OFFICE MOVING IS ENDLESS -- CALL IN ON RADIO AND ENCOURAGE ME!

There is a long list of things I like to do and an equally long list of things I don't like to do.  Moving is at the top of one and the bottom of the other.  I'm sure you can figure out which lists.

I will -- with lack of stamina -- do my internet radio program tonight.  I have material I would like JD to call in and react to.  Headline in Detroit Free Press today (Freep.com) under "local comment" is "IF YOU SEEK A SITE FOR HOMELAND SECURITY TECHNOLOGY, LOOK TO MICHIGAN.  Since JD, Dave of Battle Creek, and me are all Michiganders, I wondered what the Battle Creekers think of the newest economy recovery plans for our distressed state of "a real-world environment in which to train, research, develop, test, and evaluate the latest in security measures . . . "The $113-billion global homeland security market is a solid growth market -- with $60 billion expected to be spent among private industry -- and Michigan is best positioned to become the nation's homeland security leader."

Folks, we've got troubles, right here in River City . . . and it starts with a T . . .

Stay tuned

I was not able to listen to the show, which is unfortunate. I was in Ann Arbor earlier. It was a breath of fresh air. I'm starting to get use to the smell of oil. I have to read up more on the Homeland Security thing.

Well, here's a link to that article in the Free Press.

I thought Michigan was going to be a leader in green technology, at least that's been discussed. Now we have this Homeland Security to also lead?

This was posted at Born to Watch. It's a revamp of the Selective Service (aka, the draft).

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-5741

Universal National Service Act. This is an actual bill introduced by embattled congressman Charles Rangel. The age for the apparent draft has increased to age 42 in this bill. Instead of being "drafted" into military service, a person can be drafted into other national service entities. The President would be given a great deal of power if this thing becomes law.

Constance,

It occurs to me that with Michigan leading the way in Muslim population growth, perhaps it is appropriate that it become a leading state in Homeland Security Technology.

Oops! Did I just say such a politically incorrect thing!

My tongue is in my cheek...or maybe not. Why am I not feeling more secure...?

Constance, David,

The idea of green technology is being sold part and parcel with Homeland Security, so it is not too surprising to me. This state is in a heap of trouble, and I don't necessarily mean our economic woes. There is a strong attempt currently underway to make Michigan a proving ground for the benefits all of these new systems can achieve. This was a very strong theme of the recent U.S. Social Forum in Detroit.

Utility companies are deploying Smart Grids en mass in the state. Down town Battle Creek is in the process of being revamped, the desired end result is to make every thing "Smart" and "Green". The manufacturers that are left in the state are all going through the process of upgrading systems, most of which involves traceability technologies.

Department of Homeland Security seems to have a ever growing presence. In the last two weeks I have seen several police style cruisers marked with DHS decals. These are not like most government cars you see, they have complete light bars, and generally look like a typical squad car except they are DHS.

Sorry I missed the show tonight. I have been ultra busy over the last several days with baby related activities. Thankfully it has gotten me further away from the river for a while, as being at home I am dealing with constant sinus problems and periodic headaches. Not to mention the sore throat I have had since Monday.

Obama Warns World Leaders ‘Millions Could Die’ From Gulf Oil Disaster

'A sobering report circulating in the Kremlin today from President Medvedev’s meeting with other World leaders at the G8 summit in Muskoka, Ontario states that President Obama has warned his counterparts that the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster “will most likely kill millions, perhaps tens of millions” of people during the coming year.'

'Fueling Obama’s dire assessment of this "Gulf Apocalypse", this report says, are the oil and toxic rains now being reported to be falling throughout the US Gulf Coast region due to the fracturing of the Gulf of Mexico seafloor allowing untold millions of gallons of oil and millions of cubic feet of methane gas to escape unchecked into our World’s seventh largest body of water, not to mention the millions of gallons of dangerous disbursements being used that is poisoning everything in its path.'

