Dear Readers:
Because of pertinent questions I received on my comment section tonight, I am republishing this article which I originally published in April 2005. It is also easily found on a google or Yahoo search. It is originally found at http://cumbey.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
I want to caution that there are good, sincere people doing excellent work at these same agencies, and much of their work is necessary, but the battle has been long, difficult, and insidious and I think people are entitled to know. After this "Denver Disinformation Conference" there were other efforts of which I became finally aware in 2006 to shut me out of my own work, excluding me from the "Discernment circles." As Tal Brooke and Jacob Prasch played prominent roles in part of that along with others even too painful for me to mention, but Tal Brooke's and Jacob Prasch's roles were public, I name them here. There are others I am keeping to myself.
Sincerely,
Constance E. Cumbey
Wolves in Sheep's Clothing? The 'Evangelical' Struggle to keep you from the truth
Equipping the Saints? Or Disarming them? You be the judge!
There have been enormous efforts and huge sums of money spent to keep the Christian world from knowing the size and extent of the New Age Movement and its growing powers. I have kept silent most of the time on most of what I know not because I wanted to keep people from the truth, but because of Jesus' clear warnings that the wheat and the tares would grow together until the time of the end and to do nothing about the tares because in pulling up the tares, one might also harm the wheat. It is only when I see the wheat itself harmed that I speak out. I believe for people to now know what is coming, that they know how insidious this battle has been.
When I started my work against the New Age Movement in 1981, I thought it would be very simple -- Christian vs. Lions. It wasn't quite that easy. Some of who I believed were US were either apathetic or THEM. Some of THEM repented and became staunchly US. Some of the lengths gone to suppress -- even blackball me and my work -- were truly amazing. A Seattle, Washington Christian (Logos Bookstore) was selling many New Age books on its shelves. My book, THE HIDDEN DANGERS OF THE RAINBOW, then a #1 best seller on the Christian best seller list, was sold under the counter. It was packaged in a plain brown paper wrapper, stapled shut with a critical article on my work from Christianity Today inside. Matthew Fox authored (a Catholic apostate theologian, later removed by the new pope as Cardinal Ratzinger acting in his position as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) books were sold very openly.
I was asked to participate in a conference for Evangelical Ministries to New Religions at El Toro, California in December 1983. This was a time immediately after my father's death and I have detailed some of this in my second book, A PLANNED DECEPTION. In El Toro, I was asked to present my proofs on the existence of the New Age Movement. The panel behind me who was to comment on my work included CRI's Eliot Miller; Cornerstone Magazine's Eric Pement; Brooke Alexander of Spiritual Counterfeits Project; and Dave Hunt, who I then believed to be my ally.
In my main talk, I detailed the inroads Jeremy Rifkin had made in evangelizing evangelicals to the environmental paradigm shift of the New Age Movement. The question and answer period was truly amazing. I had no idea what would be thrown at me. I had packed one large book bag and it accompanied me that evening. Time after time I was accused both by members of the panel and members of the inquisitorial audience of taking the New Agers out of context. I would say, "well, let's read it together." I would pull the exact book from my briefcase.
That I had the proper books with me to defeat their claims of misquoting can only be attributed to either extreme luck or divine intervention. It was statistically impossible given a library of my size to have had it happen accidentally. Of course, I believe it to be the latter. I obviously had help!
The next major thrust against me was what I term the "Denver Disinformation Conference" which took place at the Denver Seminary on March 14-15, 1985 in Denver, Colorado. I was not invited. A few days before, a cult research by the first name of Hugh called me. He said he had called to register, left his credit card number with Dr. Gordon Lewis' secretary at the Denver Seminary. The Denver Seminary is a Conservative Baptist institution. Dr. Lewis was coordinating the conference. Dr. Vernon Grounds was the Chancellor. People from that seminary were to play a major role in a unity conference with New Age leaders in conjunction with Doug Coe in 1987, but this was 1985.
At any rate, Hugh, my caller, said that he asked the registrar, Dr. Lewis' secretary a natural question, given that this was the first recognition in the Evangelical world that the New Age Movement even existed outside of the imagination of yours truly. "Would Constance Cumbey be there?" He said that she replied as follows: "This conference was called on account of Constance Cumbey and we will have security guards present, just in case she decides to show up."
This was hard for me to take. I started crying. I said, "this time they've gone to a new low." My caller said, "you know, you could go anyway." I said, " no, I practiced law long enough to know that if they would go to those lengths, they would go even lower. They would trump [up] a disturbance and blame me for it. They would like nothing better than for me to be in a Denver jail -- I'm not going to give them the satisfaction."
