Introducing researcher par excellence, Dorothy Margraf

New woman on the blog
By Dorothy Margraf
Note from Constance Cumbey: Dorothy Margraf has been one of my most valued friends and co-researchers on the New Age Movement issues for nearly 24 years. Her insights are so valuable that I have long begged her to post to this board and have finally succeeded in getting her to put her foot in the water. I trust you will enjoy her work as much as I do and please welcome her aboard!
Thanks to the generosity of Connie, I've been invited to post to her blog which I will do occasionally. We have been friends for many years and have shared new areas of research as they come up. Up until now I've been adding my information as an anonymous in the comments section so as not to detract from the focus of this blog which is Connie's excellent work. This morning while looking for Solana news, I came across a new article which I felt was too important to just leave in a comment.
http://baerental.blogspot.com/2006/08/anti-israeli-in-european-parliament.htmlor http://tinyurl.com/ovqoaAntisemitism in the European UnionFrom this article: "Van Dam explains that among Israel's major enemies in the European Parliament are the communist and other leftist factions, now called the European United Left-Nordic Green Left (GUE-NGL). They have 42 of the 732 MEPs."

'Ecology' and the Modernization of Fascism in the German Ultra-rightwhere you will find

"An ecology that is mystical, in turn, may become a justification for a nationalism that is mystical. In the New Age milieu of today, with its affinities for ecology, the ultra-right may well find the mystical component it needs to make a truly updated, modernized authoritarian nationalism. As in Germany between the two world wars, antirational cults of the New Age -- primitivistic, esoteric -- abound in both the Federal Republic and the Anglo-American world."More here:
http://www.spunk.org/library/places/germany/sp001630/peter.htmlor http://tinyurl.com/kqux7Fascist Ecology:The "Green Wing" of the Nazi Party and its Historical AntecedentsPeter Staudenmaier"For all of these reasons, the slogan advanced by many contemporary Greens, "We are neither right nor left but up front," is historically naive and politically fatal. The necessary project of creating an emancipatory ecological politics demands an acute awareness and understanding of the legacy of classical ecofascism and its conceptual continuities with present-day environmental discourse. An 'ecological' orientation alone, outside of a critical social framework, is dangerously unstable. The record of fascist ecology shows that under the right conditions such an orientation can quickly lead to barbarism."Also noted in the first article is: "There are also about thirty-two independent MEPs among whom is Jean-Marie Le Pen, the French right-wing extremist. He is now a member of the Parliament's Israel delegation." (It has been noted that the French right-wing is not the same as the American right wing. I agree with this except that there are extremist right wing theorists who would feel right at home in France.)http://home.alphalink.com.au/~radnat/theories-right/theory1.htmlTo understand Le Pen's rather hidden ties with occult thinking, one must look to research on Nouvelle Droite, French for New Right.More on the European New Right: http://www.new-right.org/?cat=20Now this is a lot of reading, but to understand the changes taking place here, we need to look more carefully at their ongoing development in Europe.

  2. I usually don't like to add too many lengthy comments, but I received an e-mail from Lighthouse Trails Research Project about an upcoming story about Rick Warren on Fox News, Sunday night, August 20. This may be of some importance:

Every week I receive a copy of Rick Warren's e-newsletter that goes out to pastors and other church and ministry leaders around the world. And every week, I watch as this newsletter endorses, promotes, and exalts the names of people, books and organizations whose spirituality opposes biblical Christianity. In essence, this newsletter is like a slap in the face to those who, in years and centuries gone by, have died defending the true faith and the gospel message of Jesus Christ and did not compromise even unto their deaths.

In this week's newsletter, Rick Warren quotes Henri Nouwen, who, at the end of his life, said he was uncomfortable with those who say Jesus is the only way to salvation and that he wanted to help people find their own path to God. Nouwen is mentioned in nearly a dozen other newsletters by Rick Warren, and in one newsletter, Warren says his wife Kay loves the Nouwen book In the Name of Jesus, which has a chapter on contemplative prayer. In one week's newsletter, Warren devoted most of the issue to the emerging church, even posting a response to criticism by Emergent Leaders Brian McLaren, Doug Pagitt, Spencer Burke and Tony Jones. McLaren is favorably quoted or mentioned in about seven other issues. Organizations like The Ooze (promoting the emerging church, contemplative and New Age spirituality) is recommended in three issues. Spencer Burke, director of The Ooze, affirms his contemplative sympathies when he says:

I stopped reading from the approved evangelical reading list and began to distance myself from the evangelical agenda. I discovered new authors and new voices at the bookstore- Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen and St. Teresa of Avila. The more I read, the more intrigued I became. Contemplative spirituality seemed to open up a whole new way for me to understand and experience God. I was deeply moved by works like The Cloud of Unknowing, The Dark Night of the Soul and the Early Writings of the Desert Fathers."
The majority of Rick Warren's newsletters have at least one contemplative or emerging quote, endorsement or recommendation. Some of these weekly promotions include Youth Specialties, Leonard Sweet, Thomas Merton, Ken Blanchard, Laurie Beth Jones, Jim Wallis, and the list goes on and on. Basically, Rick Warren believes that contemplative/emerging spirituality is great and will lead many people closer to God!