'So dangerous has the Gulf Coast environment become to human beings the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a warning that, in part, says: “People, including pregnant women, can be exposed to these chemicals by breathing them (air), by swallowing them (water, food), or by touching them (skin). If possible, everyone, including pregnant women, should avoid the oil and spill-affected areas.” '

'With nearly 20 million American’s living along the affected Gulf Coast region one wonders where they could all go and leaving many to speculate a massive evacuation is being planned by the US Government of the entire region.'

'This view, however, is not shared by a Louisiana woman named Kindra Arnesen who was allowed unprecedented access to the BP Operations Center overseeing this catastrophe and reported to the Gulf Emergency Summit this past week that along with millions of fish dying because of this disaster people are falling ill all over the region.'

'Even worse is Arnesen’s incredibly reporting that even as this oil disaster grows BP is being allowed the US government to begin cutting costs in their cleanup and oil containment efforts.'

'Important to note about in this report is that Obama’s warning that “millions could die” from this disaster has been further confirmed by the American engineer who helped lead the team to put out the Persian Gulf oil fires set by Saddam Hussein in the first Iraq war and had warned a full 12 months before the April sinking of the Deepwater Horizon that BP was drilling into a huge methane deposit that if released would be beyond catastrophic, it would be biblical in its scale of destruction.'

'Along with the unprecedented danger facing the Americans due to this oil spill catastrophe it is important to remember the billions of dollars being made from it by some of the most powerful people and corporations in the West, and as we had reported on in our June 16th report titled "Obama to earn nearly $85 million from Gulf Oil Disaster." Broad Dialogue With Muslims Worldwide
By Toni Johnson, Staff Writer, CFR.org

Wednesday, 28 October 2009
Interviewee: Farah A. Pandith, U.S. special representative to the Muslim communities, U.S. State Department
Interviewer: Toni Johnson, Staff Writer, CFR.org
October 28, 2009

The Obama administration has created the post of special representative to the Muslim communities with the goal of building trust with the world's Muslims. The first person to serve that role, Farah Pandith, a Kashmir-born Muslim, says the U.S. role in Muslim engagement includes working with the local communities, to try to provide an opportunity across the board in every region, and opportunities to build on initiatives for the common good. The new initiative will employ social media and a host of other tools to help meet the needs of diverse Muslim communities. "The United States is not engaging with a particular kind of religious leader or endorsing a particular type of Islam," she says." Our effort is to engage with a wide scope of civil society, included in that will be people who have influence whether they're religious leaders, scholars, academics, teachers, businesspeople."

SECRETARY CLINTON: Hello, everybody. How are you? Am I up?
MR. KELLY: Yes, you are.
SECRETARY CLINTON: Oh, there’s no like, opening band or anything? (Laughter.) Hello, Matt.
QUESTION: Hello.
SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, good afternoon, everyone. I feel honored to be here today to announce the publication of the State Department’s 2009 Report on International Religious Freedom. The right to profess, practice, and promote one’s religious beliefs is a founding principle of our nation. In fact, many of our earliest settlers came because they wanted the freedom to practice their own religion without a state interfering or oppressing that practice. It is the first liberty mentioned in our Bill of Rights, and it is a freedom guaranteed to all people in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Text of Senator John Kerry's Remarks at the U.S.-Islamic World Forum in Doha
By The Doha Network
Saturday, 13 February 2010
As salaam alaikum. Thank you for the kind introduction. I want to thank the Brookings Project for convening this important discussion. I’m grateful to His Excellency Prime Minister Hamad bin Jasim, Strobe Talbott, Martin Indyk, and all those involved in putting this Forum together. And I am pleased to be here with Prime Minister Erdogan of Turkey. There are an extraordinary number of thoughtful, experienced leaders from many different walks of life assembled here, and I am privileged to share my thoughts with you.

We gather at a time when many have serious doubts about whether real progress has been made since President Obama’s historic speech in Cairo. We can’t speak honestly at a Forum like this without recognizing the widespread frustration many people feel. Much of it is justified. Some of it is not.

Scientists find evidence that oil and dispersant is making its way into the food chain:

"It does appear that there is a Corexit sort of fingerprint in the blob samples that we ran," Erin Gray, a Tulane biologist, told the Huffington Post Thursday. Two independent tests are being run to confirm those findings, "so don't say that we're 100 percent sure yet," Gray said.