God's timing is very interesting. I have never had anything like this happen without getting confirmation shortly thereafter. The very next morning I had a phone call from a man identifying himself as a producer for a Denver professor. That professor hosted a popular religion oriented talk show on Denver radio each and every Sunday morning. He said that they had planned to give the time for the Sunday program immediately following the confernce to a participant -- hopefully Ronald Enroth. He went on to say, that he [the producer] and the talk show host professor had been talking. They wondered out loud why at last there was an Evangelical conference on the existence of something that had been long denied -- and that the most recognized Evangelical figure on the subject was not a part of the conference. I recounted something unpleasant that had happened to me concerning Ronald Enroth. Then I told him what I had just heard the night before -- about the security guards."Why I know the person in charge of security," exclaimed the producer. His name is Mark Roggeman and he's a local policeman. Let's get him in on this conversation."
Mark Roggeman joined the conversation in what became a three way conference call. He told me a most amazing story. Mark Roggeman was a Denver policeman who then and now was working on cult related issues. He was and is a staunch Christian. He said he was thrilled that after three years of denial, that finally there was Evangelical recognition of a New Age Movement problem. He heard they were seeking a Security Director and applied for the job.
He said that upon his hiring he was summoned into Gordon Lewis office. Dr. Lewis told him his first, foremost and primary responsibility was to escort Constance Cumbey off the grounds, "should she show up." Mark told me he said to Lewis, "that's how the cults operate." Lewis told him, "you want the job, that's the condition." Roggeman told me he decided to stick around and see what else they had up their collective sleeves.
"What else" included Dr. Gordon Melton, a rabid New Age follower in nearly all of its forms, including vampirism and Ramtha the 35,000 year old man deliver a paper, "A Christian Response to the Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow." He was wearing an ankh and selling his paper promoting astrology on the grounds.
I was offered radio time -- two national interviews -- on the Marlin Maddoux Show on the two days immediately preceding the conference. I gave the doings and their security guards more free advertising than they ever expected. I understand they ran around red faced saying it had not happened -- but it clearly happened.I say all of this now because Gretchen Passantino published prominently on the web, a paper on urban legends. She includes as one "urban legend" the security guard story. I'm sorry to say it but Gretchen Passantino was close enough to the action on this gang to know better. It is bluntly -- a lie!

Maybe I'm heading in the wrong direction here but their very own words in the "Personal Integrity" section states:
ReplyDelete"Cult apologetics is by nature a profession where individual integrity is often questioned and challenged. You cannot afford to be slain by the same SWORD you wield against the cult leaders and occultists.
... But you must be honest and above board where your personal integrity is concerned or you will have none.
... Maybe an appropriate step to take is to reconcile with someone you wronged years ago.
...There is a high cost for integrity. But there is also nothing more valuable."
I'd say Mark Roggeman the Denver policeman is your SWORD to wield here. ~ Shalom
I just took a quick look at Yahoo v. Google hits on Javier Solana. It looks like Yahoo has become the more respected and reliable search engine.
ReplyDeleteYahoo: 1-10 of 9,540,000 for " Javier Solana
Google: 1 - 10 of about 1,120,000 for "Javier Solana".
Perhaps this should have been emailed to Constance alone, but I choose the public forum ….
ReplyDeleteOne way God works is to use -- work through -- people, obedient servants for His glory.
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, and eternally a child of God, and servant for His glory because of Constance Cumbey's submission to Him!
My wife is taking a church class which includes reflecting on her past. Part of that effort is recalling specific past details. She was talking with me about how I became a Christian first, primarily from hearing Constance Cumbey on Southwest Radio Church in 1983 or '84 -- even I don't recall specifically -- and there is seen here the mysterious function of many members: the Holy Spirit, the local radio station, Southwest Radio Church, and Constance. I mentioned to my wife that I still check Constance's blog site daily. My wife asked if I ever told Constance of her role in my salvation. Such a simple, direct question made my omission seem obviously neglectful -- but we can trust God for both vengeance and reward! Even this present statement of facts is not reward.
My wife and I were both lost – such as is the common condition of humanity. We were both attending weekly self-hypnosis lectures given by someone who made some fantastic claims. The Holy Spirit was active even there, and through awareness of the effect of messages input into my mind, I was convicted to break my addiction to rock music. There was a bus bench on the corner, advertising for a radio station, that said, “Beautiful Sounds”. I tuned in. It was a religious talk radio station.
At first, I thought, “The Bible supports what I’m hearing in the hypnosis lectures: ‘If I have sufficient faith, I can move a mountain’.”