This Sunday night, Fox news will be presenting a program called, "Can Rick Warren Change the World?" One Fox headline for this show said, "Can Rick Warren Save the World?" As church leaders and secular leaders alike have found themselves in awe of this man's Purpose Driven paradigm, I, as a believer in Jesus Christ, have been in awe too. But my amazement isn't over Rick Warren's plans to save the world; no, my amazement is over Christian leaders and their blindness to what is really taking place. They have been overtaken and lured by a seductive spirituality that calls itself Purpose Driven, emerging church, seeker-friendly and a number of other names but has its origin in the Garden of Eden when the serpent said, You will be like God.

Alice Bailey, the theosophist who coined the term New Age, said that the age of enlightenment (when everyone realizes they have divinity and are united with each other and creation) will not come to the earth around the Christian church but rather through it. When a New Age sympathizer like Leonard Sweet (author of Quantum Spirituality) can talk about global connectedness and God in all in one book then do an audio series with "America's pastor" just a few years later, and no one blinks an eye, then maybe Alice Bailey (who was instructed by her spirit guide)was right.

The Lord will preserve those who are His, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against the church, but the Bible also says that a great falling away will take place before the return of Christ, and if possible, even the elect will be deceived. May we, as believers, by the grace and strength of God, cling to that old rugged Cross that is offered so freely to those who call upon the name of the Lord. And may we stand boldly, as our brothers and sisters of past times did, defending the one message that can save.

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." Revelation 12:11

  3. That tells me more than anything else. Henri Nouwen's very last book (which I believe may have been compiled posthumously by his friends from his final writings) contained his recommended reading list. Noticeably on it was Matthew Fox's THE COSMIC CHRIST! Fox is as close to pure evil as I have ever encountered, perhaps even passing Benjamin Creme in scope and intensity. Fox was excommunicated as a Catholic priest in 1993.

  4. Interestingly, Rick Abanes, a member of Rick Warren's church began is public work supposedly as an expert on anti-Semitic issues, militia, Harry Potter, anti-New Age in 1995. That book made a very baseless attack on me. He has a recent book defending Rick Warren against New Age accusations. It is published by Harvest House (which was also Dave Hunt's publisher). I am thinking now that the agenda might have been far more insidious than even I previously suspected!

David, if you go to the Rick Warren site on Wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Warren
and then go to the bottom of the discussion page, you will find many, many critiques of Rick Warren. Apparently there are many people who have a problem with his views and one of them has done a big job of bringing many of their writings together. You should be able to print some of them up to give to others.

In just looking around I see that he is acceptable to the World Council of Churches as well as to the Aspen Institute, formerly called Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies.

It seems to me that with all of his Purpose Driven literature and trips, there must be a non-profit organization or a corporate structure behind him. Somehow I've missed catching the name of such. Do you know it? There are websites that deal with the finances of non-profits...

David, regarding your remarks above observing that things have come to the point that a known new ager can

"... do an audio series with "America's pastor" just a few years later, and no one blinks an eye, then maybe Alice Bailey (who was instructed by her spirit guide)was right.

The Lord will preserve those who are His, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against the church, but the Bible also says that a great falling away will take place before the return of Christ, and if possible, even the elect will be deceived."

I agree with these observations. What I am trying to warn people about is the heresy of Zionism. Constance has established that the New Agers are "anti-semitic". The thing I think so many evangelical and conservative Christians do not realize is that Zionism is also "anti-semitic". If the same kind of incisive research were to be done on the Zionist movement as has been done by Constance and others, it would become clear that Zionism is foreign to the work of God. For starters, it should be obvious to all that the Zionist conduct is outright and utterly contrary to the teachings of Jesus. But sadly, that is not enough for many professing Christians who still want to be enthusiastic supporters of this pernicious evil.
I know I am something of a voice in the wilderness on this, but I feel very strongly that the Church is being misled by false prophets (or teachers, pastors, or what have you). Some Lindseyesque advocates of Zionism are not evil minded, but simply take Zionism at face value, without bothering to educate themselves as to the roots of Zionism.