"The chemistry test is still not completely conclusive," said Tulane biology professor Caz Taylor, the team's leader. "But that seems the most likely thing."

Two Powers in Heaven

Introduction
Twenty-five years ago, rabbinical scholar Alan Segal produced what is still the major work on the idea of two powers in heaven in Jewish thought. Segal argued that the two powers idea was not deemed heretical in Jewish theology until the second century C.E. He carefully traced the roots of the teaching back into the Second Temple era (ca. 200 B.C.E.). Segal was able to establish that the idea’s antecedents were in the Hebrew Bible, specifically passages like Dan 7:9ff., Exo 23:20-23, and Exo 15:3. However, he was unable to discern any coherent religious framework from which these passages and others were conceptually derived. Persian dualism was unacceptable as an explanation since neither of the two powers in heaven were evil. Segal speculated that the divine warrior imagery of the broader ancient near east likely had some relationship.
In my dissertation (UW-Madison, 2004) I argued that Segal’s instincts were correct. My own work bridges the gap between his book and the Hebrew Bible understood in its Canaanite religious context. I suggest that the “original model” for the two powers idea was the role of the vice-regent of the divine council. The paradigm of a high sovereign God (El) who rules heaven and earth through the agency of a second, appointed god (Baal) became part of Israelite religion, albeit with some modification. For the orthodox Israelite, Yahweh was both sovereign and vice regent—occupying both “slots” as it were at the head of the divine council. The binitarian portrayal of Yahweh in the Hebrew Bible was motivated by this belief. The ancient Israelite knew two Yahwehs—one invisible, a spirit, the other visible, often in human form. The two Yahwehs at times appear together in the text, at times being distinguished, at other times not.
Early Judaism understood this portrayal and its rationale. There was no sense of a violation of monotheism since either figure was indeed Yahweh. There was no second distinct god running the affairs of the cosmos. During the Second Temple period, Jewish theologians and writers speculated on an identity for the second Yahweh. Guesses ranged from divinized humans from the stories of the Hebrew Bible to exalted angels. These speculations were not considered unorthodox. That acceptance changed when certain Jews, the early Christians, connected Jesus with this orthodox Jewish idea. This explains why these Jews, the first converts to following Jesus the Christ, could simultaneously worship the God of Israel and Jesus, and yet refuse to acknowledge any other god. Jesus was the incarnate second Yahweh. In response, as Segal’s work demonstrated, Judaism pronounced the two powers teaching a heresy sometime in the second century A.D.

Waqf Bulldozers on Temple Mount May Be Destroying Jewish History

reprinted from Arutz 7
Av 17, 5770, 28 July 2010

by Eli Stutz

Jewish residents report that Waqf works at the Dome of the Rock have restarted 'under cover', likely destroying Jewish archaeological artifacts.

Arnon Segal, a resident on the Beit Hoshen neighborhood on the Mount of Olives, told Arutz-7 that there have been changes in the area recently. "We are seven families who have lived here for four and a half years, and we have the privilege to watch over the Temple Mount from a unique angle. Unfortunately, the sights we have seen in the past two weeks have caused us great frustration."

Segal said that Waqf attempts to conceal the work but that it is not hard to see what is happening these days on the Temple Mount. "The Waqf works are constant, we see tractors going to and fro carrying earth. The work is taking place near the Dome of the Rock, exactly in the place between where our Holy Temple's courtyard and the Altar used to stand. The Waqf claims they are doing pavement work there, or so they advertise in the news sites, but in practice they surrounded themselves in white burlap and we see there is scaffolding. I suppose that for paving works there should be no need for scaffolding."

Segal expressed concern that the truth behind the work is a continuation of the Islamic movement's effort to destroy and erase the Jewish history of the Temple Mount. "There's probably something much more invasive here. You must understand that when you do pavement work in such a place near the Dome of the Rock, at the elevation where our Holy Temple once stood, you don't have to dig too deep to reach the ancient artifacts that have not been touched for years. They want to destroy the ancient evidence of Jewish history there, and this has already been done in the past. Many times archaeological remains were discovered in garbage piles and no one was arrested."

