MY 1995 PERSPECTIVE ON THE NEW WORLD RELIGION

THE NEW WORLD RELIGION?

Cleaning house and discovering my old papers and scribblings can sometimes be fun. I discovered the New Age Movement in 1981 and first started sounding alarms on it then. Between 1982 and 1989 it became my major occupation. In December, 1988, I returned to my former law practice, but still maintained my relentless examination of the New Age Movement and related religious apostasies. I noticed in 1994 that confusion, even among cult-watchers was growing. My now decesed good friend, , Liz Collins, urged me to compose a summary of what I then perceived. I did and gave it to her. I recently found a copy of it. I gave it to Liz Collins on December 12, 1994. That was when we were both busy fighting the Dr. Kevorkian/Euthanasia battles which are an important components of the "death and dying" ("Death, the Next Great Adventure") of the New Age Movement. I have decided to share it with NEWSWITHVIEWS.COM readers as well as my blogspot participants. Here it is and I will value your feedback. You are free to reprint it, but please give credit to its source, yours truly! Supplemental to , this is the concomitant development of a “global ethic” which is also being pursued by the New World Religion proponents, including but not limited to Dr. Hans Kung. Also to be considered are the obvious earth worship approaches being advanced to gain human consensus over “care for the Earth.” Also not as obvious to me when I wrote this was the increasing aggression of anti-clerical, atheistic forces, such as Richard Dawkins and Sam Harrison exemplify.

1. New Agers believe recognition of cults and their dangers, spiritual hunger, and conflict in the human family. See Alice Ann Bailey, THE REAPPEARANCE OF THE CHRIST, Chapter 6, pages 147-155.

2. They will then explore religious facts we can AGREE upon.

3. The fact of GOD will be universally agreed upon.

4. “Karma” and semantic various upon it will be increasingly expressed. In western religion it will be based upon “Whatsoever a man soweth, that will he also reap. (Galatians 1:7). This may be alternatively expressed as “the law of cause and effect”; “The Law of Reciprocity” (Pat Robertson); “The Law of Rebirth,” depending on beginning religious orientation and the presentation and/or presenter, i.e. the target audience.

5. CONTINUITY OF REVELATION will be stressed. This should be carefully considered in view of Catholic debates over SOLA SCRIPTURA and Protestant presentations of “BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT” and/or “WORDS OF KNOWLEDGE.” Traditional careful tests of what is and what is not of God will be largely abandoned in hunger for “NEW REVELATION,” “SIGNS AND WONDERS, etc., abandoning past caution and careful caution of all such claims.

6. Doctrine of AVATARS or continuing “saviors” will be tied in with stress upon spiritual hunger of man and man’s reaching out to God. Supposedly, God will respond with new messengers.

7. Man will be given an expectancy that another great REVELATION is on its way from an all caring God.

8. This new REVELATION will prove the “truth” of the IMMANENCY OF GOD (“God within”).

9. We will also be told that God is TRANSCENDENT. This is so we will look outside for NEW REVELATION. People who restrict themselves to Biblical verification and/or consistency (God can speak anytime, anywhere, but internal consistency is a test of authenticity -- the Holy Spirit never contradicts himself) will be increasingly marginalized – inside and outside the Church.

10. A SCIENCE of prayer and worship will be stressed. Cf. CONCERTS OF PRAYER for Evangelicals; “Centering Prayer” and “Renewal” for Catholics, Lutherans and Episcopalians; TRIANGLES, “Meditation Groups”, etc., for New Agers groups and activities such as “Triangles,” Praying will rough this is a belief in the establishment of THE KINGDOME OF GOD ON EARTH as be done according to a FORMULA and/or “altered state” process.

11. Hovering all through this is a belief in the establishment of THE KINGDOM OF GOD ON EARTH as “GOD REALIZED” peoples manifest “Christ,” “God,” “The Holy Spirit,” or their various New Age “walk-ins” inside themselves as they increasingly absorb all of the above.

12. Astrology will be HARMONIZED with the Bible and “Bible Study.” Historical investigation will “reveal” that actually it is a “Godly ting.” Cf. Prophecies in stone, some Protestant teachings that actually astrology stood for the twelve apostles,” “12 tribes of Israel, etc.”

13. Throughout all of this the watchwords will be DIALOGUE and UNDERSTANDING. There will be presentations through CROSS CULTURAL MINISTRIES, and the Missionary Process itself will be largely subverted in the interests of liberty to teach to indigenous peoples by stressing commonality with the native religions rather than a simple presentation of the Gospel.