Then I heard Constance on SWRC talking about what I was involved in, but saying that it was unbiblical, ungodly.
I was hit with a contradiction. I looked for the truth; I researched. I ordered a lot of SWRC resources: cassettes, transcripts, books. I read a lot of books, including the Bible, both of Constance’s, Johanna Michaelsen, Dave Hunt, as well as Marilyn Ferguson and Alice Bailey. I found the truth: Jesus Christ – through the former group, rather than the latter.
At first, I was a Constance wannabe; I wanted to write and lecture concerning the dangers of the New Age movement, but God did not allow that.
My wife and I left a church soon thereafter when they were advertising training in self-hypnosis – the Pastor was a board member at a mental health clinic offering the training. I had just left such training, so I got my books together and met with the Pastor, who subsequently invited me to leave the church. That pastor later had a mental breakdown, left the ministry, and now owns a liquor store. I don’t glory in that – it’s just facts.
I used to attend the public recruitment meetings for Silva Mind Control given in my city by a Catholic priest. During question time, I’d alert the audience concerning the spiritual dangers of the program. I have no idea if I had any effect on anyone; I felt rather oddly out of place.
Our original hypnosis lecturer not only turned out to be a proven liar, but he died as a prisoner of the government for attempting to hypnotize someone to perform murder for hire. I don’t glory in that – it’s just more facts.
I just want to say my initial “Thanks!” to Constance, and provide this undeniable witness. And I cannot even believe that I am the only one ….

Gretchen Passentino knows exatly what she is doing -- we have talked in past-- to the best of my present knowledge, she is totally unrepentant. I pray this changes. Gretchen has said much more about me than me about her. I do have a right to defend my name and she has a Christian duty not to falsely defame it. Yes, I have talked with Gretchen Passentino, but not since she published that set of lies about the "urban legends," which interestingly also appeared to depart from the internet for viewing after I wrote this article which I republished yesterday.

ReplyDeleteConstance,
As I read this post, and noted the date when you first made it, I remembered hearing one of your broadcasts about it, and it was not long after it occurred. Was an "Ah Hah" flashback moment. Made me very thankful for your perseverance. Whenever you relate one of these, and you have had many, I am always astonished how they compare to enlightening scriptural principles that teach us what's in store for us as we engage the battle of those who oppose Christ. With much delight I think of them as "rubber meeting the road moments" that we must all share in common in our respective lives in His service.
Here are just 2 examples of what jumped out at me in some scripture reading after viewing your post:
"2 Preach the word; be instant, in season and out of season; improve, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not suffer wholesome doctrine; but having their ears itching, shall after their own lusts get them a heap of teachers,
4 And shall turn their ears from the truth, and shall be given unto fables." 2 Tim 4:2-4
Constance it is most refreshing and encouraging that you have remained faithful and consistent to the cause of Christ all these years. I know it isn't easy. For those of us that remain vigilant to pursue the truth and serve Christ your long credible, consistent effort to provide useful accurate information, is nothing short of inspirational. Those of us that have " walked a mile in your shoes" know full well the intensity of the opposition's dedication to silence the messengers who would shed light on their wicked, evil agenda. Thank you for the reminder in the form of this post, it is a sobering refresher course, a helpful recap on where we've come from, and where things are going. My hope is you find comfort in knowing there are those of us out here, that don't post often, however we are here, appreciate you and your efforts, and are thankful for the forum and the information it provides us. This is not to overlook others who have cooperative blogs, websites, and valuable posts from their own research, i.e. Dorothy, Farmer, Rich, and many more.
A thankful attitude amongst us is foundational to our efforts to engage the onslaught of the evil, wicked ways of those who oppose the truth of our God, it is one provision of His for our weariness in the battle.
"13 But we ought to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because that God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and the faith of truth,
14 Whereunto he called you by our Gospel, to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and keep the instructions, which ye have been taught, either by word, or by our Epistle.
16 Now the same Jesus Christ our Lord, and our God even the Father which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every word and good work." 2 Thes. 2:13-17
Many thanks to all of you for your contributions, and dedication to the truth. Keep on keeping on!!!
HK
Dear HK,
ReplyDeleteThanks ever so much for the encouragement. You don't know how much I needed it today.
Sincerely,

I kinda figured this was the case but had to ask.
ReplyDeleteEspecially since AIA claimed to be of utmost integrity with their apologetic research directives here, as I quoted.