All of his programs are now gone and his broadcast site has a government seal on it. Here is the link. Someone please tell me I'm wrong about what I'm seeing. Google, CIA Invest in ‘Future’ of Web Monitoring

The investment arms of the CIA and Google are both backing a company that monitors the web in real time — and says it uses that information to predict the future.

The company is called Recorded Future, and it scours tens of thousands of websites, blogs and Twitter accounts to find the relationships between people, organizations, actions and incidents — both present and still-to-come. In a white paper, the company says its temporal analytics engine “goes beyond search” by “looking at the ‘invisible links’ between documents that talk about the same, or related, entities and events.”

The idea is to figure out for each incident who was involved, where it happened and when it might go down. Recorded Future then plots that chatter, showing online “momentum” for any given event.

“The cool thing is, you can actually predict the curve, in many cases,” says company CEO Christopher Ahlberg, a former Swedish Army Ranger with a PhD in computer science.

Which naturally makes the 16-person Cambridge, Massachusetts, firm attractive to Google Ventures, the search giant’s investment division, and to In-Q-Tel, which handles similar duties for the CIA and the wider intelligence community.

Some here have heard me talk about ties between social media and the intelligence community before. With the last piece I posted about internet monitoring being invested in by both Google and the CIA, I thought this may be a good point to post other pieces on the topic.

Here is a couple pieces about Facebook discussing how the original idea was formulated. They also discusses how In-Q-tel, the investment arm of the CIA, and it's employees are involved with Facebook. There is also involvement from DARPA. Further digging on the info presented within will produce many more connections.

http://tinyurl.com/ywqhqt

http://tinyurl.com/62av5l

Here we see that In-Q-tel also has ties to Time Warner. There are also several major Universities represented within In-Q-Tel, but that is another story.

http://tinyurl.com/334gfje

http://www.iqt.org/

http://tinyurl.com/23473da

Facebook is not the only social media group involved. Myspace, Twitter, Google and many other groups have ties to In-Q-Tel and/or DARPA. There is also a New Age aspect for those that take the time to dig into the development process of these groups. The idea was to create a global consciousness that was controllable. Where information could be put into the constant streams of thought, that in turn could be used to manipulate perception of events and people. This produced a interconnected thought process. The intelligence community has simply capitalized on what can be gathered from the stream.

I don't want to get into a ton of long posts about all of the info contained within the links provided. If one examines this information they should be able to gather the large concerted effort by government, academia, and private businesses to make this a reality. I also want others to note that I am not saying one should not use the tools available to them through these sites. I am simply providing a warning so others may not put too much out there as it pertains to their person.

I have a question for you after reading the ticker article on Prophecy Proof Insights "Web's New Gold Mine - Your Secrets" I was wondering, with all this technology, is it feasible to have RFID reader chips loaded into a PC (as a cookie) to read various RFID chips (such as those in clothing, other products containing them)every time a person turns on their PC and transmit that to their data file?

JD said...

Anon 1:31,

You might want to ask not if it is feasible, but is it being done. The answer is yes. Readers are not that costly to produce, and many current forms of computing whether it be PCs, Cell Phones, or modern appliances have forms of reader hardware built into them. The term "Smart" as it applies to phones, grids, appliances, etc means the product has the ability to identify things within the users environment and adjust suggestions, data, advertisements, etc to fit the user.

The idea of the Internet of Things takes this one step further by making everything and every one interactive through digital identities. Readers in all electronic computing devices will be necessary to make this a reality. While the typical Smart Phone is not currently being used along these lines, they do have the capabilities built in. Some models still require application upgrades, but these are slowly being introduced to users.

Many newer PCs are the same way. Just as many retailers are currently set up with readers at check outs. Next time you are shopping, look at the touch pad device where someone typically swipes a card. If it is a newer Verifone or Ingenico device it will probably have a scanner at the bottom of it, or a place where the scanner can be installed. I will post links below to show you what these look like.

