher who also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health. “The fact is that most healthcare workers know this, and they don’t trust that any swine flu vaccine will do anything but cause more problems and potential harm to the patients they care for.”

I've been reading Dr. David Jeremiah's book The Handwriting on the Wall about the Book of Daniel. He shares your view regarding a treaty for reestablishing sacrifices as the 7 year 'covenant with many.' Coincidentally, I just came across this section in the book at lunch today.

A group of British physicians specializing in palliative and end of life care has sounded the alarm that some terminally ill patients are being killed under an ethics protocol recently approved by the country's health care rationing body. Patients in Britain are being misdiagnosed as "close to death" and sedated and dehydrated to death the doctors said in a letter to the Daily Telegraph this week.

    Anon @ 8:32,

Thanks for the head's up. I wasn't totally unaware of his questionable teachings -- I was aware of some of his promotion of contemplative spirituality -- however, I wasn't aware that he endorsed Rick Warren and Eugene Peterson (who is a fan of Richard Foster's). It's sad as there are a LOT of seemingly solid theologians who are getting off track.

I always judge what anyone says by the Word of God. There is almost always something I will disagree with from any teacher/preacher. Jeremiah is not my favorite teacher by any means; however, I was told the book was a good overview of the Book of Daniel. So far, it's pretty good (although I'm not a big fan of his writing style).

TRANSSEXUAL KILLER WINS BATTLE TO SERVE LIFE SENTENCE IN WOMEN'S JAIL

....But today Judge Elvin ruled that the Justice Department’s refusal to transfer her to a women's jail amounted to a violation of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which enshrines the right to respect for privacy.

Regardless of any extra cost involved, the judge said that to block her progress towards full gender reassignment surgery was irrational and would only increase her risk to the public.

After the judge’s ruling, Miss Kaufman told the judge that the woman is now expected to be moved to a women's jail within a few weeks.

Well, I'll look at it at interest. I was always somewhat intrigued by his book on the New Age movement where he claimed he was such a prophet because he started warning against it in 1993. My book which I started in 1981 was eventually released after much opposition in 1983. Although I had relatives he attended his church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I have never heard from him. But I'm happy he is on the case.

  105. Friday I was in East Lansing, Michigan, at the MSU School of Law (which used to be DETROIT COLLEGE OF LAW), my alma mater, judging a legal advocacy contest between several law schools. I was honored to be invited to be one of the judges. It was fun, I will admit, to wear a black robe and be called "Judge Cumbey" for a day. As vigorous as I am as an "activist lawyer" which Wikipedia calls me, I probably would be uncomfortable as a real judge. That would silence me publicly on most issues.