14. CONNECTEDNESS and GROUP EXERCISES to make people feel CONNECTED will be increasingly stressed. Sometimes this will be done to “promote righteousness. In the New Age, the only “sin” is to be “the sin of separation.” Cf. Promisekeepers, eastern religions rites, “Native American Spiritualities,” and small group processes.

  1. Constance,

Along these lines, you might be interested in an interview of Jeremy Rifkin, where he talked about his book "The European Dream". In the interview at: http://www.vision.org/visionmedia/article.aspx?id=798, dated Fall of 2004, he mentions the need for the development of a sense of community, sort of an ethic of interdependency, where each of us as individuals realize our actions impact others positively or negatively. In Christianity, this would be considered the ethic of the Golden Rule and would include the stewardship of the earth. Rifkin says that empathy acts as a social glue, but can only come about through suffering. According to Rifkin, "... we'd have to have a code of enforcement. . . ."

  2. Constance, The summary you've posted today is amazing. What makes it amazing to me is realizing you wrote it approximately thirteen years ago. The Lord has blessed you with much wisdom and remarkable insight. Thanks for sharing it with us. Rudi

  3. Dear Eric,

I'm interested in anything Rifkin has written. He has been a MAJOR player on many fronts: Rewriting theology, New Age, Environmental, and strangely was a darling with Evangelical groups, including Spiritual Counterfeits Project and ETERNITY Magazine. He is now infuential (surprise, surprise, surprise) with Javier Solana and the European Union!

Re: your notes #13 and # 14... Need to make some distinctions about "cross cultural" missions work among "indigenous peoples." CC, without further comment your notes could be misconstrued to the detriment of the gospel. The need to avoid syncretism with paganism or false teachings is paramount, however the need to avoid cultural arrogance is of equal importance. For example, many languages do not have a "J" sound, but we English speaking peoples insist that "Jesus" (Greek) is the only name by which a person can be saved. Yet the first disciples called him, "Yeshua", because there is no "J" (GEE) sound in Hebrew or Aramaic. We argue over silly things, like the pronounciation of His name, while forgetting who He is and what He did. Again, we of European Christendom insist only certain musical instruments (or none at all) should be used for worship, and that others are of the "devil", or that pews should be arranged in rows and that worshipers should all sit like little soldiers...men on one side, women on the other... Clearly, cultural barriers need to be recognized for what they are, and overcome. There is no Jew, or Greek, or English, or Native American, we are all one in Christ Jesus (Yeshua Hama Shiach).

Indeed, look at what Pope Benedict is doing with his Catholic Reformation, renouncing "modernity" and returning the Church to "tradition", as if the times of St. Gregory and those "traditions" (like burning witches, Jews and Protestants at the stake!) developed in Europe during the middle ages were the ideal. Speaking of cultural snobbery, the only thing more "holy" about the middle ages is that the political power of the Catholic Church reached it's zenith, (I hope so, anyway). The traditions of men are but fodder for the fire.

constance -that is a great article--a person could be easily deceived if not grounded in the word. I believe many in the church are totally oblivious to how the new age teachings are infiltrating the church.

Re. Point #12, Constance, astrology could not deceive if it did not have a kernel of truth (ref. Gen. 1:14b; Luke 2:2, 2:7, 2:9, and 2:10. A well respected book on the topic is E.W. Bullinger's "The Witness of the Stars," available online at:

To James. The Pope is not involed in promoting a Catholic Reformation. The work of Vatican II was the renewal of the Church based on the reappraisal of the mission of the Catholic Church in the world of the mid 20th century. It was anything but medieval. The popes of the early 20th century railed against modernism, the expression of Enlightenment principals that created secular humanism. I believe your understanding of modernism is different than this as you expressed it. The term modernism belies its true definition.

Constance's analysis at the time was based on 14 years of solid, original research on the New Age movement. The changes that some are just seeing now were already in the works almost two decades ago. It's been interesting to watch how the changes have gone primarily one direction -- novelty. The changes haven't gone in the direction of bringing in more morality, self-discipline, and more respect for the history of Judaism or Christianity.