It is not a matter of if such things are feasible, or even if they are happening. But do we recognize them when we see them.

After someone pointed out that Walmart was going to Smart Tags on their inventory I decided to take a trip to my local store. The entire place is in the middle of remodeling, including the checkout aisles. Instead of cash registers they have IBM computers that are all touch screen and are linked to new Ingenico readers that have the scanners in them.

PIPE BREAK THAT CAUSED MICHIGAN OIL SPILL IS FOUND

MARSHALL, Mich. (AP) — Officials say they've located the pipeline break that caused hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil to spew into a major river in southern Michigan.

An official with the Canadian company which owns the pipeline that leaked oil into the Kalamazoo River confirmed the break's discovery during a news conference Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Mich.

Enbridge Inc. executive vice president Steve Wuori says "it is highly unlikely there is any other break in the pipe." Wuori also says no oil was leaking from the exposed pipe.

The company shut down the pipeline Monday and had been looking for the break since.

Enbridge says 820,000 gallons of oil leaked. The Environmental Protection Agency puts the total at more than 1 million gallons.

May I strongly suggest that the interview content was VERY informative and would be well worth listening to. Usama has produced an English translation of the Qur'an so that English speaking people can see for themselves what is said in it minus the distortions that Muslims try to sanatize in an effort to deceive us.
Steve's alarm due to the content of what is revealed in this interview is very warranted.
In light of the Arizona debacle it is information that would aid in us understanding of how dangerous a situation we are in. It's well past the time for people to wake up to the very real danger our country is in as we breath in this moment. I'm am not overstating this danger, if anything, I'm understating it. Luciferians influence their agenda in the UN/world/church/NGO organizations and agencies is one thing in the "abstract" HOWEVER the infiltration by them into our government AND the country via the Arizona border in a realtime "Hot War" is cause for real concern right NOW!
Time for a gut check with real reality is here folks.

Interesting article about the loop current from NOAA. Evidently Eddy Franklin has broken away from the loop current and just keeps circulating in the Gulf of Mexico. Good news for the Atlantic Ocean , certainly, though not so sure that's great news for the Gulf, since the Eddy was definitely over the blown out well before it separated. Hope the Gulf won't become a Dead Sea. I wonder if this was God's way to protect the rest of the oceans? Anyone out there with knowledge on loop currents? Will the loop current ever go back into the classical pattern?

Be aware that the article only concerns itself with oil on the surface, and not below the surface.

Why is the Macondo Blow-out so disastrous beyound Patch-up?

JD,
I know you said that you have had experience with wells so I wonder if you might look at this article and give me your take on it. I know you are busy with the new baby, so no rush. I was just curious what you thought about Lim's theory. BK Lim is a geohazard specialist that has investigated past blow-outs. Pay careful attention to the last 6 paragraphs. They make an awful lot of sense to me, but then again, I am an expert on virtually nothing. From the article, Lim says,

What you don't see can be covered up

"Many experts in the oil industry were surprised and questioned the rationality of capping the well when the relief wells were so close to achieving their “bottom kill” objectives. They could have installed the TOP CAP much earlier. This means that BP knew if the gushing well was completely shut at the top, the oil and gas would spread beneath the sea floor and gas seeps would start appearing. So the TOP CAP had to be placed just before the relief well was ready for the “magic show”. Hurricane Bonnie spoilt the show and the delay is already showing signs of stress (gas seeps).

This could also mean that BP was getting less and less confident that the relief wells would work. The relief wells were held up as the last Trump card. If it fails in full (ROV) view of the concerned public throughout the world, BP’s shares would drop like a stone. There are good geological reasons why the chances of the relief wells’ success are less than 30%. But that would be in the next posting.

So instead “of going on a public stage with a final trump card of 30% chance of success” and risking everything BP stands for, a magic show will be set up so that what ever happens, it will be a success. How?"