Obviously a bunch of hypocritical statements. I'll pray for her too re: conviction of the Spirit and repentance. I just had to ask you Constance, it does show that they are not "honost and above board" nor are they willing to pay the "high cost" and "reconcile the wrong" because they don't have the personal integrity they appear to claim they have. Appreciate the time. ~ Shalom
Constance - You are an inspiration to many Christians and a testimony of what following Christ might entail. I think of your persecutions and would like to encourage you to remember the B-attitudes that Jesus spoke of in the Bible. Thank you for sharing your experiences with many. I haven't met you but know you are a remarkable lady. Keep on keeping on. May God continue to bless and annoint you. You are like the servant with 5 talents that has doubled them for the Lord. To whom much is trusted much is required (you are a picture of how leadership should present themselves). Thank you for being obedient to God.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Constance for re-posting this information. Isn't it interesting how, the Lord Himself, as current events unfold, is able to silence our enemies. Those whom the Lord chooses to elist as watchmen, those who respond to His prompting to sound the alarm, rarely receive a warm welcome from their hearers. Hebrews 11 reminds readers of the "substance" and "evidence" of a faith that is LIVED without compromise. On the last page of the Preface to "The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow" (page 18), Constance wrote,
ReplyDelete"What will be difficult to fully convey is the sense of mounting horror I found while piecing this multitude of data together." and concludes, "The purpose of this book is to inform the unsuspecting of the events that may lie immediately ahead and of the persons and organizations helping to manipulate them. More importantly, it is about "strengthening the weak hands and confirming the feeble knees," with the help of God so that we "might be counted worthy" to stand the things that must come upon the earth if all is to be fulfilled as written."
I'm thankful to the Lord that He saw fit to appoint watchmen, and grateful to those who heard His voice and obeyed. -Rudi
"If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;...
"...But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood." Ezekiel 33 vs. 3 & 6
Wow!!! That's awesome about God's provision with the books you had with you. It is amazing how much resistance there is to the truth, especially when it's so controversial. People don't want to see how divided the world is against Christ... but He said "he who does not gather me, scatters me abroad". As always, keep it up, Constance, your work is very encouraging and enlightening.
ReplyDeleteHello Constance,
ReplyDeleteI am new to blogging, but have been following Herb, you, farmer and Rich of Medford for awhile. I am thankful for your light in this darkness and focus and clarity. I would like to know more about this Rethink conference in Garden Grove. I smell a rat, and even emailed the Frank Pastore Show on KKLA since he is promoting this venue with many speakers with skewed doctrine. I have high regard and esteemed Frank Pastore as to what he stood for, I would think he would not advocate this venue, but he has not answered my email yet, but his staff said he would address it. I am troubled by this, (having a fraction of feelings, that you have felt much more intensely) about the scope of false teaching within our congregations. I may have to change radio stations (no where to go but secular) from KKLA. Can anyone enlighten me about this rethink venue? Am I being paranoid or discerning?
May God richly bless you my beloved
Hello Constance,

Vladimir Bukovsky "In 1992 I had unprecedented access to Politburo and Central Committee secret documents which have been classified, and still are even now, for 30 years. These documents show very clearly that the whole idea of turning the European common market into a federal state was agreed between the left-wing parties of Europe and Moscow as a joint project which [Soviet leader Mikhail] Gorbachev in 1988-89 called our “common European home.”
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDear Setterman,
ReplyDeleteWhen Barbara Marx Hubbard spoke in Seattle in 1988, the same speech in which she said that "now all the groups are merging and blending and coming together to do the one work," she also said this about Russia:
--In the Soviet Union the higher one is the more likely they are to be involved [in the New Age/occult]
--She personally was involved in the Soviet-American dialogue process.
BMH was also deeply involved in the Evangelical/New Age Movement dialogue process. Then I did not know about the Doug Coe/Paul N. Temple links, but they existed then as well as now.
I suspect that this was going on and contrary to the disinformation Christians were being fed by some of the "watchers," was being very consciously coordinated by "initiates" in occult mysteries.
It is interesting that the Bible referred to "Mystery Babylon which had corrupted all nations . . ."
The New Agers and their various occult predecessors have long referred to their teachings as "the mysteries . . ."
To All:
ReplyDeleteWatch with CAUTION the You Tube video I posted. I posted it before I was done watching it and I noticed at the end with dismay that they presented a key teaching that Alice Bailey said the world must accept for "The Reappearance of the Christ" [antichrist] that all was interconnected and interrelated. I don't know if whoever produced it watched the same developments with alarm that are also prophesied, not realizing they were biblically warned against, OR if this is a case where as the Bible also said, "sometimes the children of darkness have more light than the children of light," but the end blaming all on divisions caused by religion, etc. was a little more than disturbing to me!