To Constance- while not neo-New Age as a concept, Capra's science and spiritulaity idea is now more complex and refined. It blends evolutionary biology principals with speculative physics using quantum (old idea) with newer theories of everything such as string theory. Why this is important is the actual impact this is having on these sciences as well as New Agers. The theories of non-locality are posited as non-expressed genetic potentialities in humans whose DNA will be altered using transhumanism to bring about the next evolutionary adaption and even a new human species. The birth of nanotechnology is also key to this understanding, but the current map of the human genome is not supporting much of their evolutionary hopes. I believe this has created an even heavier focus on the mind/brain mapping the New Agers so love which is old stuff for them (M. Ferguson did publish the mind-brain bulletin). Because of this heavy focus on cognition, the NA's control much of education reform, and are controlling the reform through global corporations like Pearson to shape every synapse of our childrens' brains to create adapted responses consistent with NA ideas. Unless the findings of the human genome begin to better support their racist ideals (unlikely), the focus will remain on mind/brain work and their plan to tinker with the human genome to create the Superhuman. I would agree with your list in general, but add the principals are more sophisticated today, less overt yet more
Mainstream. I like to use a list done by David Spangler about 18 months ago that he calls the four pillars of the New Age:transcendentalism, New Thought, evolutionary theories and physics, and eastern religions. Just about everything they write or say falls under this umbrella.

  13. Excellent observation of the pertinent Aquarian movement.

Astonishing to view since your initial discovery in the 80's.

I remember the crystal new age movement that infiltrated the tragically hip music scene of Dallas in Deep Ellum during the mid to late eighties.
I was told it was seeded through the Austin music scene then to Dallas.

I've added your 95' Perspective to my recent posting at my blogsite.

All Glory and Honor is to our Lord Jesus for His Love for us through revelation testifies to Him and Him only.

Thank you Constance for being obedient and courageous upon hearing and seeing what our Lord placed before you.

MT 13:9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

MT 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

MT 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

MT 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

MT 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

MT 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

MT 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

MT 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

MT 13:17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

  14. Fritjof Capra is a name familiar to me since the inception of my 1981 and continuing research. Interestingly, in addition to being a student of Osho/Rajneesh, Javier Solana's mother, Nieves de Madariaga Mathews, was in active correspondence with Capra.

Pope Pius X's encyclicals against modernism were fighting the same anti-Theosophical battle as those who were subsequently labeled "fundamentalists." Both were rightfully demanding truth in labeling and affirmance that Jesus was THE Christ, and battling notions of evolution.

Off topic as far as New Age, but on topic when it comes to learning how others can control information. Over at litlegreenfootballs I learned about a new techinique. It appears that at some websites like that of the San Francisco Chronicle you may post a comment that they don't want to carry. If you do, the comment will appear to you on your computer as if the comment had been posted. It does not appear in the comments section that other readers see. You may think you are being ignored, but in reality no one sees your comment. The only way you can check is to go through another browser after removing the cookie used to connect to the site. And here we thought the "memory hole" described in the book 1984 would never happen.

Too often columnists need to make a point in a short number of paragraphs. So we get messages such as UN Bad or UN Good without even knowing what is happening at the UN. Those who might be more knowledgeable on the topic then look at our input as strangely simplistic, feeling free to ignore our comments.

Today I came across a website that discusses UN activity in a way that even I can understand what some of the issues are, issues such problems with NGOs, corporate involvement at the UN, and a link to mega operations such as oneworld.org for instance. You won't find information on the New Age involvement, but you can put what you know about the topic into the framework, making it easier to explain to others how dogood ideas can be put into the New Age mold.

Here are some links to show that the website is not totally coming from the left.

  26. Constance,

I was wondering if you were familiar with Vishal Mangalwadi. I was introduced to the new age phenomenon when I heard him speak when I lived in Orange County, CA, circa the late 90's. One book that he wrote and that I purchased from him at his speaking engagement before a Christian group, entitled "When the New Age Gets Old: Looking for a Greater Spiritually", ISBN-10:0830817700, is available on www.amazon.com.

Mangalwadi is a solid Christian. I was introduced to his writings by Gene Veith who wrote Modern Fascism. Mangalwadi wrote about the Hindutva groups and how they are allied in thinking with the Nazi movement. The woman who has posted on the New Age movement over at Israel Forum tells me that Hindutva people support Israel.

She wrote: Dealing with Hindutva is a complex problem because depsite their New Age-Nazi connections, they are pro-Israel I sent her a link to this article which explains how that might happen.