Hopper,

I can't say anything with certainty, as with anyone else I don't have all of the facts. BP and Washington have made sure of this. As I said before, the casing is ruptured. If anyone needs further proof than the previous pieces I posted where BP admitted to it, all they have to do is look at what happened after this cap was installed. A ruptured well casing is the ONLY reason a well will not get up to sufficient pressure and stay there.

Second, the cap will be necessary to kill the well due to the ruptured casing. Top or bottom kill requires a great deal of mud to be pumped into the well at great pressures. Anywhere that the mud can escape from will decrease the level of pressure that can be built. My guess is they will be pumping it in from all directions. The only question is, will what is left of the casing hold up while they do it?

Unlike the position of Kim I foresee the possibility of another scenario. That being they build up to adequate pressure, and due to the erosion from the busted casing, there is a structural blow out of the well. Given the amount of time and level of pressure at which the oil has been leaking through the casing, I sincerely think there is a possibility of this happening.

You see any pressurized substance will follow the path of least resistance. This path will be through the ruptured casing and subsequent sea bed. Given the pressure with which it will travel through this already fragile area will greatly exceed the pressure that the oil is flowing through, mathematics speak for themselves. We already know the oil is coming out in other areas, so the sea floor is compromised. Now they are essentially going to turn up the pressure, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what happens to a leaky system when pressure is increased.

Picture a leaky garden hose, with the hose bib on low you get a trickle, but as you turn up the water soon you have water gushing from the leak. Same principle and it applies to a well the same way it would your leaky hose. No matter how they go about this, whether they try to pump from both ends, or simply pump in from the bottom, internal pressure in the well will increase. Pressure on the casing will increase, pressure on the well bore will increase, pressure anywhere the oil has managed to find it's way into will increase.

The only workable option I can see aside from caving the well in on itself, is to insert a riser pipe inside the casing and drop it into the well. Pump the mud in from the riser and the relief well, thus allowing you to seal it without adding extra pressure onto the casing. The relief well would need to be wide open while the riser was inserted, to relieve pressure. With the knowledge available this is the only way that I see that could be 100% effective with little chance for catastrophe. Of course at that distance, this is not as easily done as it is to say.

JD,

Thank you for your honest and extremely informative assessment. Doesn't sound easy. I guess I'd best not get too optimistic that this is over.

Hopper,

No problem, glad I could offer a little insight. Pressurized wells are tricky once the casing is damaged, and time is against you as the longer the casing leaks, the bigger the solution required to fix it. If this was a case where it would be okay to lose product the solution would be a little simpler. As all that would need to happen is for the relief well to be opened, then the existing casing could be replaced, with fill put in around it. However this is oil, and a open well bore is out of the question and under water at this depth fill would be nearly impossible.

So you simply have to think along similar lines without removing the original casing. Hence inserting a riser pipe to by pass the casing. The last thing you want to do is increase pressure on a damaged well casing and/or bore. Maybe they have already thought of this and are willing to take the risk, maybe they have a room full of people crunching numbers on variables that they really can't foresee and have overlooked the simplest one. My opinion is based on practical experience, something I doubt those in charge have. At this point I doubt they would even listen to experienced riggers if they objected to their plan. I sincerely hope my thoughts are wrong, or that they get lucky and it works without too many complications.

I just saw this it looks like an international push against religious rights has been advanced.
From AFA One News Now
"A homosexual activist group has side-stepped normal procedures to gain a non-government organization status at the United Nations.
It took the help of the United States, but the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) has gained official status at the U.N., which is an "important step forward for human rights," according to President Obama."

FL State House 9: Kirk Headley-Perdue an Episco-Pagan?!
By Eric Giunta

My readers know I have come out with my first-ever public political endorsement, for Ann Yarko for FL State House 9.

I am convinced that her opponent, RPOF-funded Kirk Healdey-Purdue is a leftist, a veritable Charlie Crist waiting-to-happen, and is not who Republicans and conservatives need representing them in the upcoming race against Democrat incumbent Michelle Rehwinkle-Vasilinda.