I want to put forth the following points for everyone's consideration. Unfortunately, it would require a very long post to go into detail on every point. I will have to leave it to each person think, research and seek the Holy Spirit for themselves on this. But my solemn warning to all is that Zionism is a deception, and is of the spirit of anti-christ.

    1. Jesus warned the last days would be times of great deceptions.

    2. In the Revelation the Lord refers to those who "say they are Jews, but are not, but are the synagogue of Satan." The house of Rothschild fits nicely into this description.

    3. The international banking family of Rothschild were primary proponents of Zionism from its inception. Funny, but these are the same occult elitists promoting the New Age. But they work quietly, very quietly from the shadows. The hexagram symbol of the State of Israel had nothing to do with David, but is regarded as a powerful symbol by those in the occult/ new age.

    3. Zionism is a "false flag" operation of the Enemy to distract and deceive and to create turmoil in the Middle East. The purposes the Enemy has for this are manifold, but let us remember that Jesus stated that the purposes of the Enemy are always to kill, to rob, and to destroy. It is primarily a secularist movement, and is disowned by much of the worlds sincerest Jews, who decry the villification Zionism and the State of Israel brings upon the name of Judaism. The State of Israel simply does NOT represent the true descendents of Jacob or their best interests. Actually, before the sinister movement of Zionism reared its ugly head in Palestine, there had already been some true Jews living there for a long time, and they lived in peace with their Arab neighbors. It wasn't until the Zionists came to Palestine, intent upon reliving the Old Testament conquest under Moses, dispossessing the Arabs whose ancestors had lived their for centuries, that trouble began. So again, Zionism is of the anti-christ spirit. It is actually at the heart and core of of the plans of the network of the Luciferian elitists intent on creating a new world order. This isn't to say they love the state of Israel. No, for they love nothing but themselves. The State of Israel is nothing but a tool to them - and Lucifer - for the setting up of their plans. Afterall, how else will he occupy Jerusalem and build a temple so that his incarnation can sit within it and claim to be 'God'? And I wonder - how many 'Christian' Zionist zealots, like John Hagee ( http://www.jhm.org/ ) will then fall completely under the anti-christ spell and worship the "man of sin" as the messiah he will claim to be?

    4. The real question is whether the Zionists are operating according to God's will or not. Now this is where we have to put on our thinking caps. Because how are we supposed to percieve the truth? Well, first we believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and that NO ONE comes unto the Father except through Him. Have the Zionists done this? Do they believe in Christ and follow his teachings? Well, the answer to that is obviously - NO and NO. Therefore, they must not be in a covenant relationship with God. If you say they are, I believe you make the testimony of Jesus into a lie. And that leads us to my final point.

    5. The ultimate purpose of Zionism may be to deceive the 'very elect', if that were possible. For years I was an ardent, erstwhile supporter of the State of Israel myself. So I know what the many Christian Zionist are thinking. It is rather simplistic really. Jumping on the Hal Lindsey bandwagon we are led to think is all so obvious that Israel is the literal fulfillment of end time prophecies. Therefore Israel, Zionism, and Judaism are all synonymous, and are all under God’s smiling graces and divine protection.

[ This is an extremely curious perspective to be held by those claiming to be disciples of Christ. Because the state of Israel is the one of the most anti-Christian places on earth. It is illegal to openly preach the gospel of Jesus. Furthermore, Israel has one of the lowest conversion rates of anywhere on earth. Let us cross-ref those conveniently disregarded circumstances with Jesus own teaching and instruction to his disciples: “If you go to a place and they will not receive you, then depart from them and shake off the dust of your feet as a testimony against them. Verily, I say unto you, it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for Sodom than for that city.” ]

Christian Zionists are excited to think the rapture will occur any minute, because Israel is now the heroic center of God’s epic end time saga, even now in the process of unfolding before our eyes.

I have to say, it now all appears as heresy to me. Even if I have to be the one to say, the Emperor Israel has no clothes. Not only are some clothes wanting, but he is so very very naked. He has no clothes from any angle. The only clothes he wears are those which are in the eyes of his deceived beholders. Even if you do think it possible for the Israelis to be in covenant with God, WITHOUT FAITH IN CHRIST – even if you have swallowed that camel, any claim of the State of Israel to be in good stead with God is still invalid. And it is invalid by the Old Testament scriptures venerated by the Jews. (I say Jews, because it is obvious Israel does not venerate them.) If you will read in Deuteronomy, you will find where Moses gave his final word of warning to the people going in to possess the Promised Land. This is found in Deuteronomy 30:16-20.

