New Solana power plays
I had scanty rest last night and was hoping for a much earlier bedtime for this one. However, I made a fatal mistake. I did a news search on “our very good friend” Javier Solana. There was a fascinating release from Defense News.org entitled “European Union Crafts a Security Blueprint.” American born/Dutch citizen/EU employee Gijs de Vries made the announcement on behalf of his boss, Javier Solana. The “security blueprint” ideas will be fed into what they are now calling Seventh Framework Program. It will run from 2007 through 2013 and will even include a “transatlantic dimension” per deVries. It will focus on CIP – an acronym new to my vocabulary standing for “Critical Infrastructure Protection.”
I wonder what the “transatlantic dimension” is? I wonder why Javier Solana spent two hours last week meeting with Attorney General Gonzales?
Oh, and what is the chain of command? Well, the Defense News – a USA publication – quoted several who bemoaned the lack of a single office
“We’re living in a polity [the EU] that is administratively crippled,” said Monica den Boer, scientific dean at the Dutch Policy Academy. “It is very difficult to extend law enforcement and security operations across borders” with the union’s current legal framework. François Heisbourg, director of Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique, a Paris-based think tank, warned that Europe’s obligation to prepare itself against terrorist attack goes well beyond the need for better equipment and protection of systems. “The EU needs a single post that coordinates rapid response decisions for both the European Commission and the Council of Ministers,” he said. “Right now, there is no one individual who can do that and who can address the public across Europe in the event of an attack. If we have a cross-border attack, the EU either rises to the occasion or it dies.” De Vries admitted that crisis management and communication “has simply not been well addressed,” but that the member states “are now starting to reflect on how the EU should do this.”
I’ll bet deVries’ boss has plenty of ideas for curing the ‘administrative crippling’ – enable his Foreign Minister designation forthwith and end the charade of him sharing power with Benita Ferrara Waldner – we know who is really calling the shots and it isn’t her! Waiting is difficult, isn’t it, Dr. Solana? Oh, and two days ago Solana announced he was launching his new EU “Gendarmerie Force.” Why does it remind me of European headlines from the late 1930’s? As Herb Peters says it, “stay tuned.”

"Cascioli says he is merely going through the necessary legal steps in Italy so he can ultimately take the matter to the European Court of Human Rights, where he intends to pursue the case against the church for "religious racism."
And I'll bet you didn't even know there was such a European Court for Human Rights.

Italian Lawyers Asked to Prove Jesus Existed
VITERBO, Italy — An Italian judge heard arguments Friday on whether a small-town parish priest should stand trial for asserting that Jesus Christ existed.
The priest's atheist accuser, Luigi Cascioli, says the Roman Catholic Church has been deceiving people for 2,000 years with a fable that Christ existed, and that the Rev. Enrico Righi violated two Italian laws by reasserting the claim.
Lawyers for Righi and Cascioli, old schoolmates, made their arguments in a brief, closed-door hearing before Judge Gaetano Mautone in Viterbo, north of Rome. They said they expected the judge to decide quickly.
Cascioli filed a criminal complaint in 2002 after Righi wrote in a parish bulletin that Jesus did indeed exist, and that he was born of a couple named Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem and lived in Nazareth.
Cascioli claims that Righi's assertion constituted two crimes under Italian law: so-called "abuse of popular belief," in which someone fraudulently deceives people; and "impersonation," in which someone gains by attributing a false name to a person.
"The point is not to establish whether Jesus existed or not, but if there is a question of possible fraud," Cascioli's attorney, Mauro Fonzo, told reporters before the hearing.
Cascioli says the church has been gaining financially by "impersonating" as Christ someone by the name of John of Gamala, the son of Judas from Gamala.
He has said he has little hope of the case succeeding in overwhelmingly Roman Catholic Italy, but that he is merely going through the necessary legal steps to reach the European Court of Human Rights, where he intends to accuse the church of what he calls "religious racism."
Righi, 76, has stressed substantial historical evidence — both Christian and non-Christian — of Jesus' existence.
"Don Righi is innocent because he said and wrote what he has the duty to say and write," Righi's attorney, Severo Bruno, told reporters.
He said he told Mautone during the hearing that Righi was not asserting a historical fact when he wrote of Jesus' existence, but rather "an expression of theological principles."
"When Don Righi spoke about Christ's humanity ... he was affirming that he needs to be considered as a man. What his name is, where he comes from or who his parents are is secondary," he said.
Fonza said he countered that there have long been questions of Christ's existence and that the matter warranted discussion in the court.
"When somebody states a wrong fact, abusing the ignorance of people, and gains from that, that is one of the gravest crimes," Cascioli told reporters.
Righi's brother, Luigi Righi, attended the hearing and said his brother was "serene but bitter."

Read the AP news report above to see what our own leftys are doing. The Nazis used these same intimidating ways in the early days of Hitler.
"In various international organizations "Excellency" is used as a generic title for all heads of state and heads of government. It is often granted to the organization's head, as well."
So, even without a constitution, is the EU a government or an international organization? We informally know what Solana is, but is he legally the head the organization?

I got the following info from http://www.russpickett.com/endtimes/rap03.htm:
The phrase "But of that day and hour knoweth no man" is a common Hebrew idiom for the Jewish holiday of "Rosh HaShanah". Jesus' audience may well have fully understood that what Jesus was possibly saying was "I will come again on Rosh HaShanah at some point in the future". It would be like saying in America, "I'll see you again when we gather together to exchange presents." We automatically know that we are referring to Christmas.
anyway - am engaged at the moment in an education issue and have captured the attention of at least one bishop - and it is important. Am not yet single track (comes with getting older) - and when I finish that I will be ready for your upcoming book and to move onto a broader horizen - but sometimes kids and grandkids come first and in this case - we have been hit pretty hard and so I am working on that. thanks, God bless and love ya - Mary JO