As further evidence of just how much at odds Ms. Perdue is with her would-be constituents, I've found out some interesting tidbits concerning her religious predilections:

a) Five years ago, she was named in connection with an event featured by the "Red Hills Pagan Council":

Fri-Sun Sept 23-25, 3-Day Seminar: Balancing, Strengthening & Transforming Your Physical, Emotional & Spiritual Energies. Fri 12 noon-6pm. Sat 9am-6pm. Sun 10am-5pm. $295. Stealthy Government Contractor Monitors U.S. Internet Providers, Worked With Wikileaks Informant

A semi-secret government contractor that calls itself Project Vigilant surfaced at the Defcon security conference Sunday with a series of revelations: that it monitors the traffic of 12 regional Internet service providers, hands much of that information to federal agencies, and encouraged one of its "volunteers," researcher Adrian Lamo, to inform the federal government about the alleged source of a controversial video of civilian deaths in Iraq leaked to whistle-blower site Wikileaks in April.

Rich,

While I didn't put 2 and 2 together, I can't say I'm surprised the "Common Word" is an AoC interlocking initiative. I would bet the same is true of Tony Blair's Faith Foundation (of which Rick Warren is a board member).

Thanks for the John Piper link. His words were Truth. The only disappointing thing is that he referred to some of the signatories as 'friends.' I really don't think one has to be a theologian (I'm certainly no theologian myself) to see how this 'Christian Response' is an ecumenical bid at the expense of true Biblical Christianity -- at the expense of Jesus Christ. For this reason, these 'friends' are wolves and not the shepherds they should be which makes them dangerous -- worse than overt enemies of the faith.

Craig said...

Now that I re-read my words above, I need to clarify. I didn't mean them to sound as though I'm attacking Piper as I'm not. Rather, I'm attacking the signatories. I wholeheartedly believe Piper was being generous to those 'friends' as his extreme disappointment came through.

Military Homosexual Scandal Tied to WikiLeaks Treason

Sunday, 01 August 2010 15:12
Cliff Kincaid

In the scandal involving the theft and release of classified military information that could cost the lives of U.S. military personnel, the British Telegraph newspaper is reporting that the American soldier at the center of the scandal was "openly homosexual" and apparently held a grudge against the U.S. because of the military's anti-gay policy.

In another bizarre twist, reliable reports suggest that Private First Class Bradley Manning, the U.S. Army Intelligence analyst accused of leaking the classified information to the WikiLeaks.org website, was not only a homosexual but was considering a sex change. Manning was arrested at the end of May and is being detained by U.S. authorities.

he Telegraph features photographs of Manning, who could face more than 50 years in prison for treasonous conduct, holding up a sign with rainbow colors demanding "equality on the battlefield" and participating in a gay pride parade.

It is apparent that Manning, based on published reports, was a public homosexual activist for at least over a year. During this time he apparently came up with the idea of downloading and releasing the classified information to WikiLeaks as a way to get back at the United States military over its policy regarding homosexuality.

Telegraph writers Heidi Blake, John Bingham and Gordon Rayner write that Manning had "appeared to sink into depression after a relationship break-up" and became increasingly bitter with his treatment by the Army.

It may be the case that Manning was anxious about the failure of Congress to pass the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" anti-gay military policy.

President Obama had promised during the 2008 campaign to repeal the policy and in office has championed the "rights" of homosexual and "transgendered" people to high-level federal positions.

The riveting Telegraph account of Manning's growing rage and anger raises serious questions of how the soldier was able to flaunt his homosexuality despite the fact that the Pentagon still officially has a policy in place of excluding open homosexuals from military service.

A friend asked the question. I didn't know the answer to whether the Cordoba mosque initiative had any connection to the Alliance of Civilizations so I started looking. Here's something I found:

http://www.hudson-ny.org/1447/ground-zero-mosque-who-is-behind-it
"...Now, let us have some glimpse over the funders and backers of this mosque project. According to information, a scholar and charity head appointed to President Obama's White House Fellowships Commission is closely tied to the Muslim leaders behind this proposed controversial Islamic cultural center to be built near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks. The White House fellow, Vartan Gregorian, is president of Carnegie Corp. of New York....With Gregorian at its helm, Carnegie Corp. is at the top of the list of society supporters on the Islamic group's website. Carnegie is also listed as a funder of both of the society's partner organizations, Search for Common Ground and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. Gregorian was a participant in the U.N. body's first forum, as was Rauf.......