16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

    17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them

Now cross reference that by these words Jesus spoke to the Jews during his ministry: (John 5)

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

41 I receive not honour from men.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Remember Jesus also said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no one cometh unto the Father but by me.”

Will Jews be restored to a covenant relationship with God? I think so. When? Jesus told the Jews: "You will not see me again until you say "blessed is he that comes in name of the Lord."

The Jews have been cut off from relationship with God. They can be restored the same way any of the rest of mankind may be saved. By faith in the living Son of God who died for them. The Zionists are not in the Covenant. But they demand to possess the land anyway. They therefore are thieves who break in to kill, to rob, and to destroy. This nature has just been starkly demonstrated over the last few weeks in their vicious aggression against Lebanon.

Brothers Keeper Matthew 7 verses 1-5
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

I could only accept your premises if I were to disbelieve most of the Old Testament prophets (Daniel, Obadiah, Zechariah, Amos, etc.) I would also have to cut Romans, Chapter 2 out of the New Testament portion of the Bible.

    Brothers Keepers-

The "Christian Zionists" you refer to are those who believe the establishment of the State of Israel fulfills prophecy.

Other so called "Christian Zionists". however, consider that the fulfilment of the prophecies is when a significant number of Jews accept Christ as the Messiah.

Anti-semitism has existed both prior to and subsequent to the creation of the State of Israel.

Insofar as Christianity may not actually be promoted in Israel it can also be fairly said that Christians in a number of neighbouring arab states don't fare very well either.

I would like to suggest that salvation is ultimately an individual matter and the rise and fall of nation states peripheral.

What we do want to see is that nation states survive and not succumb to become part of a global ghetto.

New Agers' anti-semitism is an attack on Judaism; Judaism and by inference Jews accept One God and are therefore an anathema to the Hindu based new age philosophy.

Greg, good post. But I think you will find New Age is based more on Buddhist beliefs rather Hinduism. While there is the goddess aspect, there is no male god equivalent in New Age. Instead, the push is for a "state of mind" approach to spirituality.

"Essentially, to generalize, there are two ways in which moral codes can be established. One way we might call the authoritarian way, and the other we might call the democratic way. And a good example of the first is God’s handing down the Ten Commandments to Moses on the mountain. On the other hand in Buddhism, I think what we have here might be called a democratic way of establishing the rules of good conduct."

Given that human beings can rationalize their behavior, it seems to me that the Judeo-Christian system of morality is superior. You can see how New Age leaders would prefer the Buddhist way.

Also, from Bailey's Externalization of the Hierarchy:
"This second group will implement the new religion; by the time they come into control the old theological activities will have been completely broken; Judaism will be fast disappearing; Buddhism will be spreading and becoming increasingly dogmatic; Christianity will be in a state of chaotic divisions and upheavals. When this takes place and the situation is acute enough, the Master Jesus will take certain initial steps towards reassuming control of His Church; the Buddha will send two trained disciples to reform Buddhism; other steps will also be taken in this department of religions and of education, over which the Christ rules, and He will move to restore the ancient spiritual landmarks, to eliminate that which is non-essential, and to reorganize the entire religious field - again in preparation for the restoration of the Mysteries. These Mysteries, when restored, will unify all faiths."

I will gladly be put into the John Haggee catagory who you call decieved. I don't agree with everything he says, and sometimes I just need to study what he says to fully understand what he means, but his account of the Jews and Israel is biblical whether you like it or not. That is why I actively buy John's videos along with others to have the information on hand to take my time to study. Nice try with John Haggee. He has a statement at his website with his belief on the Jews stated. Trying to attack him on the false publication in the Jerusalem post that came out this last summer will not work. For people who want to know John Haggee's view on the Jews here is the link.

    http://www.jhm.org/support-israel.asp

It speeks for itself. He does not in any way say that the Jews can get to heaven any other way except for Jesus.

Nice Job 'Brother'! No one else could solitify the support for the Jews as well a you! Sometimes the best support is from a critic.

    thunderbyrd -
Lucis Trust material is partial to Buddhism. Newport said New Age is a Western expression of classical Hinduism. Mortimer Adler wrote that the eastern religions are acceptable whereas Judaism and Christianity are not. With the understanding that they are not compatible with one world government, it appears that there has been infiltration into almost all of the branches of Judaism and Christianity that pulls them in the direction of Buddhism and Hinduism.