One of my favorite books is The Gravedigger File, by Os Guinness, c. 1983. Written in a style reminiscent of C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters, “Operation Gravedigger” unveils the cunningly brilliant strategy of our adversary as he seeks to accomplish the subversion of the “modern church”.
ReplyDeleteThe devil understands that there are those whose faith in Christ Jesus is unshakable. According to the “files”, this group comprises as little (or as much) as ten percent of the so-called “modern church”. Although they are not yet perfect and can still get sidetracked, believers who diligently study the scriptures and derive their faith from a steadfast relationship through prayer and fellowship with Jesus Christ cannot be dislodged from the fold.
Guinness’ work provides details about the strategies employed by another segment within the church. Having a form of godliness but denying God’s power, many of these folks occupy esteemed positions of leadership within the Church while actually opposing Christ. Guinness describes the spiritual warfare being waged as coming from the edges in, a battle to keep non-believers from believing, but more pointedly, from within the Church itself over the majority of our brothers and sisters, who although they sit in church sanctuaries and call themselves “Christian”, are not yet fully committed to the cause of Christ.
Liberal theological training, peer pressure, infiltration, deception, intimidation and confusion are powerful weapons used to mitigate the influence of the truly faithful. For example, those who express misgivings when their own church begins sliding into “purpose driven” waters, can expect to be labeled “nay-sayers”, “dividers”, accused of “standing in the way” or “not discerning the will of God”.
Perhaps one of the most profound spiritual defenses the Church of Jesus Christ has, is denominationalism. The fracturing of the church into small communities has allowed enclaves of independent Christians to work out their faith while preserving the overall integrity of the gospel from the effects of wholesale ecumenism. Admittedly, divisions have fostered some degree of heresy here and there. However, it cannot be denied that small bands of Christians meeting together to discern the Word of God are not only able to hold each other accountable, but are much harder to target, infiltrate, and disable. And while we all see through a glass darkly, a myriad of small church fellowships allow us to use a host of different lenses to reveal the light of scripture in different ways. It is no coincidence that the underground church in China is continuing to grow at such an astonishing pace. Neither atheist communism nor organized persecution have been able to stall the spread of the gospel among our Chinese brethren as they continue to grow and meet in secret home churches across their land. Hallelujah!
However, the devil is not without a counter measure. His strategy is to bring together the “body of Christ” in large masses, so-called mega churches, binding “the faithful” together into one identifiable and controllable entity. Although politically very powerful, such a body quickly becomes focused almost exclusively on practical earthly goals, i.e. the AIDS crisis in Africa, Global Warming, etc. If not completely void of Christ, such a body quickly becomes lukewarm and open to manipulation by some charismatic leader using all of the tools previously mentioned.
Indeed, there are two opposing armies actively engaged in battle. To deny that fact is to deny every word of scripture. However, when it comes to securing the salvation or the damnation of an individual, let alone the entire world system, the battle belongs to our Lord. Our adversary knows his time is short, therefore we need to be diligent watchmen. This is not a battle using conventional weapons. We should examine ourselves closely before examining others, have patience with our brethren, resist the devil, and hold fast to our faith in Jesus Christ.
Above all, we need to use the greatest weapon we have been given, which is our love for each other and for our Savior.
Happy New Year!
Hi Setterman-
ReplyDeleteYour question ("How much money came from kind, blinded Christians to build?") got me thinking. Here is some further information. Last night I listened to Ingrid
Schlueter (WVCY and Slice of Laodicea blog) play a pre-recorded interview between Bill Dallas and herself.(Bill Dallas is President of Christian Communication Networks, one of the sponsors and founders of the upcoming Rethink Conference.) Halfway through the
interview she presses him for
answers, as to why the Crystal Cathedral was chose. He appears to be clueless as to why many
of us are concerned about the conference and Robert Shuller in particular. Following the Dallas interview she has a "live" interview with Warren Smith. Here is the link: http://www.crosstalkamerica.
CCN (Church Communication Network) is exactly what its name states. It is a "network" created to "to link churches around the country for leadership training and congregational events." Exploring the CCN website additional information.
http://www.ccn.tv/index.html
Included in the "about" tab (at the top) clicking on "Ministry Partner" reveals among "others" CCN is proud to partner with is "Alpha" the source of "The Alpha Course". Use a "Search" engine to discover more about "The Alpha Course"
After reading further this morning about CCN, I no longer believe the "feigned innocence" Bill Dallas presented in the interview with Ingrid. Yet, I acknowledge, God is the judge of his heart, and like many others, Christian and unbeliever alike, he has succumbed under the "spell" of the enemy. -Rudi