According to a book review by the Middle East Forum, Gregorian's book "establishes the Islamist goal of world domination."

A chapter of the book, "Islamism: Liberation Politics," quotes Ayatollah Khomeini: "Islam does not conquer. Islam wants all countries to become Muslim, of themselves.".....

I'm sure the good researchers here will find this a good start.

'IDF soldiers did not cross border'
By JPOST.COM STAFF

Netanyahu, Barak issue strong reactions to events.
Talkbacks (58)
The IDF released an aerial photograph Tuesday night, showing that the IDF soldiers involved in deadly clashes with Lebanese forces on Tuesday were standing in Israeli territory when they were fired upon, and did not cross the Lebanese border. This information was also reportedly confirmed by a UNIFIL representative.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak responded Tuesday to news of the fatal northern border clashes in which an IDF soldier and 4 Lebanese were killed.

"I hold the Lebanese government directly responsible for this provocation," Netanyahu said.

RELATED:
Photo gallery: Unrest on the Israel-Lebanon border

He added that Israel would continue to respond with force to any further attempts to violate the ceasefire and disturb the lives of residents of the north and the IDF troops who protect them.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak issued a warning to the Lebanese government, saying that Israel would not tolerate any attacks on citizens or soldiers on its "sovereign territory", and called on the international community to condemn the "criminal acts of the Lebanese army.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman instructed Israel's UN representative to submit a complaint to the UN Secretary General and Security Council, citing a violation of UN Resolution 1701. The complaint was made on the basis that Lebanese forces had opened fire despite the fact that the IDF had given prior warning to UNIFIL of their intention to cross the fence in order to cut down a tree, still within Israeli territory, since the fence does not always exactly parallel the border.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, GOC Northern Command Maj. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot called the incident a "deliberate ambush."

Reactions to the day's events also emerged from Lebanese and Syrian leaders, with Syrian President Bashar Assad saying that Syria would stand behind Lebanon and provide any necessary support.

'Lebanon will respond to every agression'

AFP reported Lebanon's Supreme Defense Council Secretary General Saeed Eid as saying:

"Following consultations, the council ordered the country to respond to every aggression against our land, our military, or our civilians with all the means at our disposal."

According to Reuters, a US State Department spokesperson said on Tuesday that the United States was in touch with both Israeli and Lebanese governments, and is "extremely concerned" about violence on the border, urging both sides to exercise "maximum restraint."

Earlier in the day, Kiryat Shmona Mayor Nissim Malcha told Channel 10 that there is no need for northern residents to enter bomb shelters.

"I have alerted all security forces to be ready for any situation," he said. "I hope that this is an isolated incident."

Also speaking after the incident, Northern District Commander Maj. Gen. Shlomo Koron confirmed that no Katushya rockets fell in the area.

Upper Galilee Regional Council Head Aharon Valenzia called on the large number of people enjoying vacations and day trips in the north to continue what they are doing without fear.

Valenzia said that because of the exchange of fire on the northern border his office was in contact with IDF officials in order to provide a response to any possible scenario.

US billionaires pledge 50% of their wealth to charity

Thirty-eight US billionaires have pledged at least 50% of their wealth to charity through a campaign started by investor Warren Buffet and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

They include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, CNN founder Ted Turner and entertainment executive Barry Diller.

"The Giving Pledge" lists all the families and individuals who have committed to the project.

The site says the pledge is a "moral commitment" not a "legal contract".

The campaign was started in June to convince US billionaires to give away at least half of their fortunes either during their lifetimes or after their deaths.

"We've really just started but already we've had a terrific response," Mr Buffett said in a statement.

He added: "The Giving Pledge is about asking wealthy families to have important conversations about their wealth and how it will be used."

Those who pledge their money to "philanthropic causes and charitable organisations" must publicly state their intention through a letter of explanation.
